SLivingston: Please help me

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Where to begin...I was on Lexapro for about 9 months.  Didn’t work.  Started seeing a Psychiatrist and she put me on cymbalta.  Took it for 2 months and made me too sleepy.

Aweek ago I started Pristiq and on day two I started getting lightheaded.  I stopped after 5 days and had a genetic test done.  Been on viibryd for two days.

Still lightheaded and dizzy at times and really tired.  Should I be worried? The psychiatrist gave me no direction.  Should I go to my Dr.?  So lightheaded I can’t drive. Please help me, I feel lost.

Hi Slivington, since that 9 month do u still take the lexapro? For me 4 months after I stop prozac, I got lightheaded/ dizziness that comes and go. Heavy excercise like swimming will trigger it, fortunately it subside slowly after 3-4 hours and the episodes last for ~2 months. My only original symtpoms now are just weak memory and bad cognitive agility and function. And this week had tinnitus daily at night(this is new throughout my withdrawal/ anxiety) but it has been disappeared I think.

Prozac 10 mg December 2016

Prozac 20 mg January 2017 - October 2017

Prozac 20 mg March 2018 - April 2018

Welcome, SL.

It sounds to me like you have withdrawal syndrome from Lexapro or Cymbalta. Cold-switching drugs is high-risk for withdrawal, you can have withdrawal from the first drug even though you're taking a second drug.

Going on and off drugs can be wearing on the nervous system. You may be hypersensitive to drugs now, a little can go a long way. Do you have any Cymbalta left?

If I were you, I'd stop seeing this psychiatrist, she doesn't know how to cross-taper and she doesn't know anything about withdrawal syndrome.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.
