Update

Went with the specialist. Told them what happened, and they highly suspect my symptoms are from how I quit the medication since most of the serotonin is in the gut, and once that cut out, it set my gut off. They did another rectal check, and no blood was found which was great, though found my gut to be a bit tight which shocked the Dr.

With my age (34) and no family history of colon cancer, they don't suspect it, though just to make sure I was given an appointment for a Colonoscopy on August 6th. @RusTW

However, once if I'm given the all clear, then I need to go get help via therapy to calm my anxiety.

With my GI symptoms I've noticed that most of the time I'm having somewhat of flatten stools, then other times almost normal round movements. It looks like my gut is tighten. Noticed this ever since I stopped the med since before I had normal movements. Seems the W/Ds screwed up with my gut.

Besides that, the emotional symptoms come and go. Though, when they do come its either severe rage, or utter sadness were I spend four hours straight crying.

I have the same thing in stool flaten.

Good to hear u took a normal dump.Im praying for just  the same.

After that appointment your anxiety should lessen. Just knowing that we're dealing with withdraws from  drugs that can also damage your GI system. Since I've been detoxing I've had a lot of pain in my liver and they did an ultrasound and suggested cirrhosis. Which is weird because I never abused drugs or alcohol. So for about a week I thought I was done for. They did it CT scan and found nothing.

It's really hard to believe that these drugs can mess your digestive system up this bad. The downside of that is that bad bacteria will invade as soon as you get weak. That's what happened to me.

I know. Even the specialist asked me why did I cold turkey since they have to be reduced slowly. I told her how violent I was getting. She wasn't happy with what she heard. Though, assured me its probably going to be IBS or side effect of the W/Ds.  What I'm at peace with, she didn't throw that whole W/D only lasts a few days. I told her what happened at the start, that's when she quickly pinpointed the problem. However, to make sure since I did bleed, to do the colonoscopy. Though, she was shocked to find the bottom half of my colon shut closed when she did the rectal blood test.

I"m going to be a nervous wreck for more than a month. Though, lets see what happens. BTW, I'm not going to take any drugs. I"m going sedative free with the colonoscopy.

TMI though some will have a great laugh. First time since I was taking my A/D that I finally had a large round normal movement.

Ever since I had stopped taking my med, my movements were 'narrowing'. Now suddenly, afer a year there back to 'normal'.

Besides that, I've had more emotional symptoms like feeling off when I'm around people. Last night, I went to purchase take out for my parents. The Mexican food place was packed. I felt like I was back to the world since people noticed me. That's when the thoughts or voices began to taunt me, telling me don't bother trying to associate with anyone since I'm going to die, and I began to lip quietly to shut up several time, I put both of my hands on my head when several people around noticed I was doing that, and quickly I pretended that I had a headache.  So, some symptoms sadly are still there. :(

Manny, this sounds like something a therapist can help you with. CBT might be helpful.

Good to hear you're getting treatment for the gut problems. Is the gastroenterologist familiar with drug-free colonoscopies?

With the g.i. they're sending me to a hospital to do the colonoscopy, though they're pushing me to do the sedation, though came across that several people who've done them without the sedation, and weren't as bad as some have said. I hate being under sedation. Saves me time and $$$$

With the therapist that was the recommendation the g.i. specialist gave me actually. She told me how most of the serotonin is in the gut, and if my issues are anxiety related once I'm able to calm my mind, the g.i. will calm itself down. (I hope its just that, or some lingering effect of the cold turkey which she also suspects could be the culprit for my symptoms and not some scary cancer)

I had a colonoscopy without sedation, it wasn't any more uncomfortable than a sigmoidoscopy, and I'm a small woman, the population who's supposed to have the most difficulty with a colonoscopy. I just slow-breathed through the procedure. Actually, since I could see the monitor, I had an interesting conversation with the doctor and her assistant.

Be sure to work with a doctor who's done colonoscopies without sedation before.

I'm going to call the office or the hospital next week and see if they have specialists who've done the procedure without sedation.

I'm kinda of a chatter box, so I won't be surprised if that should also happen with me when the procedure is done. :)

Update

Just called the hospital doing the colonoscopy regarding doing it without sedation. They told me, it can be done. Just need to tell them the day I arrive. However, they did push me do the sedation and even offer having a taxi send me home.

Seems they want that $$$ from the insurance. Having read most out of the US are done without them, mean as well do it like everyone else. Plus, like I've mentioned before I don't want to be sedated after the horrible experience I had with the A/D, and knowing I had an interaction with a cold medication last December (2018) which led to my G.I. flare up that I'm at the moment.

Update

Today is the first day a year go I stopped taking my medication.

It's been a hellish journey.

At the moment, lingering symptoms that are left are my G.I, weird electrical sharp pains on my quads or feet, and intrusive thoughts.

I have to say ever since I went to the specialist, my G.I. symptoms have drastically improved. So, its seems the Anxiety was just ramping up my symptoms. I still have them, though If I put them in a number scale from 1 to 10, its at a 1 to 3 were before, it was at a 7 or 8. Though, sadly I'm still sensitive with certain foods. However, overtime I've been able to start eating certain foods that I became sensitive before. So, it seems  time is the key. In three weeks, I'll have my colonoscopy and I cross my fingers I get a clean bill of health to move on.

Also, I'm able to sleep six hours non-stop. Also, take day naps. :)

I'm even able to workout once again.  Though, not to push my body hard, I"m going at it slowly.

Even though with my food sensitivities, these withdrawals made me mad hungry and I gained 30lbs that now I need to lose.

Let's see what happens in this new year.

Manny that's good news man all of it. That's good you're getting sleep. That's being my hope is that all be able to take a nap soon also. I'm close I drift off 4 seconds but nothing too long.

Seems like you're making good progress.

I got delayed a little bit I had to do that detox but it seems like I'm back on track now and healing my gut to.

Tomorrow I'm going attempt and eat some foods and see if it triggers my G.I. since I've noticed that certain sensitivities have gone away. If it goes well, then I thank my lucky stars since I could start losing weight.

If not, oh well. I'll just let my brain and gut continue to heal itself.  Never thought I'd still be going through this after a year. Though, oh well. Roll with the punches.

I'm glad you're doing better. I think your colonoscopy results will help you understand better what's happening also. Understanding what's happening seems to be pretty crucial especially if you're having intrusive thoughts.

Music seems to help me quite a bit when I have them. I'll just Loop a song for a while until it starts playing in my head and then off I go LOL

How are you doing from your last post presently?

Thanks for stopping by man

That's funny you mention that about trying new foods. Every once in a while I'll do that. It takes about 3 days to register.

When you're having GI symptoms do you ever feel like you're getting mental symptoms also at the same time with a weird feeling in your gut like it's coming from there?

Manny happy late birthday

To be frank, if it weren't the for the G.I. symptoms, the intrusive thoughts, or slight off balance sensation (its a 1.5 out of 10) I feel like I'm almost out of it. That's how drastic the recovery has been ever since  I went to the Specialist.

I try to listen to music, watch movies, listen podcasts to cut myself from the world. Since I hear something bad, I'm around a large group of people, my entire system goes haywire, I become anxious or have fits of rage that triggers my G.I. and brain and from there the intrusive thoughts occur. Hence, I do my best to avoid any stressful situations.

I see that you're a year out in this thing. Mine was at the end of May in 2018 so I'm a year out also. I thought I'd be a lot further than this myself but I have probably expected more than I should have. The good thing is I've had a chance to change my diet and my lifestyle and way of thinking so I feel like I've progressed all around. I think that's what matters in the end.

I was reading a little bit back in one of your post and you were talking about having to be sedated. When I was sedated it was a drug  called Propofol and no benzo. I was worried but when I got home I took a three-hour nap and it felt like I was asleep for a week. There was no After Effects whatsoever only positive

Thanks for the birthday wishes. :)

Yup. Most of the time after three days that's when I discover if my gut has heal itself and I'm able to eat foods that I became sensitive to due to W/Ds. Though, with others its within minutes after finishing a meal I discover if I'm good to go, or have to cut again.

When the G.I. /mental symptoms occur. It's weird. In my case it feels like my mind/brain or external sources are triggering my gut. I'll just give you an idea what's happening now.

For example, today. When I got into the car, turned on the engine, and drove...something in the engine rumble triggered my g.i. with cramps...which is weird...that Kinda goes with the idea it's my nervous system being loco LMAO!

I got to the store. It calm itself down. Then, suddenly I saw a large group of people. Then, it began to occur again. This time it was trapped gas cramps. Then, came across a young mother with two children who has cancer. That's when I had my last cramp, then my G.I. shut off and the mental symptoms began to occur with the intrusive thoughts...though mines are bordering auditory hallucinations (I asked to be tested to see if I had schizophrenia and thankfully I don't have the main symptoms) were my thoughts or voices taunt me telling me that I have cancer, and I'm going to die. That's you in a couple of weeks bald with welts. The thoughts or taunts sound like smirks, shriks, laughs. I literally wanted to scream out loud to my mind to shut up or wish I bashed my head against a window to stop it all. Hence, why I mention these symptoms are scary.

After that, I ate a meal I had some electrical activity in my g.i. when I began to eat, then it went away.

Though, before I went to the Specialist the aches and pains were at a 7-8. Now, its at a 1-3.

I thought also I'd be done with it after a year. though, were still here.

With Sedation, I don't have anyone to take me to the colonoscopy, plus I don't want to be sedated seeing how some Drs mess up. I just want to be done with it, and leave. I hate being in Hospitals. Just get it done and go home.

Well...I don't what to say...

Well after my last post. I thought, I was doing better since my symptoms were going away though like I've previously mentioned one of the W/D symptoms that has been plaging me is being hyper aroused. That symptoms got worse since Mid April  and never stopped. Since I don't have a life partner, I resorted to self pleasuring myself three to five times a day, every day for the last four months straight. Last Thursday, I went to the extreme of doing six to eight times, and after the final time I did it, seems I messed up my genitals since I began to bleed in my urine. Ever since I've been plagued many urilogical symptoms. I've went to the ER and my primary. Both did urinalysis workup on site, besides the blood, they didn't any infections and my kidneys working normally. Both MDs were shocked by how many times I self pleasured and contribute this to what's happening to me. My MD did a blood work order just to see if everything is fine. The hospital did one when I had my bowel episode last month, but to make sure she ordered one of her own. To be frank, I don't believe her or the hospital MDs.

Though in my mind, I begin to think my primary misdiagnosed my IBS, and I actually have bowel cancer that has spread to my kidneys, bladder or prostate.  The Bleeding on pee has been on and off. I bleed Thursday two times, Friday three to four times, and Today three times. Though, after that, nothing. Though, I do have symptoms my primary says that goes along with me irritating/inflaming my area. HAving the W/D symptoms doesn't help either since I have front and back aches, off balance sensations still, though at a less intensity. I knew this was just my W/D going crazy..though now with the genital issues... I feel lost. Though, I have to remember, last December, they did an ultrasound and saw my kidneys were in perfect shape. Christ, never thought these W/D would drive my body to these extremes. :(

My advice would maybe start with leaving it alone....

Distraction is possibly a good choice when the urge starts.

Hope your well other wise m8.

I stopped since last Thursday.

I hope overtime whatever I did, if it's truly just inflaming or irritating my area calms itself down.

The irony is that my bowel symptoms suddenly began to improve. So, I could toss the bowel cancer fears to the side, and not do the colonoscopy...though this urine thing....

Besides the hyper sexual urges, my symptoms from intrusive thoughts to feeling off balanced had dramatically improved almost was going post that I was 80% back though didn't post anything yet since I didn't want to jinx myself. Now, I'm back at square one with a deep depression. I hope it's just another side effect of the w/d and overtime I'm better.

What's happening at the moment. In my mind I'm thinking I have some cancer or my kidneys are failing me while my MD says no. I have trust issues with anyone including Drs. She even warned me about not getting excited since she knows we're my mind goes to.

the depression is w/d type since it's not just the moody type, I go from sudden crying spells to be blaze, then nothing. This was the first harsh w/d I had last August actually. It was a depressive roller coaster ride.

That's why I was dreading in doing the colonoscopy since I would be sedated and a bad wave would occur afterwards. I hope it goes away in time with you, Leo.

Hopefully a quick sedation and some pain relief for 1 week wont put me back to long.

Yup. Health anxiety was the main issue I was put on these antidepressants. Which hey they did help. The body symptoms went away and I was myself.

I agree. I'm traumatized by what's happened with these w/D's that I can't trust a MDs diagnosis. With people in general I have my reasons also, though I can't be doing this anymore since it's going to consume me.
