Oh my, Carmie, you have had such a busy social time. Ā I'm pleased you were able to enjoy your trips out - amazes me everytime that you have such an ability to enjoy things. Ā I think anhedonia has stolen that from me.

Ā

You are doing so well, despite the brain fog and it's great that you come on here to post your gratitude lists.

Ā

love and best wishes

Hi @direstraitsĀ @neroli

Ā

How are you guys doing today? Iā€™m glad you enjoyed your yummy chickpea salad Direstraits.Ā

Ā

Neroli, the anhedonia has lifted a bit recently, but I make myself do things that I would normally enjoy even if I canā€™t enjoy them. Iā€™m all for distracting myself.Ā

Ā

Okay, here goes my gratitude list for today:

Ā

1. My feet are freezing so Iā€™m going to put on a nice pair of warm socks.Ā šŸ§¦šŸ˜‚

Ā

2. Iā€™m switching on my heater now. Looove the glow of the heater.šŸ”„šŸ”„

Ā

3. Been stuck in bed today but had fun playing word games and watching YouTube videos.Ā

Ā

4. Went for dinner the other night at a Thai restaurant. šŸ²The food was so cheap and the portions were massive, and it was so delicious. Itā€™s a shame the restaurant isnā€™t close by, because it would be cheaper to buy the meal at that restaurant than to buy all the ingredients and make it yourself. There was also a really cool Asian supermarket there. I was too braindead to look around, but if we ever go to that end of town again Iā€™ll be doing some shopping there.Ā

Ā

5. We had such a laugh at the restaurant. I went there with three friends. Two are from Poland and theyā€™re always asking me to correct their grammar. I feel like a teacher.šŸ“šāœļøšŸ˜„ Ā As there was so much food I told one of my friends that they could ask for a doggy bag ( or is it doggie?šŸ˜) .Ā They had never heard the expression before. When he went to ask for it he asked for a doggy dog!šŸ¶šŸ¶šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ We were all in stitches.Ā

Ā

6. I actually got some ironing done this week. Yay! I very rarely iron, most of my clothes donā€™t need ironing. I feel like I have a new wardrobe now, usually those things that need ironing hardly get worn. šŸ‘—šŸ˜

Ā

7. Managed to do a bit of organising. Another yay!

Ā

8. Finished another two diamond paintings, one of daffodils and one of a lady playing the violin on a keyboard next to the beach (very arty one). šŸŽ»šŸŽ¹šŸŒŠ

Ā

9. Been looking at lovely nature and animal pictures.šŸŒ³šŸŒ¼šŸŒæšŸŒ»šŸ¦œšŸ…šŸŠšŸ¦‰šŸ¦Ž

Ā

10. My friends checking in on me to see how Iā€™m doing. Awww!!

Ā

Well, today is day 22 since dropping from 7mg to 6.75mg. Iā€™ve been going through lots of waves this last week, including today, but my distractions keep me going.Ā

Ā

Take care šŸ’ššŸ’š

Ā

I need to try that.Ā

sometimes I think I amĀ too thin to float, I am no longer buoyant!Ā Ā Ā Ā ā˜¹ļø

Currently taking Ramapril (blood pressure) 5 mg twice a day

Omeprazole 10 mg AM and 20 mg PMĀ  (the taper has gone nowhere after the first cut)

FamotidineĀ  Ā once a day (and I still needs tums sometimes)

magnesium 200 mg at night

as of yesterday 2 fish oil capsules "EPA-DHA 1000"

Ā

off Lexapro as of 5/2018Ā  - last dose had been 5 mg every other day for a couple years

Ā

highest dose had been 20 mg at which point I was diagnosed with Bipolar II, which went away when I cut the lexapro down to 15 mg.Ā

Ā

I spent years on Paxil before Lexapro (can't remember dose), briefly on Effexor and Abilify and others I have forgotten. in fact, when I was diagnoses with BPII I was put on all kinds of things which made me feel so bad I stopped them cold turkey within maybe 3 or 4 weeks, thank goodness. since then I've known these pills were terrible and I weaned down the Lexapro with zero help or support over I'm not sure how many years.Ā

Hi guys,Ā

Ā

Thanks for dropping by. Still going through waves, but Iā€™m continuing to float.ā˜ļøā˜ļøā˜ļøā˜ļø I have such a restless energy from the waves soĀ I canā€™t focus on one thing forĀ too long, but I continue to distract myself. At the moment Iā€™m going from watching YouTube videos to watching Far From The Madding Crowd on DVD. Iā€™m struggling to focus too long on anything. I should finish the DVD by the end of the day.šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Iā€™ve watched it before.Ā

Ā

I canā€™t do too many crafts at the moment as my RSI has flared up a little bit, though I might be able to do a little bit of a diamond painting later on if I feel like it. Iā€™ve got five there to do, I like to always have a few in stock.

Ā

CFS is bad today and Iā€™m stuck in bed.Ā

Ā

Going to do my gratitude list now, but I think Iā€™ll do five things Iā€™m grateful for instead of ten, otherwise my whole thread will be just full of things Iā€™m grateful foršŸ˜‚. Anyway, here goes:

Ā

1. I have a comfy bed, I love my fluffy cushion too.šŸ›

2. I had a delicious lunch.šŸ„—šŸ˜‹

3. My friends keep contacting me.šŸ’š

4. My bedroom is very cheery with all the artwork and happy things on the wall, including balloons.šŸŽˆšŸŽˆšŸŽˆ

5. Iā€™m always really grateful that whenever Iā€™m in a wave, or waves that seem to go on forever,Ā they always eventually end and I stabilise again.šŸŒŠšŸš«

Ā

Okay, I think itā€™s back to the DVD now. I love my period dramas.Ā

Hello Carmie

Ā

It's good to hear that whenever you have waves, they eventually end and you stabilise - I can only wish that this happens sooner rather than later for you.

Ā

I think you are amazing for being able to visit your thread and post what's happening for you as well as your gratitude list. Ā It must take quite a bit of energy do that with the wave and CFS to contend with.

Ā

Sorry to hear that you aren't able to do your crafts so much at the moment, I hope you will be able to do your diamond paintings. Ā It sounds like you have a good stock of distractions and I do hope they help you with the restlessness.

Ā

Thinking of you as you go through this period of extra discomfort (too mild a word?) - one moment at a time, tough to do at times, even for a seasoned professional like you, so I wish you the best for your return to WD normal.

Ā

You really seem to have the self-care thing going on in spades Carmie, a great example!

Ā

I struggle with fatigue from the olanzapine.Ā  At first it was just excessive sleep, but after this many years and in the withdrawals it's become a considerable side effect along with demotivation (ironic in a drug they give you so you can 'get back to work').

Ā

I was wondering if you were experiencing CFS before you were given these drugs, or whether it's more that the drugs induced it?Ā

Ā

I'd like to think we'll get restored energy levels back at some stage!

Ā

Hope your weekend is relaxing and pleasant

Ā

Cheers

PS yes Claire Weekes' voice is beaut, you don't hear that old school accent much these days.Ā  Makes me think of being quite young and out in the country :-)

I'm sorry that along with withdrawal, you have to deal with CFS and RSI. Thinking of you.

Hi there @neroliĀ Ā @haydukeĀ Ā  @Bee5

Ā

How are you all doing today? Hope youā€™ve got lots of distractions to get you all through another day. It looks like itā€™s another day in bed for me, though I have a tiny bit more strength today, so Iā€™ll be getting up every now and again to do some housework. Iā€™ve been watching videos this morning already, and have cleaned the kitchen. šŸ“ŗšŸ§½ I just have to still mop the floor when I get my next tiny spurt of energy.šŸ§¹šŸ’¦Ā

Ā

Yes, Neroli, itā€™s great knowing that when going through waves I always end up stabilising again. There is always light at the end of each dark tunnel.āœØāœØāœØāœØāœØ I didnā€™t end up doing a diamond painting yesterday, I played word games instead. Love word games, before I know it hours have flown by which is fabulous when going through waves.šŸŒŠšŸŒŠ

Ā

My RSI plays up when I use my wrists too much, and I was doing diamond paintingsšŸ–¼ non stop for days to help me get through the waves, thusĀ the flare up.Ā As long as I donā€™t do things non stop my wrists seem to be okay, itā€™s only when I overdo it.Ā

Ā

Hayduke, self care is definitely a must. Itā€™s the only way to help us to keep coping. Iā€™ve had chronic fatigue syndrome for nearly 25 years, the meds didnā€™t cause it. I wasnā€™t on any meds back then. There have been people though that ended up getting CFS because of these meds, like Catherine from intothewoods if you want to check out her thread.Ā

Ā

CFS is a CNS illness, so because these meds muck up our CNS they can cause CFS. I donā€™t have a hope of even recovering from this illness until Iā€™m off the meds, but Iā€™ve got at least ten years of tapering to go because I can only taper by small amounts. I only learnt in the last few years that CFS is a central nervous system illness, due to research by different ones, so dampening down the nervous system is how one recovers from it. Iā€™ve read lots of recovery stories too.Ā

Ā

Youā€™re right there about Claire Weekesā€™ old school accent. I love it! So soothing!

Ā

Bee, thanks for your kind words. Iā€™m doing okay, just taking an hour at a time.

Ā

Okay, my gratitude list for today:

1. I have a little bit of strength so I can do some housework. Yay!šŸ§½šŸ§¹šŸ§ŗ

2. Iā€™m cozy in my bedroom with the heater on, and IĀ enjoyed watching short videos this morning.Ā

3. Iā€™m having a lovely cup of peppermint tea in my cute gold and white striped cup that I got from Kikki K.

4. I have plenty of food.šŸŽšŸšŸ„—šŸ—šŸ„•šŸ„¬šŸ„’šŸ…

5. I have plenty of books to read when my brain fog isnā€™t too bad, including two John Grisham novels I havenā€™t read as yet. Love John Grisham, such a great writer.šŸ“š

Hi @DMV64Ā  @Bee5Ā @Rabe

Thanks for dropping by. Brain fog is bad today so I canā€™t interact or read a lot today, but I thought Iā€™d just write down my gratitude list for today. Here goes again:Ā

Ā

1. Some friends invited me to go to the beach with them yesterday.šŸŒŠšŸ– I was too sick, but it was so heartwarming to be invited

2. Iā€™ve been watching Gilmore Girls. My favourite series ever!šŸ“ŗšŸ‘

3. Watched a movie on Netflix last night which I enjoyed, though I canā€™t remember the name of it at the moment.

4. I received another diamond painting in the mail today of a beautiful beach scene. Canā€™t wait to do it. I started on a diamond painting of a lighthouse last night.āœØāœØ

5. Had a delicious omelette and salad for lunch. šŸ³šŸ„—

6. Iā€™m so grateful for my friends. If I ever need anything they would be here at a moments notice.šŸ‘©šŸ½šŸ‘©ā€šŸ¦±

7. As usual, I looove my bedroom. I spend a lot of time in my bedroom due to CFS, but Iā€™ve made it into the cheeriest place ever!

8. I made a collage of some photos I took of birds, flowers and water.šŸ¦œšŸŒ¼šŸ’¦

9. I managed to do a tiny bit of housework.

10. The sun was shining today.ā˜€ļøā˜€ļøā˜€ļø Iā€™m a massive fan of rain too though šŸ’¦šŸ’¦šŸ’¦ā˜”ļø

Ā

Okay, I think itā€™s soooooooo important to still focus on the things we are grateful for. Withdrawals really are the worst thing Iā€™ve ever gone through in my life, but Iā€™m not putting my life on hold. Iā€™ve got at least ten years of tapering to go and Iā€™m adamant that Iā€™m still going to have a life during that time. If I only thought about the pain Iā€™m suffering I might as well give up right now, but Iā€™m not going to do that.Ā

Ā

Hang Ā in there everyone and please continue to look at the blessings despite the pain weā€™re going through.Ā

Ā

SendingĀ Ā hugs to all šŸ¤—šŸ¤—šŸ¤—šŸ’ššŸ’ššŸ’š

P.s. Itā€™s nearly time for beddyĀ byes now and my brain fog is still as thick as ever but I just wanted to say hang in there everyone! This is quite a fight we are all in, a fight for our lives really.Ā

Hi @hayduke

Ā

Hope youā€™re coping okay today. Actually there was someone else on here as well that got CFS fromĀ the meds, but I canā€™t remember who it was.Ā Iā€™ve had it for so long, itā€™s just part of my life. I canā€™t remember what itā€™s like to feel well. Iā€™m fortunate Iā€™m positive by nature, otherwise it would have really gotten me down. I still get out and about and do things, but I spend a lot of time in bed too. My bedroom is very cheery though. I try and do the best I can in whatever situation Iā€™m in. ā˜€ļøā˜€ļø

Ā

I managed to run the errand I needed to run today, didnā€™t know if I would have the strength but I did it. Yay!šŸŽ‰

Ā

Brain fog is bad still and Iā€™m struggling to read anything, just part of my illness. Everything around me has felt surreal for the last twenty five years, but again Iā€™ve learnt to live with that too.Ā

Ā

I woke up in a window this morning, but the waves have come again. My little brain is trying hard again to find some kind of equilibrium after the last taper. I always eventually stabilise again, and itā€™s on to the next taper.Ā

Ā

Okay, Iā€™m going to do something cheery now, maybe watch some favourite DVDs.Ā

Thanks Carmie.Ā  I don't know if I have CFS as such but I'm sure the neuroleptics have wiped out a lot of energy I should otherwise have.

Ā

Your good cheer in the face of this and the wds is inspiring and it's great to see you find so many ways to enjoy yourself!

Ā

Today was ok, thanks.Ā  I work part time and I like the people and the work, but it's pretty high powered stuff - most days I walk out of there feeling tired but brain slightly fritzed, today was one of those.Ā  I nearly just crashed out when I got home but got out to restorative yoga which is always a huge help for anti-brain-frizz.Ā  It's much less physically demanding than most types of yoga, you spend extended periods just resting and relaxing in various poses on comfy props and let the autonomous nervous system take over so its counterpart can rest.Ā  I couldn't believe when I discovered this, like a missing piece suddenly showing up in my life šŸ™‚Ā  Modern western society really thrashes our nervous systems, and coupled with the increased CNS sensitivity from my wds and past trauma setting off fight-or-flight way too often (that and anxiety are getting a lot better now after EMDR this year) this is one of the few reliable antidotes I've found.

Ā

Glad you were able to do your errand.Ā  I'm learning to pace myself with the energy I do have.Ā  It's frustrating and feels a bit crap when I have to stop before say having the whole house clean, but I know I'll do better to come back to it recharged.Ā  I don't have the same capacity for exercise as before the WDs but am staying moderately active and am hoping that full strength will return later.

Ā

Hope your telly's good tonight - I'm really enjoying Star Trek Discovery, and have dug out Airwolf for some cheesy high-budget 80s fun šŸ™‚

Ā

*hugs*

Hi @haydukeĀ @neroliĀ @GridleyĀ @Miracle123

Ā

Thank you all so so much for dropping by. Iā€™ve been in bed for most of the day, but thatā€™s due to my illness. Iā€™m in fairly good spirits, keeping myself entertained. Iā€™m still going through lots of waves, itā€™s exactly four weeks since I tapered from 7mg to 6.75mg.Ā

Ā

Hayduke, How did you find the EMDR? Iā€™ve always found that FasterEFT has been the best thing to help me deal with trauma. TheĀ last year though I canā€™t seem to motivate myself to do it regularly, even though I know itā€™s the best thing ever for me. Iā€™m going through soooo much stress, the cause ofĀ which I wonā€™t be mentioning on here, and I know it can really help me as itā€™s helped me so much in the past. I keep procrastinating, it has to stop!Ā

Ā

Neroli, Thank you for your kind words. I always eventually stabilise. Itā€™s been a month since my last taper and I hope I feel a bit better next week as I really, really, really want to go with friends to Australia Zoo. I love it there. Itā€™s not just the withdrawals though, Iā€™m struggling to do much at the moment due to my illness.Ā

Ā

Gridley, you are such a kind soul. When you mention Equador I can see such beautiful images in my head. A friend of mine went to Equador recently for a big international Bible Convention we had there and the photos were amazing! Everyone was in such beautiful colourful clothing. I would have absolutely loved being there. Iā€™d also love to see the mountains where you live and the donkeys and the dogs.

Ā

Miracle, Thanks so much for popping by. Iā€™ve missed you on this site. Your beautiful positive posts were always an inspiration to me. Iā€™m sooo glad youā€™re able to live more of a normal life now. One day you will be 100% recovered and I canā€™t wait to read your success story.Ā

Good morning from Aussie Land @Rabe

Ā

How are you doing today?Ā Well today is day 29 since my last taper from 7mg to 6.75mg. Iā€™mĀ still going through windows and waves. Iā€™m not sure how long it will take to stabilise this time but last time it took 48 days.Ā

Ā

Here are a few positives for the day, even though the day hasnā€™t hardly started:Ā

1. I slept well. šŸ˜“šŸ˜“

2. Itā€™s nice waking up in a cheery bedroom. I woke up feeling awful, but my cheery bedroom is good for the soul.ā˜€ļøā˜€ļø

3. A friend asked me to go for a drive on Sunday. Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™ll be well enough, but itā€™s nice to be asked. šŸš—šŸš—

4. The internet is a fabulous distraction when going through waves. I particularly like YouTube as there are videos on pretty much any subject.Ā

5. My pajamas are comfy.

6. Electricity. How cool is electricity! Sometimes we can take things for granted. I just switched on the light and I switched on the heater when I first woke up. Yes, it really is amazing what we take for granted.šŸ’”šŸ’”

7. On that note, itā€™s cool to have running water too. When I have the strength later on Iā€™ll have a nice shower.šŸšæšŸšæ

8. The fact I can read, which is another cool thing. So grateful Iā€™m literate. šŸ“–šŸ“–

9. Iā€™ve got yummy food in the fridge. Iā€™m a big fan of salads.šŸ„—šŸ„—

10. Iā€™ve got lots of distractions today to help me get through the day. Now, where to start.šŸ¤”

I wonā€™t look up your video as that will probably upset me but I do love how you find happiness in such simple everyday things. I love a good shower even more so during wd apart from when in a wave as nothing seems to make you feel any better.Ā Sounds sad but a shower then into bed with fresh sheets itā€™s a great way to end a day.

Ā

As for electricity you probably need yours to turn your air conditioner on unlikeĀ us in NZ when itā€™s finallyĀ got cold.

Hi @Tom37Ā @neroli

Ā

Thanks for dropping around.Ā

Ā

Yes, a good shower is certainly one of the things to be grateful for Tom.Ā Speaking of showersĀ Iā€™m trying to find the strength to get out of bed and have one. I need to get to the shops to get some groceries, and Iā€™m catching up with friends this afternoon. I hope you slept okay, I see youā€™ve been having problems with insomnia.Ā

Ā

Thanks for the video Neroli, I think Iā€™ve seen a bit of it in the past. Iā€™ll watch it when I have some brain power. Struggling to focus at the moment. I started reading a novel last night, but didnā€™t get very far.šŸ˜

Ā

Just for documentation: Today is day 31 since I dropped from 7mg to 6.75mg.Ā

Ā

Okay, things Iā€™m grateful for:

1. Iā€™m looking forward to reading the novel I started: Camino Island by John Grisham. Iā€™m a massive John Grisham fan.šŸ“š

2. Iā€™ve got a couple of other John Grisham novels that I havenā€™t read yet here too. Yay! Iā€™ve read most of them.šŸ“ššŸ“š

3. I managed to do a bit of decluttering yesterday, and threw out a lot of paperwork etc. Decluttering is one of my favourite things, I always feel so good after I do it. I hate having lots of stuff.

4. I started another diamond painting of a beach scene. šŸŒŠšŸ–

5. Iā€™m catching up with friends this afternoon. Yay!šŸŽ‰

6. I had a good nightā€™s sleep. I wake up exhausted and barely being able to move anyway because of my illness, but at least I know my body has has rest.šŸ˜

7. Iā€™ve been making some question and answer cards for friendā€™sĀ kids.šŸ§’šŸ»šŸ‘¦šŸ¼šŸ‘©šŸ½

8. Iā€™m going to have a lovely shower, as soon I manage to get up. šŸšæšŸšæ

9. Going to make myself a yummy lunch.šŸ˜‹

10. Going to have a yummy cup of peppermint tea.ā˜•ļø

Okay, I think this is really important. I know withdrawals are the worst thing any of us will ever go through, but I think itā€™s important to continue to distract ourselves. We canā€™t stop the withdrawals so we just have to somehow put our focus on something else.Ā

Ā

The art of flow is extremelyĀ too. Some days when withdrawals are severe Iā€™ll watch DVDs, but then I canā€™t seem to distract myself enough so I start playingĀ word games or doing crafts etc. Itā€™s so important to do something that puts us into flow.Ā Ā Being in flow is doing something that makes the hours pass by, and before you know it you donā€™t know where the time went.Ā

Ā

Iā€™ve done that with lots of things. One evening I was playing word games and before I knew it it was bedtime, the same thing happened with some crafts I did or a book I read when my brain fog wasnā€™t so bad.Ā

Ā

I canā€™t concentrate much at the moment and Iā€™m really faint due to low blood pressure but Iā€™m going to catch up with friends this afternoon. If I need to lie down, so be it.

Ā

Pleeeeeeease find things that put you in flow.Ā

Hey Carmie,

Ā

Good to hear you're catching up with friends, I'm doing similar later.Ā  Mostly work, planning the move and packing aside from that.

Ā

Re EMDR, the clinical psychologist I went to specialises in the kind of things that get you put on neuroleptics.Ā  I've linked to the BPS pamphlet in my thread which links psychosis to past trauma and discusses approaches to treating it besides the toxic drugs.Ā  I was very pleased to find a sympathetic ear.Ā  She offered me a couple of ways of working through my issues and we agreed EMDR was probably the most helpful approach.Ā  We had a few sessions working out the stresses and life difficulties that led to my 'crisis' in the 90s.Ā

Ā

It seems to me now anyone with half a brain would have been able to get me on the right track if they had listened to me better back then, but the prescribing goblin in the 90s denied any kind of talk therapy could help, told us all I had some defect 'chemical imbalance' and put me on the olanzapine "for life", the miserable sod.

Ā

I didn't give up on taking charge of my own healing (it was clear no one else would - they only really cared whether I was holding down a job), started lowering my dosage, exercising and after years of meditation some really hard things started coming up.Ā  That's when I found my own psychologist as mentioned above.

Ā

The idea with the EMDR is that when you have unresolved trauma, particularly in your subconscious, it just hangs around being spiky rotten and unpleasant and sets off your fight-or-flight reflex way too often.Ā  So if you can make these trauma/s conscious and pass them on to the part of the brain that normally stores memory like all the normal experiences do, you can unclog your body from hanging onto the pain and start healing.

Ā

I knew there was something amiss there most of my life.Ā  The EMDR worked amazingly well and a bunch of things started coming up over a few sessions.Ā  I was staggered by how vivid the recall is with this technique, and how my body was storing tensions from early childhood.Ā  The smells, the time of day, who was there, what was said, how I was feeling, right back there again.Ā  Practical time travel in a sense!

Ā

After two sessions we both felt there was something that was still to be unearthed, the root issue.Ā  It was a huge relief in a way but there it was the next time, I had to relive being sexually abused at age 4 or 5.Ā  Revolting and very uncomfortable, but now I know what happened, and my body and brain can process it consciously.Ā  I found it hard to believe for a while but my body left me in no doubt.

Ā

My so-called 'diagnosis' back then was based on symptoms that are directly congruent with surviving child sexual abuse.Ā  No need for any of the goblin's rubbish to explain things.Ā  Nothing wrong with me in the first place, and nothing I could have done at age 4 or 5 could have repelled that attack.Ā  My poor developing brain!

Ā

Everything started falling into place after that, parts of my life that had confused me made sense, depression and anxiety are less than 1/5 of what they were before.Ā  Lots of anger, like lots.Ā  So much of my lifetime effectively stolen that I will never get back. Ā  My psychologist has been able to help me channel that into safe and constructive outlets.Ā  Still working out how to tell my family, but I feel they need to know some time.Ā  Will probably write them a letter.Ā

Ā

On the up side I'm a lot less shy now.Ā  The only problematic symptoms I'm having now all seem wd-related, and each time I hold for a while it confirms that for me as they settle.Ā  I feel once I'm off the rest of this blasted compound for a while I'm going to be pretty much who I should've been already.Ā  Looking forward to that and it does keep getting better as I go.

Ā

So yeah it was kind of an archaeological dig for me.Ā  Tiring, painful, difficult and messy.Ā  But I'm on the right side of it now and life keeps improving.Ā  Finding the right practitioner made it possible.Ā  I didn't even know if I was going to be able to get the result I needed but thankfully did.Ā  Feels like I've walked over the biggest mountain in my life path so far.Ā  Sure, there'll be more healing to do but I've got the splinter out now.

Ā

Hope that's useful info and that your weekend is ace!

Hi @hayduke

Ā

Thank you so much for explaining what helped you with the abuse you went through. Iā€™m really sorry for what youā€™ve gone through. Good on you for taking care of your own healing.Ā

Ā

EMDR sounds very similar to FasterEFT. Itā€™s all to do with the subconscious and once you get rid of the emotions connected to anything we haveĀ gone through there are no longer triggers. We can still remember the events but we no longer have an negative emotional response connected with them.Ā

Ā

I have a friend who is a practioner in FasterEFT and she really helped me get rid of the negative emotions connected to hospitals. Iā€™ve spent a lot of time in hospitals and every time I drove past the hospital I would get a feeling of being trapped. Thatā€™s gone now, I donā€™t feel anything, I even went with someone to the hospital the other day. All I thought was, these doctors sure are trigger happy with their pills.šŸ¤£ I donā€™t trust doctors whatsoever now, I go with my gut instinct. I didnā€™t feel uncomfortable atĀ the hospital though, I just thought from now on Iā€™m responsible for my own health and Iā€™m not going to be persuaded by anyone.Ā

Ā

You have inspired me to continueĀ working on other traumas. Iā€™m so glad EMDR works as good for you as FasterEFT works for me. Now, I just have to stop procrastinating and put it into practice. I can do it on my own, but I might go and see my friend again as well in the future and get a few sessions.Ā

Ā

Hereā€™s to working on our subconscious pain.Ā

@Carmie yep find the ones who can help you on your wavelength, not the ones who want to boss you round with the 'father knows best' crap :-)

Ā

That's good your EFT helps make you more relaxed and comfortable, has to be a good thing.Ā

Ā

If it helps but it's hard to keep in the habit (meditation, exercise, eating healthy are all a bit like that, fine once you're up and running but hard to kick start sometimes after a break) I'm a fan of getting someone else involved!Ā  Like meditating solo is great but if I'm too tired and just wouldn't, a guided meditation is still a good option.Ā

Ā

The stuff that we worked on with EMDR for me was what had made me think "time to get a pro in" and I'm glad I did.Ā  I don't think I would have resolved it on my own.Ā  Even if that was just 3% of the stuff I've worked through with meditation :-)

Ā

@Songbird done, cheers :-)

Just dropping inĀ briefly, Iā€™m really braindead. Iā€™ve had more windows the last couple of days. Hopefully within a week or two Iā€™ll be able to taper again. I get really excited every time the numbers go down a little. Today is day 33 since dropping from 7mg to 6.75mg.Ā

Ā

As usual just want to write down the things Iā€™m grateful for, so here goes:

1. A friend rang me mid morning yesterday wanting to go for a drive, so we went to a town up on a mountain. It took us about an hour an a half each way to get there. I love road trips!šŸš—

2. We cranked up the music while driving, love itšŸŽ¼šŸŽ¼šŸŽ¼šŸŽ¼

3. Itā€™s such a beautiful place, so much greenery everywhere.šŸŒ³šŸŒ³šŸŒ³

4. We went to some gardens and saw beautiful flowers. šŸŒøšŸŒŗ.

5. We played on the playground, big kids that we are.šŸ‘§šŸ»

6. There was a spectacular lookout looking over other mountains and we took some fun photos.šŸ“øā›°

7. We met some cute dogs while in one of the gardens, one dogĀ was called Dribbles n I know why.šŸ¶

8. Iā€™m going to Australia Zoo tomorrow. Yay!šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰

9. So looking forward to catching up with a friend thatā€™s going with me to the zoo tomorrow.šŸ’š

10. Just had a delicious lunch.šŸ˜‹

My sentiments exactly. When I could still read Foucault was good for this. My current trauma therapist sees my going to psychiatrists as a destructive act and a repetition of powerlessness or trauma. Maybe this might resonate.

Ā

Carmie, your determination is wonderful.

I find myself very blocked cognitively . Do you have any current Ā tips other than just attending to nervous system?

You like period dramas. Try ā€œBeecham Houseā€ . Itā€™s set in late 1700s India. Currently on itv or British tv.
