Hi Dave,

I am still doing pretty well.  Anxiety comes and goes, but has been pretty mild.  I hope you are feeling better-we need to have a window together very soon!

Thanks Carmie.

Unfortunately, I started having more anxiety last night and didn’t sleep well.  I did stay at my parents last night as we are here for the holiday weekend, so that may play a part.  I know I didn’t eat as well yesterday either-more sweets than normal.    Having anxiety this morning, but sitting outside in the sun hoping it will pass soon.

It is just hard after having a couple of good days and feeling hopeful that I am on my way to stabilizing to feel bad again.  I am hoping this is just a small bump on the way to recovery.

Zoloft 50 mg Fall 2003-October 2016

I went up to 150 mg for several months during the winter of 2016 after going through a tough time trying to stabilize.

Lexapro 5 mg and then 10 mg October 2016-December 2016

Paxil December 2016 to present.  Started at 10 mg went up to 20 mg for three weeks and started reducing by 5mg every 2 weeks per doctors orders.  Got down to 7.5 mg and ran into trouble, found this website and updosed to 10 mg.

9mg paroxetine June 18-6.5 mg in am 2.5 mg pm.

July 20 began switch to Citalopram-9 mg Paxil and 5 mg citalopram

July 24-7.5mg paroxetine and 7.5mg Citalopram

July 27-5mg paroxetine and 10 citalopram

July 30-2.5 paroxetine and 10 of Citalopram

August 2-2mg paroxetine and 10mg Citalopram, dropped paroxetine Aug. 3

August 8 increased to 15 mg citalopram

Take 1mg lorazepam as needed and 3mg melatonin at night.

Hi Hazel,

Can you update your signature please?  The portion below your posts......I think your last change was Tuesday, May 22? You are now at 8.5mg with  7 mg in the morning and 1.5mg at night?  I had to go back a page to find out when you started this change and sift through quite a bit.   As well as keep doing the symptom and drug logs........you are getting good at that.  B)  I like your anxiety ratings......good idea.

I think that certainly the change in location/holiday weekend could be contributing to what feels like a bit more anxiety.  Sounds like a nice change........even so........any kind of change can ultimately act like a stressor on our fragile nervous systems during W/D.  So good to see you ABLE to keep on suiting up and showing up in your family and work life.  I know it's not easy.

Happy Memorial day.  Many to remember for me now!  And the nearby cemetery is beautiful with colorful flowers all aglow.  Welcome rain today.

Love, peace, healing/inrecovery, and growth,

I prefer my desktop for that Hazel.  I can access mine on my android though and could update there.  However signatures can't be viewed from mobile devices.

http://survivingantidepressants.org/topic/12364-please-put-your-withdrawal-history-in-your-signature/?page=2

So......if your smart phone is like mine here is what you do:

upper right corner of "home page" once signed in has 3 bars> hit that> Account> Account settings > another 3 bar area that says "settings area"> signature

From there you can update......at least on an android device.  An Iphone may be a bit different.

Otherwise.......do it when you get back to a laptop or desktop would be my best advice.  It's not crucial that you do it RIGHT NOW but ASAP.  Please.  Thank you.  B)

Also, don't forget to use some of your non-drug coping tools.  Yes, online support is one.  Sunshine is also one.  What else have you gleaned so far?  We are looking now for improvement, as you know, a W/D type of stability..........not total eradication of all symptoms.

Thanks MMT,

I feel like the updosing helps for a few days, but then I start having anxiety again.  Does this mean the updosing is working, but I need more time to stabilize, or is it not going to work for me?

A quick summary of my day:

Didn’t sleep well last night.  Up this morning with anxiety that has hung around all day without break at between a 2-6.  It’s manageable but uncomfortable.  I took my first dose an hour early today @ 7:30 because I read the clock wrong when I got up.  Went for a walk in the morning and sat outside as much as I could, but it’s been really hot out.  I ate better today-no sweets.  Took 250mg of melatonin around 4:15.  Feeling a little more calm.  I am home now, so we’ll see how tonight goes.

Hi there Hazel,

Its good to see you are getting some reprieve here n there.

Sorry your anxiety still gets bad though. No fun, that’s for sure.

When you get small pockets of feeling okay it makes it makes you realize though that we will eventually heal. Maybe no big consolation when we’re in a wave but at least there are small rays of sunshine.

Hope tonight goes goes well for you💚

Update:

Slept okay last night.  Up early with anxiety, but was able to fall back to sleep.

moderate anxiety upon getting out of bed

8:30 am 7mg paroxetine

9:00 250 mg magnesium

10:00 bath with Epson salts

felt better after bath

11:00 breakfast-feeling pretty good.  Anxiety at a 1 or 2 up to 12:45 pm

12:45 anxiety creeping back up to a 3 or 4

1:45 lunch-get together at friend’s house

Anxiety at 2-4 throughout the afternoon

6:00 increased anxiety to 6 or 7

6:30 went for a 35 minute walk-anxiety down to 1 or 2

Today was better than yesterday, but anxiety was around to some degree most of the day.  Not sure if this means updose is working?  I feel overall I am improving on the degree of anxiety, but I’m not doing as well as I was last Thursday, Friday into Saturday.

In need of some guidance here.  I have had a bad night with barely any sleep due to anxiety.  The anxiety has gotten even worse this morning, so I ended up taking 50 mg hydroxyzine as I have to go to work.  Still really anxious, but it may take a while yet for it to kick in.  I don’t know what to do going forward.  Do I hold and hope things stabilize?  Would doing another small increase help?  It seems after an increase I feel better for a few days but then the anxiety comes back as bad as ever.  Does this mean the increase isn’t going to work?  I just feel so hopeless.  I really thought I was on the right track to getting better, but now I just don’t know anymore.  @Altostrata any thoughts?

I don't have any guidance or answers. I wish I did, I wish I could take this away from you. I know exactly how you feel and it is absolutely hell on earth. I get the hopeless feeling, when nothing seems to create any lasting progress it feels completely hopeless.

"Your symptoms will tell you but it generally looks something like this: if an updose is the right thing to do you should experience some relief from your symptoms pretty soon. If that relief continues, 37 mg is enough.

If after the initial relief the symptoms return to the previous level you experienced before updosing that's usually a sign your brain could use some more."

Thanks so much for sharing this Dave.  It is really helpful.  It sounds like maybe I need to increase a bit more, but I will wait for a mod to give feedback first.

 I just feel so hopeless

I am thinking about you as well, Hazel.  I was sad to read that you had such a rough night.  I understand when you say you feel hopeless.  I struggle with that quite a bit as well.  But we must have faith that we will find our way out of this medication debacle as others before us have.  Let's hang in there together.

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium; vitamin D3; curcumin

Citalopram taper:  2/2018 - 12/2019: 25 mg - 11.03 mg I 2020: 10.89 mg - 7.9 mg I 2021: 7.8 mg - 5.26 mg I 2022: 5.2 mg - 3.36 mg I 2023: 3.3 mg - 1.47 mg 2024: 1/5/24: 1.44 mg; 1/19/24: 1.40 mg; 1/26/24: 1.37 mg; 2/2/24: 1.34 mg; 2/9/24: 1.31 mg; 2/23/24: 1.28 mg; 3/1/24: 1.25 mg; 3/8/24: 1.22 mg; 3/15/24: 1.19 mg

Hi Hazel,

So sorry you’re struggling so much.

I don’t know anything much about updosing. I only really updosed once many years ago. Before I knew anything about tapering I once tapered by a way too high percentage. I felt like was being electrocuted, it was horrific.

All I did was go back to the last dose I was on n it settled after a while. It took a little while but I got my equilibrium back.  At the time I thought, oh no, do I have to go right back to my original dose as I’d already been tapering for a while and didn’t want to start back at square one.

I decided to just go back to the last dose I was on n it worked. Phew!

I can see a lot of people care about you here, sending u big, big hugs too 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Well today was much better than yesterday.  I’ve had some anxiety off and on throughout the day, but nothing too bad.  I’m still wondering if I should continue to hold at 8.5 mg or would I benefit from a small increase to 9 mg?

Waves and windows are part of getting stable. Steady average improvement is also a part of getting stable.

I am hesitant about a dosage increase because 1) it adds more to taper later; 2) it's another drug change for your system to get used to; 3) you still might need some time to stabilize.

Waves and windows are part of getting stable. Steady average improvement is also a part of getting stable.

I am hesitant about a dosage increase because 1) it adds more to taper later; 2) it's another drug change for your system to get used to; 3) you still might need some time to stabilize.

If I still see overall improvement over the next couple days I would hold.

Being up and down is scary.  When it's over you realize there was nothing to be afraid of, but when you are experiencing it, it feels very bad.  I'm feeling that fear today, too, and I'm reminding myself that today will be just like the others.  Nothing bad is going to happen just because I feel uncomfortable.  I believe the up and down is part of getting stable.  I didn't think it would take this long, but I think that's what is happening to me.  You are not alone. - Rosetta
