Questions for those who have had success

Recommended Posts

Hi @Liamb123456. I had a pretty rough time at 12 and 13 months. Long, hard waves.

I am at 15 months out and doing better. Although a lot of my symptoms have gone or gotten milder, I am still pretty far from myself. But I am able to workout every day, I work part time and I took a trip in August and I am getting ready to go on another one.

I am staying positive and trying to maintain normal days and quality to each day.

Stay strong and find blessings.

Hugs

@gentlehermione I am 13 months off and have hit a pretty bad wave that started last Wednesday. Other than a few hour window on July 4th, it has been ongoing symptoms.

I understand when you say you have pronounced dizziness and anxiety. I was doing better as well and then these past few waves have been really tough. Its almost like ive gone back to the beginning, only not quite as intense.

The only thing we can do is push forward and live each day to the fullest we can with these symptoms. No matter what, we can find a few things that are positives in each day and focus on those.

Yes, may God give us strength. I pray for that each and every day. I will add you to my prayer list and one day we will be healed and we will have put this journey behind us.

Hey I see you got bad wave at 13 months out was any insomnia at that stage I'm starting to get 13 months thinking it's a wave

Hi @Liamb123456 I have had problems with sleep and insomnia this entire journey. Odd dreams, short bouts of sleep. Maybe 4 hours a night. A good night would be about 5 straight hours. Trouble falling asleep, even though I am exhausted. However, it is improving, but like everything else with this recover...very, VERY slowly. Hang in there friend.

Hi @Liamb123456 You are welcome to ask as many questions as you want and I will be happy to answer them the best I can.

I really didn't have any suicidal thoughts at all through this journey. I had some dark days when I felt really sad and I felt nervous that some peoples minds do go there. I thought, "could that happen to me"?  I did not have any depression or anxiety prior to going on the med 8 years ago. I was put on it for moodiness associated with PMS.

Stay strong and remain faithful friend.

You have to keep in mind that the brains receptors are all confused and not making connections they once were. You are healing and you have to keep telling yourself that, that is what this is. It is neuro emotions and not true emotions. All fake. Do not let it fool you. Distract yourself into doing something positive.

Hi @Miracle123. I am 16 months into this journey. I had a pretty tough time at 13 and 14 months out. Just this past month, I am seeing pretty good improvement. While I am not back to my normal self, I am heading in that direction and you are too. All of the waves are healing. I believe it is the body rebalancing and that takes a long time and it goes really slowly.

Prayers to you.

I find it difficult to distract myself from distressing thoughts as well.  What I have been doing that helps is socializing whether I feel like it or not; walking, especially in the sunshine; watching comedies on television; avoiding and deleting upsetting facebook posts and topics; avoiding negative people as much as I can (not always possible, but I can limit time I spend with them); reading helpful books, like Full Catastrophe Living (this is the current one; I've read tons). I try to read fiction, but only the classics please me.  I go on facebook pages about things I used to enjoy.  Here is one thing I am trying lately that someone suggested (I think it may be mindfulness, not sure): When a thought comes into my head that is upsetting, I consider it, decide whether or not it helps me, then reject it if it doesn't.  Repeat a few times, then give up and plant mums.  I actually don't come on this site as much as I used to because I try not to give as much attention to my symptoms as I used to--even when they are actively bothering me.  I often tell myself that this may be as good as I get, but it is so much better than last year.  Oh, almost forget, I meditate.

I registered on this forum yesterday, was a tip from you that I have read on dokter.nl, I am grateful for that.

If you go through a long, deep valley and you commit yourself to saving others, I think you are a class.

Unbelievable phenomenon this medicine and good, except some very beloved ones, do not explain that 1,2,3 for your environment.

You have to be deep within yourself to understand it.

I was wondering if anyone with a success story had anhedonia even before WD and if it went away sometime along the taper or anytime after reaching 0.  I'm tired of feeling no inspiration from anything and am hoping this will go away as I continue to taper.

Thanks so much!

1994-2009 benzos from age 20 to 36.  Added Cymbalta 60mg in 2007.

2008-2009 tapered benzos to zero and quit Cymbalta Cold turkey.  WD HELL for two years

2011 started on Lexapro to combat the withdrawal and it worked.

2015 switched to Prozac as Lexapro was not working as well

2017 quit Prozac cold turkey November and crashed into WD.  Reinstated Prozac In December with no benefit.

2018 Switched back to Lexapro in January and it took most of the issues away in around 2-3 weeks

2019 In February Lexapro has pooped out and WD feelings back.  Tolerance WD I'm sure.

March 12th Upped my dose to 30 mgs per doctor's advice to see if Tolerance WD goes away but have had worsening sleep issues with limbs jerking and less sleep.

March 17th dropped back down to 20 mgs and had less limb jerking last night but sleep no better.

           April 20th cut to 18mg.

Hi Randy, I came across this information, I thought it might interest you-Anhedonia is a core symptom of depression, but not everyone who’s depressed experiences anhedonia. Prescription medication, especially medications like antidepressants and antipsychotics used to treat depression, can cause anhedonia.-Healthline.com   If you visit this site they have more info. Also please note that I'm 8 months Antidepressant free after 11 years & Benzo free after 7 years , and I was in Tolerance Withdrawal for years & didn't know it-I stopped creating art & know I'm back & feel better & more creative everyday, as well enjoying physical pleasures if you will for the 1st time in years  Hope this helps- Take care I hold on you will heal!

thank you so much for this info.  I'm really glad to hear you're feeling better.  I'm an artist and have no desire to create anything for a very long time.  I just haven't felt interested in anything or present in my own thoughts.
