I quit Lexapro and 3 weeks later i simply stopped sleeping. It has been 4 months now and I have insomnia every day unless i take benzos. I have tried trazodone, zolpidem, CBTI and lithium. nothing works and i am getting more and more suicidal. i litterally have to stay on benzos otherwise i will be consumed by obcessive thoughts of death.

I cannot go on like this any longer. Has anyone ever had this experience? will it ever stop?

Welcome, NazareM.

Sleeplessness is a very common withdrawal symptom. How did you go off Lexapro?

What we see is that withdrawal syndrome makes people hypersensitive to drugs, supplements, and even foods sometimes. No doubt you were taking "normal" dosages of all those drugs you tried. Your hypersensitive nervous system rejected them.

Often reinstating a very small amount of the original drug can help. See About reinstating and stabilizing to reduce withdrawal symptoms You would stabilize on this small amount and taper off by tiny amounts later.

You may wish to try 0.5mg Lexapro or 0.5mg of its milder sibling Celexa or citalopram. Both come in liquid form so you can take a small dose. Do you have any Lexapro left?

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

Alto, did you see this same symptom subside? Its not only commom insomnia, its more like the brain cant synchronize with the rest of the body, plus the rest of weird symptoms that appear while trying to sleep.

After nearly a year off Lexapro and Im in the same boat.

Paroxetine 40mg from 2005 to 2013,
between 2007 - 2009 I stopped cold turkey, no problems, less than a week with brain zaps and thats it
2009 started taking Paroxetine again
2013 easy transition to Lexapro 15mg + Wellbutrin XL 300
2015 dropped Wellbutrin without problems
04/2017 transition to Pristiq taking 7,5mg of Lexapro + 25mg of Pristiq, than dropped Lexapro
bad things starting,
05/2017 stopped Pristiq, being in hell!

05/14/2017 -> Most of the symptoms ceased, constant arousal like sensation and erectyle disfunction appeared. Anxietys on the roof, dread thoughts. Using a little bit of bromazepam.
Reinstated LexaPro + Wellbutrin
08/2017 -> tappered fast both
05/2018 -> SEVERE worsening, keep getting worse
