Update.  A lot of inactivity here by me lately, life feels pretty stressful but not entirely in a bad way. I study part time at least, so I feel i'm not necessarily stuck in the same place forever. And I'm also trying to continue working on the hobby that I love and always try to improve on it, it's one of the most important things to me and now I'm finally able to do it more regularly again.

Shyness is an obstacle for me, both IRL but also on here when it comes to venturing outside my own thread. Bit silly. Requires the right mindset and mood for me.

I would say all in all I'm still feeling a lot of improvement. I'm also noticing how I am able to handle bad situations a lot better, even if i'm still not completely there yet in terms of how I want to act and react. I still don't really read news and I try to stay away from any drama, because things like that can quickly drag me down a lot and it's not worth it.

Another thing is since I got to finally live on my own for a while my tics has decreased dramatically, finally (for the most part). I do love being on my own and deciding who I am gonna socialise with and when, it makes me feel at peace.

I met a person recently who mentioned the difficulty getting off the medication and staying on them because it is so difficult quitting, and I mentioned briefly how it has been for me and also this forum. So I ended up showing the person SA and the thread describing the 10% taper method. You realise how many people are on these kinds of meds and how encouraged it is, at least in my country.

2011-2015: Escitalopram (Cipralex) 20 mg, Voxra 300 mg (quit Voxra in late 2015, no issues)

2016: Started tapering Escitalopram 5 mg at a time, every fourth week

July 24th, 2016: Escitalopram 5 mg

April 2nd, 2017: Quit last dosage (WD worsened a lot)

Ca 6 last months of 2017: Taking Diazepam 15-25 mg irregularly, less than once a month

Ca Dec 2017: Out of Diazepam, i.e free from all prescribed drugs

Now: Still drug free

Supplements: Irregular intake of Omega-3, magnesium, vitamin D.

Oh I have to add one thing to that update. I have been able to go out in public and do errands and stuff like that without getting those insane stomach pains every time now from the stress. I have been able to do it without issues several times, hopefully that will continue to improve. I'm pretty sure it will but that one has been a big deal for me since it was such a big obstacle.

Hi Sunnyday,

Thanks for thinking of me and popping over to my thread. How are you doing? It’s nice to read that you’re able to get out and about without the stomach pains. What wonderful progress.

Hope you’re having a good day🧡

Thank you both. I am doing well but have been very busy.

Update: Biggest physical issue right now is actually not my stomach for once but my motor tics. They have been pretty extreme lately and I really don't have a clue why that is. At times it's so bad that it feels like my fingers are about to get dislocated and it hurts. The restless feeling in my hands is also really bad from it. I will keep a journal and see if I can tell when it gets worse and when it gets better, maybe I can see a pattern.

Stomach isn't really good still, but my stomach has always been somewhat problematic. I'd say it's better now than it was about three months ago.

My periods were a big issue before, they don't seem to be anymore. I won't say yet that it has gone back to normal completely in case I get a surprise later, but I have had several times now where my cramps are not nearly as bad and my emotional state doesn't plummet in the same way as it used to during my withdrawal. And when it does it's not as extreme.

To put it in perspective, before I had no choice but to take one ibuprofen together with two paracetamols every 4th hour. So during my periods I'd have to take those 3 pills 5 or 6 times a day for about 4 days straight. On top of that I also took painkillers when not on my period now and then because of my constant stomach pains. Now I usually only have to take it two times a day, so one time in the morning and one time in the evening, usually only 1 or 2 days. When not on my period I almost take no painkillers at all anymore, maybe once a month. So I am happy about that.

Mentally I have for the most part been feeling well despite some personal troubles. I think the practices with meditation and handling emotions are paying off and I'm really happy that I have found ways to handle it. I find that after all this time of practicing constructive ways of thinking and looking at my emotions, my mind automatically does it now which was my goal. Instead of spiraling down into depression, my mind often resorts to encouraging or consoling myself in my head when I feel down now. I can let myself feel bad if needed but I don't ruminate or bring myself down further.

I still have bad days but they feel natural and not really as strongly connected to withdrawal for the most part. They are also not as dark as before, just because I have a bad day I don't automatically also feel suicidal. But I definitely feel depression at times, it's just a lot more brief and easier to snap out of it.

I still cry easily, something that started during withdrawal and that I could control well before all this. It's frustrating but I'm working on it and I feel confident in that I will become more myself in that aspect too eventually. Looking at the bigger picture it's a very small side effect even if it's annoying.

Hi Sunnyday,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re still getting physical symptoms, but how great that you are coping better emotionally. That’s wonderful. Yes, we have our bad days where we cry at the drop of a hat, that’s just normal.

I’m so happy you are now off all medication. Well done! Sending hugs🤗

Short update. Tics is better again. The only difference in lifestyle is I consume a little less sugar, and I'm a bit less stressed out.

I still have some neuro emotions that are problematic at times. They have lessened a lot (!) but they can still be an issue. They mainly come as jealousy and sometimes anger/frustration. Both are emotions that I experienced very rarely before the drugs (I wasn't a jealous person and definitely not an angry one).

I feel happy and optimistic for the most part and like I'm in control, so I don't think it's long before I will feel fully recovered. I hope.
