Is this still Zopiclone withdrawal?

thst was less than a month ago and my life has been in so much more turmoil since then (it wasn't great before but this has been horrific!).

are my gaba receptors just all over the place?

1pm 2mg diazepam

did very little, maybe some brief easing in symptoms. Been getting brain zaps/ rushing up the back of my head the past hour. I had that this morning too.

i haven't been able to do anything today other than drink water, I ate a basic sandwich, and just go between rooms and sitting/ lying.

Just about managed to make dinner. Head's been hyper and body seriously agitated all day. Now 7pm and just managing to sit in front of tv.

Mental Health Team visited today and said to progress I need a new ssri, suggested zoloft. I explained I'm in this mess because of meds. Thankfully my GP agrees no more meds.

praying I will stabilise one day

8pm dry retching, ringing my hands often, can't rest, twitching in some muscles. I'm so done with this.

feels like withdrawal.

10pm so nearing the end of one of my toughest days. Don't know what else to say. Self soothing, prayer, sharing with others, brought a few minutes of peace in an otherwise full on night and day.

im truly paying for the last few months of psych med mayhem.

I'll leave posting for a while now probably. Nikki

1pm Thought I'd say I'm having another lull day today, less agitated, reduced akasthisia, some prickly skin, depressed and fatigued. I slept ok and was drowsy this morning and able to doze.

Thank you US

yes overall much better than yday, I had a better day the day before yday too.

Just in last 45 mins, so from about 9.30pm I'm starting to get the akathisia feelings building up though. I don't know if it's aka or part of my instability. It was full on alll day yday. Today just under surface until now.

Nikki, I used to get some aka in my arms when I first had bad withdrawal too, could be that.  The arm akathisia went away fairly fast.  Good to read it's letting up a bit.:)

Thank you for that. Yeah I wish I knew if it's aka or just part of withdrawal. Either way it stinks. But I just have this fear of aka.

so good to have you chime in here and offer support. Thank you 🙂

Sorry it was bedtime. Barely slept. All my symptoms are up again. Exhausting.

I am feeling hopeless again.

7am terrible night. Head buzzing. Churning tummy. Agitation through my body. I'm so tired.

I find myself craving pregabalin and/or zopiclone. Does this suggest it's withdrawals from those? I'm 4 and a half months off pregabalin which I stopped quickly because my GP said it'd be fine at a 'low dose' (150mg) and like I say I'm finding myself craving it?!

My teeth seem to be getting more sensitive too.

Could I use a sensitive teeth toothpaste? This symptom started when I was on Zopiclone and my teeth as of last night are tingling and sensitive even when I'm just breathing and not eating or drinking anything.

i feel it when I smoke, I use a menthol filter for my self rolled cigarettes, I don't know what to do?!

Nikki, are you clenching your jaw maybe? I developed sensitive teeth in withdrawal and it seems a large part of that was just me clenching without even realizing it.   When I made an effort to relax my jaw things improved.

I don't know if you would react to the toothpaste but someone here can probably give you their rough experience with it.  I was recommended it but never tried it.

No im not clenching my jaw. It's more sensitive around the gum line at the tops of my teeth.

I can't stand it if it's a new symptom! Just seem to be getting more intense stuff going on then some days like yesterday and Tuesday things are a bit easier for some of the day.

thank you so much for responding US x

Massive waves and some windows it seems.

8.15  5mg escitalopram felt drowsy

9am 2mg diazepam

surge of adrenaline then some relative rest listening to nature sounds on YouTube

11am churning stomach, headache, aka feelings in arms and back and legs. Sensitive teeth. So fatigued but inner restlessness.

This has got to be withdrawal.

1pm 2mg diazepam, had little effect. Just feel sick, symptomatic and wondering if I'll stabilise. Feels a long way off. But I have had sort of windows I guess seems every other day, some lessening in intensity.

This is great news, Nikki. Very nice to read about your improvements.

It sounds like switching the mirtazapine and Lexapro helped.

Please list the times you are taking your drugs now. It will be helpful to see this symptom in context with the timing of your drugs.

I really hope you continue to stabilize and feel better.

Hi Shep, just feeling a bit out on a limb and needing some contact. Seem to be getting v dramatic intense days with the odd window or lull on other days but goodness the days like today are relentless!

Update.

I've now done a week on the following:

8.15am 5mg escitalopram

9am 2mg diazepam

1pm 2mg diazepam

5pm 2mg diazepam

11.30pm 15mg Mirtazipine

Will post a symptom timetable later but I do seem to be getting more windows without the aka/ agitation/restlessness.

evenings it tends to creep in more.

prickly tickle skin here and there through day.

sensitive teeth.

This is very good, Nikki. You are stabilizing.

Have you been at the 6 mg daily use of diazepam for the entire week?  Please update your signature with the 6 mg diazepam (it still reads 5.5 mg). Here's a direct link to your signature:

I hope you continue to see more and more windows. I would hold for a few weeks and really give yourself time to stabilize.

Thanks Shep

I've updated my signature.

yes I've stuck on 6mg diazepam.

I'm really fatigued but I was anyway and maybe it's moreso because of all this.

Depression seems to flare up at times through the day and particularly evening.

No idea what stability will look like. Hoping it's clear when I get there!

Can't help but wonder which med needs to go first and my biggest fear is the aka.

Thanks for your support. Nikki

ps I have a question about things like dental work. I've realised I've got receding gums on a couple of teeth that are causing sensitivity. I brush regularly! Though there were times over recent months when that fell by the wayside some days!

Not sure what the solution is to this. Those toothpastes for sensitive teeth and receding gums probably have stuff in that could cause problems? And I need to avoid treatment involving anaesthetic or any chemicals!

You may want to talk to your dentist. A lot of us have dental issues during withdrawal. A nightguard can help tremendously, as teeth-grinding is very common with these drugs.

I use Pronamel toothpaste and before that Sensodyne, which are both good for sensitivity. They aren't organic or holistic or anything like that, but so far, I haven't had any problems. You also may want to read and post on this thread for more feedback:

Dental surgery, dental medications, tooth discoloration

Also be sure to keep up with 6 month cleanings, if you can. In the long run, getting regular dental cleanings will decrease your chances of needing to have work done involving anesthesia or any other chemicals, as you mention.

Thank you Shep. I'll make an appearance when I'm a bit stronger, also now have some Pronamel to try.

I'm dealing with a mix of extreme fatigue now, pretty much 24 hours, with spells of some agitation but fatigue and often overwhelming depression seems to have replaced the more heightened stuff. Every med I take now makes me super drowsy and feel completely drugged up.

When I doze it's filled with feelings of detachment from the world and loneliness I can't even describe.

Very hard to engage with anyone or anything and even a visit from a friend can leave me sort of anxious and over stimulated.

I'm finding it hard to imagine feeling more functional i.e. Stabilisation.

Is all this normal for where I'm at?

Nikki, I know the above is addressed to Shep but just wanted to chime in and say, I had those feelings before as well and it will get better.  I can't say much re stabilization but, I think if you are having less akathisia then that is a very good sign. Being able to get rest through this is enormously helpful, even if the feelings of being drugged up are so unpleasant and awful.  I wish it were easier though.

Unfortunately the Akathisia is back full on today. Extreme inner restlessness, racing head, restless legs, head surges up the back of my head, feelings that I can't cope. I've had waves of it again the last couple days and today it just seems full on; it's replaced the fatigue. I'm hoping it's just the waves and windows pattern and it'll sort itself out. I truly hope it eventually goes as I can't imagine living like this long term and attempting tapering like this.

Im calling it akathisia. It could be withdrawals but it sure feels like akathisia. The inability to find any peace. When it's like this, the diazepam barely seems to touch it.

On other days recently, the diazepam has made me fatigued and woozy.
