I was offered Azithromycin 500 for covid. I didn't ask for it. One doctor, not my doc gave to me. I have been taking paracetomol 1g, Ibuprofen 600mg and Mucosan 6mg.I just wanted to know your advice on it. I have covid with green mucus.

Hi @gdsequoia. How are you man? How is your taper if you are tapering some psychotropic drugs?Long time not seeing you online. Thanks for running the drugs interaction checker for me. I thought it about but instead I chose to search online for for the Azithromycin antibiotic. Yes I read about the QT interval and heart failure. I don't think that is woth it for me. These doctors don't care. She was going to prescribe me a quinolonas antibiotic. As far as I know these virus infection should resolve itself. I gave positive on Covid last Saturday. I didn't have much fever,but I still have mucus but my friend tells me it is normal. I am much better now. I am taking cough syrup (ambroxol hidrocloruro) to get the mucus less solid and to get out of my lungs.I take paracetamol 1g and ibuprofen 600mg too.

Hi Manny! I'm in a WDnormal state. Meaning - not too bad.  Most days I manage to use computer screens for about 60-90 minutes.

I'm currently not tapering any drugs. I was tapering biperiden until january, but after that - no. I'm at about 1.86mg of biperiden. I think the biperiden makes my eyes feel better (maybe because it corrects my nystagmus).

If it's only a viral infection, then I yes, I guess. But a covid virus infection can progress to a bacterial infection, and those are much more dangerous (and are usually treated with antibiotic drugs like Azithromycin).

Careful with the paracetamol and ibuprofen - I think you shouldn't take them for longer than a week, especially when taking them as a combination. Otherwise you risk gastrointestinal damage, kidney damage etc.

When I had covid, I took a herbal supplement called Aviron Rapid; it seemed to help. It's supposed to fight viral infections. Also I'm double vaccinated - hope you are too.

Hi Stefan. Glad you are in a "wdnormal" state. I wish I could say the same. I am a little much better now at abilify 2,2ml, before I couldn't cope with akathisia. I cross my fingers that but It is going to be tough the last abilify's taper. Wow, you can't stay for long periods at computer screens. I remember that from you. I will have to taper biperiden but that might be the last drug that I taper. Even though doctors say I can CT that. In the forum they tell to taper it by no maximum of 10 percent monthly. When I finish my 5 pills taper i would be in 2027. I don't know how many years will take me. I hope I can taper all drugs minimum side effects (brain damage). Can you tell me how did you taper biperiden? I have biperiden 2mg non extended release. I am using the biperiden 4mg extended release.

I spoke with the emergency doctor. She was not very polite. She doesn't want to give me a different antibiotic. She tells me to speak it with my doctor. My doctor is not in the office. She is on vacation. I still have green mucus. Have you heard of mucinex? 

Today it is the 7th day i have covid. Yes I had the 3 vaccine shots.

Hi folks, I am experiencing cognitive fog from tapering abilify. I want to study so I won't depend on my parents in the future. Also the akathisia is back,usually when I take abilify in liquid. My taper is very slow. If you check my signature,you can see that I have been tapering very slow. This is a taper (abilify) that I started a few years ago. I have to live a life without stress,but this is very hard. I don't work. I just listen to my classes and I do tests. I am trying to get a clerical job with the government. I am doing my best to get rid off of these poisons, but since I am on a 5 drugs combo I don't have other choice to taper one drug at a time. I know I am in tolerance with all drugs I take. 

 

Why at lower doses my akathisia seems to get worse?

My psychiatrist is a liar but he is prescribing that is the important thing. I would rather not to see him because I get mad. My GP doesn't cooperate either. She sents me to the psychiatrist for evaluation. Usually I see him every 8 months which is good for me. I don't have an appointment with him yet. Last appointment was in June 14th,2022.I said to him I needed liquid abilify because of stomach issues with the abilify 10mg tablets. He prescribed me liquid abilify 1ml/mg solution and said to me to not lower abilify below 5ml without consulting with him because abilify doesn't have antipsychotic effects below 5ml. That is another lie from him. Antipsychotics cause psychotic sxs. I am going to go all the way down to 0 ml abilify. I shouldn't have had been prescribed these psychotropic drugs. The good thing is that I am coming off of these awful psy drugs.

I never used the 4mg extended release tablets - just the 2mg instant release ones.

I don't remember exactly how I tapered it. But I always make sure to updose abilify when I downdose biperiden (because there is an interaction between the two, and I don't want my abilify bloodlevel to go down).

In september 2021 I reduced the biperiden by 10%. Then in december 2022 a further 10%.

Hi ChessieCat. Thank you for replying. I never took Mucinex. I took Mucosan which is Ambroxol Hidrocloruro. That is a Spanish cough syrup. It seems my voice is getting better but not 100 percent yet. I got positive on July 9th,2022 and gave negative on July 19th,2022. All that time I took Tylenol, Ibuprofen and the cough syrup.  Not taking anything now for a week. I took paracetamol for a few days for irritated throat.  Yesterday I took the  antigen test again and gave negative. I hope this resolves soon.  I think the psychotropic drugs I take that dry my mouth and the hot weather have to do with this and drinking cold drinks I took some days. Thank you,

@gdsequoia,so you are taking 2,11mg of biperiden according with your signature? Are these biperiden 2mg pills? I have the non extended release pills but I am not using them. I have to make sure I have enough biperiden 2mgs pills to taper. Does your biperiden 2mg break in 4 pieces? Did you shave off with a fingernail biperiden to taper? Did you weigh the pill? Or you use a razor blade?

As I read I don't know your actual dose of biperiden. On December 2022 you stopped tapering at what dose biperiden?

Do the cognitive issues get better as you taper lower? Or we don't know when this will rosolve or maybe it stays forever? I am reading that biperiden causes cognitive problems. My psychiatrist defines akathisia as a uncorfortable sensation. He suggests crazy things like increasing biperiden or lower abilify.

My bad - I should've said December 2021.

That's when I was at 1.86mg.

Then in january 2022 I reduced to 1.67mg (10% reduction) but that worsened my eyes a lot, so I reinstated to 1.86mg and stopped tapering biperiden. I'm currently not tapering anything.

Hello everyone. I am going to post this on my thread. I hope someone answers. I am in a low dose of abilify now. I am on a 5 psychotropic drugs combo. Shame on the people who put me on this damn cocktail. 

I don't know if this is important. I think I answered this before at the request of @altostrata or the mods. I don't want to sound reductant or repetitive. I take abilify 2,1ml in the morning,but not at the same time. I usually take Cymbalta 60mg and biperiden 4mg extended release before than the abilify solution . I think it gives me less aka. Sometimes when I take the abilify, I takes not so long to get akathisia, maybe 10 minutes or less. Should I take abilify and the other drugs I take in the morning at the same time? As a suggestion, if I want to go lower in my taper which I do. I should taper decrease 0,2ml monthly? I worry when I will finish my taper. I have more drugs to taper. I know this is not a sprint or short run. It is a long run. I have been tapering for 7 years or even more not to discourage anyone.

I think I have been decreasing so fast with 0,4ml decrements monthly.  To calculate the 10 percent I have to put the current dose multiply it by 10 and divided by 100? Is this correct? I know how to taper but not math. 

If I wait long to take abilify and Cymbalta and biperiden I have less aka. Witht the night dose I am more consistant. At 10 pm, I take the klonopin 0,25mg and risperidone 0,86ml now. 

I can get pacing in the afternoon,and inner aka. That drives me crazy.

I find the easiest way to calculate a new dose is to multiple the current dose by 0.9 for a 10% reduction.  The result will be your new dose.

 

10% reduction    multiple by    0.9

7.5%                                           0.925

5%                                             0.95

2.5%                                          0.975

What times o'clock do you take your drugs, with their dosages?

 

Are you taking all your drugs consistently? Are you skipping doses of Abilify?

 

No, do not take all your drugs at once!

SurvivingAntidepressants.org normally recommends to stick to a consistent schedule of medication intake.

In other words, try not to change your daily schedule. For example, if you're used to taking Cymbalta at 8:00, and Abilify at 9:00, don't change that schedule (unless you have a very good reason).

 

I very much agree with SA.org on that. I've experienced the evils of schedule changes. Note, for example, that biperiden increases your Abilify blood levels (via CYP2D6 enzyme interaction). In summer 2020 I stupidly moved my evening biperiden dose to noon (coinciding with an Abilify dose); this made my Abilify blood levels skyrocket, leading to major side effects (neck twisting).

@AltostrataI take Cymbalta 60 mg and biperiden usually at 11 am even. twelve.I take abilify 2,1ml a little late like at 1 or 2 PM.Some othrers days at 3pm if I am really busy or out of the house, Today (8-5-2022) I took everything (abilify 2,1ml,cymbalta 60mg,and biperiden 4mg extended release ) at 12 in the afternoon..I never wake up at the same time. Abilify has a long half-life . I don´t know cymbalta and biperiden.

I know Altostrata,but I have been tapering all of these years and you given my good advice.  As far as I know I have been tapering since 2016 with the klonopin. I think 0,4ml of abilify monthly was a huge cut.I think I have kept myself tapering in the 10 % range,but I never finished tapering any psy drug. This time I will get to zero with abilify.

I used to have insomnia before i started abilify. I took melatonin 5mg controlled release (branded Ambroz), and also Sedorelax which is simply a combo of melissa and valeriana. Those two pills helped perfectly.

My friend @Nocturna had insomnia while tapering abilify. She updosed abilify a bit, and this helped remove the insomnia.

I'm with you there, I can absolutely feel the difference between 5 and e.g. 2 mg - dreams come back, compulsive eating is reduced, motivation is increased. I have two doctors because I switch countries for work and one of them says some people respond to really low doses of the drugs, despite the acute symptomatic.

Sorry for the late reply regarding insomnia. I did a few things, the combination eventually helped, but I had insomnia and mild depression for half a year this year:

 - Take the drug in the morning. Doctors say it has an "upping" effect. It's a safe change to make, I believe.

 - I'm taking melatonin 0,5-1 mg, not a lot, but it also has vitamin B3 and melissa+valerian added.

 - I'm taking L-tryptophan, that was a game changer for depression!

 - Got a 2 month unpaid vacation from work in the summer, went to the sea, mountain, walking with family.. that did wonders for my anxiety and was the first proper vacation I've had in probably 5 years.

 - Moderate sport like yoga, slow cycling, walks in the park or short hikes - that's giving me more motivation, also to get proper food. I don't restrain from meat, liver and similar.

 - As I have a PMS in the last few years, I take Angelica (it's a herbal additive) for ~10 days around my Luteal phase.

 

Ah, one more thing. Have you checked your blood sugar? I had elevated glicated hemoglobin (the long-term metric for glucose), so I bought a continuous glucose monitor and worn it for 2 weeks. Turned out in the night (around 2-3 am) the glucose was dropping below 3 mmol/l, then it would spike and that coincided with me waking up sweaty, anxious, extremely thirsty and going 2-3 times to the bathroom in just an hour. When the glucose was down to normal, I would fall back to sleep. My family has a history of diabetes type II and Aripiprazol definitely doesn't help with blood sugar regulation! So the endocrinologist prescribed me more sports and a low-sugar diet.

I am at 1,90ml of abilify having tremors on my pectorals and rib cages. Anyone having these crazy sxs? I take my pills same hours. These shaking is very annoying to say the least.
