Rezten: Effexor withdrawal

Recommended Posts

Rezten

I am sleeping about six hours then maybe another hour or so after that in the morning.

The reason I asked about Trazadone was because it was such a big jump I was worried about withdrawals.  There may be some, but I feel just as yucky as I did before I cut it.

If your sleep pattern didn't get worse, looks like you go away with dropping 25mg this time. Yes, you can figure on tapering it 10% in a bit, let yourself stabilize first.

I have read it is better to taper off an AD before Benzo.  I am on 2 Benzo I want to get off of as well but feel getting off Trazadone first is better.  Any suggestions on this?

Tapering off trazodone is what you'd want to do before tapering the benzos. The benzos should be enough for sleep.

I dont take the benzos at night.  I originally started taking them for anxiety (wish I never did) so I always took them during the day.  It will take me years to taper what took only months for my body to get used to. I should not have listened to docs.  But better to do it slow and steady.  I hope my withdrawal symptoms will ease up in the mean time.

Thank you for your help

Why are you taking these drugs on this schedule? Do they make you dopey? What do you mean, "they don't help"?

Please stop tapering the benzos.

I stopped tapering a few weeks ago.  They dont make me dopey, they just dont alleviate my anxiety anymore.

I take them on that schedule because that's how I started taking them to get through daily anxiety

I stopped tapering a few weeks ago.  They don't make me dopey.  I started taking them to alleviate daytime anxiety, but eventually they didn't help and I didn't want to go up in dose, so with dr. Advice I started to taper, but I put that on hold a few weeks ago.

Rezten, do you go to sleep right away after taking your nighttime drugs? How many hours of sleep are you getting each night? Please add the number of hours to your journal.

Do you feel that the 2.5 mg melatonin may still be too high a dose and may be making you feel extra tired in the morning? If so, after you finish moving the Ativan, you may want to make a reduction of the melatonin to 2 mg and see how you do.

It takes me about 30 min to an hour to fall asleep.  I get about 5-6 hours a night plus I usually fall back to sleep in the morning for about an hour.  I will add sleep hours to my journal.

I am not sure if it's too high, but I know when I wake up around 4:a.m. I just feel tired.  When I fall back to sleep and get up again that's when I feel very groggy and heavy.  I can try 2 mg.

Did they stop working a few weeks ago? Is your anxiety worse now than it was a few weeks ago?

I have not noriced relief from the benzos in a few months.  I decided to come off of them because they didnt appear to be helping so I figured I should start tapering.  That was before SA.  My anxiety has improved some in the past few weeks.

Yes.  Just recently split up the dose at Shep's advice.

Your symptom pattern may be due to your benzo dosing. There is no necessity to try Effexor reinstatement at this point. Whether it would work is iffy.

Moderator note: link to benzo forum thread Rezten: Am I tapering slow enough

I am new to this site.  Sox months ago I tapered off 10 years of Effexor.  It has been living hell.  Six months later no meds have worked, I have debilitating depression/anxiety and want to get through this no meds.  I am hoping to hear positive stories that there is hope without meds.

I'm in a similar situation.

Aftet about 7 years on 300mg Effexor I've been left in a chronic state of depression and haven't been able to find anything that works, even with meds...

You were on a pretty low dosage compared to me, you sure it's the cause?
