I was going to wait until Monday, when it was three weeks from last cut, but I'll reduce it tonight.  I guess I misunderstood something in your post.

I am concerned about the brain sensations that I'm having.  I've had issues all along but it seems  more pronounced in the last month but some days are better than others. Is it part of withdrawal symptoms or is it drug interactions.  Do I do a quick taper or continue a slow taper? I'm very nervous.  My therapist recommended a dr. Who supports people coming off medications but does it quickly.  So far my current doctor will support slow taper.

You're taking a benzo several times a day. Diazepam has a half-life of more than 4 days. Whatever diazepam you take today is overlapping with the diazepam you took the past week. Plus the Ativan.

Still not clear what "brain sensations" mean. Disorientation? Confusion? Spinning? Inability to focus?

Do you feel better, worse, or the same since you reduced trazodone?

Up to you whether you want to go off drugs slow or fast. If you go to the doctor for a fast taper, strongly recommend you first find out what this person would do if you got withdrawal symptoms.

The sensations are sometimes a burning feeling in my scalp, or a tightness like pressure.  Some days worse than others.

I feel about the same. Sleep has been the same.  The burning sensation has increased maybe a little, but not sure it's from Trazadone reduction.

I dont want to do a fast taper as I am afraid of further withdrawal symptoms.  I am just getting panicky I guess and want off these drugs as everyone else would like off theirs too.  Not having a good day.  But I want to get off them as safely as possible.

@Altostrata I read that taking magnesium with the diazapam can cause it. Should in stop taking magnesium for now while I taper? I guess I should taper diazapam instead of Ativan first?

If I were you, I'd taper Ativan first. The benzos work together.

Don't understand your question about magnesium. You're taking so much benzo so often, it hardly matters when you take magnesium.

I had seen in one of the links you sent me that magnesium and diazapam could cause burning sensation so I thought maybe it might help for now to not take as much.  I realize the benzos are the real issue.  I see my Pdoc next week and will get a script for liquid Ativan.

  • 1 month later...

It's been just about a year since my last dose of Effexor.  I though i would share what the past year has been like for me. Maybe it's a form of therapy for me to share this, I'm not sure but i felt complled to write.

The first 2-3 months I was fairly functional but lots of anxiety and emotional spirals.  I had to stop working in April, and I had been admitted twice to partial hospitalization programs.  I saw three different doctors as well. Not one would accept I was in protracted withdrawal, they threw one medication after another at me and I didn't know what I didn't know.  I don't remember all of them, some I only took once or twice, they aren't listed in my signature.  I was told I was sensitive to medications, I was looking for the perfect pill, I wasn't giving the drugs enough time to work.  Every drug I tried made me worse.  Except benzos. They helped for a short time. A year and a half ago I didn't know what benzos were.  When I started taking them, I realized they can be addictive but was told I wouldn't have trouble coming off. I tried to be careful, take them occasionally, but I got desperate for relief and was assured I could come off. I was also prescribed Trazadone for sleep and was told I could stop taking it at anytime.

Finally in September I found SA, Thank God!  I realized I was misinformed to put it nicely.  By that time it was to late to reinstate, but SA has been very helpful with helping me with benzo and Trazadone taper.

By September I was pretty much bed bound, could hardly eat, extreme nausea, brain issues, palpitations, insomnia etc.  Symptoms most of us go through. That time is a blur for me, but what I do remember still makes me cringe.

I have had some improvement since then. I am still home mostly, but I can sometimes go out to eat with my husband, I can go to church and bible study and to the Grocery store. I can listen to music again, I can watch TV, and shower.  All these things are still uncimfortable, but I can push through them. My faith in God has grown stronger in the past year and gives me strength.

My symptoms now consist of a lot of emotional spirals, neuro emotions.  I'm always anxious, fearful, suicidal ideation, hopeless, nausea but not as intense and I have had weeks when it is gone completely,. Brain pressure too. It comes and goes.  I still have trouble sleeping and wake up feeling hortible. I have derealization.   I wonder how I will ever recover or stabalize while I still have drugs to come off of and it scares me.  But I am grateful for what I can do. I can go for short walks outside.  I can make supper most of the time and I need to remember what I can do when I get really down, but it's very hard to do.

I have a long road a head of me, but I'm hoping next year at this time, my life will be much brighter and I can share that hope with everyone.
