Love this thread. We all know it's hellish, but with the right attitude, it's so much easier. Pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice.

1995 aged 18 Started 20mg Seroxat and 50mg Half Inderal Beta Blocker for anxiety / 1996 stopped beta blockers / 1997 stopped Seroxat

1999 Started Seroxat 20mg again / 2000-2016 mainly stayed on Seroxat with some drops to 15 and 10mg / Sep-Nov 2016 tapered from 20mg to 10mg / Nov 16 Major crash and massive hike from 10mg to 40mg / Dec 16 - Jun 17 struggled with insomnia and bouts of depression (not had serious depression previously) / Jun 17 Increased to 45mg Seroxat with little improvement / Mid Oct 17 lowered to 40mg, Nov 1st 17 lowered to 35mg / Mid Nov 17 back up to 40mg / Jan 2018 down to 37.5mg / 8th Feb 2018 down to 35mg / 20th Mar 2018 down to 32.5mg / April gave up cigarettes (tough) / 14th May 2018 down to 30mg / 27th June 2018 down to 27.5mg / 24th July down to 25mg / 20th August Crashed

Dropping 2.5mg every 4-6 weeks provided have been level for at least 2 weeks of that. After 4-6 days from drop I feel moderate increase in depression and anxiety with mood swings of up and down, sometimes excited to point of mania. Subsides over 7-21 days to base level.

DO CBT, ONLY WAY OF ACCEPTING SYMPTOMS WITHOUT GOING NUTS AND LETTING IT SPIRAL. I can even handle consequences of having a few drinks.

Awe, thanks! @WackoSirJacko I chickened out this morning!  I have an important business meeting on Thursday and got scared to commence my taper.  Perhaps tomorrow!  I guess there is never a good time to start?  You say you can even handle consequences of having a few drinks?  I have company coming in June...

Hi Doxxigirl,

One of the mods will probably weigh in when they have a free moment, and their opinion will override all.  However if you have an important business meeting on Thursday why not start your taper on Friday?

I had scheduled myself to start my taper this last Monday but because I have something important on Wednesday I decided to postpone my taper day until Thursday. Why not, right?

Whatever day you decide start I wish you smooth sailing. Please keep us posted.

Hey Rachel!  I think I will start my taper on Friday!  I don't think there is ever a good time to start.  Summer is coming and I have a lot of people coming into town so I'm worried about that as well.  Hope you are good. Love Doxx:wub:

Holding is almost always a good option, but as you point out "there's never a good time to start".  If you're a bit nervous about your reaction and the meeting on Thursday is important, then I'd wait until Friday to start. But don't use the delay as a time to worry about starting.  Friday, just do it as if you've been doing it for months.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Thank you Brassmonkey, may I call you Tom?  Your thread is the one I go to for courage plus tips & tricks!  I am still undecided as to how I am going to do my actual taper (liquid/pill), liquid/DIY, or scale (for when I get down to the nitty gritty).  I suppose there is time to figure this whole thing out.  I so admire you.

I AM NOT A MODERATOR, but yes in my opinion give yourself a couple of months at 200mgs and let you system settle. It seems like you have always been able to achieve stability on 200mgs of Zoloft, let yourself get stable again and remain functional. Then once stable, you can resume a slow taper.

Thank you @DaveB I think it will be best if I continue to hold at 200mg  for a few more months, until I start to taper down.  I am feeling better although still waking up with anxiety. Also I am still sweating profusely.  I appreciate your input.

Oh, thank you for responding to me.  I'm so sorry to have posted all of that stuff.  I realize now that it was detrimental to everyone on SA that is suffering through withdrawal.  I am not a mean person, in fact I'm a very sweet loving person. I guess I was digging to deep for answers and an end result. I got scared and didn't keep my wits about me. I am doing much better, I have finally stabilized on 200mg and ready to go back to work (if I can find a job-after the switch to wellbutrin several  years ago)  That Wellbutrin really messed me up, but I thought it was just my reaction to moving here and being away from home, the only place I've ever known.  I didn't even know that after 7 months of being off Zoloft that I was in WD!  I hope I can pull off getting a job and restarting my career.  You are so brave and a person to follow for non-drug coping techniques.  Once again, I apologize from the bottom of my heart, I was stupid to not consider others feelings.  I am sleeping well and the ringing in my left ear has stopped (as of today)!  I am still sweating profusely  which worries me. I'm not quite ready to start tapering as I think I need a few more months. When I quit the Wellbutrin CT and went back to zoloft at the end of 2015, it took 6 months to stabilize as I recall.  So I have a few more months to go before I rock the boat again!  I don't want to bother Altostrata, I do have a deep respect for her and I feel bad for taking advantage of her forum to spew my inconsiderate comments.  I hope you have a nice day.

So she has been kicked off, should she not get a 2nd chance?

It is against site rules to have more than 1 membership.  This member had at least 3.

Please note that you are not aware of everything that has occurred because she was being moderated in her samanthaelizabeth topic and not all of her posts were made public.  She was given many chances to obey the rules.

Whilst a member she was given all the information she needs to taper her drugs.  She still has access to this information in her topic as a guest.
