I have been looking for a psychiatrist who believes in and understands withdrawal syndrome but have had no luck. Does anybody know a good resource for this? I live in Phoenix, AZ.

Hi Azure and welcome to SA,

Not many medical professionals know about tapering and withdrawal which is why this site exists.  We are aware of some medical professionals visiting SA to get the information they need to assist their patients.  Many members have found more information and support on SA than from their doctor, psychiatrist etc.  Members are encouraged to visit each others Introduction topics and support and encourage each other.  Members are experiencing and/or have experienced similar things so understand what others are going through.

SA recommends tapering by no more than 10% of the current dose followed by a hold of about 4 weeks to allow the brain to adapt to not getting as much of the drug.  Why taper by 10% of my dosage?

Hi Azure,

Welcome to SA. How are you doing? We would love to hear how you’re doing. Please put in your drug signature. Just press on the link that ChessieCat gave you. Thank you.

I’m so sorry you’re going through withdrawals, but we can win this fight. Not many psychiatrists and doctors know how to get people off these meds. When you read the horror stories on here about doctors cold turkeying people or putting them on too fast tapers ( they say the tapers are slow ) it’s just awful. I’ve had that happen to me before knowing anything about withdrawals.

Take care, sending hugs 🤗
