I try to stay away from Pea protein due to the chemicals they use to extract it.   Of course my sleep is awful so what do I know.

Having been on seroquel it made my insomnia worse.    You do seem to be getting some sleep which is good.

I also have the half sleep half awake thing going on which started when I first took seroquel.    Now that’s all the sleep I get so I am grateful for it.   It is indeed a kind of sleep.

Though I have been unsuccessful at doing this myself try to be grateful for the sleep you are getting.    It could be much much worse.    If you are getting enough to keep going you will make it.    Hugs and love

@Goosie that’s good to know. Thank you for the info! I was pretty happy the day after i slept a few hours and then dream state for a few hours. I don’t remember much of last night but was up and down a lot. It’s all becoming a huge run-on sentence. I am constantly waiting. Trying to distract the best that i can.

Praying for better sleep sleep tonight for the both of us. Sending you love❤️

Easier said than done. I’ve seen so many. Even the functional/naturopath/integrative Dr’s told me to treat adrenals first or treating my thyroid would cause a crash. Now that I’m not sleeping i guess that’s my main focus. Dr in a couple days. Can’t wait.

Is this bad insomnia due to intermittent Ativan use? Sleep was intermittent for a while, barely any days of no sleep. Then consistently 2-3 hours and nice feelings of sleepiness. Now i don’t get that comfy cozy sleepy feeling. Just exhausted but wide awake

😴🙄🤷🏼‍♀️

I dont mean to complain too much. It was really dumb of me to go to the hospital when my Akathisia was incessant. Guess I’m paying the price now. I wish we could have cuddle parties. I think I’m missing human connection and human touch.

I hope the the rest of you are sleeping well. XOX.

Hang in there

if you were sleeping before I think it will come back.   That’s what I tell myself.   Going through the same thing as you right now.

Sometimes after not sleeping I sit down and get like a ten minute nap.   I also sometimes lie with my legs up the wall and just try to rest.

Your iron is low.  Iron serum should be 100-110 - yours is 61.  Iron works with thyroid.  Before you could even start thyroid hormone therapy you would need to get your iron up.  It is possible that by getting your iron up your natural thyroid hormones would be sufficient.

You are not suffering from a Seroquel deficiencies.  Doctors who can only point to antidepressants as a solution are not helpful in my opinion.  I highly recommend you educate yourself on hypothyroidism.  Just because your lab values are in range does not mean your thyroid is fine.  You need to be optimal.

@Karma thank you so much!!! I realize i need a new, educated doctor (are there any?!) i am definitely learning about hypothyroid...have done a lot of investigating. I was assuming my iron is low just by the way i feel during my cycle. Bleh! Any ideas on how to get iron up? Eat red meat? And i mean...is there a way to do it without supplements. I will also research but i mean - in our special circumstances, supplements don’t usually agree. Again. Thank you so much for your inputs❤️🙏🏼

Rachellyn,

I haven't researched improving iron recently. A simple internet search shows iron rich foods like leafy green vegetables, lean meats, nuts and seeds can help to improve iron.  Although it may take more than diet to get you there.  But ensuring iron-rich founds in your diet would be a good start.  I have also found supplementing magnesium helps the system absorb nutrients.  Magnesium is very calming to the system as well.  It can be taken to bowel tolerance.

I used a supplement called Floravital to improve my iron.  I apologize, but I am not sure what the impact of working to improve iron with a supplement would be while in withdrawal.  Perhaps one of our mods can chime in.

Iron and thyroid work together.

Hope this is helpful.

All things considered, i felt ok yesterday.

7:30-Last night i took 1/2 teaspoon of magnesium. I laid down in bed and was so dizzy!!! Nauseous, felt flu-like sick.

8pm - remeron 10mg

9pm - fell asleep i guess

2am- woke up and my right arm was completely numb, couldn’t lift it. I guess i was sleeping on it. Wonder what causes this intensity? My arms and legs are weak. I’m thinking it’s from the low iron. Anyone have any success taking iron? I feel so sick on my period, i feel like i have to try something for iron. I eat high iron foods already...

i listened to louis Hay the rest of the morning.

8:00am - celery juice (for potassium) since my potassium goes low.

Will hold off off on the mag today.

Rachellyn,

looks like you slept 5 hours in a row last night with nothing but remeron?  If so, that is a huge step forward considering the past few weeks. Good to hear.

Felt very depressed yesterday. Did not take the magnesium and instead upped my potassium through coconut water. Did not experience the dizziness or ill feelings i did the other night at falling asleep BUT i only slept from 8:30-11pm. Will my sleep really improve???

It will.  It is easy to lose hope when you have been in the trenches for awhile, but to use my mantra "it has to get better".  As Grace said above, it is a huge step forward to have had 5 hours of sleep the night before.  You are on the right trajectory.  Hang in there.

PAST

Gabapentin:  about 6 months in 2015, 300-900 mg, cold turkeyed Sept 2015 (at same time dc'd Klonopin)

Klonopin: June 2014- Sept 2015; 1mg tapered over 6 mths, dc'd at 0.25mg, withdrawal hellish (perhaps because of concurrent dc of gabapentin)

Mirtazepine: Jumped off at 2.4 mg. (stable in 8 months).

Seroquel:  June 14 - July 24, 2016, 25 mg alternate nights; smaller doses for shorter periods. Total use about 3 months

Lamictal: March 19, 2018 - 1 mg; March 23 - 1.25 mg; April 6 - 2mg. Discontinued at 2 mgJuly 1, 2018 due to Steven Johnson Syndrome.

CURRENT

Supplements: Vit D, turmeric

Naturethroid: 65 mcg for hypothyroidism

Trazodone: Oct 2015 - June 2016; 75 mg tapered over 2 mths, intense w/d after 3 weeks. Reinstatement: 07/25/16 - 25 mg; updosed 08/03/16 - 50 mg;  10/01/16-  62mg; 03/24/17 dropped to 50 mg (stable in 2.5 months)

Current psych meds: Trazodone 50 mg

Rachellyn,

i keep wondering if trying to stay up later, so your body/brain is more in line with natural circadian rhythm might help. Also when you sleep before midnight, you are up all night after a couple hours sleep. Seems like mentally is might be better to try and sleep later in the night. I used to try and force myself to sleep at “normal hours”...I gave up...but I never tried going to bed so very early. Also some sleep clinics actually use sleep deprivation as a reset tool...they give you exact times to go to bed and get up every day. I personally don’t have the discipline for this. If my body is sleeping, I let it sleep.

This healing, or finding sleep homeostasis,is not a linear process. The fact that you slept well (right now 5 hours is well) two nights ago is very hopeful. I know you feel terrible and all you want is sleep; not “it will get better”.

Thank you love! I did try that once and i ended up NOT sleeping. Ugh. So if i know i will sleep for an hour or two at that time. For now...I’m taking it. I’m seeing the Dr. Alto saw in SF tomorrow and so I’m really hopeful! On top of that, friends and family have donated money so i can go tomorrow and a friend of mine started a gofundme too. And i already got one donation!!! So nice.

Not sleeping like this this is SO WEIRD, especially since i actually CAN fall asleep:/

Glad the acupuncture helped.    I also wanted to tell you that waking after an hour or so of sleep was a symptom for some people I met at in patient on seroquel- even those that did not have sleep issues before.    It happened to me too on  Seroquel.    Hang in there.  Being able to fall asleep is awesome.    As you heal you will sleep more.

I’m finding some inconsistencies here. Some people told that it’s ok to take benzos through AD withdrawal - that many people do it. Others are condemned.

Some people told to stop or reduce meds quickly if they are not helping. And others told to just hold consistent. I’m just getting confused 😕

Sounds like the remeron might have gone paradoxical, might be worth speaking to a mod about reducing it or if taking at night time then moving it to earlier in the day.

Someone said this. Only sleeping two hours after taking the remeron. Should i move it up in the day?

Rachellyn,

I sure understand taking the sleep whenever you can get it.

Yes, people recommend taking benzos for AD withdrawal.  Of course, it will help at first, and then it won't and you will have a much bigger problem on your hands.  Believe me I have been on forums and researching for decades.  There is no pill to help with psych drug withdrawal...darn it!!! There are drugs to help people get off opiates but AD's and benzos...well the drugs used most often  just cause another different dependence and side effects.

I can feel your fatigue.  I am sleeping and waking for about 5 hours total (in fits and starts) these days, and I am a walking zombie!

Remember, healing is not linear...windows and waves...I kind of hate that term, but it just means it gets better and gives you hope, and then it gets worse, which to me, is a sign healing is going on (for the most part)  Of course, there are things we inadvertently do that make the waves come and stay, but often there is no real reason.

I spend my time looking for answers....THE answer...it doesn't exist.

Choosing a path, and sticking to it, within reason, is the only way.  I am currently trying to choose a path as I have been giving my brain a good long rest.  Even after not tapering for 9 months I feel like I am in withdrawal.

one day at a time, Rachellyn....I tell myself this every day...one night at a time as well.
