Hi guys,

Thanks for dropping by. I’m not too bad thanks, just the usual windows and waves. I’ve been living it for many, many years, it’s just part of life now. I’ve been spending lots of time in bed due to my illness, but I’m in good spirits.

Started watching Bleak House by Charles Dickens yesterday.  I’m collecting millions of period dramas. I just ordered Howard’s End. My next series after I finish Bleak House will be Little Dorrit, also by Charles Dickens. I’ve seen them before, but I’ve only seen Bleak House once so I don’t remember it very well. I haven’t watched the latest Les Miserables either, I must order it one day too.

I hope you’re both finding distractions to help you through the day.

Take care, sending hugs💚

Hello Carmie

Let's hope this wave passes soon for you.

Good that you have got so many DVDs you want to watch - that's a lovely way to engage yourself.  I have a number of those DVDs you mention myself but my DVD player isn't working properly due to the laser light (I think) I had it "repaired" a couple of years ago - they supposedly put in a new laser (cost over $200 - it's a Denon DVD/CD/Radio unit) but it packed up again some months later and I just haven't been well enough to get it sorted since.  I do have a cheap player that I can plug in but the more expensive one has speakers that go through the TV and give it a surround-sound effect, much better than the tinny thin sound on the TV.  Your'e making me think about how I could get it mended, though, I'd like to see the DVDs again - Larkrise to Candleford was one of my favourites.

And although they definitely look 80s now, I adore Alan Bennett's Talking Heads; A Cream Cracker Under The Settee makes me cry;  A Chip In The Sugar makes me laugh and reflective.

Anyway, hope your day has gone ok - at least you say your spirits are good and that you have adjusted over the years to this being the way of life.

Thank you for your support to people on this site.

Neroli xx💜

Hi @RusTW @neroli @DMV64

Hope you’ve managed to get through your day okay. It’s around 7.30pm here now. In another hour it’s bye bye to screens. It’s been good not looking at screens after 8.30. I’m sleeping better. I’m in a wave this evening, so I’m just trying to distract myself with different things. I’ve been playing word games today, I’m half way through watching Bleak House, I’ve done a little bit of journaling, finished a diamond picture of a girl with a long flowy dress in the woods and I did a bit of housework.

I’ll probably do some reading of an actual book made of paper 📖😁 after 8.30pm. I was reading Middlemarch on my iPad, but I don’t really like reading books on a screen, so I’m going to buy the book in a paper version and finish reading it. I started reading a John Grisham novel instead, it’s on paper, actually I’ve got quite a few John Grisham novels. I love his novels!

DMV64, I’m watching DVDs I own, but you can borrow them from the library too. At the moment I’m mainly watching period dramas. Anything Charles Dickens is pretty good, and Bleak House And Little Dorrit are both series so they are good distractions that take a while to get through. Poldark, Larkrise To Candleford, Cranford and Return To Cranford, North And South, Wives And Daughters, The Paradise etc etc etc are all series too. I’ve done many a marathon when in waves.

I hope you have your good DVD player fixed soon Neroli so you can enjoy your shows too.

Sending hugs🤗

Just documenting: It’s day 20 since tapering from 7.5mg to 7.25mg. I’m going through windows and waves, just the usual. The first four days after the taper were windows. I was in a bad wave last night, woke up in a window today, but not long after that the waves came again, been surfing since then.🌊🏄🏻‍♀️😁

Been distracting myself all morning, finished a diamond painting of cute little birds around a bird house, with lots of greenery. In a second it’s time for my DVD marathon, back to Bleak House by Charles Dickens.

I bought a whole heap of cards too a while ago and I might write in them, add the bookmarks I’ve been making, some smiley face balloons and maybe some tea bags. I’ve got these cute little sachet things with animal faces 🐯 on them that I can put the tea bags in.

Anyway, here’s to continuing to ride the waves💚

Hi @RusTW @Rabe

I hope you’re both coping okay. I haven’t been interacting on the site for a few days as I’ve had some stressful things happening in my life that I’ve had to deal with, and needed some time away from focusing on withdrawals.

I’m still in the windows and waves zone, still surfing 🏄🏻‍♀️. Been busy distracting myself with projects. I’m going off line now as I don’t look at screens after a certain time in the evening. I’m sleeping well again which is good. Yay!🛌

Good night from Australia 💚

Just documenting: Today is day 25 of my taper from 7.50mg to 7.25mg. I’m still going  through lots of waves. It looks like I’ll be holding this taper for more than a month. I’ve got a wedding to go to a couple of hours away from here on the 14th of next month, so hopefully I’ll be a bit better by then.

I’ve been keeping myself occupied with lots of distractions. Yesterday I spent most of the day colouring in , like a big kid🖍👧🏻 😁

I wasn’t in a DVD mood, so I just listened to things on my iPad. In the evening I read some more of my John Grisham novel.

Not sure how I’m going to spend the as yet. I’ve got Wives And Daughters in my DVD player at the moment, and I got a few more new period dramas too, Dr Thorne and Howards End. I’m deciding between doing crafts, watching DVDs or reading some more of my novel.  Decisions! Decisions!📖🎞✂️🖍

Sending hugs to all💚

Hello Carmie

Thanks for visiting my thread - really nice to hear from you.  I've been away from the main forum for a couple of days, when I'm working I try to keep focused and then when I finish I'm sometimes too computer-out to get on SA.

Anyway, sorry to hear you are having the waves and pleased to hear that you are coping with your magnificent distraction skills.  Still, it's not nice to go through waves and I'm sure you get some moments of frustration or down-ness.

I do hope things stabilise soon and that the hold will enable you to get to the wedding.

warm wishes over the ditch (actually the temperature is going down here)

PS Rabe has changed colour too.  I wonder if it happens when you pass a certain number of posts??????

Hi @DogLover @Gracee @neroli

Thanks for dropping by. Hope that you are all getting through the day as best you can. I’m going through lots of waves lately. Actually, a wave woke me up at about 3am and I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I just lay there and chilled until 6am. I still want to keep getting up and going to bed around the same time to help with my sleeping. I actually fell asleep pretty quickly last night. Got to keep that body clock in order.

Yes, distractions are the best way to go when in the middle of waves.🌊  I might watch some of my DVD series, I should finish that today. I’ll probably also do some crafts. YouTube has lots of interesting things to watch too. Maybe I’ll play some word games. So many options.

Take care, and keep surfing those waves 🌊. One of these days there will be an end to the waves, and we can all do a happy dance.💃💃💃💚

Hi Miracle,

Nice to hear from you. I’m glad to say I’m stabilising, yay!  Today is day 30 since the last taper. Brain fog is bad though, nothing new, I’ve had that for 25 years. I’ve got a wedding to go to in New South Wales on Sunday, so I won’t be doing my next taper during this week, even if I continue to be stable. My next taper will be from 7.25mg to 7mg. I’m so glad I’m moving forward again.

Usually when I do a new taper it doesn’t start to hit me until day four of five, so I’m not sure when I’ll start it. The wedding is on Sunday. There’s no rhythm or reason to withdrawals though and you never know when the waves are going to hit, so maybe it’s safer to start the next taper on Sunday night.

I’m very happy you’re doing so well now, it’s an encouragement for all the rest of us who have many more years of tapering to go.

Sending hugs🤗

Thanks for popping by. I just read this quote that I love: “ The key is: Meet today’s problems with today’s strength. Don’t start tackling tomorrow’s problems until tomorrow. You do not have tomorrow’s strength yet. You simply have enough for today.” Here’s to taking one day at a time.

I’m still getting some waves, but I’m stabilising. Yay!

So today is day 35 since my taper from 7.50mg to 7.25mg. I’ve gone through lots of waves throughout this taper. It doesn’t matter how low I taper, I still go through waves of some intensity. My brain is so sensitised from all the meds I’ve been on and off.  If I taper lower though, I don’t end up getting the continual akathisia though, where I feel like I’m being electrocuted. I tapered by under 4% this time.

I’m still deciding when to go from 7.25mg to 7mg. I’ve got a wedding to go to at Byron Bay on Sunday, so I won’t be tapering again until after then some time. I loooove Byron Bay!😍

I bought a plain hat for the wedding and decorated it yesterday. I love hats🧢👒🎩. I’ve got lots of different hats and caps, I love the bakers caps. They are so cool!😎

I’m catching up with friends this afternoon, so that will be nice too. I caught up with another friend this week that I hadn’t seen for a while, and we had a lovely chat. She wants to have a little girl’s holiday some time this year. Last year we went to the beach🌊🌊. The time before that, the same. We both love the beach. It really is my happy place.

I feel so much for all you strugglers out there, we can win this fight fellow warriors💚

Dropping in to say hello and hoping that the wave has lessened even further.  So good to hear that you don't get the akathisia on lower reductions.

Hope the trip out with your friends went well and the wedding will be enjoyable for you.   Then you can decide on your next reduction.

Thank you for your support and encouragement - it means a lot.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for dropping by, I’ll try and catch up with you all soon. I haven’t been on SA for a while as I’ve had so much on my plate. I’m dealing with a lot of stuff unrelated to withdrawals. Hope to interact on here again soon.

The wedding at Byron Bay was absolutely beautiful. My niece looked spectacular, and the setting was amazing. It was outdoors and they signed the papers under this beautiful big tree. I’m a nature girl and it was lovely chilling out around a pool on comfy lounges. The dinner was indoors. Because I can’t eat gluten my niece made the whole dinner for everyone gluten free. Awwww! It was soooo delicious. I did some dancing too, including the nutbush. I don’t have much strength so I had to sit down all the time, but I had fun. Such a great day!

I tapered again two days ago, I’ve gone from 7.25mg to 7mg. I stayed on 7.25mg for 38 days. I always listen to my body.

Take care everyone 💚

Glad to hear that you made it to the wedding and enjoyed it.  I've been to Byron Bay, yes it is lovely.

Also - good on you for taking the next cut - may it be as smooth as possible.

Hope the other matters are sorted soon and you are regaining your strength.

Best wishes to you on the most western island of NZ (haha)

Hi Neroli,

Thanks for dropping by. Yes, Byron Bay certainly is beautiful. It was so green.🌳🌳🌳

I tapered to 7mg on Wednesday night so today is day four. So far I’m doing fine, withdrawals usually start hitting on day 5 or after. I’ve never managed to escape them no matter how low I go. My brain is so sensitised that every small drop affects me. I always remind myself that the windows and waves pattern is my brain healing and finding equilibrium.

I’ve got all my distractions in place when they do hit. Got my crafts ready, and bought a million more DVDs.  I’m set to go! 😁

I’m going to a Whitney Houston show on Wednesday night at the Performing Arts Theatre. I’ve seen the show before, down the Gold Coast. Belinda Davids is from South Africa, and she’s come back to entertain us again. Yay! She’s  really good! You can’t stay still in your chair, you have to get up and dance.💃💃

Sending hugs to you🤗

I just want to share this with everyone. I’ve been on SA for quite a lot of the day today and it just breaks my heart to see everyone suffering so much. I’m actually feeling really teary right now thinking about all the suffering. Just thinking about how the doctors and pharmaceutical companies can hand out these medications like lollies. Such a corrupt and money making system, and the pain people go through because of it really is mind boggling. That being said, I don’t feel anger towards anyone. I’m not an angry person whatsoever, I just feel sad.😞

I’m not getting any waves at the moment, though I’m extremely ill with CFS. I tapered Wednesday night, and it’s Sunday night now. They usually don’t hit until about day five, or a little after. I have many, many more years of tapering to go. I’m grateful that I’m positive by nature, but sometimes everything just gets too much. I’ve been dealing with a lot lately, totally unrelated to withdrawals.

I just want everyone to know that my heart goes out to you all, sending you all a million hugs🤗🤗🤗

P.s. thanks @neroli for your message. Yes, I’m looking forward to this Wednesday night. I do love music. The anhedonia has been pretty bad lately though.
