Melissa5000: nerve/muscle pain/burning after fast taper

Recommended Posts

Melissa5000

Ok thanks a lot ChessieCat and Altostrata for your explanation! Now I understand what you mean.

In 2016/2017 I had many sessions of osteopathy for face ache but every time when I tapered my face ache got worse. The sessions worked but short after a taper my pain got worse. Mostly 2 months later my pain improved again on its own. The osteopath could not help me as long as I wanted to taper. He said just to stop all my meds. He said it was all in my head the rebound pains. I could not just stop all my meds. So the osteopathy stopped. It doesn't matter as I can now do triggerpointmassage myself with the book: Triggerpoint Therapy by Clair Davies.

Since the crash I have pain in other places as well instead of only face ache. And this time I did not recover. I updosed as you said, have been holding for over half a year.

Now even 0,12 mg seems hard to taper! Should I hold and wait very long and hope my symptoms improve over time? My body  pains are a withdrawal symptom and not a previous condition.

Last night I slept very well. But today my arms hurt. I am only reading, watching tv, and a bit on the internet. I did a few mindfulness practises from a dvd and it helped me to relax a bit. The tension in my arms lowers a bit.

Yes, stop tapering, let your system rest for a couple of months.

Do your arms hurt because of the way you sit at the computer?

I updosed everything since 16th january. I am back on 9 beads amitriptyline.

No the computer is not the problem.

My arms hurt with every normal use and movement since I stopped 25 mg amitriptyline on 22 th september 2017. It is withdrawal pain. I am not typing much.

The last few nights I slept like a baby. My arms still hurt a bit every day. I have to take it easy.

I went on my ebike into town and for groceries. I did the VR game therapy, qi gong and meditation. That helps a bit.

I slept 8 hours. Did the laundry and was cleaning for 1,5 hour.

Then I had uncontrollable cryingspells. I fear the future. I know I cannot taper anymore. But I get sun allergy from the generic amitriptyline. It happens allready in modest daylight. It will be very difficult to leave the house. Sarotex Retard is off the market. My beads will run out in a few years. And then? I cannot stop the med. Tapering I tried recently but failed. I am stuck. I fear the sun allergy. But tapering will make me bedridden. I fear I'll loose everything. No income, heavily disabled and they have to put me in a nursing home for years.

I also get sun allergy from generic lyrica. (pregabaline) What if the brand Lyrica goes off the market as well? Should I live for many years with unbearable sun allergy? Or should I taper what makes me disabled?

I hope someone can give me advice.

I did qi gong. Only a short videoclip on you tube. I feel a little better after that.

This videoclip is a bit helpful for me:

Last night I slept 8 hours.

I did qi gong again. I could only do half of the movements but it is a bit helpful. I found this practise that calmes the nervous system:

10 minutes evening qi gong /calming

I also like this one that is a shorter one:

7 minutes of magic

The second one is so short that even I can do it! :)

Melissa,

Do you still get pain from the root canal? I understand your worries about the future, sometimes I find myself lost in a cycle of worry about what could happen.

Really though, it is best to see what does happen and make the best decision you can when the time is appropriate.

Hi Eymen23! The pain in my tooth dissapeared right after the rootcanal. But a few days later the pain changed into face ache. I never had this before. But the excruciating pain during the 2 hour root canal session caused chronic pain in the face nerves. My brain sensitisised from those painful traumatic moments in the dentist chair. A normal movement got amplified to huge pain. After many pills of lyrica and amitriptyline and a few years practising talking and laughing and chewing the pain got less intense. I tapered a lot of my pills. It is a lot better now but not totally gone yet. I still need a few pills for it. But maybe later I can manage with less and less pils.

My biggest problem today is the widespread muscle and nervepain after my partial taper. It looks like extreme fybromyalgia pain. But I am sure it is not that. But it looks just like it in an extreme version.

My common sense knows you are absolutely right! But every now and then I still get overwhelmed by fear and despair about the future. Cryingspells! Rumination. I know it doesn't help. But I can't prevent those moments to show up. It just happens. It is probably another withdrawal symptom. I was not like this before meds. Thanks anyway for your support. It helps a bit.

It’s totally normal to get overwhelmed like that Melissa, we are only human after all!:)

I was asking about the root canal and face pain, as realistically, if that has recovered by now, there’s a very strong chance you can complete this taper at some point in the future.

I’m guessing that the medication helped with the face pains, which has since naturally healed by a large degree. The problem now is that withdrawal caused body-wide pain.

I guess it would be like drinking alcohol during a stressful time - the stressful event will end but you still need to withdraw from the alcohol that helped you temporarily.

Just my take on it, but I’m hopeful for you!

Thursday night I forgot my night dose!

I slept 7,5 hours. The next morning on friday I woke up with scary dreams. My nerves felt everywhere very sensitive. I had to thake it easy that day.

Saturday I slept 7,5 hours. I had quite a good day. I did some cleaning and went on my ebike for groceries. Unfortunatelly my face ache got worse after too much chewing on crisps.

Last night I slept 8 hours. I have every now and then tiny musclejerks in my eyelids. And I had musclejerks in my tongue! I did the laundry and some decluttering. I have been watching tv.

I did every day qi gong "7 minutes of magic". It is really nice to do! And the best thing about this little exercise is that even I can do it! I is almost a year ago that I did some modest exercising! Before I did a lot more. But I finally found someting that seems to work for me. Qi Gong is very gentle. I can only do it for 7 minutes. But at the moment I am allready happy with this!

I had VR game therapy in a group. The game designers aked us as patients what games we would like so they can devolop new ones and improve the current games.

Yesterday my boyfriend arrived. We have a nice weekend together and we watch sports.  I love the 7 minutes of magic!

Today I went with my boyfriend to the gym, Basic Fit.

I wanted to practise my walking. I managed to walk for half an hour slowly at 3,5 km/hour. I tried the crosstrainer for 2 minutes and did 5 minutes of modest cycling. Then I did one exercise for my arms. In between I had to sit resting. My boyfriend was cycling very fast for a long time and did some exercises with weights. It was very nice to do. Now I have to wait and see how I will be tomorrow!

The muscle pain is not too bad after the gym from yesterday. But I got yesterday a storm of nervepain around my arms and I still have it today. Now late in the evening it gets better.

I think I was too long on the treadmill.   Next time I should do it shorter.

After a day of rest I managed to go for a small walk again. This time I walked 1500 meter. It went fine.

Yesterday I visited my parents with my sister and her husband. Everything was fine till I told them I am worried about sun allergy from generic Lyrica. I fear the day that Lyrica goes off the market. I get sun allery from the generic amitriptyline as well. I'll get problems leaving the house on the generic. I wondered if there is a medicine against the itch. As my sister is a doctor I asked her if she knew a med. I was really worried. As soon as I spoke about it my parents and my sister and brother in law started to argue with me that it is not the case yet. That I am worried about nothing. That I can simply take another med. And my sister said she did not know about a med against itch. They started screaming to me. I started crying. In the car back home my sister did not want to talk about it. She treated me like a kid. In front of my house my sister and brother in law said they  meant it so well. Horrible. I said how I thought about it. They only started defending themselves. I was really sad and dissappointed in them. I felt really awfull. I learned my lesson well: Dont share my problems with family. They will only make me feel worse. No understanding at all. I will put my mask on and tell them it goes fantastic in life. I rather lie to them now. When we meet they will meet my body, I don't ever show my soul to them again.

Today I try a new generic for amitriptyline. There are 3 generics that give me sun allergy. So fingers crossed that this one is not causing trouble.

The last 2 days I was a lot on the phone, and reading about neuromind techniques to overcome chronic pain.

I am trying a new generic for amitriptyline. Tonight my face felt very hot! It stayed like that for a few hours. It must be a side effect of the new generic. Later it dissapeared.

I just have to wait and see what happens with the sun allergy.

I had a very short night as the package deliverer woke me up. I ordered a few wintercoats on sale.  I am happy with the new coats!

Because of the lack of sleep I have everywhere aches and pains now. So I practise a few neuromind techniques for pain that I read about. I am new at this so I have to learn it. But it looked like it helped a bit allready!

Today I don't notice any problems with the generic. The sunallergy I may get from the generic amitriptyline is fotoallergy (allergic for UVA). It always takes some time before it shows up. I hope it may stay away this time!

After dinner I had the super hot face again. This time it did not stay that long.

I only slept 6,5 hours. I felt my nerves vibrating everywhere in my body. After I took my second dose of the day this cleared up. The step over to generic amitriptyline causes some trouble. I am however on the same dose. Strange!

I slept over 8 hours! Very good deep sleep!

Today I went on my ebike for groceries. It went ok. It was very sunny so I put suncream on.

I hope I don't get the foto allergy from the sunlight, fingers crossed.

In the morning I got the vibrating nerves again. After dinner my body calmed down. After my second dose of meds my body calmed down a bit more. I always feel the best in the evening after my second dose of medication. Then I have relatively the highest amount of meds in my blood.

My arms still hurt a bit.

Saturday the feeling of the vibrating nerves had gone. I slept 8 hours. I had a lovely day. I cleaned the house and met my boyfriend.

Sunday The nasty feeling did not come back. I slept 6,5 hours. Not enough so I had more aches and pains. I had to be more carefull. I put suncream on. I sat with my boyfriend in the sun for 15 minutes, went for groceries by car. I cooked and washed dishes and we were enjoying ourselves at home. No sunallergy yet.............fingers crossed!!
