Yes you need to talk to the doctor about it.

It is difficult to understand if you are taking prednisolone tablets or eye drops which contain prednisolone.

Prednisolone is a steroid.  We have members here at SA who have experienced issues taking prednisolone tablets by mouth.

Colonial had issues with antiobiotic eye drops which were NOT a steriod.  The following is the link to a search I did for posts which Colonial made where she mentioned eye drops.

https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/search/?&q=eye drops&author=Colonial&search_and_or=and

I do NOT know if the eye drops are causing your issue.  If you had an eye operation then it might be related to the eye operation and not the other medications.  However from the information I have provided above about prednisolone tablets and antibiotic eye drops then there is a possibility that the eye drops are causing your issue.

If you were taking / using other medications that it is difficult to know what is causing the issues.

@Colonial

hi I was directed to a post where you talked about withdrawal from eye drops, I'm going through that right now after I had cataract removal ,I've been on three different eye drops prednisolone, moxifloxcin and ketorolac the last 2 was finish on the 29th of September, right away I felt sick, when I had told my dr, she told me to stop taken them but I had like 3 days for the two and I thought it would defeat the purpose, I continued till the 29th of September.

I am setting sicker just on the prednisolone, so today I will not take it, I suppose to be on it till the 20th of October,  the October 7th would start the next week for 2x a day, then the week after that would have been the last week at 1x a day. I'm just looking support cause there's nothing I can do now, but if you have anything to share with me going forward, I would appreciated it. I love learning.

I'm going to get in touch with my Dr today to let her know how sick I am and to hear what she will say once I told her I stop taking it.

if its the antibiotic i finsihed that on the 29th of september,

so i dont know, caiuse i been taken the prednisolone  and i kept getting more sick. i really dont know which is the one thats im in withdrawal in.

i've been holding my taper since 2020 now this happened.

Can you tell me what you did while in withdrawal if you don't mind. I'm looking for support at this time and any suggestions will be appreciated....I can't sleep.....thanks again..

Be well

Moxifloxacin is used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics.

Hi there.

The quinolone family of anti biotics are know for a whole host on nasty reactions, both for the average member of society and WD suffers.  Many people who suffer WD have terrible waves using quinolone anti-biotics.

Steroids are another very powerful and symptom producing drug.  I had a reaction to prednisone so bad, PRE WD, that I had to be hospitalized longer than necessarily due to the amnesia and other neurological effects they caused.

If you were and still are taking one or both, you need to stop sooner than later. Call your doctor ASAP and let him know You are having a typical a steroid induced reaction and ask him if your dose is low enough that you can stop it immediately without risk of cardiac arrest or how to make a faster taper to be off in a few days.  You can't just stop prednisone without checking with your doctor but you can reduce the dose faster than the projected treatment plan.

If your having an adverse effect, and the doctor tells you to stop, that is what you have to do, continuing to take them is worse than continuing to take a med for another 3 days.

thanks for your reply, the llittlest word can mean a lot to us when we're looking for the right word that make us see and understand things that's not in our thoughts and the light bulb goes off and we then gets it.  Thank you guys.

I did go back to my eye Dr. on October 8th which was last Friday  and I informed her about my bad reaction to the prednisone that I was experiencing while taking my sleeping pill trazodone,

She had advised me to stop the prednisone the following  Monday, October 11th and only take 1 drop a day, instead of the 2 drops a day, and when I put it in my eye, she told me to press in the corner of my eye so the drop don't go to my brains, but down inside my nose, {that was interesting to say the least],

By this Thursday October 14th, I was feeling really, really bad with a bad wave of withdrawal, and I'm still In the wave, I'm glad that I have people in this site that knows and understand many different things on here, thanks to pure knowledge and other people experiences.

I respect this place and everyone here,  I feel I can come here and get the honest and truthful answers that drs that go to school and get paid to help the sick can't help us....i admired the knowledge of the different things pertaining to withdrawal from this site and just knowing this place and I freely can come here just make me feel well even if I'm not...You guys know so much more than an actual doctor that went to college and got a degree.

EACH ONE TEACH ONE.  Good day my surviving members..  I love this place

Ive been on the site a lot the pass few days just reading different things, I read your website and how you to took half of your pill and it was an interesting piece, I too made a big error in my doses, began to taper much less than my actual mg, and manymoretodays saw the error and was helping me out of WD. I've been doing good at my taper until my eye surgery and interacting with eye drops causing me  right now ito be n WD. I love your stories, interesting piece.

People do not like clicking on links in emails because they might contain a virus.  I wanted the email to be short enough that people would read it.  But I also wanted to provide more information.

Hi street129,

Just coming over to your thread here as you were asking me something in someone else’s thread.

You asked if I had a choice what sleeping tablets I would take. I don’t know anything much about sleeping tablets, but I personally wouldn’t take them. You might have to ask someone else that question. I’m really sick with different health problems, plus coping with withdrawals, I wouldn’t want to add anything else into the mix.

I did get the first vaccine a month ago though, as I really had to. Both my doctor and natural therapist said that I might not survive Covid if I got it because of my lungs. Even with the vaccine I don’t know what my survival rate would be.

The first vaccine really flared up my autoimmune condition which affects my lungs and I’ve really been struggling to breathe. I’m not looking forward to getting the second one, as the antibodies will be at an all time high and attacking my lungs even more. They think my lungs are foreign and need to be destroyed.

I really try to avoid any medications unless they are absolutely necessary.

Have you tried some other things to help you sleep? Do you block out the blue light in the evening and make sure you get light first thing in the morning. I wear glasses and I’ve just got blue light blocking clip ons that I put over them.

Have you tried going to bed and getting up at the same time every morning?

I hope you’re feeling a bit better soon🤗

Been on antipsychotics, benzos, ADs and opiates for chronic pain.

Was cold turkeyed and put on and off lots of things. Was suicidal n ended up in a psych ward due to akathisia from WDs. When released I still had severe akathisia n was suicidal. Back to the ward and more meds. Tapered off one and have been trying to taper off Seroquel since. Many years of tapering.

@manymoretodays

it's 3;53am the heat in my back is so bad That I've been waking up during the night and can't go back to sleep.

I'm getting worse with my WD from the day of coming to the board with my eye surgery situation and using my 3 eye drops.  I am experiencing lots of shaken, ringing in my ear, nauseousness during the day, I suck on mints, and just feeling bad than back in 2020 with these new symptoms that I never had before'

manymoretoday I really believe I need to updose to at lease a 4%. After a week if nothing changes I can then rule out it's from the meds in the eyedrops.  Can I please have the mg in weight for that please, I've been at 81mg for almost a year in november. Can this be the cause of WD?

Is this WD is happening for staying so long at 81mg.  I have these questions and I want to try the updose. I have gotten more sick each day.

Your thoughts,

Hi, I got my laptop blue light screen protectors from amazon.

I thought you did get it from Amason. What don't they sell. Lol  Thanks.

I just want to ask you a quick question, since you first reply to me about the eyedrops I have notice my WD has taking a turn for the worst, my WD is really bad. I am having difficulty staying asleep, heat in my back, Nauseous, shaken, I have no appetite amount others.

I I might need to updose 5%  a little from my 81mg of trazadone that I've been steady on for almost a year. Need to rule that out.

Manymoretodays usually talk with and guide me in directions in what could work. and is very, very good at what she does, but right now she's doing and taking care of her. She's not around.

Can you tell me how much is 5% in weight to updose from 81mg. of trazadone,  I need to rule out that adding the updose is not the cause of my sudden WD., after a week if nothing changes I will then know that is not the cause of my horrible WD.

I woke around 3;15 am, and I can't fall back.  I go to bed at 1am nightly as I take my pill then. I'm gonna take .50 of melatonin to see if I could get some shut-eye

I crush my tablets to make my pills. I never had this type of math in my school,  so I've been getting help from frogie also, I'm not American.

Thanks if you can help me figure out what is going on with me and this withdraw and for me to narrow down the course, it is something I welcome.

I don't know how to do the weight,

81mg is 457. 5% of that to updose is how much?

Im trying to figure the cause of being in WD  that has gotten worse.

in the begining on the site I started tapering from 100mg instead of my  250mg, of trazadone, it was a big error, but someone found the error and it was about 6 months in tapering at 100mg, I was told it's not wise to have jump back to 250mg, so this is where I'm at.

Thanks for listening.

Thank you.

I created the website as a link to an email campaign that I did contacting medical professionals by email.

People do not like clicking on links in emails because they might contain a virus.  I wanted the email to be short enough that people would read it.  But I also wanted to provide more information.

Here is the topic about my campaign:

I definition would be looking into this, but  right now my WD has taken a turn for the worst, so many symptoms.

I need to try something to rule out the cause of suddenly going into WD, I know I have accepted it could be the eyedrops, but I'm wondering if a 5% updose after a week will stop this WD. I'm trying to rule this out.

I don't know 5% in weight to updose from 81mg , never had this in school, can you tell me what it is, right now my weight is 457, frogie would help with is also, but they are scares. I need help.

Thanks if you can help.   I'm getting  people's attention in helping me math wise, I've been up since 3am, you know how this goes. Can't go back to see. I'm going to take .50 of melatonin and hoping for some shut eyes.

I do not think an updose will help you

It may make you worse.

Updoses are helpful when the symptoms are from dropping too much med too fast.

Your symptoms are from adverse reactions to the eye drops, antibiotics and  steroids.

You have been stable at this dose for a long time.

Changing it for a reason not related to why you are feeling poorly is likely a mistake.

Just tag me and I’d be happy to help you.

But Colonial is right, you don’t want to updose when you e been doing so well on this dose. I think as Colonial does it’s the steriod eye drops giving you the symptoms.

Hang in there. You’ll see light at the end of the tunnel very soon again.

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996.

Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I am not a medical professional.

The suggestions I make are based on personal experience.

Steroids can be nasty to some peoples CNS. Unfortunately you are in that category. But you’ll feel better soon. I’m here, not going anywhere. Hang in there. Maybe take a walk and enjoy the fall colors and cooler weather. Sometimes that helps clear my mind.

Hi Alto

can you assist me please.

I ran into a situation that just happen to me after I had cataract removal in September23rd 2021, and your words of wisdow would be appreciated.

My eye Dr put me on prednisone and 2 other eye drops, Immediately I went into withdrawal and as of right now I'm still in that state, but I don't know if it's from the eye drops, I've been stable on my dose 81mg of trazodone for a year coming in November, could this be the cause of me in WD?

I'm only human and the best person to ask this is the creator of this forum. Thank you.

Hi @DataGuy

I've been here for 4 years off and on, I just saw a post to someone about WD, Im going through that right now since after Sept 23, due to no fault of mines, was put on  prednisone and members said it could be from the steroid, my question is I notice my WD comes on heavy around 4-5 am and unable to go back to sleep, is it normal for WD get really bad during such hours?  I would love your input, you can also check out my page if you like.

Be well

@Gridley

hi, I'm in WD no cause of my doing,

a quick question since I've been very stable at my taper for almost a year, this WD THAT I'm experiencing that came does it has anything to do with  not tapering.   I just had eye surgery removal of cataract in my left eye, Dr gave me prednisone, members said my WD could be from that, maybe Alto can put in her 2 cents on my situation so I can know where I'm at, my WD gets really bad like around 4-5 am every morning.  Helping me I can know if the WD is from being at my stable taper or something else how can I get to know.

Thanks for any idea you might have on this.

@street129 looks like you've gotten some good advice here from @Frogie and @Colonial.

Yes, it is very normal for wd to be bad right when you wake up. I believe we have more than one topic on that issue. Here is the main one.

I don't have time to read your entire thread, but I can tell you that yes, steroids like prednisone can cause big problems, and not just for people in withdrawal. Here is an article about the adverse nervous system effects of corticosteroids: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3853679/

Prednisone could definitely be your part of what is causing the issue.

"Abstract

Corticosteroids have been used since the 50s as anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive drugs for the treatment of several pathologies such as asthma, allergy, rheumatoid arthritis, and dermatological disorders. Corticosteroids have three principal mechanisms of action: 1) inhibit the synthesis of inflammatory proteins blocking NF-kB, 2) induce the expression of anti-inflammatory proteins by IkB and MAPK phosphatase I, and 3) inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase-2. The efficacy of glucocorticoids in alleviating inflammatory disorders results from the pleiotropic effects of the glucocorticoid receptors on multiple signaling pathways. However, they have adverse effects: Growth retardation in children, immunosuppression, hypertension, hyperglycemia, inhibition of wound repair, osteoporosis, metabolic disturbances, glaucoma, and cataracts. Less is known about psychiatric or side effects on central nervous system, as catatonia, decreased concentration, agitation, insomnia, and abnormal behaviors, which are also often underestimated in clinical practice. The aim of this review is to highlight the correlation between the administration of corticosteroids and CNS adverse effects, giving a useful guide for prescribers including a more careful assessment of risk factors and encourage the use of safer doses of this class of drugs."

Remeron - 2004-2005 (bad withdrawal)

Clonazepam - 2005-2018 (jumped around March)

Olanzapine - 2014- late 2017

Domperidone - 2008-2018

Many drugs in between including Lexapro, other benzos and z-drugs.

Still suffering post-withdrawal from Clonazepam (Klonopin), Olanzapine and Domperidone.

No I really think it’s because of the steroids. Maybe try taking a little melatonin when you wake up, that may help to go back to sleep. My sleep pattern is not normal at all. There are nights I might sleep a couple hours and then nights I might sleep 5-7 hours. No one’s sleep is consistent.

When youre living along and going through WD alone, you would think by now it would come easy to bare, it's not.

I've been doing very good before this happened, just going about my day, now here I am again. I'm back looking for surport,  not much people are around.  it's scares in here now before I left in November 2020.

I have patience. But  will you help me if I need updosing 4% in weight or would you help me only in decreasing when time comes. I would appreciate that

Hi @street129,

I am one of the lesser experts when it comes to pill weight vs active ingredient stuff, so maybe another moderator can confirm? But I assume if you want to updose by 4% you would multiply by 1.04. So 1.04 X 457 = 475.28. Does that sound right?
