Yeah it's kinda strange, I mean before this adverse reaction even I could not sleep at afternoon...just closing my eyes for few minutes used to give me a racing heart and I used to wake up with a shake.... Sleeping all day but still don't feel fresh, this is sad :(

I get that too after I wake up I feel like I didn't sleep at all I feel super tired and brain dead. It's better getting sleep though man the insomnia sucks especially with the withdrawals. Our mind and body are pretty strong so we'll make it through this.

Sleep is on your side.Don't sleep too much though.it adds to the depression if your trying to sleep too much.

We are constructing ourselves now. We have to try to limit internal and external stresses on our nervous system.

Yeah , this is something I don't think anyone of us had imagined....All these sufferings of people , it's been 2 months since I came to know about this forum and other groups and 3 people have committed suicide in two months....This is just not fair, these drugs should be banned I don't give a **** if they help a small no. Of people

Dont take this for gospel and I am definately not encouraging reinstatement but from being on this site a short while it seems people that reinstate  and have a bad reaction ,reach full recovery quicker than people than dont

M just worried man, that's all I can say for now... I do get some good moments but somedays it feels like it's never gonna end....I just wish I get my cognitive functions back so they I can study...As far as reinstatement is considered I don't want these poisons in my body

We have to consider we will have to ride it out.I agree these drugs suck.Nobody prescribing them thinks about w/d or adverse reactions. We are altered for now.We will be ok .

Hi Anubhav,

I myself was on Escitalopram for ~9 years (age 20-29), stopped in May 2017.

Went through lots of the major symptoms you were going through. Wasn't able to sleep at times, would wake up constantly with panic attacks (heart racing), etc.

Those things eventually subsided; but one thing I still have bothering me is my loss of cognitive function. Honestly scared to say, but it still feels like half my brain is missing. Hard to learn new things, loss of motor and functioning skills, etc.

It was fine while I was on it, but after ~6 months off it, it was obvious that I became more sluggish and dumber version of myself. Anything that requires a bit of brain processing power would exhaust me.

Definitely had my experiences of windows and waves, but the consistent wave that always comes back is when I attempt and try new things.

Am willing to give myself 1-2 more years to heal, then re-analyze my situation.

Like you, I am very scared to go back on the medication.

In some ways, it helped me; but in some way, I felt that it wasn't really me. So what's the point of living like that you know?

I see that you were on it for was way less time than me, and also younger; so I say your chances are definitely better than me at recovering.

Let me know if you want more details, wish you all the best.

-Ethan

Hey Man Thanks For Stopping By , Sorry You too having a Bad Time....M just worried about the Adverse Reaction which has caused the decline in my Cognitive Functions , I wish I would have not got back to my Psychiatrist but like everyone I trusted my doctor

Anyways Thanks For Your Wishes , From my experience I would never tell you to go back on Meds just Ride it Out , Don't Look Back.... I know you Gonna Heal

So Ethan I would Say "Your Mission Should You Choose To Accept It , Is Go Ahead And Not Look Back" :D

Hello ethanc, thanks for your message. Hope you are doing fine. Did you do it ct or did you taper?I'm tapering myself at the moment and tapered a bit fast. Feeling quite good and very bad within 1 hour and that is very confusing. Am stable at16.5 mg now for a month and am hesitant to tapering any further for now.

Keep up the spirit!!

Cheers

I get similar symptoms.

Its possible you've got a tight diaphragm, and you're not breathing properly (due to anxiety/stress/tension).

This can lead to hyperventilation.

Do you have access to an osteopath / someone who can ease the tension in your upper body?

I would have to look into that :(

This thing sucks....It makes me stressed out wt if I get a stroke

do you have cardiovascular problems. If you think you do I would recommend seeing a cardiologist to rule it out.

last year when I was on the full dose of my medications I had all kinds of chest pain symptoms breathing symptoms and all came back negative  every test was done.

anxiety can manifest in very strange ways

. Recently I had my symptoms change also quite a bit and I started tripping out about it thinking that I did something or this or that and I think what happens is symptoms change because your brain and nervous system heels and different places all the time so the symptoms are going to change with that.

Hello guys and girls,

Anu, sorry to hear you have these symptoms.

I am on citalopram 18 mg at the moment. Last year I was on 25 mg and all was fine so I stepped to 15 mg.

Then suddenly I had this major panick attack which almost made me crazy and filled with anxiety. I couldn't breathe normally I thought and my heart rate went up all the time causing a new panick attack. My chest felt so tight and I felt I was choking. They made this cardiogram and all looked fine. I still had tight chest and went to cardiologist. I had physiological test and heart rate went to 200 almost. Everything was fine. They tested my blood, excellent results.

Anxiety can make you think you have a heart disease or some serious health issues.

My father panicked all his life and went to cardiologist 40 times in his life. Couldn't breathe, felt chest pressure. He died of cancer and his heart was excellent till his last day!

Do you have chest pain or pressure when you exercise? Cause when you do, you should visit a doctor. If walking stairs or exercise make you relaxed and just makes your heart beat faster there is very probably nothing wrong with your heart.

I experienced all this. Anxiety can do very strange things. Vomit, chest pain, sweating, etc....

If you have doubts try do do such a test in hospital. If your results are just fine you can accept your symptoms much better which causes less panic which causes less chest pressure..... Your getting out of that circle.

Cheers

Jozeff

if you're worried about it I would definitely get the testsndone. But I can tell you this much my symptoms have changed and I started tripping out about it too. Taking it was everything I was doing wrong so keep that in mind. And if you're still tripping out about how you should have reinstated I just found something out about my medicine Seroquel that you can become tolerant to it when you're holding your dose and it actually has the opposite effect which is insomnia which is what I have now. It has no sedating effect on me anymore
