😞 I'm sorry Jane.  I really hope you get some sleep tonight.  I know those feelings/symptoms you describe.  My left foot in particular has a life of its own.  Hugs to you from me. K xo

Thanks Kristine. My RLS feels like someone took a live wire and pressed it up against me. I jump and my leg flinches. It's like when the doctor uses that hammer to test your reflexes... boing!

As always, you manage to find the funny in the middle of Hades.   I am going to use your term from now on when I am going through my symptoms.  It will be something like please let the surfboard hit me over the head NOW! I am sorry you are going through this grief. What a nightmare.

Hi Jane. Also worrying that I won't sleep tonight. It's nearly 2am here and my body is full of energy though my head is tired. Hope we can all find rest.

Had a rough night last night. Very little sleep. Had a Meniere's attack today, spinning room, balance was horrendous. I bent over to feed the dog and damned near landed on top of her. I was exhausted all day, and finally gave in and went to bed early, 9 pm. Woke up with a jolt shortly after 10...

  • heart beating so loud it felt like it was coming out of my chest (still feels that way 90 minutes later)
  • panic so intense I felt as if I was entombed under my covers
  • crying fit, feeling as though this hell will never end

I came downstairs, bawling, saying to my husband "I can't take it anymore. I can't take the WDs."

I see my doctor on Thursday, but I think I'll try to get an emergency appointment tomorrow. I can't get liquid Cipralex, so I'm going to have to try reinstating at 5mg. I hope this isn't a fatal mistake.

Saw my doctor early this morning. While he doesn't truly believe, or understand, that this is WD, he was willing to prescribe 5mg tabs for me. He suggested I restart at 10mg, but I said I'd rather do the smallest dose possible. He's given me enough tabs to do 5mg for a week, and 10 mg for 3 weeks, should I want to increase. We set another appointment for 4 weeks time but told me if things didn't settle to call for a sooner date.

I took my first 5mg tab 3 hours ago. So far, so good.

Hey Lovely Jane,  You are a ray of sunshine on this site and I'm sorry these horrible symptoms keep revving up in intensity.  Lack of sleep just makes it worse.   Your an intelligent lady and all you can do is listen to your body, make a decision and move forward.  A reinstatement of 5mg is not the end of the world if it brings you some relief.  You did after all cold turkey from 20mg a little over two months ago (including Wellbutrin).  You are in my thoughts and I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for you. Thanks Kristine. I'm hoping by reinstating sleep will come again. The lack of sleep has restarted my Meniere's. In fact, I'll have to add that med to my sig, as I'm back on to it for the time being. I need all the thoughts and crossed items as possible.

Not sure if these symptoms are from my Meniere's or the reinstatement or what... dizziness has increased in the last hour, and brought on nausea. Now I know both of these symptoms well with Meniere's, but thought I'd post them as a note for today.

Hi Jane,

I wanted to send good wishes for your reinstatement.  I had to reinstate at one point and think that choice saved me a lot of agony. Looking back I am very glad I made that choice.  I hope that this reinstatement gives you the much needed sleep your body is crying out for, as well as relief from the other symptoms.

Not bad sleep last night. Was pretty "normal" all day, until about an hour before my next dose. Then I became overly agitated. Mind you, as I've said to my husband, "stupid is the new common sense". I hate stupid people and I'm surrounded by them.  Dizzies kicked in again an hour after my second dose, so I'm going to assume it's the Cipralex.

Wed. Jan 24

12:45 - took first 5mg Cipralex dose

17:00 - dizziness, followed by nausea

17:15 - took 16mg Serc to settle dizzies

23:30 - bedtime, not as panicky as usual

Thurs. Jan 25

10:00 - woke up (only woke a few times throughout night for bathroom breaks)

11:30 - edginess started, turned into full agitation (swearing & hypersensitive to idiots)

12:45 - took second 5mg Cipralex dose

13:30 - dizzies set in

14:00 - took 16mg Serc, hoping to avoid nausea

Thanks LRH. I expect it'll take at least a few weeks, possibly a month or so. I hope it doesn't take another 10 weeks of hell. At this point, I'm not even considering tapering down. If reinstating settles the WD then I can be content at 5mg till the cows come home.

Hey Jane,  I'm sorry you have been hit with nausea :( and the dizziness doesn't help. I'm hoping these will settle and your sleep continues to improve.

I can relate.  In fact my tolerance level in general is very low. The "normal" me is very social but now I'm reclusive.  Purely from a survival perspective.  Self preservation.  Too fragile. I'm not sure if you are able to avoid some of these people.  Not sure if you have heard the following...but it sums up 'stupid' and hopefully will make you smile...😉

ROFL... Yeah, wow. I hope that was faked, otherwise, wow, just ... WOW!

Unfortunately, I'm a hopeless shopaholic and need to go to stores every few days for my addiction, lol. Actually, I'm a picky shopper, and can't relegate the chore to anyone. Plus, with past experiences (me blowing up over the wrong items bought), neither my husband nor my son will go pick up anything for me anymore, lol.

I 100% agree. I had to change my mindset on this topic. For such a long time I was only focussed on getting off. Then I realised that Although it has taken me ten years to get down to 2mg I am still living!  Ok, the last few months have been hell but that was my own fault for dropping too much too quickly. I would rather be on 2mg for the rest of my life and still able to function than be off and in hell.

Yeah, I've changed my mindset too. My doctor said the other day "this isn't the first time you've just stopped your meds", I replied, "yes, but it's the first time I got WDS from doing so". I'm not going through this hell again. One little pill once a day is a small sacrifice for peace of mind (and body at this point).

I get the heart palpitations too. I have realised that for me it is one of the symptoms of extreme anxiety. The more I focus on it the worse it gets.

That would make sense, as my eczema has restarted on my arms. And yes, the more I focused on the eczema, the worse it became... so I have to stop worrying about it. Hahaha, yeah like that will happen.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's fake or not..if not..well, what can I say?!?!   I'm the opposite in the shopping arena.  My pet hate is clothes shopping.  Especially,  change rooms and the annoying shopping assistants who come to the change room door hollering "how are you going in there?"....always happens when I'm half naked. "I'm fine.." I say, as they start to edge open the cubical door..."No, really I'm fine, I've got this...no I don't want it in red, I'll let you know when I'm done...".  It's so exhausting!  I do however like shopping for food.  Farmers markets are my favourites.

Im sorry to hear you are having heart palpitations.  As always I'm sending you cyber hugs. K

Oh I hate clothes shopping too. I'm too big for "normal" stores and too small for "big" stores. UGH. And bras? OMG do NOT get me started on bras!!! Luckily most of our dressing room doors have locks on them.

Today we went to Costco... big warehouse type store that sells everything under the sun. OH EM GEE the idiots that were there today. By the time we left, I was about 45 minutes until my med time, I was ready to KILL. How people like that survive is beyond me. My nerves were shot, and I was desperately waiting to take my meds.

Thanks for the hugs.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

2006- Effexor started at 75mg upped to 300mg

somewhere after 2008- Switched to Cipralex started at 5mg upped to 20mg

2017- added Wellbutrin 150mg to Cipralex 20mg

occasional use of Ativan 0.5mg sublingual, usually given 7-10 tabs  -- (last used Nov 2017 ... previous? my mom's death probably? 2013)

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

24 Jan. 2018 - Reinstated Cipralex 5mg

31 Jan. 2018 - started Cetirizine Hydrochloride for severe allergies due to tattoo --- stopped 24 Feb. 2018

26 Feb. 2018 - Coversyl 4mg

Fri Jan. 26 (con't)

20:45 - 15ml fish oil, 400mg vitamin E, 300mg magnesium     ------ forgot to add this to Wed & Thur nights, roughly same time

22:00 - decided to go to bed early, extreme tired

Sat Jan. 27

5:30 - eczema woke me, intensely itchy

8:30 - woke up, felt rested, first time in a long time

11:30 - went out shopping, frustration, edginess from stupidity

12:15 - ready to KILL anyone and anything around me

12:45 - 5mg Cipralex, 16mg Serc

3:30 - headache, took 500mg Tylenol

Heart palpitations seem to have settled, or at least lessened. Bedtime edginess, and waking in panic attacks have ceased... THANK GOD! I'm still edgy during the day and find that, at the 23-hour mark of the meds, I get easily annoyed and moody b!tchy.

Is it the coffee and cookies or the meds taken around the same time?  Perhaps leave the coffee and cookies out and see if those symptoms are still evident.

I am trying to replace ‘sweets’ with fruit. Not easy! I emptied my pantry of tempting junk and filled my fruit basket up instead! Now every time I crave something sweet the only option I have is fruit. There is definitely something addictive about sugar! A nectarine vs a cookie is not quite the same 🤪

For me, fruit is equivalent to cookies or chocolate. They can have roughly the same amount of carbs and sugars, so they spike me just as bad. I really need to get back to eating low carb, I just find myself craving the blasted things so bad lately.

Think of K-Mart about the size of a stadium. Horrible.

My eczema had cleared for about 24 hours, maybe a bit longer but restarted after restarting the fish oils. I'm hoping *fingers crossed* it's an allergy to the fish oils. But of course, it's probably another round of stress itching. I've been stressing about an upcoming anniversary, so that's why I'm thinking it's due to that.

Thanks hun. Let's hope we all escape... sooner than later!

Currently: 5mg Cipralex , 16mg Serc (for Meniere's), 4mg Coversyl (high blood pressure)

Supplements: 300mg Magnesium

ROFL, no way, you're not stupid! I love Tarzan & Jane! Though I always wanted to name a pet Cheetah.

I use a program called Fast Image Resizer. It's as easy as pie to use. ---- I just downloaded it now to make sure there's no issues, no malware & no viruses

  1. Google "Fast Image Resizer"
  2. Click the first link which takes you to download.cnet.com
  3. Wait for it to download (IGNORE ALL "click me" buttons, it will download on its own) -- file will be called FastImageResizer_098.exe
  4. Double click to install, follow instructions

Double click icon to open -- pick the size resolution you want (for profile pic, I'd say the smallest) then simply drag the photo and let the program do its thing

There are options to change IF you want. But it's all really simple.

Sorry, didn’t realise you were diabetic 😢

No worries, hun. Technically I'm no longer labelled diabetic, as my A1C is "normal". But I also know that it doesn't take much to spike my sugars, so regardless of my A1C, I consider myself diabetic.

Thank you Jane 🙂 Unfortunately, isn't compatible with my iPad...but trying other methods.  Are you heart palpitations easing? Thinking of you. K xo

Ah yes, I forgot you were on an iPad. The heart palpitations are starting to ease, thankfully. I wish this eczema would though.  Hope you're doing better, hugs.

My memory is a sieve.  What I can remember:

occasional use of Ativan 0.5mg sublingual, usually given 7-10 tabs  -- (last used Nov 2017 ... previous? my mom's death probably? 2013)

Cold turkey Nov 13, 2017 (used Ativan once a day when it was unbearable until Rx finished)

24 Jan. 2018 - Reinstated Cipralex 5mg

31 Jan. 2018 - started Cetirizine Hydrochloride for severe allergies due to tattoo --- stopped 24 Feb. 2018

26 Feb. 2018 - Coversyl 4mg
