Happy to hear you got some sleep. I guess missing the omega 3 and suffering adverse effects may indicate it is beneficial and more than just a placebo effect. Every little bit helps. K

Had a rough night last night. Woke in a panic, felt as if I was suffocating. If I sat up the feeling subsided, lay back down and the panic flared up again. It got so bad at one point I woke my husband during one of my panicking squeals. I can't explain it... it's sort of like an involuntary squeak. I was so panicky I was wishing I had Ativan to calm me down. I'm glad now that I didn't. I made it through by walking around the house for a bit, then playing a game on the computer before finally heading back to bed. I know a lot of it has to do with having gained a lot of weight lately.

Lack of sleep = hungry hippo.

Stress = hungry hippo.

Hungry hippo + hungry hippo = black hole of never-ending eating.

I'm quite aware it's a self-destructive pattern, now I just have to break the cycle.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

somewhere after 2008- Switched to Cipralex started at 5mg upped to 20mg

2017- added Wellbutrin 150mg to Cipralex 20mg

occasional use of Ativan 0.5mg sublingual, usually given 7-10 tabs  -- (last used Nov 2017 ... previous? my mom's death probably? 2013)

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

24 Jan. 2018 - Reinstated Cipralex 5mg

31 Jan. 2018 - started Cetirizine Hydrochloride for severe allergies due to tattoo --- stopped 24 Feb. 2018

26 Feb. 2018 - Coversyl 4mg

Currently: 5mg Cipralex , 16mg Serc (for Meniere's), 4mg Coversyl (high blood pressure)

Supplements: 300mg Magnesium

Had a decent sleep last night. Didn't have a panic attack or even wake up except to pee, so woohoo bonus! I'm still tired, but then again, I'm tired most days.

Well, I thought at first it was just my mind playing tricks on me. I got a tattoo before Christmas, and I didn't feel it was healing well. I thought maybe it was me overreacting.  It was very itchy and dry, not healing like my other tats had. I just thought I was just being paranoid. But the pain was getting worse, and I was now having to take Tylenol to calm it.

I woke up in pain last night. I took Tylenol to get me through to the morning. I went to see the doctor first thing this morning, and it turns out it is infected. Oh JOY, oh BLISS. So I'm on antibiotics & Tylenol for the next week. On the bright side, the pain has kept my mind off any WDS... I couldn't even tell you if I've had any lately. lol

This is my 5th. This one was supposed to be a set of light blue butterflies on my inner arm. Something to look at and remind me to stay calm and relax. It's been a comedy of errors, as it was done by an artist I didn't know, and I made the mistake of not looking at his portfolio beforehand. His "artistic license" of what I wanted turned out to be dark and nothing like what I had in mind. On top of that, he was heavy handed with the needle. I'm not sure if that is the cause of the infection or what, but it didn't make knowing if the pain I was feeling was from the tattoo or an infection within it.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

somewhere after 2008- Switched to Cipralex started at 5mg upped to 20mg

That's not good 😞 Try and get some rest and hopefully a more talented artist can rectify your butterflies 🦋 in the future. K

Last night was rough. Tossing and turning getting very little sleep. The pain is intense with constant itchy dry skin. I put on my sweater this morning and caught some of the scabs. Not sure, but I think I woke the dead with that screech. Brain zaps started up again today, but they are nothing compared to the tattoo pain. Every so often it's just a quick zap, a shiver, then "normal"? whatever that is now.

Hi Jane, sorry to hear of your pain is getting worse.  I happen to be a nurse and used to work on a surgical ward...lots of wound care!  Often the correct dressing can help wonders. What do you have on it at the moment? Anything? Is it oozing? Or just dry and red? K

I have been using a Polysporin with antibiotic cream every 4 hours, after washing gently with an unscented soap and patting dry with paper towel. I leave it uncovered during the day, and use a non-stick gauze pad at night (and now whenever I have to put a sweater on, lol).  No ooze thank God, just dry and itchy, and throbbing.

Actually, it was because of a spontaneous bleeding episode two nights ago that made me think the tattoo was infected. I was watching tv when I had a sharp jabbing pain, looked down to see 2 cracks had just burst and started bleeding.

I'd stay away from the soap. It is probably making it more irritated. Saline solution is best. Try and let it air dry, if you can.  I would suggest a wound gel, covered with the gauze you are using.  A gel will help hydrate the wound and optimise healing, decrease pain and itching, whilst decreasing the risk of scarring.  I don't want anything happening to your butterflies! If it starts oozing...that's another approach. K

Thanks Kristine, I'll have to wait until Tuesday for the stores to open to get a gel. I'll stop using the soap. My husband has a first aid box in his workshop, I'll see what sort of items he has in it.  I'm taking my last antibiotic for the day and calling it a night. Happy New Year, may 2018 bring us closer to "normal" and further from our WDS. Hugs

Hi Jane, I'm hoping you are experiencing some windows and have been able to get some sleep   How's your arm? If you do get some wound gel... I would suggest not using the antibiotic cream at the same time. K

Hi Kristine, yes I got the gel. Actually, the pharmacy was open on the 1st. so I was able to get it and talk to my pharmacist. He also told me not to use the Polysporin anymore, as it was too thick and my tattoo looked more like it needed moisturizing. The pain has levelled off, and it's now more of pins and needles, itchiness than anything else. I still have a hard, dry patch, about the size of a dime (1.5 cm) but the rest has all cleared up. The rash is still there, causing the insane itchiness, but I think I have the infection under control now.  I must have, as I felt the brain zaps today, lol.

Sleeping has gotten a bit better, and honestly, the zaps are nothing compared to the infection. So hopefully this is a window, and hopefully, it stays clear for a few days. Hope you're doing well.

I wish. They'll chalk it up to incorrect aftercare, or something else I did wrong. Not even bothering. My husband says wait til it's healed then go to my usual artist to fix it. At this point, I'm in "no-way-in-hell-is-any-tattooist-coming-near-me" mode. We'll see.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

Hi Jane,

I am diabetic too and my blood glucose levels have been all over the map....going up to 225 and then down to the 60s.  How is yours holding?  It's hard to tell lows anymore because the symptoms are so similar to all this other mess going on.

Paxil 20 mg from 2002-2017

Started Tapering

Developed poopout and withdrawal symptoms late 2017

Landed in hospital with serotonin syndrome  Dec 11, 2017 pulled off paxil

Tried prozac, bad side effects, discontinued/attempted paxil reinstatement Dec 27, 2017

Other meds:  Levothyroxine, .25 i rbesartan, 300 mg metformin, 850 mg x 3 glimperide, 2 mg gemfibrozil 600 mg x 2, multivitamin

Hi Needhelp, I have no clue how, but my bgs have been awesome. My A1C was 5.2. Unbelievable considering my diet has been mostly carbs, chocolate and caffeine.  My diabetic symptoms usually only consist of extreme fatigue and lethargy. I guess I'm lucky that way. Hope you can get everything under control so that your bgs stabilize. Good luck hun and thanks for the pop in.

It's been a bizarre wonky day. I slept in, wow. I am thankful I have an alarm set for me to take my antibiotics, or I would have slept right through the day. We're gearing up for a winter storm, so I had to do some running around. My mood is a bundle of nerves. I cry easily now, even more so than before. If something goes wrong, simple things like husband misinterpreting a text, Niagara Falls opens up and BAM! I'm bawling. If that's the worst of the remaining symptoms, I'll take it. A flicker or two of brain zaps a day, nothing outrageous or impossible to ignore. The edginess seems to be settling down, but I'm still edgy because of the tattoo & it's symptoms, but it's a different edginess.  Right now, I seem to be looking out a fairly clear window.

Well, that window crashed wide open. It's 2 am and I'm awake due to horrible RLS. I can't even think straight I'm so tired.  I spent most of the day cuddled up in blankets as the shivers came back, though thankfully not as bad as before. I had a few crying fits, and a complete yelling meltdown as well. But the RLS is just hell right now.

Hello dear Jane 🙂 Why do we have to suffer so? That was a rhetorical question.  Wish I could wrap you up in a bundle and make all this suffering go away. I'm trying to send you strength across the oceans but you might only feel a teeny weeny ping cause this girl ain't got much left in the tank 😉 Hugs. K

It's been several days of hell. One thing after another, leading to the boiling point (no pun intended) after spilling hot melted wax all over my hand yesterday. I spent several hours in howling, bawling, crying fits. I'd pretty much given up yesterday. Seemed like everything in my body was fighting me. I have several large patches of itchy, bumpy skin... nape of neck, arms, new tattoo, and also on an older tattoo. I'm seeing my doctor today to find out wtf is going on. My husband wonders if I'm having an allergic reaction to the fish oil, or magnesium supplements.

Nights are filled with horrible panic attacks... feeling I'm suffocating, can't breathe, trapped or claustrophobic feelings

Days are filled with waves of wailing and tears, headaches (from crying I think), lethargy, and exhaustion

I'm really doubting coming off antidepressants now. I'm worried I can't even restart Cipralex or even start a new drug. I'm slowly losing hope and my depression is taking over.

It's almost 2 months since stopping cold turkey. I want to go back on them, but don't want to send my system into a worse tailspin. WTF do I do?

Hi Jane,  I'm so sorry lovely.... that sounds like a horror show 😞  It sounds like an allergic reaction... hope your appointment with the doc is productive.  Just wondering when you finished the antibiotics? There are quite a few people on SA who have had adverse reactions to antibiotics...there's a section about somewhere.  Hopefully, a mod will come along shortly with some advice about what to do. Hugs from me to you.  K 🌻

@Downbutnotout thanks hun

@Kristine  I was done the antibiotics on Sunday. No adverse reaction from that... I think. My doctor believes it to be atopic dermatitis, probably due to the weather. He has me on a 1% hydrocortisone cream, which did seem to settle it down when first applied 90 minutes ago. However, it's starting to get itchy again. The funniest thing is, during that period of non-itchiness, I could feel the brain zaps. I haven't felt those with all the itching. As much as I was distraught and panicking earlier about reinstating, I didn't ask my doctor about it. I know it's WDS. And as long as I'm semi in control, I can handle that. However, yesterday, and this morning, thanks to all night RLS and itching, I was quite ready to jump back on to antidepressants.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

Hey Jane, apologies for the late response...crappy day yesterday. Bit better today.  Also wanted to bump your post in the hope that a mod has some advice.  Any improvement on the rash?  I wish I had the answers.  All I can do is let you know I care and I'm hoping you are getting some sleep and having some windows no matter how brief.  Sending you hugs. Hi Kristine,

No problems, we all know and understand how these stupid waves and windows work.  That was me over the weekend. I tried to read and post, but just couldn't. Oh the rash is growing. I am thinking I'm going to need a vat of cream to dip myself in every few hours. It'd be easier than locating the newest batch. Thanks for the bump, though I don't think it'll work. I'll just keep plugging away.

Hey Jane,  Have you considered good old 'calamine lotion' ?  Might at least give you some relief from the itchiness and its relatively cheap and can be bought in a large bottle...slather it on!  Also paw paw ointment on smaller areas that are more red and raw? Hugs. K

*smacks head* DUH of course calamine lotion. Why didn't I think of that? My mom's favourite itch reliever!! I remember as a kid being this pink & white blotchy kid. I should buy a few bottles, and drench myself at the end of my shower. :P

No "red and raw" areas. That's the strangest part. Raised bumps you can barely see, mostly feel. A faint hue of "blushing" as my husband puts it, but INSANE amounts of itching. If you look at the areas, it looks like goosebumps. Weird. Never had this before in my life. *sigh* Probably just another stress indicator my body has developed.

...most households have a bottle of the stuff in the back of the bathroom cupboard...usually dried and crusty on top so it's difficult to get the lid off.  I remember covering my son with it, head to toe, when he had chicken pox.  Unique smell, but I kinda like the smell!  Yeah, fill your bath and bathe in it! 😜 Glad it's not red and raw. Yeah, come to think of it, I'm sure we have a bottle or two. Probably both are expired, lol. I've always loved the smell of calamine AND campho-phenique. Add iodine to the list and you have every medicine cabinet from the 1970's LOL!

QUESTION: Could Coversyl, even in tiny dosages, aggravate or trigger WDS?

I'm really doubting coming off antidepressants now. I'm worried I can't even restart Cipralex or even start a new drug. I'm slowly losing hope and my depression is taking over.

It's almost 2 months since stopping cold turkey. I want to go back on them, but don't want to send my system into a worse tailspin. WTF do I do?

Thanks for the bump, though I don't think it'll work. I'll just keep plugging away.

It's been 3 weeks since I asked the question about Coversyl... nothing. Which is why I doubted a mod would be in to give me advice about the Cipralex.

Maybe it's cuz I didn't follow the guidelines and quit cold turkey (before I found SA). Maybe they think those were rhetorical questions. Maybe it's my sarcastic, flip attitude that makes people think I'm not seriously in pain or need help. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a website. But I see mods in other threads, and I'm wondering why I haven't had any response.

As you can tell from my aggravation, it's been another few crappy days/nights. This itch is driving me more insane and read that stress is a factor. Meditation has only taken me so far. In fact, the strength and concentration it takes to NOT stress about the itch are stressing me out.

I'd seriously like to know if it's TOO LONG since quitting cold turkey to either reinstate Cipralex (remember I can't get liquid), or if I should go on a different med.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

Hi Jane, I should be asleep but I'm not (moved house today 😳) .must have been waiting for you to pop up 🙂  I can sense and understand your frustration.  I think it may be best to give the mods the benefit of the doubt,  I've noticed many new members joining and if your intro page keeps disappearing to the second page it can become lost.  I don't think it is anything personal.  You sound like you are in the pit of W/d hell at the moment and this itchy rash sure isn't helping 😕 Hopefully a mod will answer soon.  Sending you hugs Kristine xo
