Do you still take magnesium? I had a flare-up a few weeks ago where my body would vibrate head to toe. Was worse when I was lying in bed, but still felt it all day. Was pretty scary. When I was trying to figure out “why now”, I noted that I had recently tried a very small amount of magnesium glycinate (about 15mg) every other day.  Don’t know if it was just coincidence, but once I stopped the magnesium, the vibrations/tremors got a lot better.

I do still take magnesium citrate. I normally know when I take too much as I become weak in a specific way. It’s hard to describe but it’s a specific feeling. Magnesium only seems to help me otherwise.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s very interesting (sometimes frustrating) how people can react so differently to medications and supplements. We’re all looking for relief but there aren’t too many universal answers.

Trying new things can also be such a risk. Somethings help, others don’t and we simply can’t know until we try.

It seems magnesium is a commonality among us who suffer from sensitive nervous systems / medication withdrawal issues.

The fact that mangesium is the gateway through which we absorb other nutrients certainly adds some variables to the equation. Taking calcium (in the form of almond milk for me) along with magnesium citrate can really help calm down my nervous system.

I think you’re onto something with that form of magnesium and it’s connection to the tremors.

Glad you mentioned the Magnesium Citrate. Thanks. I’ll have to look at the difference between it and the glycinate.

Update: my symptoms have eased up throughout the week.

I had a particularly emotional and stressful evening last night. I found myself too “amped” up to sleep. I cut a 500mg vitamin C tablet in half and took the 250mg (just to try and be safe).

I read that vitamin C combats cortisol levels, at least in the short run.

I’m pleased to say, it worked! I felt my body calm down and I was able to sleep.

I wanted to share in case anyone else should come across this and benefit 👍🏻

Take care and be well my fellow warriors.

Good to hear, David. I had the same effect from vitamin C at times.

I’ve been at 2.5ml of liquid Zoloft (25mg pill equivalent) since 10-29-18.

I’m just holding there. I take a daily probiotic, magnesium citrate, vit D and fish oil in the morning and zertek, magnesium citrate and fish oil in the evening.

i take vit d around 2pm.

I just finished mowing the yard. Gosh, my heart was pounding hard. I almost became light headed.
I’m in relatively good shape but ever since last Monday I’ve had that tight chest, pounding heart feeling when I physically exert myself.

Bleh...

It was the day I mowed. I may have been more dehydrated than I realized and now that I think about it, that heat probably didn’t do me any favors with my sensitive nervous system.

Thank you for your input. I’m going to take that high cocoa chocolate out of my diet and see if that helps.

I took that Epsom salt bath and while it didn’t cure my symptoms/ flair up, it has helped a bit.

If nothing else, time shall heal.
Trying to be patient and take things none day at a time.

@David182 I hope you're well. Any updates on your health after you eliminated the cocoa? I've been having worse sleep and brain zaps lately and I can't pinpoint why. Something I'm doing is aggravating things. I do consume a dark hot chocolate drink daily in the b morning and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it. I actually drink it because I read that dark chocolate helps with neuro genesis so I consume more of it along with blueberries. Grateful to hear your feedback.

Summer 2016 - summer 2018: put on Lexapro, going from 5 mg up to 20 mg over the span of the 2 years (had visited shrink for help with obsessive thinking, was not diagnosed with anything in particular, just prescribed Lexapro 15 mins into first session)

Summer 2018: tapered down by 2.5 mg every few weeks

Protracted withdrawal ever since. 0-14 months began with a massive panic attack that landed me in ER, followed by prolonged anxiety, mental fog and a skin rash on my back. Was regularly consuming alcohol as did not know I was in WD. From then onwards, hit with worse myriad symptoms. Currently at 22 months and have electromagnetic sensitivity, brain zaps, brain fog, memory problems (especially name recall), twitch in right eyebrow, daily waking up at 3 or 4 a.m. with fast heartbeats and "sticky" negative memories, suicidal thoughts, rage episodes, temperature dysregulation, physical numbness & weakness, libido loss.

 Hi @SolarPlexus,

I’m doing better, thank you for asking. Most of my symptoms went away for the most part within the 1st week after quitting the 100% cacao chocolate.

I had to do some yard work as a nasty storm blew through and I lost a small tree last weekend. I accidentally over exerted myself and have been shaky and weak this week as well as having increased hunger, a few nights of waking up earlier than normal. It definitely didn’t feel good but it‘s easing up as well. I found myself feeling a bit tired and out of it yesterday but today I have just been exhausted! It’s a real struggle to do anything. I managed my half hour walk but boy, I’m tired today. At least it’s Saturday and I can rest up 👍🏻

When I ate the 100%, I actually had immediate stomach issues. I tried the 100% because the store I went to didn’t have my normal chocolate (which is only 70% cacao).

I began eating the chocolate for potential health benefits myself but have cut down a lot after my recent event (70% here and there and absolutely no 100%).

If I were in your shoes, I might cut that drink amount in half for each morning and see if that makes any difference one way or another. Halving it instead of stopping cold turkey seems like a safer way to test the waters. Also, since chocolate seems to be activating, organic olive oil might prove beneficial instead. It’s a healthy type of fat and it hasn’t negatively effected me but as we know mileage can vary from person to person. Just make sure you get the pure stuff and avoid sulfites at all costs. That stuff messes up my cognitive function in a bad way.

Speaking of cognitive issues, the last time I ate blueberries, it had the same effect (couldn’t focus/felt out of it.)

I enjoy blueberries and used to eat them often some time ago but the last time I tried them was not good experience.

I hope cutting back on the chocolate helps you out. Maybe the blueberries are a factor too. Thank you for reaching out. I hope my experiences help.

@David182 Thank you for your feedback! Glad to hear you're feeling better. I quit the hot chocolate beverage but the zaps are still there. Sorry to hear about your tree experience. Yes our nervous systems are fragile right now and anything can agitate them. I listened to some intense music for a while (house/pop/rock) and then afterwards had to chew gum, drink lavender tea and get my mind lost in cooking to calm the inflammatory feeling I had in my head. Zaps still ongoing. By far one of my toughest symptoms because it's unrelenting. It's hard to know what's causing what because I eat some things at times then wake up in the middle of the night with the feeling of snakes slithering through my stomach. It reacts very strongly to certain foods/ingredients. I will try the organic olive oil suggestion. I was drinking a turmeric beverage with organic coconut oil at some point to ease inflammation. Now I'm drinking water boiled with ginger to handle the hay fever I just got (evidently another WD-induced ailment) as I don't want to take anti-histamine pills for fear of their impact on me in WD. So trying to fight the allergy naturally. I think blueberries were fine, didn't feel any negative impact. Now I am eating more cabbage as I heard it helps boost GABA levels in the brain, the deficiency of which is linked to brain zaps. Thank you again David for your helpful input. I will certainly pay more attention to the foods I'm eating and their impact on me. May we all heal soon!

I feel for you, @SolarPlexus

some of these symptoms are downright awful.

I remember having brain zaps when coming off of Effexor many years ago (2009?).

Anytime I get virus cold, I’m doing a warm compress to my face, steam inhalation, Apple cider vinegar with cayenne pepper, etc and avoid medications at all costs also. That cayenne pepper sure helps me with opening the sinuses. Even a small amount of decongestant was too activating, gave me restless legs and messed up my sleeping. Tylenol gives me horrible brain fog but interestingly enough I’ve been ok taking one ibuprofen pill for the last few years (as needed).

This is one crazy journey we’re on. Thank you! Yes indeed, may healing come soon.

Also, thank you for the info about the cabbage / Gabba connection. I was unaware. I’ll keep that one in mind (no pun intended : D )

We’ll get there. One day at a time. We WILL come out of this stronger than before!

@David182 thank you for your words. I needed to hear them this morning. Had awful sleep and woke up in the middle of the night with anxiety, shortness of breath and my right ear clogged again. Felt like Hell. Something I ate or did triggered me, so I don't know if it's the cabbage or gluten I consumed yesterday or the natural saline nasal spray I used for my blocked nostril (to avoid antihistamines) or the music I listened to. It's just madness this process, walking on eggshells. I will go back to strict Paleo diet. That was calming. And I will repeat your words. We will come out of this stronger than before, we will come out of this stronger than before, we will come out of this stronger than before.....

Hi, All!

I hope this message finds you doing well.

I was doing better than I thought I was for a while. Things were pretty stable but I’m still really sensitive, so I try not to rock the boat. As long as I keep my routine, I’m really not too bad.

I played drums really aggressively last Sunday and boy, did that catch up with me. I did well the time before when I played them but now I am dealing with really bad sleep, slight heart palpitations, feeling excessively warm, shaking with physical excursion, cloudy thinking, etc.

It seems it took from Sunday to Tuesday night to catch up with me. Funny how these nervous system issue take their time to present : p

I haven’t had a setback like this in quite a while. I didn’t think I was overexerting myself that much  : /

I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend and resting up.

I am searching through my posts but am I having a hard time finding something.

Will my sensitivity decrease and can expect healing even though I choose to remain on Zoloft? Also, will my daily antihistamine dose interfere with my healing? I once forgot my antihistamine a long time ago and the brain zaps were pretty strong the next day. I’d rather not be on a antihistamine the rest of my life so I may have to taper that some day.

I’m just trying not to rock the boat right now.

Also just a FYI, I haven’t made any changes to my medication/supplement daily intake in a long time (over a year?).

Well, this newest setback is what it is. It too shall pass, sometimes like a kidney stone but it will pass, lol.

Despite the horrible sleep, I’m not sleepy. I’m kind of wired actually. It’s nothing new, just stinks to be dealing with this. Looking back at my posts, though, it is encouraging to see how far I’ve come, so that’s a good note.

Sending good vibes to you all.

Hey all,

It's been a while. Not much is different. I feel about normal so long as I don't do too much outside of what I know my body can handle. I still have to be diligent to not throw things out of balance (as much as they are in balance).

I started the Wim Hoff method about a year ago or so. I think it helps. I do the breathing and cold exposure exercises but I won't / can't do the physical exertions as I know that will only set me back. There is a lot of scientific data backing up this method.

I'd say be careful  in considering it depending on where you are in your journey and do you due diligence in researching it. I'm not claiming miracles in it but it appears to have helped many people in significant ways. I wouldn't even consider it if it didn't have all the scientific data.

Like I said, it seems to help me and if nothing else, I don't feel worse (it's very relaxing and I actually feel better after) from doing the breathing and even cold exposure exercises. As well, it feels good to at least have control over something / feel like I'm doing something to help my healing.

Other than that and overall, I still have my setbacks and have to wonder if I will ever heal from this.

My father has similar symptoms that developed around the same age I developed mine. Maybe there's something else, something extra. I tried another and different neurologist in hopes of figuring out something but he claimed it was just anxiety as well. I know that isn't the case and I think many here would agree.

One day at a time...

Blessings and healing to you all.
