I do deep breathing and have been going for walks in the woods, which usually seems to help.  I’ve also been taking baths with Epsom salts, which seems to calm me down as well.  All of these things help for a little while, but the anxiety ends up coming back.  Oh-I also like the legs up the wall pose when anxiety is high and have tried faster EFT that Carmie recommended  .

Hi Hazel,

You look like you’ve got some good strategies there. Well done. Keep them up!

I know it’s so hard when we’re in a wave but what can we do? We can’t change them. I went into panic mode recently when I vomited one night n thought I may have vomited up some of my meds.

Our brains don’t think or work like those of people who aren’t on meds. All of our senses are heightened and we can go into panic in a split second. Our minds just go : “Ahhhhhh.”  All of a sudden we come up with the worst case scenarios and scare ourselves so much. It’s irrational thinking a lot of the time but when we’re in the midst of it it feels real.

Walking in the woods sounds amazing, I live in a city, no woods around. A park will have to do for me. I love nature, it’s very soothing.

Hope the FasterEFT helps a bit too. It’s really helped me with a lot of issues.

It’s one day at a time, isn’t it?

Sending hugs your way🤗

Hi Carmie,

I live in the city too, but there is a nice walking trail through the woods not too far from my house.  It is really nice. The Faster EFT has helped me calm down more than once now, so thank you for that tip.  One day at a time is right-thanks!

Thanks DMV64.

I increased my dose of Paxil by .5 yesterday, so hopefully in the next few days things will settle and I’ll feel better.  Claire Weekes has been helpful for me as well.  Glad to hear you had a good day yesterday, I am hopeful my day will come soon.

Wonderful news, Hazel!  :)

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium; vitamin D3; curcumin

Citalopram taper:  2/2018 - 12/2019: 25 mg - 11.03 mg I 2020: 10.89 mg - 7.9 mg I 2021: 7.8 mg - 5.26 mg I 2022: 5.2 mg - 3.36 mg I 2023: 3.3 mg - 1.47 mg 2024: 1/5/24: 1.44 mg; 1/19/24: 1.40 mg; 1/26/24: 1.37 mg; 2/2/24: 1.34 mg; 2/9/24: 1.31 mg; 2/23/24: 1.28 mg; 3/1/24: 1.25 mg; 3/8/24: 1.22 mg; 3/15/24: 1.19 mg

Just wanted to up date.  I woke up with anxiety last night after about only an hour of sleep.  I took a hydroxyzine to fall back to sleep and woke again around 3:00 am feeling anxious and took a second hydroxyzine.  Up for good now with some anxiety, but hoping it will dissipate as the morning goes on.

I just felt I needed to be honest about using the hydroxyzine to get sleep.  I took 2-25mg tablets the night prior before bed as well and it helped me get some rest.  I know I will have to taper off, but I felt I needed something to get me through increasing my dosage.  I have only taken it at night and don’t plan to take any during the day as it makes me very drowsy.

I am hoping to stabilize soon so that my sleep improves without having to take anything.  I am just wondering if going up to 8mg will be enough to do that or if I will need to go up more towards 10mg?

Zoloft 50 mg Fall 2003-October 2016

9mg paroxetine June 18-6.5 mg in am 2.5 mg pm.

July 20 began switch to Citalopram-9 mg Paxil and 5 mg citalopram

July 24-7.5mg paroxetine and 7.5mg Citalopram

July 27-5mg paroxetine and 10 citalopram

I just realized that I may have only taken 7.5 mg yesterday  rather than 8mg. For my evening dose I’m pretty sure I took .5 instead of 1 mg.  I think I’ll take 7.5 mg this morning and then .5 in the evening.  It’s a little difficult for me to remember the second dose and I think I was in a hurry and used to only taking the .5.  Hopefully this doesn’t set me back.

I don't know about hydroxyzine, hopefully another mod can help with this.  Have you tried any sleep CDs/recordings?

It's hard to say if it will be enough, but we need to see what it does for a while first.  Your system seems very sensitive to dose changes, so we need to be very gentle with it and only make tiny changes.

Hi Songbird, thank you for your reply.  I hadn’t been sleeping much for a couple of weeks and knew increasing the dose could make things worse, so I decided to take the hydroxyzine to get some sleep.  I know it’s not the best idea, but I needed a break and some sleep.  I have tried everything I can think of to sleep naturally, but when the anxiety is high I find relaxation/sleep recordings to be irritating.  I will try cutting back on the hydroxyzine as I stabilize.

I know how important it is to keep the doses regular and that’s why I can’t believe I took the wrong dose last night.  I will be much better about remembering now.  I hope things level off soon and that wrong dose doesn’t have a big effect.

Hi Hazel,

You just have to sit with this new change for a bit longer.  It's only been ? 2 days.

4 days to a week or more to see if it helps.  There's an excellent chance that it will.

If the hydroxyzine(an antihistamine, Vistaril is the brand name) gives you a bit more sleep........so be it.  I won't chastise you for that.  B)  Good idea you had to taper off it a little bit, the hydroxyzine......hopefully you won't get more anxious that way when you quit it.    Of course, as you know,  making only one change at a time is best.  Otherwise it's really difficult to know what is helping or hindering........or what is causing what........simple terms......

I think it's mostly anxiety.  Do you get 5 hour stretches of sleep?  I just used to go by that rule.......if I could get a 5 hour stretch........good enough........and then I'd pick up a bit more, sleep later in the morning with dreams and everything.

Enjoy the windows.

Just thought I'd stop by.

Thank you MMT.

I do believe this change is going to help and will give it time.  I can’t believe I took the wrong second dose yesterday, but I will be more careful here on out.

Thanks for not giving me a hard time about the hydroxyzine.  I know it’s not he best thing to do, but I take the smallest amount I can and plan to taper off rather than stopping abruptly.  I do know that adding it in makes it more difficult to know what is causing what, so I hope to ween off of it over the next few days.  I just really needed some sleep.

I get 5 hour stretches of sleep on the hydroxyzine otherwise I wasn’t getting more than a few hours here and there.  I am hoping as things stabilize the sleep will improve.

Thank you for stopping by-it is always so nice to hear from you.😊

Hi Hazel,

How are you doing? It’s so easy to make a mistake in dosing, isn’t it? Our brains don’t function that well, we are always in la la land and the stress of this whole procedure can be overwhelming.

When I first joined this site I think I may have taken a double dose of seroquel because I couldn’t remember if I took it or not. I didn’t take it at exactly the same time every night because it didn’t make any difference to my withdrawals what time I took it as long as I took it.

It’s so much easier if I take it at exactly the same time I’ve found.

Also if I think I’ve accidentally measured wrong and my brain is so foggy that I did the measuring automatically and then wondered if I did it right I will throw out the mixture and start again. I’m all for better safe than sorry now.

Thank you sending me hugs on my thread, you are a sweetheart and I think of you often 💚

Hi Carmie,

I’m not doing as well today as yesterday, but I am guessing the mix up in dosing is at least partially to blame.  It is easy to mix up doses especially when you recently change something.  I automatically went to what I had been taking.  Still hopeful this will all sort out.

Yes, it might be the mix up Hazel, but then again who knows in this process. Our bodies are just so sensitive to every little change but at the same time even when we change nothing we can still get severe symptoms.

It will definitely sort itself out. It always does in the end.

Im getting more windows now but im struggling to get out of bed today because of the chronic fatigue syndrome. The withdrawals take a toll on my illness too.

Even though the withdrawals are bearable at the moment I have anhedonia. I’m feeling pretty numb. All part of the withdrawal process.

I was staying with a friend too for five days and being around lots of people constantly is exhausting, though I had a lovely time and we had a party. I was able to enjoy the party as I was having lots of long windows. Danced to Funky Town:  Won’t you Take Me To a Funky Town 😃. Music is great escapism. I have a concert to go to this month which I’m looking forward to.

My strategy for today is to crochet in bed and watch dvds. I have housework to do but I can only do a bit at a time as I have no strength. I need a battery recharger, one of those energiser batteries that keep on going😄.

If I pick up a little later on I might do something that takes a bit more brain power. All we can do is just take each moment as it comes.

Take care 💚💚💚💚💚

The evening dose is very important. Consistency is essential. We can expect some fluctuation for some days.

Sounds good Alto.

I took 7.5 mg this morning and .5mg this evening.  Does that sound okay or should I go back to 7mg in the morning and 1mg in the evening?

Zoloft 50 mg Fall 2003-October 2016

I went up to 150 mg for several months during the winter of 2016 after going through a tough time trying to stabilize.

Lexapro 5 mg and then 10 mg October 2016-December 2016

Paxil December 2016 to present.  Started at 10 mg went up to 20 mg for three weeks and started reducing by 5mg every 2 weeks per doctors orders.  Got down to 7.5 mg and ran into trouble, found this website and updosed to 10 mg.

9mg paroxetine June 18-6.5 mg in am 2.5 mg pm.

July 20 began switch to Citalopram-9 mg Paxil and 5 mg citalopram

July 24-7.5mg paroxetine and 7.5mg Citalopram

July 27-5mg paroxetine and 10 citalopram

July 30-2.5 paroxetine and 10 of Citalopram

August 2-2mg paroxetine and 10mg Citalopram, dropped paroxetine Aug. 3

August 8 increased to 15 mg citalopram

Take 1mg lorazepam as needed and 3mg melatonin at night.

Hazel, please stop jumping around in dosage. You were taking 7mg in the a.m. and 1mg in the p.m. , isn't that right?

I was, but I forgot to take 1mg last night and accidentally took .5 instead for a total of 7.5mg for the day.
