Notes from last 3 and a half days: Friday Broken sleep 6.45 woke in panic extreme fatigue, racing head, stinging eyes, strong akathisia 7.45 5mg lexapro 7.50 feel buzzy and shaky inside, nerves in stomach, heart pounding, akasthisia 8am stinging eyes and blinking 8.08 Drowsy but feel akathisia 8.30 sleepy, head looping 9am 2mg diazepam intrusive memories, looping thoughts, dp/dr, panic, terror, feeling of rage building 10.10 tears as the above continues, akathisia ramping up 10.22 crying in terror 11.15 back of head squeezing, tears, terror, panic, agitation 11.50 burning back of head 12.05 things calmer apart from akathisia 1pm 2mg diazepam akathisia all afternoon , waves of terror, crying spells 4.30 lower aka 5pm 2mg diazepam 5.10 stinging eyes 6-7pm extreme panic, paranoia, fear, buzzing with akathisia 8-10pm lower aka, clearer head, restless 11pm 15mg Mirtazipine Saturday Slept solidly til 7.30am 7.45 lexapro Slept til 9am then shaky 9am 2mg diazepam, dozed but with intrusive thoughts 10.30 came round in a panic rising rage, panic, claustrophobia, intense akathisia under skin, tears, terror 11.30 rage feeling gone, very restless 12.35 tension, akathisia intense under skin, panic in chest, restless, nausea, highly agitated 1pm diazepam agitated, very fast racing head and highly agitated body 1.15 stinging eyes and blinking, panic rising, shaky, churning, akathisia high, terror, wired 1.50 slight lowering in panic 2pm calmer tingly left hand 2.30 stinging eyes, aka increasing under skin 3pm tears, fatigue, hopelessness 3.15 rocking in bed in tears 5pm diazepam mental symptoms lower restless 6.15 mild panic in chest 6.30/7 heavy depression, looping thoughts, aka buzzing stopped 7.30 rage feeling, panic in chest mood ok ish 8 panic 9.30 until bedtime extreme depression 11pm Mirtazipine rough might waking often Sunday 7am panic 7.45 lexapro, dozy 9 diazepam racing thoughts, weird images when close eyes, panic, burning aka all over 11.30 nausea leading to dry reaching, shivering, some face twitching 12 noon dizzy and weak My notes ended here as was so unwell, cried all afternoon, akathisia severe, depression. Today, woke up 6am in panic, dozed after lexapro, then day has been the same as yesterday so far. I had the nausea and dry retching at 12.09 today. 2pm been in bed all day with severe akathisia under my skin, torture, restless with it, crying often. 4.30 nausea with the rage feeling and intense akathisia Just a note about the rage, it’s like an explosive feeling in me but I don’t act on it; I do kick my legs and have hit my pillow but my muscles are so weak I can’t let out much. I am extremely fragile and in great distress. I would like to add that my symptoms vary enormously and before this wave I had days where I had 5, 10, 12, 14 symptoms then a day with 24 and back to 15. No pattern. 2009-2011 mirtazapine 45mg plus clonaz as needed. Start Lexapro Nov 2011. June 2016 Zopiclone, July-Sept Trazodone 50mg, adverse reaction, ct, started pregabalin, reduced Lexapro from 20 to 15mg Start of 2017 on 15mg lexapro, 100mg pregablin. April added 15mg mirtazapine. End May. Start June stop pregablin after two week taper. End June. Stopped Lexapro 15mg 3 wk taper. Start July Mirt 30mg + Diaz daily 2-4mg End July returned to mirtaz 15mg + lexapro at 10mg reinstated. 4th Aug - 19 Sept Zopiclone (3.75 then 7.5 then 3.75 at the end) diazepam 7-8mg day since then. 16 Sept cut lex to 5mg. 5-6 Oct swapped 5mg lex to 8.15am and 15mg mirtazipine to 11pm 8 Oct onwards sticking to 6mg diazepam p/day 3 doses/ 2 Feb start 1mg clonazepam, stop Diaz. 21 Feb 2% cut lex. 8 March 12.5% clon cut. Now take .5 clon 9am, .375 5pm(0.875 mg daily clonazepam) 16 May @8% clon reduction so 9am dose .43(0.805 mg daily clonazepam) 2 July 10% Lexapro reduction to 4.5mg. 9 Aug .25mg lex cut to 4.25mg/ 13 Aug 4.5mg 2018 October Lexapro 4.5 to 4.25 mg clonazepam 0.80 mg mirtazapine 15 mg 2019 October present drugs: Lexapro 2.75 mg(tapers of 0.25 increments in last year at 5 -9 week intervals), clonazepam 0.78 mg(taper of .02 mg November 2018), mirtazapine 15 mg 2020 January 5th Lexapro taper to 2.57 mg(2%drop), total clonazepam 0.78 mg, mirtazapine 15 mg previous signature here recent dosing and symptom logs here Link to comment

Just took my 5pm diazepam and I got a surge of panic and nausea. Bit of face twitching. I don’t know what’s going on. I’m now shuddering in bed. How do I cope with withdrawals, akasthesia, and tapering diazepam?? I take 7mg a day been on it three months. i can't stop in one place and am smoking (just tobacco) every half hour. i got sober in 2013. this is hell. I hope you feel better soon! 2001 Remeron , Celexa, prozac a week on lithium. 2014 went off effexor and trazadone in 3 weeks. 2014 zoloft (hyper reaction) put on effexor 75 mg. Was stable until 2017 2017 Trazadone 50 mg (June) Effexor to 113 mg (2 weeks) Effexor 150 mg for a month . Took 75 mg until November. . Lithium 10 days, Lamactil 10 day aug-nov15 ativan October : Prozac bridge to get off 75 mg of effexor Used 10 mg of prozac. Stopped prozac 3 wk Dec 6, 7 Upped trazadone from 50 to 100 mg Did it for 3 days Stopped it Dec 7 , Dec 8 Took prozac again 0.1 , 0.1, 0.6 stopped it Dec 11 and Dec 12 upped it to 100 again Dec 15 , 16,17 went back to 50 mg of trazadone December 18 Began 3 beads of effexor Dec 25 began 5 beads of effexor take 10 mg of omneprazole daily Link to comment

In my own experience I suffered terribly when on an SSRI and mirtazapine regardless of how much diazepam I was given and your symptoms sound very similar to what I went through. Rather than stop one of the drugs I ended up on a psych ward for nearly 3 weeks and came out addicted to diazepam. Like you I was paralysed and shaking led on a sofa for 3 weeks prior to admission. You need to seek professional help now and I'd call your Crisis Team or 999. You need more help not vague advice from non medically qualified (but well meaning) forum members. Please seek help as things sound like they are spiralling out of control now. Steve. xxxx PM me if you need to. Thank you Steve but it was the Crisis team that did most of this to me, they put me on diazepam. They can’t help me. I feel the same about Crisis Teams as they damaged me but you can't go on much longer like you are. Please seek help. If you don't want to ring the Crisis Team phone an ambulance or 111. There's no one qualified or able to help you just by posting here. It is your right to refuse medication if they want to up your diazepam. Was stable until 2017 2017 Trazadone 50 mg (June) Effexor to 113 mg (2 weeks) Effexor 150 mg for a month . Took 75 mg until November. . Lithium 10 days, Lamactil 10 day aug-nov15 ativan October : Prozac bridge to get off 75 mg of effexor Used 10 mg of prozac. Stopped prozac 3 wk Dec 6, 7 Upped trazadone from 50 to 100 mg Did it for 3 days Stopped it Dec 7 , Dec 8 Took prozac again 0.1 , 0.1, 0.6 stopped it Dec 11 and Dec 12 upped it to 100 again Dec 15 , 16,17 went back to 50 mg of trazadone December 18 Began 3 beads of effexor Dec 25 began 5 beads of effexor take 10 mg of omneprazole daily Link to comment

Fast taper (essentially CT); withdrawal symptoms after 4 mos (didn't realize was WD) -10/07: 100 mg Zoloft; 1 mg Klonopin - tapered off Klonopin after 4 mos. Several unsuccessful slow tapers of Zoloft; went up and down in dose a lot -Spring 2013 back on 1 mg Klonopin to counter WD symptoms; switched over 5-6 mos from Zoloft to 35 mg citalopram -Two attempts at slow tapering citalopram, always increased dose due to WD; also increased Klonopin to 1.25 mg in 2014, then to 1.5 mg in 2015 -8/17-9/17: After holding one year at 20 mg, feeling withdrawal symptoms due to stress - slowly increased to 25 mg. No change in symptoms after 6 months (? tolerance ?) - decided to start citalopram taper February 2018 (still on Klonopin 1.5 mg). I’m now pacing and rocking with it and doing any kind of movement needed. I started eating plain yogurt 4th Jan before this wave started on 9th Jan, symptoms as previously described got worse and worse, wondered if the yogurt was doing something bad so stopped on 16th Jan. GP thinks it has been detoxing the drugs out of my system and I’ve gone into extra wd. Does this make sense to anyone? I have had to get family to stay as I’m not coping and having to do a lot of movements due to severe levels of agitation, fizzing in my skin and monumental panic. Severe. I am in shock and trauma. As I type this my whole body is having to move. Is this going to right itself back to my usual aka level? If not, I don’t know what to do as cannot function like this. Diazepam calms it then 1.5 hours after dose it rages up to severe levels again. In great distress. Reluctant to post as so vulnerable and know no one can do anything. I am pretty sure I stopped them too but don't recall having any upswings in aka, I believe I stopped them because they didn't seem to do anything for me. I know I tried kefir too at one point, and I did eat plain yogurt, neither seemed to do that much to me. I'm a sample size of one though, so does not mean much, but thought I should put it here. However, my symptoms coincide with the term...the internal agitation/vibration rarely disappears but some days are worse than others. I pace and rock. I am unable to sit still in a chair. The best I can do is notice and acknowledge the internal agitation/restlessness and practice mindful meditation...give it space and breath through the pain. If I don't do this it will grab hold and take over and I can loose control. I also suffer from coordination problems, balance and involuntary movements. Now I know what it is, looking back I definitely had it when I started citalopram once. That was discontinued. I also think I had it after trying trazodone on top of the lexapro in 2016 but my gp thought it was serotonin Syndrome! So was ct’d off trazodone and put on lyrica on top of the lexapro. That calmed things but I kept getting ‘anxiety’ and upping the lyrica. Things got bad April last year and I think that was akathisia now, tried to up lyrica again and I felt I was jumping out of my skin. So gp added remeron and it calmed down overnight. But I was too drugged up and not great hence he said stop lyrica and lexapro and that’s when akathisia hit. They tried to up my remeron and I was buzzing all day, cut it after a few weeks and reinstated lexapro, I think things started to get worse here. I’ve wondered about serotonin issues. Someone said dairy food has serotonin properties and I wonder if eating the yogurt pushed it up and over the edge for me. Im really on the edge and feeling hopeless and desperate. It wasn't until my dose got lower that I realised that I had been feeling on edge all the time and generally unsettled. My history is so complex with trying to work this out. It hit me long term after cting lexapro which is wd akathisia and got worse when I reinstated then halved it again it got really bad. I ct’d Zopiclone at the same time though so hard to know if mine is both wd and now the drugs themselves. Remeron gives me sleep and reduces the agitation at night. You don't have to do a full 10% reduction. You could try a smaller than 10% cut and see how you go. From your signature it looks like you haven't made any changes since the start of October 2017. As I said previously you could try a small cut. You could try a 2.5% or even a 1% reduction. Keep notes on paper. You may not feel any improvement, but if you don't feel any worse then you will hopefully be on the right track. Came down to .25mg morning and evening.
