Saw the psych doctor Wed and he now thinks should taper the CLonazepam first by .01mg every 5 days with a liquid...and had the amount of time it would take to get off it...think he said a year...thats important  to him.  He has another person who is on

a benzo and has a touchy system and he talked to a pharmacist friend and apparently this was the thought.  Im so tired I didnt argue, forgot to leave a check and forgot to get samples.  Mush mind.

I continue to cross over to the new CLonazepam...put another new capsule in last night .... today was ok this morning but after the Viibryd with food after bout 10 minutes of  chicken, lettuce, some potatoes and then milk and coconut water regime I felt awful.  Same thing different day....just to what degree.

I told him about eyes/lip swelling and also how I could not take Prevacid when I first started them...didnt feel well at all...my doctor had me take the dispersable and I had no problems...she felt it was the dyes in the capsule and was correct I think.  This evening I still dont feel well, though now by about 1115 I start to feel better as usual, I looked up the Sucralfate I reacted to and the Prevacid and the Viibryd 10mg and all have the red #40 dye in them.  Since I reacted to the Viibryd right away I am wondering if it isn't  the dye in that as well as when I went up to the 20mg I seemed better.  20mg has yellow dye but I was still using the yellow CLonazepam and doing ok until the rapid taper then could not use it anymore, or the Amiloride or the liquid potassium, and also no Prevacid after that.

I texted the doctor about this and he suggested using the blue 40mg Viibryd for compounding rather than the red...wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

Food continues to be a probleml...eating chicken and lettuce and some potatoes right now along with the milk and coconut water that I start after the Viibryd as well.  Hard to know what is most offensive.  I am hoping the allergist can help with that.

Tonight I am feeling a bit overwhelmed, incredibly fatigued, and a bit hopeless at the direction of all this....lots of tears tonight.  I love you all and think about you daily.  💜

If anyone has thought i would be grateful.  Tonight I took my 2 new Actavist compounded capsules (I already switched the 2 at 5ish to Actavist) along with 5 of the blue compounded.  I have been getting chills after the CLonazepam for quite awhile.  Today I have not done well with any med or any food or drink.  After the CLonazepma tonight I am SO cold and my eyes and below lower lip are puffy and my eyes are so scratchy and irritated as well which is new. My nose runs with pretty much everything.

I dont know whether to try an antihistamine or whether to just stop food for a bit...but cant stop the milk and coconut water and I am not doing well with those either.  And was hoping to stabilize better through this crossover before tapering.  But I am wondering If I just have to just start getting off one of the meds as my system just seems to be getting more and more unsettled.

Thank you so much!

oh, Rabe, so sorry it's got you like this - hope you get a bit of an upturn, you do have a lot to deal with, drug and food interactions.

Sorry I can't help you with any thoughts how you might ameliorate your symptoms - I have no idea what could be causing these symptoms.

Don't know if this is of any help to you but for most of this week I've been down a bit of a hole and there have been lots of tears and just hanging on - but today I feel a bit better and am able to rest a bit - you could get one of those days soon.  I hope so.

lots of love to you

Hi Rabe,

When do you see the allergist?

I hope that this doctor helps.  Oh man Rabe.......I'm so sorry it's so darn difficult right now.

How do these new symptoms correlate with when you started the crossover to your new generic Actavis(yellow dye) brand of clonazepam compounded capsules?

When, what date, did you start your cross over?

And then when did the allergic symptoms start?  Going back a bit I found you noted allergies to food on April 27th.

Are you able to keep logs at home or daily notes with the mush brain/mind?  Those could prove really helpful, to yourself, and then the allergist, and then on getting down to just what is causing what?

Are you getting out of isolation a bit more?  Try not to just stay in your head at home alone too much, okay Rabe?  Don't past trip either........stay in the present.  I do see you trying to correlate NOW with all kinds of past experiences and reactions.  I'm just not sure that's helping too much right now.

No change in filler, correct?  Referring here to your new generic Actavis(yellow dye) brand of 0.1 mg clonazepam compounded capsules.

Are your daily logs of any help?  To help pinpoint more accurately what factor is at play with the allergies.   I read through your narratives, both here and on your benzo thread and it's just not clear.  If these, new allergic symptoms, are due to food or your most recent medication formulation change.  Or both.   And perhaps an uptick of anxiety as you adjust to a new generic as well.  It looks like so far you are up to

.3 mg of the new and then  .6 mg of the old with that crossover.   For a total daily dose of .9 mg clonazepam.

You've had essentially no changes in your Viibryd since January now.  Try not to overly worry about the fill appearances if you can.......okay Rabe?

How's your weight holding up?

I wouldn't stop food, although you don't necessarily need to take food with your clonazepam, as you know.

Why can't you stop the milk or coconut water?   Or try a brief elimination of one or the other.  As I recall your potassium has been stable for quite some time, with the exception of after your bowel cleanout pre- colonoscopy and then shortly after.  And then it usually runs low when it's off, correct?  Did you find any other foods with potassium yet that you tolerate?

Are you getting some water in every day.  Just plain filtered water?

Perhaps you could negotiate with the psych doctor a bit more at your next visit Rabe?  I know you were feeling good about getting rid of the Viibryd, or at least down in dosage with it, not too long ago, due to adverse effects from it all along.  With the exception of when you got out of treatment on a higher dosage.  I don't think a higher dosage is the answer at present time.  Do you?

I know it's hard Rabe.........as you come from a family with medical doctors........to start to partner equally with them.  And especially with mush mind.

You could see if your psych doctor might allow you to continue to taper the Viibryd down a bit further before any clonazepam taper.

And I'm sure he means well........was his other patient with sensitivities on Viibryd too?

Keep us posted and updated Rabe.  I looked last night but haven't seen your other thread yet today.  I'll go take a peek now before I head on.

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

Sorry about that Rabe, if that comment, suggest by me, wasn't taken in the spirit that it was given.  As I was reading through it became less and less clear what might be causing what.  And then you were backtracking a couple of years quite a bit in one narrative.

Are you kidding?  You're reacting to your blue Sandoz clonazepam too now?!!!!  Pretty soon, fortunately you'll be off that, correct?  You are about 1/3 new to 2/3 old now with your crossover.  And you do want to go slooowly.........3-7 days before you add more new to the total daily amount.

And okay......so the lip and eye swelling allergy symptoms have been predominant for a couple of years now then.  Most recently occurring with greater frequency.  The sneezing is not as worrisome to me overall, nor the runny nose.

Good on the notes then.  Can you get them organized?  This is really hard for anyone to sort out, I think otherwise.  And it might be really helpful to prepare now for the allergist appointment.  So you feel organized.......and can present your concerns succinctly.

Honestly......I hate to see you doing any shifts with anything else right now, medication wise, as you are so very sensitive  AND you are in the midst of changing clonazepam generics.  I'm referring to the Viibryd, as far as changing that anytime soon.  I'd rather see you get you settled in after the clonazepam and then get back to microtapers of the Viibryd without changing anything about that up.  Is it the coating on the Viibryd with the dye?

So many variables Rabe.  And so sorry that you just continue feeling at your lowest yuck, ick.  So glad you saw your daughter.  I wish she'd make the drive to see you more often.

I've got to run and don't have any immediate links for instant relax I can put up here right now.  Try just listening to mellow Mooji or Tara Brach or Brene Brown on youtube.  Maybe that will help get your day off to a more contented start.  Are you still doing Yoga too?

Best Rabe,

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

I also think, that yes, for sure when allergies kick in that absolutely, without a doubt that is going to skyrocket any fears/anxiety/inability to think straight as well.  And here is what we've got on antihistamines, on site:  Allergies, sneezing.......  and then this one too:  Antihistamines for WD insomnia

Also don't forget to plug in, if you are deciding on whether or not to use an antihistamine, to drugs.com/interactions  all of your present medications, as well as the one you are thinking of trying.

@wantrelief Oh thank you my friend!  That means so much!  Since that GI procedure things really went off rails again..and then mayne the Carafate reaction didnt help either.  Who knows?  I just looked back in my journal and I was eating much more and a nice variety before all that...and not reacting so much to the meds.

Frustrating but am hoping the allergist will be of help.  Also supposed to have a stress EKG but honestly dont think I can do it.  I DID get my oil changed today so that was nice, and the birds at my feeder were lovely, and a short walk in the sun was lovely as well.

You are doing SO well on  your taper WR....one thing this has done is make me very ready to start a Brass Monkey slide of some sorts...ready to get on with things if can get some stability again.  Love and hugs to you WR.  Take care of you!!💜

Still thinking of you.  I so wish I had a way of fixing these problems for you.  I'm really glad you were able to see your daughter and take care of your car.  I hope you can get some rest.

It makes no sense to put dyes in medicines these days.  There are too many allergies.  I suppose they hope to distinguish one pill at one dose from smother at another dose.  However, the dependencies they create and the newly emerging allergies these days make that feature a real problem.

I dont like the idea of tapering the benzo first, and the rate is much too fast.  Maybe your doctor will understand that you feel the dye in the Viibryd is a good reason to stay with the AD taper.

Hi Rabe,

This above all sounds good then.  You have/are prepared for the allergist appointment really well.

Good on the water.  And so hoping you aren't experiencing any symptoms of the low potassium.  I was surprised to see milk on the list of things to eat or drink with potassium.....yet it is there.  Hopefully the allergist will help with you getting a better perspective on how to address the food issues too!

And so far you are going well with the cross over to the new generic clonazepam.  Slow and steady.

Is there stuff or communities that you could join where you are now?  For example an AA group and/or maybe some other community that meets up every once in awhile where you enjoy the people.  I mean I know that can be hard, to strike on out on your own to make new friends/potential supportive people friends, when you have been so sick with WD and other stuff too........but maybe?  Oh......if only........during the tough phases you could get a break from all the car repairs and home or apartment care and people who want your attention and stuff.  It's likely much more stressful, just the day to day, since you completed inpatient treatment.  Maybe there is some kind of meditation group or church even that you could find that you liked.

Next time the psychiatrist asks, you could say you would rather stay put with the clonazepam until you have made further taper efforts with the Viibryd.

For now though......like you said, and of course I agree.........a day at a time.  Let's see what you learn at the allergists appointment and what that doctor has to offer.

On 5/11/2019 at 3:37 PM, Rabe said:

yes...the 10mg is red...

I don't know Rabe if switching to the 20 mg Viibryd with blue dye coating is the better option or not.  Especially since recently you wondered if the blue dye in the Sandoz brand of clonazepam was suspect in reactions.  I'm sure the compounders could work with the 20 mg Viibryd to get your dose of 8.75 mg pretty close, but it might just be another change that is better to avoid.   Let's see if the allergist doctor has any input on your difficulties with dyes.  Or just what he thinks might be best.  For both food and dye issues.

Okay.  That may be due to the clonazepam too.  Once you get all crossed over, it might be a good idea to address that with Shep.  If it's still a daily issue, like it has been.    You have an unusual split to your clonazepam dosages AND timing both.

It's possible that Shep might have some ideas for you to work on a better split.  With both the milligrams taken and timing.

Meantime.......full speed ahead to the allergist Rabe.  Yay.......you are as prepared with information as one can be.  Let us know how it goes okay?

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

And oh.  You are doing really well lately, with clarity, as far as reporting back on questions too!  Much improvement there, in case you haven't noticed it yourself.  I mean in between some of the real difficult times YOU ARE MAKING PROGRESS Rabe!  :DB)  Emoji moment and (((((Rabe)))))

The allergy tests were all negative which I knew would be...if had actual allergy would have different symptoms.  This is intolerance from instability and a heightened system I know...just dont know how to settle it and the histamine. She suggested a nutrtionist,...may pay for that if my doctor thinks would help.  She is also the 4th doctor who said I need to address my anxiety and why am I doing what I am doing.

Okay.  That may be due to the clonazepam too.

Dr doesnt know if is Cl or V...or both.  Are any helping or not?  Think thats why switch to CL taper...I dont know.  He is unclear and suggested taper both at one point.  Who does know...its all kind of ?  This morning terrible headache so going to do a meditation.

You are doing really well lately, with clarity, as far as reporting back on questions too!

Thank you MMT for your help.  Take care.

She is also the 4th doctor who said I need to address my anxiety and why am I doing what I am doing

This was the allergist doctor who asked this question?

Well.....you were seeing her to see if she could help you with allergic reactions, that you have been having is my take.........especially the eye and lip swelling.

Did she write that off as just due to "anxiety"?

Shame, shame I say, if that was the case, on her.  And then just sending you on to another doctor.

That's often, unfortunately, how it's done these days.......no one that takes on the whole of the person seeking assistance.  We, many of us, me included, are often then left to be our own best advocate, historian, etc. when it comes to getting "medical" care of any kind.

Okay......well, hoping you get reassurance from the kidney doctor.  That renal function is all good.  And possibly that potassium is stable able.  That would be nice.

Oh yes, oh my........meditation.  Hoping you find some clarity in it all through the simple practice of meditation.  You might be able to pull together a good package for yourself too, on coping with "anxiety" and all the fears that frequently come up.  I'd say start here with:  The Dr. Claire Weekes Method of recovering from a sensitized nervous system

And then also look for some of ChessieCats posts to others where she put's together a whole package of coping skills for fears.

Hang in there Rabe and I'm so sorry the allergist visit did not go better.

Good on keeping going with the crossover too.  I'm so glad your daughter is coming to visit you too Rabe!  That's great really.  Just enjoy the company.  Hopefully she's pretty excited now about her pregnancy.  Just guessing, but I think she just needs your Love and presence right now.......nothing more.  As you need hers.

Best, best, best,

and L, P, H, and G,

mmt

Just going to add a link to:  About- Everything Matters:Beyond Meds

Across the top is a menu of sorts to all kinds of topics and collections of information.  You might find something there, in addition to what you might be finding here too.  I got so much from the above site in my early days of searching for my own answers, still do.  🙂
