Asta, you may have reduced trazodone too much. You might want to take 70mg.

Why did you decide you want to reduce it now?

My tablets are150mg.no other dosage. 50mg.is easy to divide, but difficult to divide to smaller dosage. I divide, but I'm not sure if it divides equally. We don't have liquid form in my country and tablets dont melt in a water. I wasn't  feeling to bad lately  so I decided slowly cut dosage of trazadone. Maybe this medication has something to do with me feeling so bad. I need to find the way to stop using this poisoning tablets .I spoke with my doctor and told her that I want to cut dosage, she advised  to cut 25mg. Every four weeks .this is same doctor  which cut down rscitalopram to half dosage. I told her that I'm feeling very bad and that i should cut down gradually but shy said that im cutting down to slowly. She called me next day and advise cut dosage to 12,5mg every three weeks. She also said that im the only one who cuts dosage so slowly. I think that my doctor don't understand my situation and looks at me strange. It makes very difficult for me because I can't found any one to talk about or ask for advice.i feel like if I try to ask for help of my doctor its gona make more harm.

Yes, we know it can be hard to cut the tablets properly. Still, if you go too fast, you might have problems.

See Tips for tapering off trazodone (Desyrel)

Most doctors don't know anything about tapering or withdrawal. If I were you, I'd taper at a rate that feels right for you.

SA recommends holding after a dose reduction for at least 4 weeks.  I'm not sure when you reduced from 75mg to 67mg.

Please update your drug signature with the date and dose of 67mg so we can see it at a glance.  Please update it whenever you make a change.  Thank you.  Account Settings – Create or Edit a signature

Asta, we need to know what time of day you have symptoms like "I feel cold and  got a high fever". Please start posting those daily notes again.

If I were you, I would stay at 67mg trazodone for a month. Has your symptom pattern changed since you reduced it?

I felt much better at reducing trazadone two weeks ago. Symptoms got worse after a few days when I was reduced to trazadone. But they are much softer than before. Only previously there was no temperature, now stronger flu symptoms. I just do not know if I'm sick, whether it's W/D.

It doesn't sound like flu. Please hold on reducing the trazodone, symptoms should gradually go away.

Probably like every one here I'm regretting that I started take this medication. I know that is bad,but I'm finding hard to except that I can't control my symptoms. I only can control my situation by my thoughts and fear its not always working, but I'm trying. The most worrying thing is anxiety its horrible feeling inside. Maybe because I stopped taking escitalopram,my anxiety was on the scale 20 out of 10. I'm seriously was thinking that im gona go crazy or I will lose my mind. Also I was afraid to go out,but I did. I'm glad that Im still working, but I have no idea how i manage to get there and achieve good results. I have day's,hours, and minutes that I'm thinking that I can't take it any more, but I understand that probably most of us have thoughts like this, and we still have to get up and go...all my life I always trusted my inner feeling, and it never failed.

I didint wanted to take this medication but this time I trusted a doctor not my feelings.,I trusted her to much. Like I wrote before after my surgery I started experience headache they where really bad and I was very weak. (I thought its normal after the surgery)I never had any health or physiological problems,I just lived a happy life. But one day I had a dark cloud over my had and changed everything. I already was feeling bad bifore  I started to take this medication my doctor advised to go to hospital, take large dose of this medication. I didint go to hospital or increase dosage of this medication. Doctor was not very happy with me because I didn't listen to her,I even had expensive test which showed that because of my metabolism I can take smaller dosage of escitalopram than standard but she ignored it. When I became very unwell from standard dosage insted of telling me to reduce she told me to increase dosage. I thought they haven't got any clue how to deal with this poison.

Because I started to have only 1 hour of night sleep she prescribed me trazadone, even if I should just cut on escitalopram, there is no logic in treatment like this. She kept repeating than no one has symptoms like this and il will pass.i didn't stop taking medication because my doctor said its  very important take them for 6 months. Before I started take this medication I specifically asked her several times if I'm not gona have problems with stopping take them, she said no.she said I might feel thirsty, funny isint it?yes my headache stopped, but that headache is nothing to compare with the nightmare that im going through now.

When I became very I'll after stopping take this medication my doctor didint know what to do and  advice my to take sedatives, and told my increase trazadone dosage. And then she told me that my illness came back. Really???but I clearly remember why this medication was prescribed in the first place. Some times I have dark moments and I feel scared that its never gona end,and than I keep telling me self that everyone is getting through that and I will.its very sad  that we have to go all this through, and other's don't know anything about this bifore they start taking it. Is it legal, really?this medication can make some one healthy become very I'll.

One day...
Calm and peace.

Yes, most people here are angry that they can't rely on their doctors.

Those are very good notes. Looks to me like you're doing well with the trazodone decrease. Do you feel better, worse, or the same since you reduced to 67mg?

@Altostrata

From September 22nd.- October 8th. I really felt okay except for one day when I went to the hospital due to a headache. October 8th. I reduced the dose and after a few days I felt worse. I felt more unsettled, anxious, and emotionally unstable, but I think these symptoms were less severe than they were before September 22nd. I can't split the tablet into equal parts, because it crumbles. I bought a scale, but it doesn't seem to measure very accurately. The store clerk said if I want a scale that can measure such small weight changes accurately I need a laboratory quality scale. If I'm so sensitive to every little crumb then it is not good for the amount to costantly fluctuate in my body. Maybe that is contributing to the bad symptoms I've been having.

What did the hospital do for your headache?

As you are sensitive to dosage changes, inconsistent dosing can cause problems. You can make a liquid of the trazodone, to taper it, with an oral syringe. This is a good way to taper. Many people here have done this, see Tips for tapering off trazodone (Desyrel)

You might return the scale to the store for a refund.

@Altostrata

In hospital I had  MRA scan and a drip with magnesium and not strong pain killers. They said is migraine.Headaches where very strange and strong, neck became very stiff and I felt pressure in my eye, sinuses, throw up. When pain lasted for 5 hours I went to hospital.

Trazadone tablets is not dissolving in the water, we dont have a liquid form of this medication in my country unless I can send from another country. I don't think I'm dividing tablet equally because she crumble.

Be sure to read this Tips for tapering off trazodone (Desyrel)

You may need to crush the tablet first.

Many people do better with fish oil and magnesium supplements, see http://survivingantidepressants.org/index.php?/topic/36-king-of-supplements-omega-3-fatty-acids-fish-oil/
http://survivingantidepressants.org/topic/15483-magnesium-natures-calcium-channel-blocker/

A lot of people find them helpful. The magnesium might keep headaches away. Try a little bit of one at a time to see how it affects you.

Hi Asta,

It appears that your sleep might be improving.  I noticed in your previous notes it was much less for a few days there.

Have you considered magnesium at all.  Here's the link on that again:  Magnesium, nature's calcium channel blocker

That really might help with some of the symptoms that you report.  No further headaches?

And then how are you coming along working with accuracy with your dosing?

Have you considered liquifying your dose in the future?  Or asking about getting a script for the liquid Trazodone.  Because then, once you reach a nice plateau of W/D normal......when you make your next taper you would have a bit more control over the accuracy of your dose.

Unfortunately......you may do better with this process now, if you take what you have learned or are learning.....and manage differently than how your prescriber suggests.  Don't let him/her get to you.  Can you contact a pharmacy on your own to see what they might supply and what the cost of that might be?  I'm sorry I'm not more informed as to health care and management in England/U.K.

Keep in mind too, that if/when you make a transition to dosing with liquid.......you will need to treat that like a dose change too and do it gradually.  We often recommend having you stay at your present dose while making the transition.

And then doing:

1/4 of your total dose with liquid  3/4 of your total dose with tablet

Hold for 3 days

Then:  1/2 total dose with liquid  1/2 total dose with tablet

Hold for another 3 days

Then:  3/4 dose with liquid  1/4 dose tablet

Hold for another 3 days

Then: on to your total dose in liquid

Hold for a bit before the next taper down.

I know you'd like to go faster, and may be of the mind that faster will pay off somehow, but from what I've seen that is so often not the case.

If I were you......I would work real hard now on your non-drug coping skills.......and wait a couple more weeks and just HOLD with your present dose.

Meantime start looking into how to accurately measure, and do your dosing from here on down.

Go to the link on tips for tapering Trazodone and try to make a decision about what you would like to do going forward.

How was your trip/travel?  Didn't you take off somewhere nice not too long ago?  And how are you functioning as compared to, say last February?

Best,

Love, peace, healing, and growth,

mmt

Hi, @manymoretodays

I'm was using magnesium for a two week's. I will start taking him again. I don't have any headache any more. I am pretty sure I am not diving tablet to equally dosage .I read the link about cutting down on trazadone ,I could miss understand something because of lack of my English. Scales is not good for this purpose ,they not precise. I tried to grind and dissolve tablets but think it's not dissolving. Like I mentioned bifore in my country we don't have liquid form of this medication but I can try to get from another country if that's gona be possible.

@Altostrata

I can't believe it they are selling it freely without a prescription in Italy Trazadone.
Can I take a dose part as a pill and other part as a liquid? Is there not gonna be a problem if I switch a part off medicine to liquid?  Is there going to be extra more symptoms because of switching?
