Hi JS

i just wanted to say hello. I've read your posts. I'm sorry for what you're going through with these poisons. 

I am in the same boat as you. I've upped and downed my lexapro several times in the last few months and added new drugs. I just didn't know. It was under dr supervision. Oh , if I could go back in time!! Hindsight

i am hoping peace and healing for you. You can do this. We can do this. Pretty scary and lonely tho. 

I enjoy your posts. You are so well spoken with a good sense of humor in light of what you're going through. Can't wait to read you in recovery!!!!!

Oh, what kind words, little grandma.  Thank you so very much.  I so needed those this day, as we all do.  A little encouragement means so very much.  I am slowly getting used to how to work this site.  Have posted in the wrong places, quoted people--who do have lovely things to say--but it was mainly because I didn't know you just hit reply.  Sigh.  

 

It is quite amazing isn't it?  The more I read of other people and the many things they have been through, the more I just pause in wonder.  Once it was thought that the world was flat.  How odd a notion to us now.  Maybe some day it will like that with anti-depressants:  People will wonder how anyone could have assumed that these were beneficial.  Maybe there are some who are helped.  I just don't know.  All I know is my own experience and that of the people who are here.  It makes me not feel so very crazy and alone.

 

It is lovely to meet you.  I will check back in.  And, I adore your name!  My mama was compact as well, but no one would ever think of her as being small.  She had such a presence.  I imagine it is that way for you too.

And P.S., the ups and downs and additions are of medications.  Yes, I am trying not to go backwards and say what if, but it is hard when things are difficult.  I have read a few of the posts, haven't replied yet, of those who are doing well.  I keep trying to hold on to that.

I am so sorry you are having similar symptoms to me. The dizziness is awful isn't it?  Things will get better - it will just take time and accepting that each day will be different. I have got used to the symptoms now but to begin with they really frightened me which made everything worse.

 

You asked about liquid tapering. I tapered down Cit with liquid and didn't notice any difference in symptoms to be honest. But everyone is different so it could be affecting you.

So very much going on at the moment, life wise, and as you know, it doesn't help with all the other things.  I have been caring for my dad for a very long time and didn't work for a while.  Now, doing so on a temporary basis.  But that situation is changing. I met with the nurse counselor at my doctor's office today and gave her some of the information about withdrawal as she is studying to be able to become a prescriber herself.  But I think people look at my situation and assume a lot of the symptoms are from that.  True some may be but not to the extent and severity that I am experiencing.  I don't buy it.  I have never felt like this before.   

 

I did have a let up on the dizziness.  Thank goodness.  So far so good.  Kept waking up last night but that may be more because I am unable to open the windows to cool things down as we are surrounded by smoke from all the fires.  So very many of them. The weather has gone crazy.   I have on a fan but it doesn't quite cut it.  And, the noise.  Oh my gosh, I feel like in the movie Superman when he discovers his super hearing.  

Here I am quoting again, but whatever.  I value your opinion greatly, Mort81.  It helps settle my mind to hear your experiences.  Oh now what have I done?  AHHHHHHH..Going to hit reply and try again.

Do you start work tomorrow?  If so I am praying for you!  I know it's tough,  holy cow do I ever!  

 

I'm very sorry about your dad!  That can't be easy   it really can't.  I totally understand the fear part of not being able to support yourself.  I have faced it head on and it's brutal. When you save up for a future and have all that money gone is crushing . I am lucky enough to be with someone and we had money put away, but most of it is gone.  And we lost our place and are living with family.  Not ideal but they have been supportive as can be . 

 

I really hope you get a break in this department.  I don't even know what to say other than take it day by day.  And do your best . Just remember lots of people work in wd . But if you can't don't worry. You may be able to work very soon.  Just do your best , that's all you can control 

 

As far as friends not being around,  for me that would be a godsend . My friends although caring have brought on much more stress in my life.  Same with extended family . Their inability to try and understand drives me bananas . And the repetitive questions .  I totally avoid them.  And it's taken a long time to not care about them.  Something personally I have to do to get better.  I was always a people pleaser so it's tough to know they think I'm nuts and don't understand what I say anymore.  But FThem ! 

 

Very glad the dizzy got better!  Thats good news!  The feelings of guilt I had a long time ago.  But it hit me hard how much of this isn't our fault. So those feelings of guilt changed to anger.  Which is def no better!  Being angry in WD is like picking up a hot coal with the intent on throwing it at someone else.  However there's noone in sight. 

 

If the nurse fives you any credibility id be surprised but worth a try . It's so embedded in their brains about how safe these drugs are and how mentally ill people are etc... but I commend you for doing so . Yes there is no way this is you.  All you have to do is look at your dizzyness or any other insane symptom and ask yourself is this normal? When did I feel like this . 

 

I knew from day 1  and no matter what my idiot doctors told me , I knew they were way off and I couldn't trust them anymore.  I just didn't know the details.   Maybe someone who was drugged their whole life could be fooled that the wd symptoms is them . I dont know , but I was drugged in my late 20s so I knew what life looks like.  And I know the difference.  It's a staggering Extreme difference.  And all doctors need to be ashamed of themselves . If it ever comes out in the public,  they will have to live with what they did .  Here's hoping :)

Was at a movie theatre and the opening credits or previews I was like this is insane , I'm outta here.  Ever since then no malls , restaurants etc.. Hopefully the visual sensitivity doesn't hit u . I've had that in combination.  Where u can't look at any indoor lighting or screens . It's bad very bad!  Those two alone can't knock you on your arse.

Was on 30mg (Lexapro) for 7-8yrs20mg for 3 months (This was my choice my Doc wanted me to drop much faster)15 mg 2week10mg 2 weeks 5 mg 1 week0 since August 24th . PPI Dexlant  30 mg taper has begun. Cutting 20% currently.  using zantac as needed.  Benzo is currently 0.10mg

I PM'd yesterday as hadn't seen you on here. Hope you are doing ok and managing with the upheaval in your life. Speak when you can. Hugs. 

2006 After sudden death of mother put on 20mg of citaloprom for depression. 

2014 Drug stopped working after two weeks of panic attacks felt fine. 

Aug 2014. Doctor put me on lyrica for rash on face, diarrhoea, sleeplessness,muscle cramp, bruising. Initial dose too strong, halved dose.  Stopped taking it 22/10/14

2014 severe anxiety after several ssri's attempted, seem to have developed severe  sensitivity to any drug, but giving severe  reactions put on cipralex drop form.started on 2 drops and had to increase by 1 drop every 3 days. Eventually got to 12 drops and had to stop as side effects every step of the way dreadful. Psychiatrist kept telling me to stick with it and my body would get used to it.  Eventually down to 8 drops. Bad reactions throughout the time I was on it

Have been on this until may 2017. Stopped over two weeks. Felt fine for 5 weeks after initial dizziness, nightmares, nausea, insomnia.  

Given diazepam by gp and told to take them when anxiety bad. Have only taken them very rarely as they frighten me. 

Last two weeks severe anxiety returned and feeling hopeless 

11July 2017. Cipralex 2mg. Anxiety, nausea still severe

13 July 2017 Cipralex 1mg due to advice of too high dosage  by kind person on thus site. so dropped from 2mg to 1mg and feelings of anxiety still at severe. As well as nausea, headaches, fatigue. 

15 July still feeling extremely anxious verging on panic. Nausea, feelings of fainting, fatigue. Lots of head pains 

3 August. Three weeks into trying to stabilise on one drop of cipralex. Still have waking from 4am. Sporadic upset stomach. Nausea.  High anxiety.  Throbbing/burning in nether regions seems to have eased for time being but stabbing/burning in calves of legs. Tinnitus. Occasional half to whole better days but mainly still struggling. Fatigue

 I wish, been in horrible state since last Wednesday and still not coming out of it. Spent most of today a crying anxious heap. Put on a happy face for the baby for an hour this afternoon but very hard.   I read your post the other day and thought it was brilliant you have such a wonderful way with words and all I think about now are hot frogs!   It will be ten weeks in Thursday still fighting for some stability. 

2006 After sudden death of mother put on 20mg of citaloprom for depression. 

2014 Drug stopped working after two weeks of panic attacks felt fine. 

Aug 2014. Doctor put me on lyrica for rash on face, diarrhoea, sleeplessness,muscle cramp, bruising. Initial dose too strong, halved dose.  Stopped taking it 22/10/14

2014 severe anxiety after several ssri's attempted, seem to have developed severe  sensitivity to any drug, but giving severe  reactions put on cipralex drop form.started on 2 drops and had to increase by 1 drop every 3 days. Eventually got to 12 drops and had to stop as side effects every step of the way dreadful. Psychiatrist kept telling me to stick with it and my body would get used to it.  Eventually down to 8 drops. Bad reactions throughout the time I was on it

Have been on this until may 2017. Stopped over two weeks. Felt fine for 5 weeks after initial dizziness, nightmares, nausea, insomnia.  

Given diazepam by gp and told to take them when anxiety bad. Have only taken them very rarely as they frighten me. 

Last two weeks severe anxiety returned and feeling hopeless 

11July 2017. Cipralex 2mg. Anxiety, nausea still severe

13 July 2017 Cipralex 1mg due to advice of too high dosage  by kind person on thus site. so dropped from 2mg to 1mg and feelings of anxiety still at severe. As well as nausea, headaches, fatigue. 

15 July still feeling extremely anxious verging on panic. Nausea, feelings of fainting, fatigue. Lots of head pains 

3 August. Three weeks into trying to stabilise on one drop of cipralex. Still have waking from 4am. Sporadic upset stomach. Nausea.  High anxiety.  Throbbing/burning in nether regions seems to have eased for time being but stabbing/burning in calves of legs. Tinnitus. Occasional half to whole better days but mainly still struggling. Fatigue

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996. 

 Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

 Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

Thank you so much Frogie.  I will definitely take you up on it.  I was glued to this site when I first got here in August, then I moved, went back to work and well, all hell broke loose.  So, I need to start over again and get to know people.  I am headed off to bed now but would love to chat.  I do so appreciate your kindness.

I read through your thread - I really like your writing and sense of humor.  It sounds like you have been through a lot recently. Have you been able to stabilize on Lexapro?  I am in the process of trying to stabilize after a recent updose....not fun.  I see you live in the Pacific Northwest!  I am in Seattle.  Where do you live (you don't have to say on here if you don't feel comfortable; feel free to PM me!).  I hope you have been feeling better!

 

 

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium; vitamin D3; curcumin

Hi,

It was suggested by a truly kind member that I start posting on my thread so as to get to know people and vice-versa, so here it goes.  Although I talk to myself frequently, I must admit it still feels rather odd to send my thoughts out into this virtual universe.  Perhaps this is a withdrawal symptom or just plain ole' me or maybe a combination plate. I find that I just feel incredibly afraid.    

 

I inadvertently made a rather large cut from approximately 5.75 mgs of Escitalopram (This dose is an approximation as weighing the little morsels of pills in hopes of getting an accurate measurement whilst trying not to make any sudden movements, sneeze or otherwise disrupt the process in any way is a laughable prospect.)  So, early one morning, and I DO MEAN EARLY, between 3:30 and 4:30 a.m. the withdrawal witching hours, while trying to ingest my dose, I dropped the .75 ish mg. on the cold, dark wooden floor.  Although I tried to find the little sucker, it was rather a futile task, thusly began day one.  This process continued for a few days.  One would think I might be more careful, but my lack of coordination and forethought seemed to persist until I decided a whole 5mg tablet of Escitalopram would be oh so much easier.  

 

Ummm, not so much.  Throw in some insane life stressors--total change in circumstances--and withdrawal symptoms--some of which were blissfully dormant--are back with the proverbial vengeance. 

 

The anxiety is brutal and so very frightening.  It seems I was getting some relief later in the day, but there have been only slight reprieves. I feel like I want to flee, maybe to outrun it somehow, but there is no where to go.

 

I also have this weird dizzy sensation-not sure what to call it.  Swooning?  My head feels tingly.  I'm not light-headed exactly  but I am also constantly aware of every movement, turning, etc. that I make.   It has never gone away completely and frequently just happened in the early morning before I got out of bed.  Now, it seems to last longer. Sometimes it is intermittent; sometimes not.  And,  just that deep, dark dread and inner loneliness which truly scares me.  Having perspective is so very difficult.  Some days, it is all I can do to stay upright.  Tears come easily and often.  

 

I have been listening to something called Binaural beats on Amazon Prime.  They are subliminal and have a variety of subjects.  They do seem to quiet the terror somewhat.

I am so sorry to hear about what you've been going through - the way you describe the anxiety is so spot on.  It sounds like things had gotten better before the drop? I am hopeful that your symptoms will go back down as your brain adjusts to the drop to 5 mg, hopefully soon!

Yes, things had gotten better.  I need to see if my insurance will cover compounding as I have had such a bad reaction to the prescription liquid.  

 

I am going to hold a while and so hope that things settle down.

Hi js11

i am so sorry you are experiencing another round of brutal symptoms due to cutting your dose.  Hang in there and hopefully over the next few days they will lessen for you. You are such a fighter and even with your domestic problems you still keep going, this will be no different my friend you will get better days. 

2006 After sudden death of mother put on 20mg of citaloprom for depression. 

2014 Drug stopped working after two weeks of panic attacks felt fine. 

Aug 2014. Doctor put me on lyrica for rash on face, diarrhoea, sleeplessness,muscle cramp, bruising. Initial dose too strong, halved dose.  Stopped taking it 22/10/14

2014 severe anxiety after several ssri's attempted, seem to have developed severe  sensitivity to any drug, but giving severe  reactions put on cipralex drop form.started on 2 drops and had to increase by 1 drop every 3 days. Eventually got to 12 drops and had to stop as side effects every step of the way dreadful. Psychiatrist kept telling me to stick with it and my body would get used to it.  Eventually down to 8 drops. Bad reactions throughout the time I was on it

Have been on this until may 2017. Stopped over two weeks. Felt fine for 5 weeks after initial dizziness, nightmares, nausea, insomnia.  

Given diazepam by gp and told to take them when anxiety bad. Have only taken them very rarely as they frighten me. 

Last two weeks severe anxiety returned and feeling hopeless 

11July 2017. Cipralex 2mg. Anxiety, nausea still severe

13 July 2017 Cipralex 1mg due to advice of too high dosage  by kind person on thus site. so dropped from 2mg to 1mg and feelings of anxiety still at severe. As well as nausea, headaches, fatigue. 

15 July still feeling extremely anxious verging on panic. Nausea, feelings of fainting, fatigue. Lots of head pains 

3 August. Three weeks into trying to stabilise on one drop of cipralex. Still have waking from 4am. Sporadic upset stomach. Nausea.  High anxiety.  Throbbing/burning in nether regions seems to have eased for time being but stabbing/burning in calves of legs. Tinnitus. Occasional half to whole better days but mainly still struggling. Fatigue

this wd is so cruel. I tapered this morning, with hands shaking uncontrollably. I know exactly what you mean. And though I shouldn’t feel any additional side effects yet, on day one, I am exactly as you describe. Kind of a hangover but still drunk feeling. Dazed and confused. Wobbly. And cannot form a rational thought. I can’t even get my thoughts away from this whole withdrawal process. 

It is dark and lonely and such despair. 

 

We have no choice, unfortunately, but to keep going forward. This is certainly no way to live. I only hope symptoms will lessen for you in a few days.   Take care. Lg

I thought I was following you and somehow it turns out I wasn't, so my apologies for my delayed answer.  I couldn't have said it better, "the withdrawal witching hours."  And it appears that I am right in the witching hours with this post.

Ah, know this sensation well. Luckily it hasn't been with me for a while, but I haven't forgotten how dreadful it was. It's amazing how many different symptoms we can get from one drug, isn't it? 

 

Let's see, your last cut was December 1 and it's now December 31 and you got increased WD symptoms on Dec. 23. Sounds like you are right on schedule.  Hang in there, it will eventually start to diminish..  Have you found any pattern to your symptoms when you do cut?  For example, for me it's usually 3 to 6 days after a cut that I start to experience symptoms, and from the day I start to experience symptoms it's usually a week to 10 days until they start to diminish, but then there is what I call an "after bump."  The symptoms clear up but then they come in for one more last hurrah of punishment. If you can't find any pattern don't be too surprised either, a lot of people don't have a pattern. I do know though that it helped me psychology once I was able to find I did have a pattern and then was able to figure out what was coming next. I had to keep an excel spread sheet to find my pattern.

 

By the way, congrats on getting to 5 mg. I am always happiest when I am parked on a full number. I hate when I get stuck on a percentage.  I can see why you wanted off of the 5.75 mg. 5 mg is a good number and it sounds like a good place to rest while waiting for everything to settle down. You worked very hard to get here so a big applause to you.

 

By the way happy New Year.  I hope that whatever you are doing, even if you are doing nothing, you find yourself in a state of calm and withdrawal symptoms at a minimum.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts, Froggie.  Yes, it caught up with me.  When the symptoms die down, I know I will be so very glad to be on a dose that isn't so tricky to manage, but until then, ugh. 

 

I hope you are doing well.  Any New Year's Eve plans?  Never been much of a wild reveler myself, amateur holiday, and I was always a professional, but I do like to stick my head out the door and hear the pots and pans banging, yelling and such.  I also must find my sparklers.  They are illegal here, but I will walk on the wild side and light one wishing for a New Year of continued recovery for us all.

I am so very sorry you are suffering as well.  I see you are on 4.8 mgs. of Lexapro.  Good for you!  Each little step seems like such a victory even though victory does come at a high price it seems.  

 

 I was attempting not to quote everything and then erased your signature altogether so will have to go check on your thread to look at your it again.

 

Do you get prescription liquid Lex or are you a skilled chemist and make your own or do you break off little bits and pieces and weigh like I was doing?   If you have this information on your thread, forgive me, I am trying to read up on people and find I have to re-read often as my short-term memory is heavy on the short presently.

 

I hopefully will start barrage of phone calls with the insurance company to see if I can get my RX compounded.  NOT that I will be cutting again soon, but that way, hopefully I will be prepared.

Ummm, not so much.  Throw in some insane life stressors--total change in circumstances--and withdrawal symptoms--some of which were blissfully dormant--are back with the proverbial vengeance. 

 

The anxiety is brutal and so very frightening.  It seems I was getting some relief later in the day, but there have been only slight reprieves. I feel like I want to flee, maybe to outrun it somehow, but there is no where to go.

 

I also have this weird dizzy sensation-not sure what to call it.  Swooning?  My head feels tingly.  I'm not light-headed exactly  but I am also constantly aware of every movement, turning, etc. that I make.   It has never gone away completely and frequently just happened in the early morning before I got out of bed.  Now, it seems to last longer. Sometimes it is intermittent; sometimes not.  And,  just that deep, dark dread and inner loneliness which truly scares me.  Having perspective is so very difficult.  Some days, it is all I can do to stay upright.  Tears come easily and often.  

 

I have been listening to something called Binaural beats on Amazon Prime.  They are subliminal and have a variety of subjects.  They do seem to quiet the terror somewhat.  

 

So, thank you for listening.  I hope everyone is well and having a good New Year's Eve celebration where ever that might be.

I feel so out of this website because I am not cutting. I am trying to reinstate. I wish I felt more confident in what I’m doing. It seems like everyone on here is very confident that they are doing the right thing. They are seeing results incrementally. I feel so out there and alone. I’m not even sure reinstating is working. It’s been so rough. I am fighting very hard not to give in, but it’s really hard.  I was on effexor for years and years. I am 67. I’ve acted like a complete fool during the last few months. I’m figuring it’s because of the withdrawal. And trying so much stuff under the doctor’s direction. Blind trust. Stupidity. 

 

2001 Remeron , Celexa, prozac a week on lithium. 

2014 went off effexor and trazadone in 3 weeks. 

2014 zoloft (hyper reaction) put on effexor 75 mg. Was stable until 2017 

2017  Trazadone 50 mg (June) Effexor to 113 mg (2 weeks) Effexor 150 mg for a month . Took 75 mg until November. . Lithium 10 days, Lamactil 10 day  aug-nov15 ativan

October : Prozac bridge to get off 75 mg of effexor Used 10 mg of prozac. Stopped prozac 3 wk 

Dec 6, 7 Upped trazadone from 50 to 100 mg Did it for 3 days Stopped it

Dec 7 , Dec 8 Took prozac again 0.1 , 0.1, 0.6 stopped it

Dec 11 and Dec 12 upped it to 100 again

Dec 15 , 16,17 went back to 50 mg of trazadone

December 18 Began 3 beads of effexor  Dec 25 began 5 beads of effexor take 10 mg of omneprazole daily

my insurance didn’t pay for the compounded lex I was using at one time. I just started using the liquid yesterday. 

 

I did try making my own liquid. A chemist I am not. I think it’s what got me into trouble. I reduced to7.5 by cutting pills. Then I tried to make my own liquid. Apparently didn’t do that correctly.  I updosed and updosed til I got back to 10 mg and all you know what broke loose. 

 

My memory is shot, as well. I have dp/dr everyday. It is terrifying and the biggest source of my depression. But I cry at the drop of a hat for no apparent reason..... except for the fact I’m scared and tired of living like this. 

 

Good luck with the insurance company. Dealing with them is depressing and anxiety causing in itself.

I never made it to London for New Year’s Eve but used to regularly go out with a group of married couples each year to a ‘do’ and at midnight would all be by the sea and listen to the foghorns of the ships and ferries and fireworks going off at midnight. This year as you know tucked up on the settee with a disappointing mug of lemon juice and honey - not the most alluring tipple for midnight so gave in and drinking it at 10pm. 

 

You make sure you enjoy your evening with with your friend and see the new year  in for me too.  I will shake my front doormat and send a wish for you to have a brilliant new year. ( Another barmy old English custom). .  

2006 After sudden death of mother put on 20mg of citaloprom for depression. 

2014 Drug stopped working after two weeks of panic attacks felt fine. 

Aug 2014. Doctor put me on lyrica for rash on face, diarrhoea, sleeplessness,muscle cramp, bruising. Initial dose too strong, halved dose.  Stopped taking it 22/10/14

2014 severe anxiety after several ssri's attempted, seem to have developed severe  sensitivity to any drug, but giving severe  reactions put on cipralex drop form.started on 2 drops and had to increase by 1 drop every 3 days. Eventually got to 12 drops and had to stop as side effects every step of the way dreadful. Psychiatrist kept telling me to stick with it and my body would get used to it.  Eventually down to 8 drops. Bad reactions throughout the time I was on it

Have been on this until may 2017. Stopped over two weeks. Felt fine for 5 weeks after initial dizziness, nightmares, nausea, insomnia.  

Given diazepam by gp and told to take them when anxiety bad. Have only taken them very rarely as they frighten me. 

Last two weeks severe anxiety returned and feeling hopeless 

11July 2017. Cipralex 2mg. Anxiety, nausea still severe

13 July 2017 Cipralex 1mg due to advice of too high dosage  by kind person on thus site. so dropped from 2mg to 1mg and feelings of anxiety still at severe. As well as nausea, headaches, fatigue. 

15 July still feeling extremely anxious verging on panic. Nausea, feelings of fainting, fatigue. Lots of head pains 

3 August. Three weeks into trying to stabilise on one drop of cipralex. Still have waking from 4am. Sporadic upset stomach. Nausea.  High anxiety.  Throbbing/burning in nether regions seems to have eased for time being but stabbing/burning in calves of legs. Tinnitus. Occasional half to whole better days but mainly still struggling. Fatigue

Oh Downbutnotout,

 

I'm so sorry that you feel that way but I think reinstating or cutting a dose, is so very individual.  What works for one person doesn't always work for another.  It is hard for me to feel confident either and I don't know if there is one "right" thing.  

 

A few months before I found this website, I was at a loss as to what to do.  I was suffering so from the withdrawal symptoms of trying to get off medications, but I didn't know that that is what it was.  They were terrifying and truly unbearable,  so once again I listened to the doctor and finally succumbed to yet another medication, and then 3 others in rapid succession. Some were to help with the withdrawal from the previous medication that was causing the horrible symptoms.  The results were horrific, but led me here.  Something I am truly thankful for as I now know there are others who understand.    

 

The more I read on this site, the more I see that my situation is not unique.  That is very comforting to me.  What also happened from the previous withdrawal that I began with my doctor's knowledge but truly on my own was that I became sensitized to just about everything I touch--medicines, vitamins, food and yes, life in general it often seems.   You are right, it is not an easy journey.  I have been on anti-depressants over half my life and there have been many, many days when I want to give up as well as it seems.  But the thing I DO have now, is this website and the kind souls who are here offering support and information, which has been difficult for me to ask for, but has been offered so graciously.  

 

I know you are feeling alone.  I do know that feeling so well.  But you are reaching out.  That is a good thing.  There is so much wisdom here.  

 

And again, as for reinstating,  I have been on medications almost half of my life.  I have increased my dose, cut it, added additional medicines, changed medications and tried to go cold turkey only to come running back again.  I have done it all. 

You have gone from 3 beads of Effexor on December 18 to 5 beads on December 25, which is 6 days.  I know 6 days can seem like an eternity, but from what I have read, time is what is needed.  

 

Someone just posted on my thread asking if my symptoms had a pattern.  I was much better at keeping track of them when I was half-crazed, but will be more diligent now.  I do know that in the past there was a pattern.  There are checklists on this site too.  You might ask for help on your thread as the moderators are so very good at posting links.  I wish I knew how but not yet.  

 

It is so much easier for me to say this to someone else than it often is for me to hear it when someone says it to me, but please be kind to yourself.  This is tough stuff.  Truly.

July 2021:  Took last dose of Escitalopram .02mg.  Do dah!

Current:   Synthroid/Generic 100mcg decreased November, 2018  (TSH has changed 5 times since August 30, 2018 resulting in both Hyper and hypothyroid symptoms.)  November 1, 2018, increased Adderall XR to 10mg to combat brain fog after decrease in Synthroid.

I hope you are doing well.  Any New Year's Eve plans?  Never been much of a wild reveler myself, amateur holiday, and I was always a professional, but I do like to stick my head out the door and hear the pots and pans banging, yelling and such.  I also must find my sparklers.  They are illegal here, but I will walk on the wild side and light one wishing for a New Year of continued recovery for us all.

I know exactly how you feel. I'll be so glad when the Lexapro nightmare is over. Then I have Xanax to deal with.

 

No New Years Eve plans. My fiancé and I are not partiers. We are watching football and doing laundry right now. My fiancé is going to make steaks (he is a much better cook than me), and he does most of the cooking especially on the weekends. We probably won't even make it to midnight. We were in bed before 8:30 last night.

 

So, Happy New Year! I hope it finds all of us in an easy taper, with few symptoms, and feeling well.

P.S. And me not making huge mistakes in my tapering like I did in the last couple of months lol...

PREVIOUS medications and discontinuations: Have been on medications since 1996. 

 Valium, Gabapentin, Lamictal, Prilosec and Zantac from 2000 to 2015 with a fast taper by a psychiatrist.

 Liquid Lexapro Nov, 2016 to 31-March, 2019 Lexapro free!!! (total Lexapro taper was 4 years-started with pill form)

---CURRENT MEDICATIONS:Supplements:Milk Thistle, Metamucil, Magnesium Citrate, Vitamin D3, Levothyroxine 25mcg, Vitamin C, Krill oil.

Xanax 1mg 3x day June, 2000 to 19-September, 2020 Went from .150 grams (average weight of 1 Xanax) 3x day to .003 grams 3x day. April 1, 2021 went back on 1mg a day. Started tapering May 19, 2023. July 28, 2023-approximately .87mg. Dr. fast tapered me at the end and realized he messed up. Prescribe it again and I am doing "slower than a turtle" taper.

19-September, 2020 Xanax free!!! (total Xanax taper was 15-1/2 months-1-June, 2019-19-September, 2020)

I'm sorry that you will not be hearing the foghorns this year, but I am so hoping that your tipple will do the trick and that you will awaken on the first day of 2018 with much healing.
