Thank you.

Drugs history:

-2002 (1 month):  Zyprexa 10mg

-2008: took an infusion of the cactus San Pedro (mescaline in it), had a bad trip...could not sleep, was totally anxious! PTSD!

-2012: got back my balance, more or less, could sleep, but, my father is in retirement and he's always here and tired, so, the night, he snores a lot and it brings back my trauma of not sleeping... that's why i came to Zyprexa

-2012-2016: Zyprexa 5mg (i tried to take it off many times but i wasn't aware of the protocol, so, i stopped cold turkey different times. then, i started to cut it)

-May 2016: Zyprexa withdrawal started (10% reduction of the initial dose each time, in a liquid solution, but, i started this at 3mg or Zyprexa ; so it was already too quick maybe)

-April 4th 2019: Withdrawal finished (0,0125mg of the molecule)

-April 11th 2019: weird sensations... mental confusion, neck pain, sensation of insanity, everything is weird...

-May 4th 2019: reintroduction of Olanzapine, at 0,20mg per day. I took the afternoon, so, i continue taking it the afternoon, but, i displace the taking from 1 hour each day, to reach sleeping time...

Supplements (per day): vitamin C (1g), vitamin B2 for migraines and photophobia (400mg), rhodiola, vitamin B12 600 micrograms, hawthorn for extrasystoles, magnesium citrate 3g (or magnesium malate 3g), inositol for OCD (18g), omega 3 (3g > EPA 540mg, DHA 360mg), melatonin 1mg, valerian (at sleeping time or when i am anxious) ginkgo biloba, licorice (help with cortisol and stress), sometimes seresta.. (let's be cautious with supplements)

Troubles and disorders: OCD, magical thinking (so a lot of stress in the everyday actions), PTSD-like subsequent sensations, former porn addict (still have a lot of sexual obsession, it is stressful, it's like a sexual addiction in the mind)

Yep, i feel better, i guess it's stabilizing... the high dose of omega 3 helped maybe... considering the article of the person who wrote "what's happening in your brain", our brain (CNS) heal itself, and i told myself, "it has to have fuel and materials to do so", and these materials are omega 3.

Thank you very much, yes, i will stay at this dose.

B2 was for photophobia and migraine. Yeah, i will try to be cautious.

6:30: woke up, big OCD activity and anger. i have the face a little paralyzed, my eyes are often "daydreaming" and they give the feeling that they will shutdown...

7:00: took supplements

8:00: did go for a walk of 4km and did barefooting, etc

9:00: took breakfast

11:00: strange activity, i feel away from my body, have a big anxiety, reality is far and weird, i am not here... it's me but not me... i feel slowed by something... i have some akathisia, this subsequent crying that gives the feeling that you will make convulsions... so i fapped (sorry), i took 5mg seresta, put a nicotine patch, valerian, etc.

4:00: i have the feeling that i will die, that my body will shutdown... i am hypersensitive though my senses (onions in my digestive system, perturb me ; noises, etc)

7:00pm: i feel better, less depersonalized but still obsess that my heart will stop...

what to do? take more zyprexa? i still haven't took it.

i wanted to add that on april 11th, i did take charcoal, so, that maybe why all the acute symptoms started to be!

Thanks.

Jonathan,

You need to be regular and consistent with your drugs and supplements. Please avoid taking supplements or drugs spontaneously to try and control symptoms.

Do you take Seresta every day? Please take Zyprexa at the same dose and time every single day. Having a particularly bad day is not a sign that you need to change the timing or dose, this is part of the natural healing cycle and is referred to as ‘windows and waves’.

I would suggest you read the link below if you haven’t already, to help understand that moments or times of worsening symptoms is normal and if possible, it’s best to ride them out.

Do you practise any coping techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, journaling? The benefits of these techniques tends to become greater with more practice and our baseline levels of emotional resilience tend to improve, so it’s good to practice these daily even in times of reduced symptoms.

PLEASE NOTE:  I am not a medical professional.  I can only provide information and make suggestions.

Yep, i do want to displace the time of taking because i took it at 2:00pm in despair at the reinstatement. That's why. I want to reach nighttime for the taking. Okay. So, when do i take it now? I'll read the thing. So, how much Zyp? 0,2mg or more? :)

Given you have not had an adverse reaction to 0.2mg and have taken it for around 1 week, 0.4mg seems a sensible dosage.

Please take it at the same time every single day and continue to take notes, so we can assess whether the increased dose has a positive, negative or neutral effect.

Sensible in terms of it being prudent and likely to be on benefit. We don’t recommend large reinstatement doses because members often report significant adverse reactions.

Is it normal to have ear, nose and throat problems with withdrawal? I did go to the doctor and my ears are red. I have pain in the ears and the sinus... I have this since months and months. Also nose infections (don't have 'em anymore), etc. I never had this... I guess i did taper too quickly. And my nose was constantly dry. What do you think? And depressurization in one ear, as if my eardrum took water...

Jonathan,

Many psychiatric drugs including Zyprexa have an effect on histamine receptors, so these symptoms tend to be quite common in withdrawal.

I would strongly suggest you have a read through the ‘Symptoms and self care’ section of the site which discusses many specific symptoms common in withdrawal.

10:10pm: took Zyprexa (0,30mg this time, because i was too groggy with 0,4mg)

so, i take it at 10:00pm more or less. and i plane to take 0,30mg instead.

Who takes lithium orotate? I read good things about it.

Okay, thanks.

Hello there.

I did see my psychiatrist yesterday. He practices in mental health center, where there are psychologists and nurses.

I do consult a nurse to talk, one time per week, and she's better than any certificated psychologist i did ever consult (i am not talking about psychotherapists).

So, i talked to the nurse, last Friday, about my dyskinesia/akathisia and she had spoke to the psychiatrist before my consultation with him.

So, during the consultation (there was a nurse too), he told me if i wanted to change the drug, because, Zyprexa has too much side effects (i told myself that he did some researches for the occasion), because, generally, he do not talk about it).

I told that i did not wanted to change because i wanted that my nervous system stabilize itself and that i was afraid to feel new side effects. He told me that as Zyprexa has too much bad side effects, he could be good to change the drug for a one that has the same effect without the side effects.

So i was not okay, he was not upset, and told me not to change the dosage of Zyprexa for at least 15 days. That dyskinesia is most of the time provoked by changes in the dosage. So i encouraged me to stay at a level of the drug.

He told me that psychiatrists and neuropsychiatrists did not know how the psychoactive drugs used in psychiatry did totally worked and that sometimes persons react to it in a more intense way than other ones. He said that they were tiny (doctors) regarding the functioning of the neurotransmitters.

so, i was at 0,3mg since i increased to 0,4mg since May 13th at night.

i do have  some akathisia/dyskinesia crisis during the day and it feels like this (it's hard to explain, so, maybe i am not really precise and clear):

-feeling like a marshmallow

-can not walk well

-sensation that my heart will have a stoke

-pains in the body

-digestive  strange activity

-a big sensibility in my body sensations (skins, etc)

-have the feeling i have to fap, because of an anxiety and a strange pressure and activity in my genitals (sex addiction? accumulated with other dopamine problems, maybe it makes it worse ; i am not a nofapper ; i did not watch porn for a long time and i did watch some on Sunday 12th, because i was stressed, but, it maybe worsened the sensations of stress and akathisia/dystonia).

-i have the feeling i have a second heart near my left trapezius muscle and my left should blade.

-i have strange sensation and sensibility on my chest, like there is an activity like a pulse but disconnected from the pulse of my heart... it's like i needed to scrub inside and i have a strange pain in my muscles here - every muscles in fact, but, here, it adds to a peculiar sensation - does it have something to do with my esophagus?  (it also adds to the feeling of having a second heart beating)

Well, i have a strange general sensibility, like i am not in my body and like there is a problem.

-muscle pains and ear pains

- weird body sensations. it's like everything is disturbed, not working normally... the senses are like mixed and there are interference-like sensations and weird connections of sensations between my different body parts (that's how i describe it)

There is a connection between: anxiety, digestion, body (skin, etc) sensibility, heart, fatigue, cryings, tremors, needing to pee (digestion related), the need to move (it's almost involuntary movements)...

I don't know how to describe it well, that's the best i can do for now.

Thanks everybody.

Personal tapering of Zyprexa

Hello there.

I'm on 0.4mg (approximately) of Zyprexa since more than 3 years.

The day before yesterday, i forgot to take my dose (at night).

So, as i observed that a big part of myself was still being limited by that drug (regarding my motivation, my ideas, my identity, my concentration, my mind...), i now want that it was time to do another tapering since it's now 3 years that i take that dosage.

So, i have some questions, "as my initial dosage is 0.4mg, can i judge that dosage like i judged the 5mg i take in the past? Do i simply apply the 10% reduction protocol?, taking into consideration the receptor occupancy in correlation with the molecule dosage intake."

I have another worry, yesterday, i took 0.2mg (approximately) as i was angry to take it back (i know it was a bad idea!!). So, should i take the other 0.2mg now (it's 3pm, the dose of yesterday was taken at 10pm also (0.2mg!) and i have to take the next dosage at 10pm!

I think i'll now have to take 0.4mg for days again! :)

Since years at 0.4mg, my side effects were under control.

PS : i took the other 0.2mg just now because i felt horribly nauseaus and hypertonic

Thank you in advance!

I think you should wait for at least 3 weeks before making a reduction because you forgot the dose/took a dose off schedule.  If you make a reduction now then if there are issues you will not know if it is because of the reduction, the missed dose or a combination of the two.

Some members find that the lower their dose gets the slower they need to go, reducing less and/or holding for longer.  This topic explains why:

Why taper paper: dose-occupancy curves

And yes, the no more than 10% reduction with a hold for at least 4 weeks applies to the whole of the taper, until you get to a low enough dose to stop.  This final dose will be your decision but generally it is at least 0.025mg.

When to end the taper and jump to zero?
