Hi DMV,

Don't take it personally.  I was completely self absorbed at 20?   And I don't know why........but I really did not like my family much back then.........they just weren't cool enough or something.  So maybe that's how she is.

Yah.....typical 20 year old behavior I'd guess.

((((hugs))))

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

Late 2023- gone to emeritus status, inactive, don't @ me, I can check who I've posted on, and I'm not really here like I used to be......thanks.

Started with psycho meds/psychiatric care circa 1988.  In retrospect, and on contemplation, situational overwhelm.

Rounding up to 30 years of medications(30 medication trials, poly-pharmacy maximum was 3 at one time).

5/28/2015-off Adderal salts 2.5mg. (I had been on that since hospital 10/2014)

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

Longer signature post here, with current supplements.

Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016.  And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed.  Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022.  Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜

I'm sorry, DMV.  Yes, it's because she's 20.  She has no earthly clue how much that must hurt you.  Now that I have a child I understand why that would be really hard for a mother who actually a loves her child.

They do need to spread their wings and try out life without the safety net of what is familiar.  It would be nice if that wasn't so painful for the moms, wouldn't it?

A huge hug, Rosetta

Part of me feels that because I am in WD I am not making great decisions. And allowing her to move out on the child support now feels like a mistake. But it is done. And I don't know how exactly it will affect the household finances. Obviously one household is cheaper than two. Just trying to take it a day at a time.

Good luck with your cut, DMV!

-1/06 - 3/07 Cymbalta. Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD)

-10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot

-Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015

-8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?)  - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg).

I am excited for you, DMV....you are making good progress on your taper.  I am ok.. I was hoping to make a cut tonight too but have decided to put it off because I have had headache pain.  I may have to add headache to my list of symptoms though and continue tapering if it doesn't go away.  Keep us posted how you are doing.

Hi DMV64,

How is it today?  The paranoia?

Personally, I think with the AP's........yes, sometimes paranoia is a side effect.  And then it can be a WD symptom as well.  Another one of those unknowns.

As you just did a decrease in your Saphris.........and if it's a brand new symptom that seems to correlate with that decrease.........then I'd go with it being a WD symptom.

You doing okay without your daughter around as much?  Adjusting?  It's hard when the nest changes and our babies start to fly on their own.  Takes time to get used to and alter parenting to the situation.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

Adjusting

Hey thanks for coming by. I don’t know of this symptom is due to my cart, maybe. It’s very unpleasant. As far as my daughter goes, I am slowly adjusting but it’s really hard. Much harder than I would’ve imagined. And so the depression is kicking in a little bit harder.  I feel like I bounce back-and-forth between depression and anxiety and then now some paranoia with a few windows in between. Thank God for those.

2001- Klonopin 0.125 mg.  2011- increase to 1 mg.  2018- increase to 1.5 mg

2010- Trials of SSRI's, several.

2011- Saphris 5 mg. CT. 6/2017- retry Saphris 5 mg sublingual, begin taper August 2020 10% taper with scale, and final taper liquid sublingual, August 2019- taper complete!

2011- Geodon 20 mg. Begin taper Sept 2019. 10% liquid taper. 2020: December-5 mg. 2021: Jan-4.5mg. (held Feb.for vacation). March-4mg. Apr-3.6mg. May-3.2mg. June-2.8mg. (Held July for vacation). Aug-2.4mg. Sept.- 2.2mg. Oct. 2mg. Dec 2022 - Taper complete!

2011- Gabapentin 300 mg to present- 2020. Increase 2023 to 400mg.

Yes.  Thank goodness for windows.   Bouncing is no fun though either.

Have you had paranoia before as a symptom when you are feeling down?  I know I used to, to a mild degree.

I don't know what you have on your docket today.........try and get on out a bit, if that might help.........out of your head so to speak.........it sometimes works well for me.

Okay and Oh.....I hope it's a well enough day for you today DMV.

Yay!  Sounds great.  I'm doing more meetings myself lately....... and getting back into the swing of all that too.  Back in the 4th step once again.  I was a bit too gung ho on step 8 and 9 and she(sponsor) just wants me to slow down a bit now.  I've got a good book on the 5th dimension too.......emotional sobriety.  So  AA/12 steps........well, I am very thankful for.

My sponsor is out of town a lot lately.......hunting season is next for her too!  She'll be killing my friends, the dear deer.......well, maybe not........yet, if so I'm pretty sure that they make use of the meat and all.  (solly vegetarians  😞)

With all the self-care is been doing, multiple therapies and maybe now starting intensive outpatient treatment, I’ve not been making enough Meetings. But the truth is but ever since I’ve moved here from Brooklyn I really haven’t gotten my groove on. Anyway trying to work on that. It’s funny you called me Department of Motor Vehicles! It’s been a while since somebody did that made me smile.

Have you ever done a phone meeting?

Hi DMV,

Can you share some of your drug/symptom notes with us.  You know, the one where you do the time on the left and then follow that with drug, dosage, and symptoms(even rate them if you would like on a 1-10 scale).  That will help a lot.  Give us a whole 24-48 hours worth if you can.  Include sleep and supplements too.......and briefly any situational factors.

I'm wondering on your need for Cogentin now as well.  Now that you have decreased the Sapris and Geodon.  Yet, that might just be a secondary concern.

I had thought you were going to keep going with the Saphris taper.

In any case.......give the notes and posting them a whirl if possible.  That will really help Shep et al, to evaluate, I'm sure.

Your dancing adventure sounded like great fun.

Me poor Sun(son) may be memorably embarrassed, when we go to see some live music this week.  However, I will try to be the most exemplary example of mental health that I can!

Love, peace, healing, and grrrrowth,

mmt

12/2015---just holding, holding, holding, with trileptal/oxcarb at 75 mg. 1/2 tab at hs.  My last psycho med ever!  Tapered @ 10% every 4 weeks, sometimes 2 weeks to

2016 Dec 16 medication free!!

Longer signature post here, with current supplements.

Herb and alcohol free since 5/15/2016.  And.....I quit smoking 11/2021. Lapsed.  Redo of quit smoking 9/28/2022.  Can you say Hallelujah?(took me long enough)💜

@JanCarol what do you think about three week drop schedule to move the saphris a bit faster

I think that you haven't really had much in the way of withdrawal symptoms, except when you tapered way too fast last December.

I'm not sure how much of your symptoms are from before that (drug overload) or after that (destabilisation from too-fast taper).  If you think that you have had worse symptoms since December, then maybe not.

If, however, you think your symptoms are about the same from before that superfast taper - then - you might try 3 weeks.

It takes 3 weeks for neurotransmitters to adjust, so I'd be reluctant to go any faster.

Also keep in mind that too-fast tapers can stack up.  The first one might be fine, but if you didn't quite recover before the second, then the third one might knock you for a loop.  It can be cumulative.  Pay close attention and be mindful, and listen to your body if you start to get fatigued, or your symptoms increase in any way.   This stacking up of symptoms is why we often recommend long holds.

went out to a baseball game yesterday anyway!

Good for you!  I took hubby to American baseball this year.  One, a tiny little "Frontier League" game - but held at a ballpark that was a movie set, and they've left it that way, and had "Belles" who were in 1940's costumes, and the other a AAA minor league.  Both teams won, hooray!  Hubby now understands what "The Seventh Inning Stretch" is!  It would've been nice to have an old-fashioned one with a live organ, but they do it all with music clips now!

I just hope that one day they disappear.

Like everything, cortisol spikes are sneaky.  There may come a time when they smooth out (the natural cortisol cycle - still cycles - is a curve), and are less spiky.  But you may not notice - the difference between this week and last week, and next month may be very incremental.

And then, when you are stressed (eating, sleeping, relationships, working), they may go spiky again.

If you can come to a point where you can say, "this is my body, doing it's adrenaline / cortisol thing" and avoid the conclusion of "I am anxious" - It's just your body firing, due to chemical reactions.  If the cortisol spikes are bad, I would say this is not the time to tighten up your tapering schedule - we like for the cortisol, which is a withdrawal symptom, to smooth out.  You are not a candidate for long holds, but I don't think you want to pile symptoms upon symptoms.

More, soon,

I hope you see the sun today!

My suggestions are not medical advice, you are in charge of your own medical choices.

A lifetime of being prescribed antidepressants that caused problems (30 years in total). At age 35 flipped to "bipolar," but was not diagnosed for 5 years. Started my journey in Midwest United States. Crossed the Pacific for love and hope; currently living in Australia.   CT Seroquel 25 mg some time in 2013.   Tapered Reboxetine 4 mg Oct 2013 to Sept 2014 = GONE (3 years on Reboxetine).     Tapered Lithium 900 to 475 MG (alternating with the SNRI) Jan 2014 - Nov 2014, tapered Lithium 475 mg Jan 2015 -  Feb 2016 = GONE (10 years  on Lithium).  Many mistakes in dry cutting dosages were made.
