Hi Ogres,

Just read a little bit of your thread. You sound like you’re doing really well overall. Are your only symptoms now depression and insomnia, and do they only ramp up when you get stressed? Yes, it certainly may be time for the “badge” if that’s the case.😁

Hi Carmie,

yes, I'm a fully functioning individual with somewhat sensitive nervous system which overreacts to stimulation bringing insomnia and depression sometimes. But things are improving. I notice I can sleep some nights for 9 hours! What a joy!

I'm mostly my former self, for good and for worse.

Just a quick update that my sleep is so much better now at 2.5 years (30 months) off of ADs. No insomnia on it's own, but only as a result of a stressful event. I'm able to sleep for 9 and even 10 hours sometimes! I don't care if too much sleep is not good according to some recommendations! I'm sleeping just because I can.

Best wishes to everyone.

I thought to give a quick update at 3 years and 2,5 months off of ADs. I’m doing OK physically. If not stressed or sleep deprived there are mostly no symptoms. But, I’m stressed more easily as my nervous system is still very sensitive. And when stressed, I sometimes struggle to sleep. Nights with bad sleep happen every 2-3 weeks. These are not totally sleepless, but with constant waking. After such non-restorative nights I predictably don’t feel very good.

Doing my best to look after myself: restricting junk food and alcohol, following sleep hygiene, working out, being outside. However, there is one thing I noticed when doing blood work - my testosterone has dropped quicker than it should with normal aging. It’s still within normal, but anyway the drop is noticeable. I can feel it in the gym and by appearance. Muscles lost some volume. Strange, that when I had not been sleeping for weeks, my hormones (at least testo) was better (but I can only judge subjectively as I didn’t do the tests). Or maybe some damage was done with all this sleep deprivation which just started to manifest itself. Not sure whether it’s going to get worse or better. If you have any thoughts/experience - please share. Would be good to know the mechanism behind this drop. My prolactin and SHBG, both inversely related to testosterone, are relatively high. Still within normal, though. I guess if these can somehow be lowered it will positively impact testo. Although don’t want to experiment by adding an unknown substance in the mix. There are some articles mentioning that ADs raise prolactin. I wonder if prozac is to blame even if I’ve been off of it for more than 3 years.

Psychologically I’m OK, but more withdrawn socially. Just keeping it to myself and family. For a change. As previously I was focused on my career, business.
