Thank you Leo.  Hopefully mine won't last until I am off Lexapro because mine is a very slow taper. Sorry it happened to you but glad to know someone else has experienced it and I am not just crazy.  How long did it start after you started taking it.

No the yawning started 1 week or ao after starting the drug. Then went away once i stopped the drug.

Hey everyone, sorry it has been so long since I have been on. Been working a lot and had a lot happening. Could use my friends support right now. In November my daughter had the flu and a horrible cough. She went into labor 12 days early and had a repeat C-section. All went well. When the baby was 2 and 1/2 weeks old her then twenty-month-old ended up in the hospital with type B flu and pneumonia. I took off 2 weeks to help her. Few days after Christmas the oldest baby got sick with respiratory and vomiting phlegm. Then he began to have seizures. He went back into the hospital the day before New Year's Eve. He was in a day and they were saying it was probably seizures from the fever. The day they came home she got sick with food poisoning. I was working and helping them. I got sick Four nights ago. I only threw up once but it sure wiped me out. The oldest baby is running a high fever again. I am having anxiety about him and his well-being. I'm just now being able to eat some but I'm feeling Stress and Anxiety. After o easy I feel anxiety.   Nothing over-the-top. But I'm uncomfortable and frightened.  I have been noticing the last month I have no appetite I am assuming it is part of the Lexapro taper. I am also struggling with drinking enough water. I have a huge week next week for work and I have to do it I have lost so much in the financial Realm. I am holding my taper until I feel better which I do regularly. I don't know what to do about the anorexia. As hard as I work cleaning offices and houses I need the food. I am scared about going to work next week and how I'm going to do an about my grand baby's well being.  Also I have noticed a certain amount of feeling distanced from my family and friends.  even apathetic at times.  i am exhausted many days even the nights I sleep. Thanks for being there for me.

HELP!  My scales went wacky, looking for triple a batteries.  AFTER I  weighed out my .069 capsule for tonight I notice it was kinda full but it was mainly powder.  So I didn't think anything of it.  But when I went to weigh my next one and a larger cut pill was weighing around .015. instead of .045 like it usually does I knew something was wrong.  I shut it off calibrated it 2 more times.   A whole pill is weighing .055 instead of .152.  This is the same pills I used the other day and not a new brand.  I have take  WAY too much on top of all the other stuff I have  messing with me.  Also what do I do until I can get a new scale in?   I am still looking for batteries maybe that will help.  Please advise!  DESPERATE AND SCARED!

Do you have AWS Gemini scales.

It seems you have only miss measured once because of the scales is that correct.

The scales appear to have been out by about 3 to 1.

If it was only for one dose then you will feel the effects but it will settle down again.

If it was for more than one dose get back to me.

Did you ensure you recalibrated after installing the new batteries.

Moonpie, I'm sorry you're not doing well.  All the family troubles are a lot on top of withdrawal and the scale problems.

 

Yes, it's a good idea to have a spare scale.  I'm not familiar with the Horizon scale.  Many members use the AWS Gemini-20, available on Amazon.  It's about the same price as the Horizon.  I'd feel more comfortable with the Gemini, especially after your Horizon went wacky.

It's a good idea to hold your taper until things calm down.  Is your scale working now?  

 

It is very important to drink water.  Force yourself if you have to.  Loss of appetite is common in withdrawal.  I don't have a lot of appetite myself.  Again, force yourself if you have.  Lots of little meals.  Oatmeal?  Bananas?  Avocados?

 

Feeling distant from family and friends is common in withdrawal, as is apathy.  

 

You will make it through all this.  Right now is rough, I know.  Sometimes you just have to go moment to moment.

Thank you Gridley.  I had it in the wrong mode!  Afraid it may have been ounces but at least I kinda know the ratio of med.  I ordered another horizon as I wasn't sure about changing scale brands at this state of the game.  IT has worked well.  When I put the batteries in the light got brighter.  Need to pay attention to that from now on and my tare.  Always good to check that. Hope this will help others to think about it. The scale works great now.  I have used it for 3 years. Thank you for the support on the apathy and drinking and eating.  Will remember the word FORCE.  REally going to work on the eating.  It is hard.  I have lost 7 pounds.  Think the Lexapro may be what happened to me with my stomach Thurs.  It had been messed up for about a week when I ate.

You've had a rough go of it over the holidays. I'm so sorry - all the illnesses in your family - so scary. No wonder your anxiety has been elevated! What a terrible situation. I hope things are now on the up and up and set with the scales. Dosage issues are really scary I know from personal experience. Gridley knows that from months of going back and forth with me on that.

 

Eating can be a problem for me too. Appetite goes up and down. As long as I am not repulsed by food - I sit down at regular meal times and snack often on calorie dense foods. I don't know if are able to eat nuts or peanut butter. Two MDs suggested Ensure to me because I am also concerned about weight loss and need enough food to metabolize other meds. 

 

If I am not feeling like eating at all - but must get calories - I'll eat anything that appeals - including goodies of any variety. I know this is bad....

 

I also find that my GI is not moving so well these days so I'm using Miralax a lot. I've found it the gentlest thing.

 

Hope you're doing better I'm also minimizing time on SA these days even though I think of everyone.

Thank you for your reply and encouragement Guilietta.  Yes I can eat nuts and peanut butter and go to them often but sometimes they don't make me feel well.  I get stuck on cottage cheese and fruit, eggs and toast maybe bacon, and cheese sandwich with organic whole wheat bread.  I am not getting enough vegetables for sure.  Really want to work on it but when you feel so rotten you just don't care sometime.  I rarely feel hunger.  Kinda always been that way but it is worse with the tapering.  I am remembering Gridley's FORCE the water.  But today I have had a small carton of coconut water and 1 bottle of water!  Not being forceful enough with me!  I guess the not drinking comes from working and forgetting a maybe goes along with the not wanting to eat.

@Gridley  Hi I was wondering what you can tell me about dental work and meds.  I am allergic to any deading agent with epinephrine.  For about 40  years they have been using one I do not react to.  Well I went in for work, the first time since I have been on the Lexapro and Buspar  and had a reaction.  Trouble breathing, heart palpitations and  was on oxygen for 45 minutes before I was ok to leave.  My dr. said I needed sedation dentistry. He said he will not work on me until I am off all the meds and need to use the specialist. That will be 2 years! Well that was about a year ago and he told me to have a crown redone ASAP.  They want $2800!  And that is a maybe if it works.  I have put it off due to the cost but I think my day of reckoning is here.  I got in Feb. to be checked and the tooth has been hurting some.  I posted when I happened ( I went back and can't find the post) and the thought was is was the Buspar.  I had dental work done when I was on only  Ativan and had no trouble.  There is a dentist that does sedation dentistry with meds.  I am assuming it is a Valium Cocktail or something like that.  I was wondering how would more meds affect my taper and symptoms.  I don't want to throw a monkey wrench into the deal as things are doing well.  Any advise would be appreciated.  Thank you. Moonpie, have you taken a rescue benzo dose since you came off Ativan? If so, how did you feel? 

 

I'm asking to see how an additional benzo dose may affect you if you do need sedation dentistry with a benzo. 

 

Many people on these withdrawal boards have posted about having surgery and may have some upticks in symptoms for awhile, but it generally settles down and they return to baseline.

I had double hernia surgery and was pumped full of all sorts for pain. I also had a GA.

 

There was a period of 2 weeks were i felt worse then back to baseline.

Please answer these questions so we can help you set up a game plan for dealing with your dental work. These questions are important because if it's tea (or any other caffeinated drink) that's causing the problem, that's an easy fix. 

 

Also, the timing of when you took the drugs and when you had the dental procedure can tell you if you're getting an adverse reaction from combining the dental drug with the psych drugs. Spacing this out may help.

Yes I did have caffeine before my dental work in April. At that time I had taken my medicine at 8 and my appointment was around 11 or 12

,I need to add my lexapro and buspar doses around 10 or 11 pm. the night before and my morning buspar around 8 am before I went to the dentist.  I had just the hot tea with my breakfast that morning.

If your hot tea has caffeine in it, you may want to replace that with peppermint or ginger tea, or any tea without caffeine. The caffeine could be causing problems.

Are you able to schedule dental work early in the morning and take the morning buspar after the dental work?

Yes I can do that.   My  dentist won't try it again since that happened.  He is afraid to.  If I have to be sedated would oral drug sedation be better than IV?  I go next month to my dentist and will post more.     Thank you as always for your help.

Hi everyone. Hope all of you are well and safe.  I wanted to check in and share some things that have found that really helped me in this tapering journey. I  know everyone is affected different by different things but I hope it might help some.  I started out at .152 with my Lexapro and tonight I take .050, 1/3 of the way through. I have had to hold 2 or 3 times the last few months due to symptoms.  I hit a point where I was having nausea all day to the point I couldn't eat.   If I am out of line mentioning these things please let me know.  I began taking the NOW peppermint gel tablets.  You can take 9 a day.  It suggests 30 minutes before meals but I just took them when needed them and not always 30 minutes before I ate.  Two each time worked for me. The have peppermint, fennel and ginger oil.  The nausea went away.  My daughter got me started on the other thing, when she began selling the product.  It is Plexus.  I started out on the Bio-5 (a probiotic,  I only took 1 instead of the suggested 2 at night) and then added the  X-Factor ( the multiple vitamin.) I am super sensitive to any supplement or medication and had no reaction to these.  I noticed I felt better and had more energy but the BIG eye opener was when I ran out of the vitamin for 2 weeks.  I began to have withdrawal symptoms again and they worsened.  When I got my order in and started back they went away and I began to feel better.  I am not promoting this at all it was just an eye opener, for me I think it is helping with the taper.

Seems every time I post a good report, I become symptomatic. I noticed little flashes of  extreme anxiety. I am so exhausted and not sleeping well. My stomach is troubling me but the peppermint gel tabs are helping. I am struggling with all the covid 19 in a little panicked when I feel bad. I thought as I got lower in my tapering I would begin to feel better. It seems I go along good and then when symptoms strike I am caught off guard. Do the symptoms alternate change around, maybe even a few new ones the further you go on the taper? Also have been feeling very depressed and hopeless . I am assuming that is part of the taper. Also Just feeling miserable and scared need some support.

Yes, symptoms do morph - new ones can come in and old ones can leave. I'm sorry you're still struggling, Moonpie. The covid-19 has definitely ramped up anxiety worldwide, so you're not alone. 

 

You may want to reduce more slowly or take more hold time. No need to rush.

It depends on what your goal is. If you need to updose back to your previous dose, then you would go back to the previous one. If you want to continue tapering, then you would hold at your present dose. 

 

Since you've only taken one dose of the new taper, then it's safe to updose back to where you were a day ago.

 

Are you having a lot more symptoms now? Do you feel it's too soon to make another reduction?

In some respects it's individual, but with a higher SERT occupancy on the lower doses, some people find they need to taper a lot slower on the lower doses. For more, please see:

Doing better today.  I never know how temporary it is.  I realized something I have been doing in this lock down chaos.  I was not accepting the symptoms and trying to push myself emotionally and physically just because with all the extra time I SHOULD be doing more.  I think I made it worse just not letting myself go through it.  Thank you.

I was wondering if anyone has had experiences with elevated blood sugar and Lexapro tapering.  I eat clean, rarely sweets. I had my thyroid labs drawn and my fasting blood sugar was 116.  I have never had that unless I had just eaten before blood draw.  The night before my grandson brought me some orange chicken.  Yes super sweet. I thought i ate it 10 to 12 hours before blood work.  I have been having some withdrawl symptoms.  Holding my taper a 2nd time now.  Not able to sleep much at night, tossing and turning, plus very tried.  I am not over weight, don't have any of the health or lifestyle things that tend toward diabetes.  Just concerned.  Also can it cause elevated Cholesterol.   Mine has been for the past few years since I have been on these meds and was not before.  Moonpie
