you are probably right.

The 15 ml bottles would be handy for carrying your dose.  But perhaps a squat bottle with a wide mouth would be better for the extraction.  I have some lip goo jars that would be just right.

Good to see you're thinking this through (I've never done a liquid taper).

Today we drove a u-haul to Brooklyn to gather furniture from my old apartment ( that son now lives in and is rent stabilized but he is giving it up). It was a hard day. That apartment is where I raised them, Brooklyn is where I got sober. I have so many friends there. And now my connection is cut as he leaves this apartment. Which for so many reasons I think is a big mistake. But I can’t change his mind. And daughter is moving out of the home I live in now at the beginning of August. It feels like so many changes. Too many. I feel rocked today. Driving all the way there. Being in the apartment for the last time. Gathering stuff for daughters move. Just trying to feel grounded again.

Hi DMV,

Im sorry that this situation is so stressful for you, stress certainly doesn’t help the withdrawals. One thing I’ve learnt in life is that it always changes. It may take a while to get grounded again but you will get there.

You could still go and visit your friends in the old neighbourhood occasionally or give them a ring or write. I’m in contact with lots of friends that don’t live near me. Distance doesn’t have to end friendships.

I’m sure you’ll miss your daughter once she moves out but you can stay in contact with her too. That’s not much consolation now I know as everything feels like it’s being upturned. You will eventually feel grounded again, it just takes time to process. When in withdrawals too all our problems seemed heightened as well.

Take care, sending hugs🤗

@JanCarol @Shep @manymoretodays I think I need dose spacing help. I seem to have an anxiety dip around 11am everyday. I think this is due to the Geoden wearing off from the 7:30PM dose the night before COMBINED with the anxiety I get from Vyvanse dose in the morning (which I would like to drop). The Geoden is split in two now (11AM and 7:30PM) , but maybe do I need to split it in three? If so, how? It must be taken with a meal. I would really like to get rid of the 11Am terrors. Please help.

Hi DMV,

I am going to say NO, NO, NO to any further alterations in your present cocktail of medications.  You are not even a month out from your updose of Saphris.  And don't just go dropping off your Vyvanse dose either right now.  Okay?

JC's plan was to have you go down 0.15 mg in the Saphris dosage next by using a dry cut and your scale.  I think you best wait another couple of weeks on that though, as your updose was on the 4th of June.  And then you are still working on gathering equipment as well, for when you go to liquid........ after I believe, the next 2 dry tapers.

And........I don't think any further split of the Geodon is going to do much more than confuse us ALL further, as well as add to your present anxiety.

I think we've got to get you away from wanting to change something, anything, with each wave of anxiety.  When do you see your prescriber next?  And when is the last time you had a blood test or physical?  Ideally I think liver and kidney function tests should be done twice a year.........given your present combination(it just requires a blood test).

Daily logs........remember when we went over doing those?  B)  Those might be something that you could work on and then post here.

Keeping daily notes of your symptoms, when you take your drugs, and their dosages is quite simple. In many situations, particularly when you're taking multiple drugs, we need to know when you take your drugs, the dosages(in milligrams-mg), and your symptomsYou might even include whatever situational stuff might be involved briefly as well.  We can see if the anxiety peak persists over several days as well that way.  Maybe even rate your anxiety from a 1-10 with 1 being the lowest and 10 the worst.

You've been doing well,  and perhaps you are just trying to do too, too much?

Have you been able to keep the Yoga studio going?

Did the babies arrive yet?

Are you a Doula or a Midwife?

Try and hang in there DMV........and hugs.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

Hi DMV,

So glad that you’re still in a window. We have to make the most of them when we get them.

I hope you’re making lots of lovely memories while you’re in one so that when you are in a wave you can look back and smile at all the fun things that you’ve done.

Hi! Thanks for writing to me. I do keep a daily log, it is a very simple one in a date book   And this helpful to look back on it when I’m in a wave and say that I have had some good times.

Because of that book I can see that my anxiety follow this pattern and peeking around 11 o’clock in the morning.

So I will not change anything. I do have a lot going on. The yoga studio is still going but things are very tight. And one of the babies came yesterday after a long labor. I am waiting for the other one. Being a Doula can be quite a lot.

I think I’m a little messed up from the birth I attended yesterday. I always come out of a births feeling  A little bit wrong out and it takes me a few days to recover. In this case I have another one coming up any day now. I think it is normal to feel "off" after attending to a birth under the best conditions (i.e. not going through withdrawal) so I think it is completely normal for you to feel the way you are.  I hope you get a break before the next one.  You are doing great, DMV!

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram
-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

Supplements: fish oil; magnesium; vitamin D3; curcumin

Citalopram taper:  2/2018 - 12/2019: 25 mg - 11.03 mg I 2020: 10.89 mg - 7.9 mg I 2021: 7.8 mg - 5.26 mg I 2022: 5.2 mg - 3.36 mg I 2023: 3.3 mg - 1.47 mg 2024: 1/5/24: 1.44 mg; 1/19/24: 1.40 mg; 1/26/24: 1.37 mg; 2/2/24: 1.34 mg; 2/9/24: 1.31 mg; 2/23/24: 1.28 mg; 3/1/24: 1.25 mg; 3/8/24: 1.22 mg; 3/15/24: 1.19 mg

I have not bought any new equipment yet for my taper but I’ve looked at it online.

Yes......the log can be used to note "good times" and waves and windows.  And that's great that it was used to find for yourself consistent anxiety peeking around 11 in the morning.

And good......I convinced you!  Stay put.

I think though, that when you can, every once in awhile post it here.  The nice simple daily log that accounts for every medication and dosage and time in, let's say a 48 hour period.  Include symptoms and times that they peak(that's why that 1-10 scale might help to keep it brief), and then just overall any new or stressful situation that might be playing a role.  So that mods and administration can get a better grip on what might be causing what, in relation to all your medications and situations going on.

For example:  I have no idea when you take Klonopin(2 doses that total 1mg) and when you take Saphris,  I know when you take Geodon and the doses in mg because that's in your signature.  And then there is Gabapentin.  And Vyvanse.  I hope I got them all.  If you've got the log going and it's very simple then it shouldn't be too difficult to put a day or 2 here once in awhile.  Just add in the doses for us in mg(as I expect you may only record changes at this point) and include all your medications.

Just a reminder when you get a chance to try that........before the link gets lost.   Yours is going to include a whole lot more medications and times obviously than the example given there.

Memory problems can be common and transient and can also improve.  I'm just asking you to try.  When you get a chance.  To record it here.  Then not only you but all of us can give input as to what might be causing what and help you manage.  Get a clearer picture.

Be well in the meantime DMV,

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

I am needing to take a bit of a break, hopefully back around soon enough.......

So glad your cut is going well, DMV.  That is great you are going to the beach despite not feeling well - that is really impressive.  I hope the beach is able to distract you and help you feel better.

You are referring to your Geodon DMV?

Tips for tapering off ziprasidone

In the first post ^ there is some information about storage.

I think that even if you have not been refrigerating it...........you should start to do so.........to be on the safe side.   Put it in a cooler when traveling.  What do you think, given the information in that link on storage?  Best to protect it from light as well.......either keep it in an amber colored container or put it in a brown paper bag in the fridge.

........and I'm assuming that at best you are making up a solution from 40 mg or 80 mg capsules........??  So a 2 day or 4 day supply at a time?

I also don't think you've done a major mess up by not refrigerating what might have been only a second days dose......or three days maximum .  And good progress that you are attending more to detail.

(not brassmonkey or Shep...... I was just doing some busy work here)B)

And yes, I noted your daily log that you did too!  And did see some more of the same a ways back in your thread.   Good job.  When ever you are having concerns around your cocktail and are wanting to change things.........post more of the same BEFORE making changes.  A couple of days worth even.   It can be unbelievably helpful to us all.

And update your signature with your Saphris dose change as soon as possible too.  JC will be real proud of you! ❤️

Glad you got to the beach as well!  Sounds lovely.  Hopefully the babies have come and you can relax a bit now.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

p.s.  would your magnesium help in the morning do you think?  You are tolerating it in the evening okay..........so maybe a small dose to help with the "cortisol" spikes?  Just an afterthought.......

I think i need to start doing this. I am going to start doing this.

I can't believe I did not post about the babies. They both came. Within 5 days of each other. Maybe that is why I did not post!

Today was hard. Maybe the beach was too much, I don't know. I did enjoy it.

Going to change my signature...

Also, I will try the magnesium.

On a separate note, my eye sight (I have lasik damage) is getting much worse. Going to see the eye doc soon. I can barely read.

Oh bummer DMV.  Did you get damage from lasik surgery then?  I shall type in black.  The lavender gets to me even sometimes!!! :D

Yay on the babies.  And not to be unexpected at all........the day after doing a lot to need a bit of a breather sometimes.

Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks.

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

Hi DMV-  it sounds like MMT has you covered on the refrigeration issue.  It's best to keep it in the cooler, but I don't think a day or two at room temp (as long as it's not really hot in the room) shouldn't cause too much trouble.

A lot of people report having eye trouble at some point during their taper.  If you have had damage from a procedure it would be good to have it checked out though.

Brass

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Hi DMV,

Glad you enjoyed the beach, it certainly is soothing to be near nature and the sound of water particularly. I’m down the Coast at my sister’s place and I loved my train ride down here. Love train rides, find them soothing too. There’s something about the sound and vibration of the train that I find relaxing.

Sorry to hear about your eye sight. Hope it improves. My eye sight has gotten worse since withdrawals too but I think it has more to do with the fact I spent so much time for years on my iPad trying to get through withdrawals. I played a million games of Words With Friends, watching YouTube videos etc etc.

Jake Steiner explains it really well about how close up work can worsen your eyesight. Too brain dead at the moment to remember the details but i think it has to do with the cilliary muscle. I’m limiting my time looking at my iPad now. It is reversible though, I have read many stories of people reversing their myopia.

I havent taken magnesium as yet, but I think I might start it before my next taper at the end of August. Hope the magnesium helps you.

Sending hugs 🤗

Yes I think close up or have made it worse. But I definitely have the damage from the surgery as well. I notice it’s very very difficult to read screens anymore.

The beach is such a wonderful place isn’t it? I would like to live there someday

DMV, I think all the close up stuff is a great distraction when in withdrawals but it is bad on our eyesight. I was on my iPad almost all day for ages and it’s made my eyes so much worse. Trying to find other distractions now. Instead of reading a lot, I’ll listen to books etc. Have had severe brain fog lately too and haven’t really been able to really read much anyway.

Im so sorry the lasik damaged your eyes. Jake Steiner is totally against laser. He has helped so many people reverse myopia without lasik.

Take care💚💚
