Tanha
I read that quetiapine/ seroquel is more sedating the lower the dose? i am at 250 mg cutting my slow way down and since a week I experience daytime sedation quite badly. Tanha
19 hours ago, Altostrata said: Thanks for posting your symptom pattern. Please show some consideration for the staff and make it easier to read by posting it in a more compact fashion. As you can see, your doses of quetiapine and diazepam are not reducing your symptoms. On the contrary, my guess is that you are getting a paradoxical reaction from them by taking too much of both too often and this causes your symptoms all day long. Doctors and patients alike think that taking more quetiapine and diazepam is better for subduing symptoms such as anxiety and other types of activation. However, taking too much of these "brakes" causes the nervous system to rebel and produce more of the symptoms. Since it seems you have a lot of control over your drug dosing, you have, at least in part, been designing your own over-drugging with diazepam and quetiapine. If you insist that more is better, we don't have any magic recipe for making your drug-caused symptoms to go away. The only way to reduce a paradoxical reaction is to reduce the drugs. We advise reducing them one at a time, slowly, to avoid withdrawal symptoms. If I were you, I'd start on the quetiapine because it is far worse for your general health than diazepam. Now since a few days (and one month after dropping mirtazapin from 20 to 15 mg) i start to have severe daytime sedation specially in the afternoon. (Before, around noon, i have the painful flue). How can quetiapine be sedating and paradoxical at the same time or one day sedating and the other giving me terrible hyperarousel 1,5 hours after taking it? 2010-2018 sertralin, venlafaxin, cymbalta 120 mg, march bupropio, Lorazepam 4 to 0,5 mg qetiapine 200-400 mg Apr mirtazapin 30 - 45 mg, lo tapered, to 0; Apr switch to diazepam 3 mg; jun/jul 15mg, taper to approx. 4,5 mg, Aug: 200 to 400 mg q, 50 mg levomepromazine, m 45 to 30 mg; since tapered q 400-230 mg, m 30 to 15 mg, 1dez m to 16 mg, 4dez 250 mg q, 31. dec 200 mg q March 1, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,5 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 3, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,0 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 4, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,2 mg diazepam,16 mg mirtazapine, june 5, 2019 - 100 mg quetiapine, 3 mg Diazepam, 12,185 mg mirtazapine Link to comment
Tanha
I am afraid the old pattern is back: Worst hyperarousel everyday around 4 p for two hours. (seconde pattern is bad flue from 9am to 2 pm) and this old pattern does not fit with the idea of quetiapine being paradoxical to me. This pattern was very stable from April to august and only stopped or was covered by an updose from 200 to 400 mg. I am scared that it comes back and grows stronger everyday although I reduce quetiapine. That means there is another cause for my hyperarousel, one which we cannot influence. It is there now absolutely every day around 4 pm (since I am lower than 260 mg of quetiapine). Could be my underlying sickness, could be the diazepam or mirtazapin. I am so debilitated by it because it is strong and persistent. 2010-2018 sertralin, venlafaxin, cymbalta 120 mg, march bupropio, Lorazepam 4 to 0,5 mg qetiapine 200-400 mg Apr mirtazapin 30 - 45 mg, lo tapered, to 0; Apr switch to diazepam 3 mg; jun/jul 15mg, taper to approx. 4,5 mg, Aug: 200 to 400 mg q, 50 mg levomepromazine, m 45 to 30 mg; since tapered q 400-230 mg, m 30 to 15 mg, 1dez m to 16 mg, 4dez 250 mg q, 31. dec 200 mg q March 1, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,5 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 3, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,0 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 4, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,2 mg diazepam,16 mg mirtazapine, june 5, 2019 - 100 mg quetiapine, 3 mg Diazepam, 12,185 mg mirtazapine Link to comment

Administrator Altostrata Posted December 18, 2018 Administrator Share Posted December 18, 2018 No, if something occurs at the same time each day, it's because of something earlier in your drug schedule. I really do not have time to debate paradoxical reactions with you any more. You have designed your own drug regimen, it looks to me like you're overdosing yourself. If you want to keep doing this, go ahead. This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner. Moderator Emeritus Carmie Posted December 19, 2018 Moderator Emeritus Share Posted December 19, 2018 Hi Tanha, Please listen to Alto’s advice. You have been all over the place and as she said you are overdosing yourself. Taking more and more of the meds is never a solution. As regards tapering Alto already suggested to taper the Seroquel first. I’ve tapered from 300mg do Seroquel down to 7.5mg but it has taken many, many years. I have got many more years to go too. Seroquel is an awful med and being on the high doses you are on can cause all sorts of health problems, but you have to taper off it slowly. Only ever taper by 10% a month maximum. I can only taper around 4% to 5% now. Listen to your body though, and don’t go by a calendar. You need to be stable, or withdrawal normal between tapers. That doesn’t mean you will be symptom free but you will have similar bearable symptoms on a daily basis for a while with no major waves. You can do this. Try and just take a step at a time and reduce being so flustered. Make wise decisions. Take a deep breath and try and get focused. I know it’s hard and overwhelming, but if you are willing to centre yourself a bit you can do this. Are you still in the psychiatric hospital? I don’t have the brain power to read through your whole thread. Take care, sending sunshine your way☀️☀️☀️ Been on APs, benzos, ADs and opiates, for chronic pain. Dear altostrata, thank you you for sharing your experience with me. i was and am a bit confused what you ment by "starting tapering quetiapine immediately". i have been tapering it too fast for the last 8 months and tapered other meds parallel (mirtazapin, levomepromazine). When I read "taper quetiapine immediately" i wasn't sure if I had to stick to the rule of waiting longer or really starting immediately since I had only tapered 32 mg (of 250 mg total) three weeks ago an did my first emergency updose to 250 mg 11 days ago. of course I have to stick to the 10% rule and at least holding four weeks. But since you said I will never stabilize on this high dose due to the paradoxical reaction (which is all very true) i wonder now if you think this is kind of an emergency and cutting faster is adviseable. And did get you right that we still have to find out wether the quetiapine or the diazepam or both are giving me paradoxical reactions? today anxiety and anhedonia are bad. The reductions I have made so far to this drug, Olansapine, have not brought up catastrophic symptoms (unlike the Cymbalta taper). It seems to me that my AP taper has been very different from my previous AD taper that ended in catastrophe. In AD taper I got specific very strong and overwhelming symptoms after reducing, but now I really just don't even get strong symptoms that could be associated with the reductions. I mainly just have what I call residue symptoms from my CT over 2 years ago (my sh*tty baseline), but this is constant and has been getting better bit by bit regardless of the tapering.I have been reducing by 8-9% a month and what I usually get is 3 nights of poor sleep and sometimes (which is the scariest) my akathisia acts up for a day or two (very rarely). But that only happened when I tried reducing after 3 weeks instead of 4. Dear erst, how are you doing with your taper. I also have "old" problems from Ct cymbalta in march. Interesting that you can see your akathisia worsening after three week cuts. I am afraid of this akathisia. Have it all the time but worse during cuts. i am very afraid of it because when I cut Lorazepam from 0,5 mg to 0 in may I got such an incredible akathisia I thought I'd die. Reinstated but didn't help. doctors upped all my meds and that seems to help. do you know what actually causes your akathisia? Tanha
Forgot to mention night medication: 67,5 mg quetiapine 1 mg diazepam knew it better reduced too fast total crash, bedridden, new syptoms (shaking, lightsensitive and worsening eyesight, nonstophyperarousel and weak muscles and feeling not to be able to control too fast). It is too difficult to really understand that taking a few mg more or less is having such an impact on health. I know this from many taperingexperiment over the last months but I am still too blind to see the obvious again and again. These medications are just so unbelievebale in their effects and symptoms vary so greatly. I just feel stupidities by them on another level besides the constant brainfog. And i am in hospital but cannot talk about this to the doctors because i tried so often and they are so ignorant. They either make me take another pill (of course an ad!) against nausea and brainfog and as I refused they told me I had to attend all therapies from nw on or go home. i cannot do any of these therapies because I am in pain but I do go there and am always stunned that I never faint because it feels like that all the time. I wonder how long I can pretend to function in order to avoid this new pill which I am not allowed to know the name. They say I have too much control over my pills and now they want one that they an control. it is the therapies that make me stay because at home I would stay in bed all day no eating no drinking as I did before March. 2010-2018 sertralin, venlafaxin, cymbalta 120 mg, march bupropio, Lorazepam 4 to 0,5 mg qetiapine 200-400 mg Apr mirtazapin 30 - 45 mg, lo tapered, to 0; Apr switch to diazepam 3 mg; jun/jul 15mg, taper to approx. 4,5 mg, Aug: 200 to 400 mg q, 50 mg levomepromazine, m 45 to 30 mg; since tapered q 400-230 mg, m 30 to 15 mg, 1dez m to 16 mg, 4dez 250 mg q, 31. dec 200 mg q March 1, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,5 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 3, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,0 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 4, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,2 mg diazepam,16 mg mirtazapine, june 5, 2019 - 100 mg quetiapine, 3 mg Diazepam, 12,185 mg mirtazapine Link to comment

Thanx. we all know that Psychiatrists must know about sideeffects and withdrawl from their clinical experience. It is impossible that they don‘t know. Yet I believe that the power of this medication is by far not percievable for them as it is for anybody except the sufferers. That is the face of the pills just being so small, easy to apply and after all they are ‚just pills‘. We seem to not have being made by evolution to understand the power of ad‘s benzod and neuroleptics and else. 2010-2018 sertralin, venlafaxin, cymbalta 120 mg, march bupropio, Lorazepam 4 to 0,5 mg qetiapine 200-400 mg Apr mirtazapin 30 - 45 mg, lo tapered, to 0; Apr switch to diazepam 3 mg; jun/jul 15mg, taper to approx. 4,5 mg, Aug: 200 to 400 mg q, 50 mg levomepromazine, m 45 to 30 mg; since tapered q 400-230 mg, m 30 to 15 mg, 1dez m to 16 mg, 4dez 250 mg q, 31. dec 200 mg q March 1, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,5 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 3, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,0 mg diazepam, 16 mg mirtazapine March 4, 2019 - 200 mg quetiapine, 4,2 mg diazepam,16 mg mirtazapine, june 5, 2019 - 100 mg quetiapine, 3 mg Diazepam, 12,185 mg mirtazapine Link to comment
erer
7 hours ago, Tanha said: Dear erst, how are you doing with your taper. Is it only withdrawl or also the sideeffects of a drug? Hi, I have been off Zyprexa(Olanzapine) since spring. (Getting off got me a big part of my life back. I am able to work now, go outside etc). I am currently tapering Diazepam and holding Valdoxan. My akathisia was from Cymbalta. If you read my thread, you will find out how I almost died The strong akathisia came in bouts about 3 months after the CT and a slightly milder version persisted in the mornings for... a long time. But it was not the same intensity than it was right after CT from Cymbalta. I also do believe olanzapine added sooo many symptoms to my list and being off it has made such a difference. 2,5 years of slowly tapering down Cymbalta from 60 mg. Then tried going from 8,44 mg to 1 mg in 8 days. (April 1st 2015). That's when the real hell started. Reinstated. Didn't help. I was added Ativan (2 mg 2 times a day for relentless akathisia that started with jumping Cymbalta). For years had been taking Zopitin 7,5 mg and Stilnox 10 mg for I had not been able to sleep naturally since the 1st day I started Cymbalta). Used to take Xanax occasionally. All of the above were stopped cold turkey when I was hospitalized in the beginning of May 2015. Prior to that I have been on and off the whole spectrum of different AD-s for 15 years (since I was 17). My introduction. Tapering: Olanzapine (starting point 2,1 mg): Jan 2016 /---/ April 2018 0 mg. (From 2,1 mg to 0 mg in 1y 3mo). Diazepam (starting at 5 mg) : switching to liquid May 2018; 4,6 mg (June 2018) /---/ 0 mg (Feb 2020) (From 10 to 5 - nobody knows, from 5 to 0 in 1 y 10 mo) Valdoxan (starting at 25 mg): switching to liquid (Feb 2019) /---/ 0 mg (July 2020) Link to comment
