Capol88: Hello, wanted to ask a question

Hello everyone! I'm only interested in full recovery ( mental and physical wise ) and wanted to ask You all a question concerning this. Hope somebody more experienced can help me.

It's been 34 days since I got out of the hospital ( entered 2017-06-16, got out 2017-07-07, so overall 21 days, hospitalized for the first time in my life, before that I was in perfect physical and cognitive shape, morphology before administering drugs also great ).

The "medicine" I took was ( max dosages for a day ): Haloperidol 50 mg, Relanium 1 capsule ad hoc, Depakine Chrono 600 mg, Pernazinum 75 mg and, as a bonus, Captopril ( no dosage specified ).

The side effects for present are as follows: NEUROLOGICAL Quite big loss of hearing, especially lower tones, tinnitus ( noticed it got gradually worse, day by day, after quitting all medication "cold turkey" style, since I'm against any type of drugs ), lack of concentration, memory, spacial orientation, trouble having to walk in a straight line, bouncing off of objects, weird smell sensations OTHER Loss of libido, urine pressure, probably something with pancreas, because my stool is smelly, sticky after mixing fats with carbohydrates, color brown or a little darker brown.

Are those changes with hearing and brain permanent? ( not worrying about lower parts for now like intestines and testicles ). Is 20 days ( 20, because first didn't count ) long enough to make serious damage with these drugs/dosages? I'll be very grateful for any feedback or advice.

Hi Capol, welcome to SA.

To answer your question, no, they are not permanent but will take time to get better.  Can I ask what led you to being hospitalised? I was sent to hospital and sectioned after I had a breakdown during a very stressful time. I needed rest and sleep with a high dose of tender loving care and got drugs and ECT!

It is good that you took control but you will need to be careful and take good care of yourself. Eat fresh food where possible, taking care of the gut is the fastesrt way to heal. Avoid processed food and food/drinks with additives. Avoid alcohol ( yes, all alcohol, it isn't forever ;) ). Caffeine, energy drinks and recreational drugs if you take any. There is no judgement here but people need to be aware that when the nervous system is unstable any kind of drug or stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol have an adverse effect. Doctors often see this as mental illness and off to the hospital we go.

You are suffering from adverse reactions to the drugs which are very similar symptoms to withdrawal, both caused by the nervous system being unstable. Your body is struggling to regain homeostasis but it has an incredible ability to repair itself.

Most people find that fish oil and magnesium calm the nervous system.

Hello mammaP and thank You for answering.

I see You are very active here helping other people out, and usually it's the other way around, we want to take not give, so appreciate it. Added the signature as suggested.

The reason I've been put in was silly. I live with my parents ( financially independent ) and one of them, my "father", came back drunk home, which got me a little angry, then my "mother" called the guys and they took me away... Both of them have personality disorders ( she is a sociopath and he's a histrionic ). Complete failures.

Felt another little step forward when writing yesterday, like improved memory, concentration, sharpness.

As my hearing was always perfect, would even say too sensitive ( could hear any conversations, from long distances, behind objects ), I had a look at valproic acid and it's side effects

Medical director gave me Depakote ( maybe from day 4-5, don't remember ) even though I told them clearly I don't have any history with epilepsy...

Are you off everything now? It is frightening how someone can be locked up and drugged against their will based entirely on someone elses story. it is 2017 and still happening.

They regularly give epilepsy drugs as mood stabilisers, also for pain sometimes. They don't always tell the patient what they really are or that they will have problems on stopping them.  I'm glad that writing made you feel better. We sometimes see the difference in people the way they write their updates, we can see they have improved before they are even aware of it and it is really nice to see people getting better.

I can imagine how this has affected your hearing. I can't stand loud noises. Music irritates me after a few minutes and my hearing is not 100%. In this state lots of us have found that we are hyper sensitive. Gentle to moderate exercise is good for hypersensitivity.

Yes, got off everything immediately ( they used Haldol + Pernazinum + Diazepam initially based on mothers statement, although everybody knows I don't and never did have schizophrenia, valproic acid was added later after my interview with the psychologist, which apparently didn't turn out too good ). Always been against any form of drugs/poison, and always against psychiatry, especially when I know you can heal anything naturally. Proper nutrition + proper psychological/mental work, nothing else. Life is simple or at least could be if we understood each other better.

Remember watching patients dumbed-down with bloated guts. Young guys, you could see it was because of this "medication", probably insulin issues from heavy sugar spikes...

I came in there about 83-84kg with quite a bit of muscle mass, now I'm at 74, after a 5 day water fast and general cleaning.

Forgot to ask, since You mentioned hearing is not 100%. Is it because You took something lately?
