@DazzlingColdThank you for the suggestions . It has been a nightmare since January and I just pray everyday for some type of shift . I have stayed away from most things but just introduced Metamucil which actually is a prebiotic ( I did not know this ) and seeing if that helps a bit . Once i see how I do with that I will try introducing probiotics . I eat a pretty clean high veggie diet with a bit of meat and fruit .
Once I get these onboard I will try the magnesium .
Take good care

Praying 🙏🏼
you as well

Dear @Soup

I'm so sorry you're having such a rough time.

The WD experience really can feel merciless.

I was also incorrectly tapered off of Lexapro by a doctor, essentially amounting to a CT. It's a horrid drug to quit.

And you have had much more to contend with than just that.

You are very brave and strong!

I know it might not feel like it, but you are getting through and you have come so far.

You're working hard and doing a great job (whether you believe it or not).

Healing is happening (whether you feel it or not).

Do you like poetry?

Once in a while, when I'm able, I read a poem, or even just a few lines, and it reaches a quiet place inside me that can be otherwise difficult for me to feel in WD. Poetry can sometimes touch and reconnect me, and in that connection offer a moment's respite.

This is a lovely thread, if you're curious -- or maybe you'd like to add a personal favorite?

(No pressure, just poems.)

Holding space for your experience.

Thinking of you and sending healing vibes <3

So confusing as to what is really happening for me …..

@Soup

Speaking for myself, thinking is not my strong suit in WD!

The aspect of my mind that might usually competently "understand" and "reason" does not perform very well in WD.

I often find that my mind is overwhelmed with neuro-confusion, along with other neuro-emotions; and my WD mind scrambles to make sense of things, racing around in an exhausting loop-de-loop that never goes anywhere. It's like thought akathisia, so much restless mental energy.

I try to remind myself: This is temporary, it will pass.

In the meantime, I do not seek reassurance or clarity from the dizzy, muddy source that is my WD-mind.

Instead, I try to locate other places inside me -- be they physical or meta-physical -- where I might anchor my faith, whence to practice trust. (I don't know what that sounds like to anyone else, maybe this makes little sense thus expressed.)

It's not about thinking we're healing, but about trusting that we are healing.

You may not know it in your mind or feel certain, but you can choose to believe it in/with your being, and align yourself with that belief. There is a knowing that is not of the mind but of our innermost wisdom. Align yourself with that intuitive knowing.

What I mean is: You are not your mind. You are not your thoughts. You are not your feelings. You are not the sensations in your body.

There is a you that is free and true -- your nature, your being -- and all you need do is visit (with) yourself there -- to touch a moment's peace.

WD has made it very difficult for me to meditate, but I have at times found it helpful to listen to audio recordings of Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, Mooji and others.

Last but not least, here is an excellent help topic on something that is foundational to facilitating healing: Acceptance.

When we accept where we are, how things are, it enables an energetic shift that is transformative and opens us up to a whole other dimension of healing. Acceptance is not a static state, it's a dynamic practice worthy of our daily attention.

Along with practicing patience, practicing acceptance is one of the most powerful things we can do to help us through.

I'm rooting for you, Soup.

My (unsolicited) advice: Don't try to "understand" or "figure out". Let go of the mind's frantic need to analyze and fix and solve.

Find a place inside you that is not mind, and practice connecting to that non-mind space within. (Whatever that means to you, whatever that looks like.) This may occur during activity or it may occur during rest; it may occur when you intend or when you're busy with something else.

There is a place inside us where the soil is rich and full of nutrients. Every time we reach for that place -- whether or not we feel we actually arrive there or not -- we plant a seed, and water the ground, and shine our light on What Is. And, in turn, What Is grows; and What Is shines its light back on us, and we grow. As we care for ourselves and tend our gardens and cultivate being with What Is, What Is nourishes us right back -- in an infinite feedback loop of love and light and being. That intercommunication is an attunement we are free to practice; that connection is our safe space, our resilience pathway. It lives inside us and is available to us at any time. All we need do is practice being with what is.

Wasn't expecting to write any or all of the above, but that's what came out, so there ya have it! Haha

Don't know if it makes sense to you but like I said, never mind -- listen with your heart, it will hear the message behind the words.

And if not, feel free to disregard and do whatever feels right for you!

In solidarity and support <3

I am sending you healing and relieving vibes. I wish I could help you, and everyone, a little more. I know what a horrible place WD can be. Hugs for you. This simple words help me (i hope they help you too). Be kind to yourself. You are enduring a lot. Some days just getting out of bed is an accomplishment that deserves our attention in the form of credit. Gentle, gentle, gentle. It’s a tough battle we fight. You are doing amazing.

@Soup I send my support. I know how hard it is to have the thoughts about holding vs not holding. I held and I am really glad I did, but that is me. I am thinking about you and sending you warm wishes.

@RachelSusanI watched an inner compass talk today and a gentleman named Chris Paige was on there and he has been holding after his benzo withdrawal and psych admission on two drugs and is feeling quite functional cognizant of being very good to himself . He had Aka for 3 years . He is tapering very slowly off the last drugs . So I must keep that in mind …….

I would love to be like I was last year

@Soup I am glad that the inner compass talk helped you out. What you are going through is very difficult. It is so hard to hold.  We keep thinking we need to do something to fix the problem, but sometimes the fix is not to make another change to an already sensitized body. I believe you are doing the right thing.

@Soup I am hoping for you.

I just began my lexapro taper the end of June. I thought antibiotics were safe too, but the more I learn, the more I think antibiotics were a big part of what led to my anxiety and subsequently my lexapro prescription.

Clonazepam:

1 mg 1/23/22-3/21/22

Lexapro:

5 mg 1/21/22-1/22/22

10 mg 1/23/22-1/31/22

15 mg 2/1/22-2/15/22

20 mg 2/16/22-6/29/22

18 mg 6/30/22-7/20/22

16.5 mg 7/21/22-?

3.7 mg 9/1/23-present

@Soup

I treated the symptom.  Depending on what the symptom of the day was I treated for that.  If you are constipated then perhaps you can take something for constipation?  Unfortunately I never found one universal thing that worked. I know this is hard and I feel sorry for you.

Trying really hard to change the channel today but the despair at not being able to even feel my own skin properly is so overwhelming . So many of my symptoms have not even shifted a millimeter and I will admit I am struggling  . I know we all are and I send out gentle hugs and healing wishes to all .
I hope I am doing the right thing holding ???????????

Hi Soup! Im no pro at this, but if I was in your position I would hold. I know it’s frustrating to not feel relief. And you are doing so good by just existing right now. Needing change would have me wondering about actually starting it and possibly through changing the med situation in form of another reduction. Personally, I fear things getting worse, instead of better, if I go too fast. Sending strong relief vibes to you. Hugs

Are there online international pharmacies where you can purchase antidepressants ? I only ask this because my country does not sell the Immediate release of Wellbutrin and I was just wondering if this was a thing people could do ? I don’t want anything that’s illegal or shady . I really want to taper but was hoping to transistion over to the immediate release  ……

Thank you in advance for any info

Hi @Soup! I live in the US and have seen Canadian pharmacy websites. They ask for a prescription but i am not sure how the process is as I haven’t tried it.

just out of curiosity, do you see any downsides to making the liquid out of XR? Truly just want to learn your perspective (not trying to question your choice or persuade you to change it). Because I wonder at times if part of the WD symptoms I feel with each reduction are affected by XR liquid. However hard WD has been, it has been manageable so far, thankfully. Just usually thinking if anything could make it less bad.

Also, how are you? And how have your days been lately?

I am so sorry it has been such a hard day.  It is so hard not to feel worn down when you are dealing with the same misery day after day.  But here you are doing it and getting through.  Keep holding on, brave Soup.  I am hoping you experience a shift soon.....it will happen!

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium; vitamin D3; curcumin

Citalopram taper:  2/2018 - 12/2019: 25 mg - 11.03 mg I 2020: 10.89 mg - 7.9 mg I 2021: 7.8 mg - 5.26 mg I 2022: 5.2 mg - 3.36 mg I 2023: 3.3 mg - 1.47 mg 2024: 1/5/24: 1.44 mg; 1/19/24: 1.40 mg; 1/26/24: 1.37 mg; 2/2/24: 1.34 mg; 2/9/24: 1.31 mg; 2/23/24: 1.28 mg; 3/1/24: 1.25 mg; 3/8/24: 1.22 mg; 3/15/24: 1.19 mg; 3/29/24: 1.17 mg; 4/5/24: 1.14 mg; 4/13/24: 1.11 mg; 4/20/24: 1.09 mg

It does.....it will.  Hold on to the experience you had of healing from your previous tapers. It happened then so it will happen again. I know how hard it is to believe it though and how perhaps that experience now feels very far off but it will change. Also some people don't get the wave/window pattern and that makes it hard too as we don't see the evidence but it is all happening in the background. 💗

@Altostrata I hate to bother you as I know you are so busy and give of your time so generously but I wanted to confer with you about the cutting of Wellbutrin XL for tapering . I have read the Wellbutrin section a lot and tried to talk with pharmacists here in my country but am still so confused .

If I cut it I understand it becomes Immediate Release and would have to take that 3 times a day ( I think ) I am mostly confused about getting the powder out of the one tablet and split for 3 doses and how to go about that . Weighing , processing etc

I want to do this as the best I can

Thank you

my only med is 150 mg XL taken at 8:15 am everyday

Is your bupropion XR in a capsule or a tablet?

If it's a tablet, you can cut it with a pill cutter or a sharp knife. To get a consistent dose as you taper, you probably will want to get a digital scale to weigh the pieces. See Using a scale to weigh and measure doses

@Altostrata thank you for your reply.
it is a tablet so I would cut it into thirds ? To take three times a day ? Would I take with the coating still on it ?

Yes, cut it with the coating on it.

@Altostrata thank you for the info . You have seen others taper off this way ? I am mostly scared of the jump from one a day xl to the three  a day cut up pill ….. but I know there is know way to tell how I will react . I am still very destabilized from the antibiotic setback so very wary but want so badly to start to get off this poison ……
