chika -- Welcome to Surviving Antidepressants (SA)

Please tell us about what brought you to this site. Are you currently taking psychiatric medication?  Do you want to discontinue from it safely?

A request: Would you summarize your history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly?

  • Any drugs prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years.
  • Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago)
  • Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016.
  • Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses.
  • A list is easier to understand than one or multiple paragraphs.
  • Link to Account Settings – Create or Edit a signature.

Hi Chika, thank you for filling in your signature.  Unfortunately you are tapering zoloft very fast and need to hold the 12.5  to let your brain catch up with the reductions. If you continue to taper at this rate you will suffer from withdrawal. I also tapered too fast before I found this site and learned how to taper safely. Sadly doctors know very little about tapering and most of us found out about tapering by joining this site as you did. I am very glad that you found us and we will help you to be free from zoloft safely.

Here are some topics that explain why we need to taper very slowly. The 10% is fine but needs to be 10% of the CURRENT DOSE, and with a  MONTH between cuts.

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

I sometimes wait 2 weeks
and I read ashton protocol and made it
she say 10% every week or two
I have problems with sleep because the Zoloft and gain 35 kilo so the doctor warned me about diabetes
so I don't want to wait with that taper
its hard

Welcome to the forum. I'm tapering Zoloft too.  To be safe, follow what this forum suggests to taper antidepressant slower than what Ashton says. 10 percent of current dose per month. Then speed up a bit only after a few months if you are able to handle going quicker. That is if you do not have symptoms. Best of luck!
