Niacin (Vitamin B3) as nicotinic Acid

Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride

Tart Cherry (from prunus cerasus) fruit Concentrate

Jujube (from Ziziphus jujube) seed extract

GABA

L-Theanine

L-Tryptophan

Meletonin 1.5mg

5-HTP from Griffonia Simplicifolia (seed extract

That's a lot of ingredients!  When in severe withdrawal like you are, herbs and supplements that would normally be calming can sometimes have unexpected effects.  I experienced this with L-Theanine - it worked great for a few nights, then went paradoxical - i.e. had the opposite effect - instead of calming it made anxiety much worse.  This is important:  if you are still taking sertraline you should not take tryptophan or 5HTP as these both affect serotonin and can cause a potentially dangerous interaction.

In general, melatonin is safe to take - I would take it as a single ingredient, not in a formula with a bunch of other stuff.  See the topic about melatonin (DJ2010 posted the link above).   Low doses of melatonin can work better than high doses - I've found 0.5mg to 1mg works okay for me, but 2mg goes paradoxical.

this is very strong, its 3mg, the one in the link I provided is 0.3mg, ones this strong often go paradoxical and give opposite effect, ive tried many brands at many different strengths and the 0.3mg one works best for me, you can always work your way up and take 2 if it is not enough for you

2001 - 2005 prozac,  2001 - 2017 various benzos, mainly diazapem and zanex,  2002 - 2017 olanzapine or seroquel,  2002 -2017 propanolol, 2005 - 2009 venlafaxine 75mg , forced to go cold turkey off venlafaxine as moved Thailand, doctor cut me off and couldn't get it there, severely ill for over 2 years, countered withdrawals with more zanex and seroquel

2014 returned to UK, mainly to get treatment getting off meds

doctor advised to taper seroquel over a few weeks, severely ill and bed bed-bound so reinstated it, 2015 tapered seroquel myself slower over a few months, was off it 2 months and was too ill so went on olanzapine, became zombie and too tired to get out of bed, went back on seroquel, very depressed so went back on venlafaxine, didnt work  so doctor swapped to zoloft became very agitated so back on venlafaxine

June 2016 - felt strong enough to begin tapering again, started what I thought was a slow taper of all meds,  2016 July Not had any alcoholic drink since this date,

2016 October completely off diazepem, 2017 Feb completely off seroquel, 2017 March completely off proponanlol, 2017 April (day before birthday) completely off venlafaxine, OFF ALL MEDS 11/4/2017, was fine for nearly 3 months and then delayed withdrawal hit,

supplements taking: turmeric capsules, NiaCel (nicotinamide riboside), Vit B12 sublingual, Vit B3, Vit B6, Vit B1, apple cider vinegar, manuka umf 10 honey, camu camu powder,  melatonin when needed, epsom salt baths, juices, smoothies,

It's hard to say.  As far as I know herbs and supplements don't normally have withdrawal syndromes like pharmaceuticals, although if you've been taking something daily it's possible your body has become used to it and may notice its absence to some degree.

It might be better to stop only one thing at a time - with any kind of change - adding or removing - it's better to make only one change at a time, so if something happens you'll have a better idea of what caused it.  If you remove them all at once and there is any kind of problem, you won't have any idea which thing was the cause.

I have 1mg melatonin tablets - I think that's the lowest dose available here - they are not time-released.  Melatonin is prescription-only in NZ.  With the 1mg tablets I can cut in halves or quarters to get 0.5mg or 0.25mg.

you may still be able to place the order but it may be stopped at customs and you will lose your money, I am not sure if they declare the exact contents of the parcel, most just write health supplement, customs might pull the parcel for checking or they might not and it will slip through, your risk

Hi Deejay, I am sorry to see that you are suffering this way.

Looking at your history it is very clear that your nervous system is highly unstable with all the changes. When you reinstated zoloft at 200mg that was far, far too high. Sadly doctors don't understand this and just throw more drugs at the problem.

Can you tell us what you have taken in the last month, and especially the last 7 days, day by day.  You are taking many different drugs and different doses trying to feel better but they are making you worse. Your poor brain needs a break.  It is important we know this

Diazepam octazipam lorazepam temazepam can all turn paradoxical and cause the problems they are supposed to help.

Seroquel is often prescribed for sleep and is sedating at the lower doses.

Does the mirtazepine help? It is the latest drug and has only been taken a few days.

You need to stop panicking, you are not brain damaged for life, you will get better but you need to work out a regular dosage plan. Same drugs, same time every day in order to stabilise.  We will help you with that but we need precise doses . We also need a symptom PATTERN.  When do you take the drugs, and what time symptoms start.  We might be able to see what is causing which symptoms.

Something like this

8am zoloft 200   headache

9am lorazepam   sweating

etc........

**I am not a medical professional, if in doubt please consult a doctor with withdrawal knowledge.

Different drugs occasionally (mostly benzos) 1976 - 1981 (no problem)

1993 - 2002 in and out of hospital. every type of drug + ECT. Staring with seroxat

2002  effexor.

Tapered  March 2012 to March 2013, ending with 5 beads.

Withdrawal April 2013 . Reinstated 5 beads reduced to 4 beads May 2013

Restarted taper  Nov 2013

OFF EFFEXOR Feb 2015    :D

Tapered atenolol and omeprazole Dec 2013 - May 2014

Tapering tramadol, Feb 2015 100mg , March 2015 50mg

 July 2017 30mg.  May 15 2018 25mg

Taking fish oil, magnesium, B12, folic acid, bilberry eyebright for eye pressure.

My story http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/4199-hello-mammap-checking-in/page-33

Lesson learned, slow down taper at lower doses. Taper no more than 10% of CURRENT dose if possible

You are taking too many drugs. Stop adding drugs and supplements immediately.

Do not add melatonin. Your situation is complicated enough.

Stop flailing around. You will need to make an effort to stay calm while we discuss what to do. Please read the responses from the staff carefully and answer their questions completely.

Something did happen to me though on the 3rd march. It was no panic attack, what I am experiencing now are panic attacks.

It was like my insides were full of sand paper, to describe the chemical burning feeling better. This horrible feeling lasted a good 4-5 days 24/7 and then came in waves, then eventually subsided in roughly a week and a half. My heart was pounding for a good 2-3 hours when it 1st happened. About 4 days later my vision changed, concentration went, short term memory went funny.

This makes sense. It takes about 4 days for the Zoloft to ramp up in your system. 200mg was too strong for you, over 4 days, it got stronger.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I honestly feel like my current mental state goes far beyond your typical withdrawal syndrome

You are TOO MANY drugs. We see this fairly often. Your doctor has been remiss. You will need to decide if you want to continue taking his or her advice.

I apologize Altostrata

I took 200mg Seroquel last night and the herbs. No Meletonin spray or mirtazipine. Tightness in chest and arms, pulse beating through head, luying on back with hands on chest hands all numb (a lot of the time). Nerve/buzzing feeling through whole body. 3 extreme panic type attacks with chest quivering and internal trembling. Woke several times. No dreams that I can remember. When I wake it's the usual tight/tense inner feeling that I cannot luy still. frequent hypno hallucinations and self talking. Feeling of losing control and detachment

7:20 burning arms, got up, usual feeling of dread 0.25mg lorazepam and 200mg zoloft, stabbing pains in chest/neck, sitting here now tingling left arms and tight chest. No herbs this morning

The mirtazapine helps only a fraction with sleep but not a lot but is not making me feel any better.

Last 7 days have taken the herbs, lorazepam, Zoloft, Seroquel, melatonin spray and x2 40mg propanolol's because of heavy heart beating.

I a no longer going to take the herbs or melatonin spray. I am trying my best not to take the Loraz that's why I have gone down to .025mg morning arvo last 2 days. I will try and not take another 0.25mg until tomorrow. I am also not going to take any more propranolol. I have not had Diazepam for over a month and a half, no oxazepam for 3 weeks, no tamezepam for about 2 1/2 months

I will take any help you can offer and will stop going off on a tangent, I need to get well and yes I know I need to stop playing around with all these meds and that stops right now.

The only reason I am saying brain damage is because of my visual change, hearing senses altered & speech issues/inner rambling, confusion, memory issues.. Also doing things that I'm not think about. For eg I will go to have a cigarette and walk to the fridge then think what the hell am I doing, It's like I'm in a constant day drea state/total daze. All this started on the 3rd March and has only gotten worse.

I would give anything to not have to deal with Dr's and Psych's apart from getting the required prescription for whatever, again I will take on any advice and assistance and no more stuffing around.

If you want I can give you an update of my day tonight

The herb pills that are meant to help with sleep, don't! And I also have no idea of what's in them as said above, all written in Chinese.

I only have x5 1mg Loraz pills left plus 3 .025mg pieces which I cut this morning. As said above also, will try not have another 0.25mg until tomorrow and will try my best to wean off them this weak. I do not have another repeat prescription for them. They do help but I know at the end of the day they are only a quick fix and only adding more issues

I have mentioned that tie is getting away from me.. minutes turning to hours etc.. the last 2 days were horrible like this especially yesterday. I can hardly account for any of it. I know I was sitting here a lot of the day, went for a walk but apart from that it's like the day was not evan there.

I have an appt with the Psych this Thurs. He's going to ask how the mirtazapine is going. I didn't end up taking it when he gave it to me 4 weeks (roughly) ago because I didn't want another pill combo. So not quite sure what to do. Have another appt with the Chinese doc this Fri and he will ask how the pills are going, so will most likely cancel that I guess.

The Dr wanted me to see a Neurologist, but is there a point if my nervous system has crashed? He would only be telling me what you guys are and I don't think there would be any quick fix for it that they could do.

Also as said above, if all the rubbish in my head wasn't here and my eye sight didn't change and all I was coping with was the physical bodily symptoms then I would be able to cope a lot better. I know it's going to take a long time to heal from this and I need to come to terms with this, and stop thinking there will be a quick fix. I also need to stop catastrophizing all day long and stop blaming myself.

Thanks DJ.  It was just a small oversight, but we do need the information to be as accurate as possible.

deejay, if I were you, I'd drop 25mg Zoloft right off. This is close enough to 10% of 200mg that it shouldn't cause a problem. Let us know how you're doing.

My belief is that you have far too much serotonergics on board, and the mirtazapine-Zoloft combination makes this worse. Your doctor has been remiss, see this https://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/remeron-with-zoloft-1640-1015-2057-1348.html

We need a daily record of your symptoms, when you take your drugs, and their dosages. This includes anything you're taking "as needed." It is best presented as a simple list, with time on the left and notation on the right, one item per line.

Exactly what herbs and supplements are you taking? Please list below with dosages, if known. Put a star (*) next to the ones you know are helping. Thank you.

Let us know if there are any significant changes in your symptom pattern after reducing the Zoloft. It will take at least 4 days for this change to register in your system.

You will want your doctor to prescribe liquid Zoloft for further tapering.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

The Lorazepam isn't doing much now as well either, the 0.25mg only lasted an hour yesterday and the dose  7:30 this morning worked a little but not so much now. So either I am developing a quick tolerance, or my inner anxiety is just getting so bad the tablets no longer can do much. I have been trying to find things to relieve the excruciating anxiety but nothing works, I will need to try harder. I literally cannot sit still and things get worse when trying to sit still. I will try some more deep breathing techniques today. I also get a pretty bad headache late arvo every day which a presuming lorazepam. It happened with the Diazepam early on as well but not with the Oxazepam.

Hi Deejay

yeah, i have a lot of the same things you describe.  i have gotten in the habit of talking to myself since quitting the meds.  it's usually not too bad unless i do it around someone on the  walking path near my apartment, then it can be kind of embarrassing.  i also hear music or pop songs as i am falling asleep.  that's actually a pretty common effect of wd.  a lot of people describe having looping songs going on in their heads during withdrawal.  and i also walk around my apartment in a distracted daze quite often, forgetting what i was going to do.  it's mostly my inner dialogue that distracts me.  For a while, i was constantly going outside with my zipper down because i was so exhausted and mentally weary from all the sleep deprivation.

with my hypnagogic hallucinations, i will close my eyes to try to sleep and within 30 seconds or so start to see images while i am still conscious.  often it's of walking down and empty dark road or up to the side of a deep dark hole.  they aren't dreams you can really go into so i end up pulling myself awake even though i am exhausted.  it's hell and sleep deprivation makes them worse and more prevalent.  once, i dreamed i was walking down a road and semi truck with it's headlights on was bearing down on me.  this happened after about a minute of sleep.  it's pretty horrible stuff for the most part that i see when i close my eyes.

the actual dreams i have at night are so strange now and almost always are nightmarish.  Sometimes they are as realistic as television.  the imagery is so different and depressed.  it sucks.

i also sit around a lot in a daze wondering where my day went, even though i usually don't do a whole lot due to fatigue.  it had been different earlier on-  where i tried to stay busy- i would go out to golf courses on my bike even though my health was bad and look for golf balls, usually finding around 200-300 a day and selling them online as a way of making a little money, since in the condition i am in i am not of much use for a regular job.  now i have a host of digestive problems and end up sitting around in my apartment all day and when i try to account for  what i did for the day, often have a hard time recalling.

it's funny that you mentioned that your left ear is blocked.  i have had to go into the doctors to get earwax removed from my ears several times now the past few years.  Before i quit the pills, it was every few years maybe, now it seems to be every 4-5 months my ears get clogged up with earwax.  i don't know why that is.

Court committed to take Prozac, Paxci, and Respiradol from 8/95 to 3/96.   developed severe akithisia and brain damage.  Was unable to speak and walking in circles 15 hours a day.  Went in for 5 sessions of ECT during a 10 day period in March of '96 and my forced medication was discontinued at that time.  My akithisia and brain damage cleared up within a few days of stopping the meds.

On Zoloft (200 mg) and Zyprexa (17.5 mg) March 1998- Feb 2014

In between was placed on Effexor 200 mg and Abilify for six months in 2004.  Developed mild akithisia which went away once I stopped the Abilify.  Developed severe GI issues in Dec 2001 and from that time on suffered from fatigue and hypersomnia where I would sleep between 12 and 20 hours a day and rarely ever left my apartment.

Had tapered to 100 mg of Zoloft and 7.5 mg of Zyprexa at the time of going cold turkey Feb. 2014

Went 5 days without sleep at the beginning while vomiting all over my apt.  Had brain zaps for a number of weeks and also lightheadedness which both eventually went away.  However 2 1/2 yrs later I still struggle with insomnia, depression, and fatigue.

The inconsistent dosing of the benzo is probably causing other problems. Please keep daily notes on paper about your symptoms, when you take your drugs and their dosages. (This must be, like, the 8th request.) We need to know when and how much lorazepam or any other benzo you might take.

We're about changing one drug at a time. You'll have to hang in to report what 175mg Zoloft does.

Ask your doctor for liquid Zoloft because you think 200mg is too strong for you and you want to reduce it slowly.

Read this Tips for tapering off Zoloft (sertraline)

How do you talk to a doctor about tapering and withdrawal?

What should I expect from my doctor about withdrawal symptoms?

before asking any other questions. You need to take responsibility for your medical care.

This is an example of what Alto has requested:

Keep notes on paper about your drug dosages and daily symptom pattern

A symptom pattern that occurs regularly over several days could mean the symptoms are from withdrawal, other adverse effects of drugs, or something else you do on a daily schedule.

In the course of discussion in your Introductions forum topic, you may be asked to keep notes on paper of your daily symptom pattern, including when you take your drugs, their dosages, and any symptoms.

What we need to see for every individual day over several days is:

- Time and dosage for drugs taken in morning
- Time and description of any symptoms in the morning

- Time and dosage for drugs taken in afternoon
- Time and description of any symptoms in the afternoon

- Time and dosage for drugs taken in evening
- Time and description of any symptoms in the evening

- Time and dosage for drugs taken in middle of the night
- Time and description of any symptoms in the middle of the night (such as waking)

And so forth. A diary, in chronological order, such as:

6 a.m. Woke and vomited
8 a.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro
10 a.m. Had diarrhea
10:30 a.m. Ate breakfast
11:35 a.m. Got a headache, lasted one hour
12:35 p.m. Ate lunch
4 p.m. Stomachache
5 p.m. Took 2.5mg Lexapro
6 p.m. Ate dinner
9:20 p.m. Headache
10:00 p.m. Took 50mg Seroquel
10:20 p.m. Headache got worse
10:30 p.m. Fell asleep
2:30 a.m. Woke, took 3mg Ambien (NOT "took 1/2 tablet Ambien")
2:45 a.m. Fell asleep
4:30 a.m. Woke with headache

An appointments diary is perfect for this and can be bought at stationery stores.

They have a page for each day with times for appointments which can be filled in with doses, symptoms etc as shown by Alto.

deejay, see your drug interactions report below. If I were you, I would subtract another 25mg from your Zoloft dose as soon as possible and stop taking mirtazapine.

You may get withdrawal symptoms from this, but your adverse reactions justify it.

Did you stop alpazolam cold turkey?

How often do you take lorazepam? That's not in your daily notes for Monday 11th June 2018.

IMPORTANT: Here is the report for 4 of your drugs from the Drug Interactions Checker https://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.php

https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=1488-0,1640-0,1979-2549,2057-1348

Interactions between your drugs

Major

sertraline mirtazapine

Applies to: Zoloft (sertraline), mirtazapine

Using sertraline together with mirtazapine can increase the risk of a rare but serious condition called the serotonin syndrome, which may include symptoms such as confusion, hallucination, seizure, extreme changes in blood pressure, increased heart rate, fever, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, blurred vision, muscle spasm or stiffness, tremor, incoordination, stomach cramp, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Severe cases may result in coma and even death. You should seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms while taking the medications. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Switch to professional interaction data

Moderate

lorazepam sertraline

Applies to: lorazepam, Zoloft (sertraline)

Using LORazepam together with sertraline may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Also avoid activities requiring mental alertness such as driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. lorazepam quetiapine

Applies to: lorazepam, Seroquel XR (quetiapine)

Before using LORazepam, tell your doctor if you also use QUEtiapine. This combination may cause excessive sedation, confusion, dizziness, or lack of coordination. If you take both medications together, tell your doctor if you have any of these symptoms. You may need a dose adjustment if you take both medications. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

Moderate

sertraline quetiapine

Applies to: Zoloft (sertraline), Seroquel XR (quetiapine)

Using QUEtiapine together with sertraline can increase the risk of an irregular heart rhythm that may be serious and potentially life-threatening, although it is a rare side effect. You may be more susceptible if you have a heart condition called congenital long QT syndrome, other cardiac diseases, conduction abnormalities, or electrolyte disturbances (for example, magnesium or potassium loss due to severe or prolonged diarrhea or vomiting). Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor may already be aware of the risks, but has determined that this is the best course of treatment for you and has taken appropriate precautions and is monitoring you closely for any potential complications. You should seek immediate medical attention if you develop sudden dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath, or heart palpitations during treatment with these medications, whether together or alone. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.

When you feel better, you should file a complaint against the doctor who prescribed all these drugs for you. If you've been to the hospital and they didn't see the drug interactions, you should file a complaint against them, too.
