Hello Altostrata, 

and thanks for being in touch! 

For almost 3 years now, I am free of any symptoms, thank goodness. 

Hope that this nightmare is over, although still cautious, and your site helped me crucially to understand the withdrawal process, and what was happening to me after being off the drug. 

The final obstacle, ( being reluctant to travel by myself in long holidays trips abroad), had been overcome this year, since on Christmas traveled to Switzerland and the Alps for 2 weeks, and even did skiing after many years! 

I follow frequently the site, and offer whenever I can some advice, based on my experiences. 

You offer invaluable help here,

Hi again Alto and thanks for your proposal. 

However I am not good in writing, and at this point I wouldn't like to dig in the past, and remember, past hopefully, wounds! 

You have put the lovely shining sun sign beside my name, so anybody interested in my history and eventual recovery, could get the most info from there, and will be happy to answer at any questions. 

Maybe could do it some time in the future, if you still consider it worthwhile.

It looks like it! 

I am now 8 years without any drug, and 3 years completely recovered and symptoms free. 

Let's hope it will continue this way.

These two hills, with each church at the top , represent the medieval rich history of the island.

Left is the catholic part of the city ,with the church of st George at the top ,

and right is the church of Resurrection ( anastasi) ,with the Orthodox part of it .

reading you gives me hope in the bad bad situation I am now. I cant wake-up from the sofa because I am exhausted and my whole body is shaking, but knowing that people like you have recovered gives me strength. 

 

I've always wanted to visit your beautiful country, It is full of history, the people I've known from there is very nice and the food looks amazing! If one day I recover, one of the first things I will do is visiting Greece.

Hi Almu ,

Was very happy to receive your mail and thank you for your kind words.

 

I see that you have only taken citalopram,  at the same dosage as me .

I understand also ,that you were on  it for a short time ,and at the lowest dose ..

 

I was on/off  for many years,

and managed to get off in my 4th attempt ,and very very slowly, reducing it for a period of 7 years!

 

Despite that ,as you see I had a strong set back 4 years after being off!

 

Despite all this long suffering,  by reorganizing completely my personal life , I was able for a long time now ,to be free of drugs and living a decent life. 

 

I am sure the same will happen to you sooner or later ,as your experience with this drug was much shorter than mine. 

 

I am also a big fan of your country, since I did my PhD in Biochemistry in Essex University at Colchester, and worked in Birmingham for a few years after. 

 

I am regularly visiting England and Scotland( before Covid and Brexit !), enjoying the splendid countryside  ,the castles and the polite British people approach. 

 

Hope to be there again this autumn ,and you to be able to visit soon our beautifull  sunshine islands.

thanks for your reply. Yes, I know recovery will take time, even thi, as you said, I was not so long on citalopram. It is also true that I need to reorganize my life, but right now I feel that I need to focus more on recovery from WD than anything else.

 

I am actually from Spain, but been living in the UK for 10 years. I Hope you can travel safetly soon:)

Thanks again for your kind message on my thread. How are you doing over there in Greece? It’s winter here in Australia and it’s a little bit chilly at the moment so I’m cosy in front of the heater. It’s not as cold as Germany though, I was born there.

We had a terrible Summer in Greece this year, full off wild fires and huge temperatures!

Luckily, not near my place, so I could enjoy the beautiful  beach nearby and do a lot of swimming..

 

Fortunately things are going well for me for the time being, and enjoying my life..

Thank you for your kind words on my thread. I hope you’re doing okay. How’s the temperature now over your way? Has the heat died down? We are getting wild fires here in Australia now too, we’re having them here in Queensland.

 

My cat just came up to me, she’s restless and wants some food😸, she just did that moaning thing cats do when they’re frustrated and now she’s doing zoomies. I have to crush her medication into a little bit of wet food  twice a day. I better go and do that now before she decides to pack her bags and move away😂
