Down to 0.1 mg today! 50% drop. Doing fine.

Decided this is the LAST TAPER!! Ten more days and I'll be done before the end of the month. I had thought of going to 0.05 mg before stepping off but this is such a small amount not worth cutting in half. They do sell a 0.5ml syringe on Amazon if folk wanted one. I'm still using the 1 ml syringe. My clonazepam I was tapering 3% of original dose for the last many months with final step off 1.5%. This I've been doing smaller 1% of original dose for the last month.

Very excited to almost be done.

Hello,

wow, congrats ! This is great news !

I'm concerned 0,1mg could be too high a dose to jump.

Before jumping to zero, I advise you to read this great article written by @brassmonkey

Take care ❤️

Thanks, Erell!

I read the topic you mentioned. I think I'm fine to step off at 0.1 mg. I've had zero symptoms my 7+ months hyberbolic guided taper. I could dilute my current 2 drops of liquid per day but don't think that's necessary. I previously had practice with my clonazepam taper and this is a lower percentage of original dose the last several drops and step off than that was.

The Lancet papers by Horowitz/Taylor and Ruhe & co suggested hyperbolic discontinuation schedule below.

I've been conservative and had more steps with smaller drops in dose. 22 drops for me instead of 8 drops.

hyperbolic discontinuation schedule, example, lexapro/escitalopram

step     dose (mg)

1          10

2          5

3          3

4          2

5          1.5

6          1

7          0.5

8          0.25

9          0

I'm done! Took 0.05 mg (1 drop of 5mg/5ml solution) the last 4 days after 0.1 mg (2 drops) for 8 days.

I had a little excitement. Last Thursday I was up vomiting 6 times with severe abdominal pain for 17 hours. Called doctor and they called back during #6 and said I should head to ER in case of gallbladder. But I had started feeling better so didn't. This Thursday I woke up at 5 am with pain. In the ER just after 10 am. IV morphine for pain and lots of tests during the day. Possibility of surgery that night but they waited until the next morning. Surgery took twice as long as expected due to necrotic tissue breakdown and bile leakage from gallbladder and a lot of inflammation. But thankfully got out laparoscopically. Had to have drain in and another day on heparin blood thinner and preventative IV antibiotics but got home last night. Last two doses of oxycodone have been 1 tablet instead of two with the Tylenol. Feeling a lot better and happy to be alive again.

Congratulations on being drug free. That's a big accomplishment.

Your gallbladder experience sounds very similar to mine. Please be very gentle on yourself for the next couple of months.  Your body has had a very bad shock and needs time to settle and heal.  They may say that you will be back to normal in 6 weeks. but in reality you will probably be back to "functional" in that time. You will also be dealing with the double whammy of jumping off the drugs too. Things could seem pretty rocky for a while, but it will settle out and return to normal.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

Thanks, brassmonkey. I enjoyed erasing my 9am escitalopram alarm from my phone!

I'm doing pretty well. It's been 6 days since my last 0.05 mg dose so the escitalopram is out of my body!

I stopped taking oxycodone 63 hours after surgery ended. Just Tylenol since. I haven't been getting all my sleep but I've been having to sleep on my back instead of my side which is a hard transition for me and the discomfort from surgery was higher until Thursday. The drain hole is closing up and the other incision sites are no longer red or tender. Have my surgery followup Tuesday morning. Hope to be able to sleep on my side soon. Been increasing my walking and yesterday was able to complete the longer hilly daily walk my husband and I have been doing since working from home. Happily only mid 80s felt like upper 80s yesterday instead of 90s. Back to 90 again today.

Thanks for asking! 18 weeks off and doing fantastic. No issues at all. I've started a 'healthier me for the holidays' program and have added in leg/arm/abs exercises in addition to the daily walk. Last month's trip to the beach and wearing a bathing suit was a good nudge for that.

24 weeks off. No issues. Sleeping fine. We take it slow with the time change and are still 5 minutes ahead... will move the final 5 minutes Saturday morning after breakfast. Additional exercising with weights in addition to walking has continued and seeing results. My sis and I now exercise together often with FaceTime which makes it more fun.

Happy Fall!

42 weeks and 2 days off! Happy Spring! All fine. Only some gassiness (flatulence and burping) early on during my 7.5 month hyperbolic taper from 10mg escitalopram (generic lexapro) after taking that dose for 21 months. No withdrawal symptoms since I've been off. Have some issues now and then from the gallbladder removal (42 weeks and 4 days) after eating too much fat during a meal but that's 'user error'. Continuing regular exercise. Sleeping well. Still grateful daily that I can work full time safely from home until I can get vaccinated.

My thoughts often are with those who are struggling with their tapers.

Happy July 4th to those celebrating!

57 weeks off. Meant to post on my anniversary but forgot. Nothing to report. No issues whatsoever. I still keep those tapering in my thoughts.

I've started to try tapering my famotidine down from 20 mg. I've been at 10 mg for a week and going well. I don't have classic heartburn sumptoms. I've got LPR - mostly hoarseness and coughing, but sometimes sore throat and full ears. The famotidine takes away the hoarseness, ear, and throat symptoms. Chocolate is a big trigger and my husband can always tell when I've indulged due to the coughing.
