Funny this....

I had flu and i have had the exact same issues. Crying, really low and anxious.

Strange......

These meds are from the devil.

Now, I'm having issues with sleep. Just two hours. Then, if not low mood, Its the nausea, or abdominal cramps.

Same here. I had my final dose on July 14.

around mid November i was ok. the symptoms were waning.Though as soon i had issues at work, and having the flu this horrible wave hit me. I'm thinking that I have some horrible disease since some of these symptoms began to occur when the med began to slowly poop on me. Though, I look back at Dr. Glenmullen's checklist and I've had most of these symptoms. I'm hoping they go away.

My symptoms

nausea

stomach aches that shift from one place to another. Push on the area were it ached nothing.

Depression

Lack of interest

hopelessness

crying spells

burping and belching

Oh God. I know. The last two days I've been able to sleep two hours tops. Since I'm hyper aware of every moment in body to the extent i feel the muscle movements when I eat that it freaks me out. Plus the other gi symptoms and depression aren't helping.

I agree. When I had the constant headaches, I was thinking that I had a brain tumor. Now, with the headaches gone and now the GI symptoms, I think that I have some GI cancer. I read your thread, and @ChessieCat posted that all of these withdrawal symptoms are only our nervous system rebuilding itself. Several of these symptoms  such as nausea. knot in my throat, weird aches on my stomach that suddenly shut down, for several minutes to hours then come back.  I'm holding to that dearly since the med began to poop on me last year and all of these symptoms slowly began to creep back in, and once I stopped taking the medication, all the symptoms unloaded on me.

I force myself to think that, though I have to be honest, the symptoms are scary as hell.

My mom is doing the impossible to make me see that, since I keep pocking and prodding my stomach and my mom says I'm going to hurt myself if I keep doing that.

Let's see what happens, man. :)

The withdrawal symptoms are scary but yes if you have healrh anxiety it won't help think of it this way if everyone else on here is going through withdrawal and not seriously ill with something and have the same symptons as you what makes you think you are any different to them

I agree. I went to the GI symptoms section and notice many people with stomach aches, heartburn, burping. Though, what freaks me out are the aches or weird sensations that occur when eat at the pit of my stomach. Though, don't occur in the middle of the esophagus, though next to it, ...I'm going down a rabbit hole....

When I began my withdrawals I had similar symptoms  Nausea, I had the sensations and having a hard time swallowing since I felt muscle tightness on top of my throat. Though, after August those symptoms went away.

It didn't help that my dad got sick and those symptoms switched to heartburn after September. Now in November. I thought, they were done. That went away. Now, it seems with what @Leo1983 mentioned, the flu threw both of our nervous systems into a whirlwind and inflamed my body, and brought back these symptoms though in different areas of the body.

I'm just rambling. I'm crossing my fingers its just one horrible wave, and I get better as the weeks go by.

You're right.

I just had my aha moment. I remembered that I had these exact symptoms though on-top of my throat when I went cold turkey in July like I mentioned before. Exact symptoms:

Off weird/Ache sensation when I would eat on the top of the throat going down to my stomach

nausea or suddenly stop like nothing, then I would want to go for second or third helpings.

Though, now instead of being on top of my throat, now its on the bottom of my esophagus, and symptoms spreading across my diaphragm which would make sense since I'm feeling sensations across that entire area. The original symptoms faded away in mid September.

So, sadly this might take the same time frame for it to go away. :( Oh well. I at least, I realize what it is, and not. Plus I had blood work during that time, and nothing was found.

I'll just shake my fist at the flu for screwing up my recovery.

Went to my psychologist and didn't believe I was still in withdrawals and mentioned my GI symptoms are more anxiety based.  Noticed when he asked me about what I wanted to do in the future, my symptoms got worse, and somewhat calmed down after I left his office.

Its uncertainty about the future alot of us feel like this cbt teaches you its just a thought its the meaning we give to that thought and how we behave towards the thought you have to start problem solving your thoughts and then challenge them ....im smiling to myself now as all my friends say im goodat giving advice but not taking it i am going through all the fears most people on here are going through but i still like to try and help people...have listened to a meditation tape trying to calm myself down😊

Update

Just to make sure this is just withdrawal symptoms, I went to see my primary. I described to her all my symptoms and highly suspects its my anxiety flaring up on me. Once again, she had to calm me down or not even mention symptoms of other illnesses of the gut due to my health anxiety.  Even though, she suspects this is my anxiety flaring up she ordered a breath H. Plyori test. Crossing my fingers it comes out negative. Then, I truly know its the withdrawals that are causing these symptoms.

It is anxiety and withdrawal the withdrawal amplifies your anxiety im sure it will be negative ...i know its easier said than done but you need to learn some relaxation techniques...i dont have it now but i suffered health anxiety and thoughti was dying all the time but im still here and realise how much i wasted my life worrying about nothing ...you say to yourself whats the worst that could happen ..most times its im going to die then say to yourself how many times have i died

@Happy2Heal I just read over your post @Leo1983 thread and that somewhat brought some solace to my present predicament. A few weeks back I thought I was 80% back though, it seems that it was a nice window since I got hit with the flu and flurry of symptoms: off balance sensation, insomnia, anxiety, vivid dreams, restless legs, akathesia, though what scares me its G.I. symptoms ( stabbing pains though when tried to push to reproduce the pain nothing happens, burping, nausea, feeling like I need to poo)  came in full force. I'm scared that I might have something worse. The funny thing that caught is that these aches have been shifting around my abdomen which collaborates my psychologist and MD's suspicions that its my anxiety causing these symptoms though me being a hypochondriac its doesn't help. My MD ordered a H.Plyori test to make sure nothing was off organically.

As you see in my signature, I C/T in Mid July. So, like you told Leo, its peanuts, and its going to be a long road towards recovery.

Though, as you mentioned to Leo these symptoms could be just my nerves readjusting to what my brain is telling them to do without the medication.

I asked my brother since he used recreational substances , and mentioned it took him a year for the symptoms to finally calm down for him. I'm hoping the same with mines. Though, to be frank I'm pulling my hair due to this since I'm having vivid of nightmares of me dying to some horrible 'c'

Sounds like mines. It began on to the upper right side of my abdomen, then shifted between the sternum, then the middle, then shifts back to left and right obliques. Have the odd nauseas feeling, then use the loo.

I was already diagnosed with Anxiety induced IBS in 2015. So, at first I was thinking oh its just my IBS. Though, the sharp aches scare the crap out of me.

I need to force myself to remember that I was having constant stabbing headaches and neck aches from May to late mid November. In between that, heartburn/stomach ache events though not as intense as this. Now, the headaches mostly gave way to this. Knowing that's there a ton of serotonin receptors in my gut, I'm hoping its just that readjusting themselves.

I'm sorry you are having vivid nightmares and awful symptoms, it's so rough to go thru, I know!!

you will get better, no worries there, it just takes time, and that can be very frustrating

but you can use this time to work on things like self soothing and using other tools to deal with emotions, anxiety etc

It won't change the course or duration of your healing, most likely, but it's something else to focus on and it may help make each day more bearable.

yes your brain is readjusting, and those changes it's making don't feel too good. they can be pretty scary too, but it does mean you're brain is doing what it needs to do to heal. so that's good, even though it feels bad.

we tend to think if something feels bad, it must *be* bad, but that's not always true. It's definitely not the case in recovery from these drugs!

it sounds you like had a very nice window, that's great!! you can expect to have more of those as you heal and recover. :)

when they happen and how long they last can be unpredictable so it's a bumpy ride, hold on tight!!

however,  you have done great to get to where you are now, you are going to get thru this just fine ;)

you already have the acceptance part down pretty well!

it's hard to accept this process, it's so frustrating and takes way longer than any of us could ever have predicted, but we get thru it one day at a time

right?

that's all we can do, get thru each day or each moment, when things are tough

you will come out of this knowing you are so much stronger than you ever knew!

wishing you all the best as you recover

Update

I haven't received the results from the breath test.

Though, I had a royal health anxiety melt-down and I went to ER. I described to them some of my symptoms...electric shock like sensation, and shifting pains. They didn't check my stomach, though did a total blood panel and ultrasound of my liver, gall-bladder, kidneys, and pancreas since my aches are mostly situated on the right side of the abdomen or sometimes in the middle of my abdomen.  I was freaking out that my stomach was on the right, though the MD told me, its situated on the left of my abdomen. I just rolled my eyes in total embarrassment.  The MD was impressed by my organs. Blood work came clear. So, if its acid reflux just take TUMS.

I know myself, and its going to take a lot of me not to ask for an endoscopy, and possibly accept this is just a new withdrawal/anxiety symptom.

Hi manny,

Just read about all the symptoms you’re having. I’m so sorry. I see you get a lot of crying spells. This journey is definitely hard, but we will get there in the end. I know it doesn’t feel like it but it will happen one day. Knowing that doesn’t make it any easier now though, I know. I’m sorry you’re in so much pain.

I just wanted to say if your therapist doesn’t believe in withdrawals, why are you still going there? You really need to find another therapist. If you don’t you will just get triggered every time you go there and he/she tells you it’s just anxiety or whatever. You don’t need to put up with that. I wouldn’t.

Take care, sending sunshine your way☀️☀️☀️

thanks for the response! I'll take that sunshine. Truly need it.

My insurance is horrible. It doesn't lend itself to have flexibility of me picking the providers that I want to see. I feel horrible that my symptoms easily get dismissed as anxiety.

at the moment, some of the symptoms have calm down. Still have the burping, the Knott on my throat. Though, this symptom creeps me out, an odd ache that occurs as soon as I wake up. within a few seconds after I wake up it occurs next to my esophagus in the middle of my chest area were the diaphragm lies. Then, throughout the day, the symptom repeats itself in the same area or shifts to the right were my obliques area or to the left when I eat. I press on the areas to reproduce the pain/sensation, nothing. I notice when I want to laugh, or emote an emotion i can't since it aches that area. Feels just like it did a few months that I couldn't emote since I would get one hellish headache. I thought the abdominal ultrasound would find something, everything came clear. If there were a tumor the blood work would of showed my white blood cells being in of whack, though that came back fine.  I suspect it's my muscles and nerves misfiring due to what Leo mentioned of the body parts being inflamed after going through the flu, and making the withdrawal symptoms worse. I see that in Dr. Glenmullen's list mentions odd electric shock sensations, muscle stiffness and twitches.  That's the closest symptom this matches to.

Depression has settled down. Though, not the anxiety, last night I had shortness of breath almost like I was about to have a panic attack.  I still keep waking up at night. Then, have the odd aches on my stomach, or knot in my throat. Then, I go sleep, wake up again, like nothing happened. Then, my stomach begins to ache again. I press the area were its aching...nothing. I eat something, there done. No aches or weird issues. Though, I do have to admit the GI symptoms are settling down, though I mostly experience them during the morning. Seems like I've gained a fear of laying down and sleeping since that's going to cause my stomach issues which is so weird. You would think I'd be ok after MD did bloodwork and ultrasound and discarded any issues with those organs. God, I hate these withdrawals.

Depression anxiety lethergy.

My only symptoms.

They go im happy. All other symptoms gone.

You sound like you had an original condition health anxiety and you must expect that to return if you had it before the drugs.

Apart from that you sound fairly good. That Virus turned me upside down.

I was diagnosed with IBS, and Health Anxiety before taking any meds which went away when medicated. Though, it doesn't cause the GI symptoms I'm having at the moment. So, I chalk it to the withdrawals. Though, at this moment as write you. I don't have symptoms which is so weird. If had a medical condition, it wouldn't just stop and restart.

Update

Well...I had crying spells so the depression hasn't left, sorry to disappoint Leo. During the daytime my G.I. symptoms are almost gone, like there's nothing there besides some burping and odd sensation around my diaphragm. Though, a new symptom has cropped up, its a burning like sensation on my nostrils when I bend my head down. Totally random. And I know I've never suffered from my sinuses or nostrils. So, yea its withdrawals.
