Dear M,

Hello and welcome to SA.

It sounds like you are interested in coming off fluoxetine, but concerned that your symptoms of bulimia will be worse.

Can I ask why you feel that way?

Can you talk about why you are desperate to stop the fluoxetine? People who have a strong reason for coming off their meds, and who do so in a careful way, are "ahead of the game" in terms of coming off safely and successfully.

It sounds like you have strong reasons for wanting to stop the fluoxetine.

Are you able to seek therapy for your eating disorder?

Also, are you on mcg or mg?

This thread talks about the tapering approach that most people find gentlest, tapering at a maximum of 10% of their current dosage per month, in order to minimize withdrawal symptoms: https://www.survivingantidepressants.org/topic/1024-why-taper-by-10-of-my-dosage/

Again, welcome. I'm glad you found us.

2020: After 18+ years (entire adult life) on Paxil, a dangerous doctor-led "taper" in 2015, and four years tapering off the last 1 mg thanks to SA and the Brassmonkey slide,

I AM COMPLETELY FREE OF PAXIL! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Forever.

2021: Began conservative, proper, CNS-respecting taper of Zoloft, led by the only expert on me -- me. Making own liquid. 5-10% plus holds.

2022: Holding on Zoloft for now. Current dose 47 mg. Hanging in, hanging on. Severe protracted PAWS, windows and waves. While I may not be doing "a lot" by outside standards, things are graaaaadually getting better
