Hi Gracee!  I hope you are having continued good days.

*I'm not a doctor and don't give medical advice, just personal experience
**Off all meds since Nov. 2014. Mentally & emotionally recovered; physically not
-Dual cold turkeys off TCA & Ativan in Oct 2014. Prescribed from 2011-2014

-All meds were Rxed off-label for an autoimmune illness.  It was a MISDIAGNOSIS, but I did not find out until AFTER meds caused damage.  All med tapers/cold turkeys directed by doctors

-Nortriptyline May 2012 - Dec 2013. Cold turkey off nortrip & cold switched to desipramine

-Desipramine Jan 2014 - Oct. 29, 2014 (rapid taper/cold turkey)

-Lorazepam 1 mg per night during 2011
-Lorazepam 1 mg per month in 2012 (or less)

-Lorazepam on & off, Dec 2013 through Aug 2014. Didn't exceed 3x a week

-Lorazepam again in Oct. 2014 to help get off of desipramine. Last dose lzpam was 1 mg, Nov. 2, 2014. Immediate paradoxical reactions to benzos after stopping TCAs

-First muscle/dystonia side effects started on nortriptyline, but docs too stupid to figure it out. On desipramine, muscle tremors & rigidity worsened

-Two weeks after I got off all meds, I developed full-blown TD.  Tardive dystonia, dyskinesia, myoclonic jerks ALL over body, ribcage wiggles, facial tics, twitching tongue & fingers, tremors/twitches of arms, legs, cognitive impairment, throat muscles semi-paralyzed & unable to swallow solid food, brain zaps, ears ring, dizzy, everything looks too far away, insomnia, numbness & electric shocks everywhere when I try to fall asleep, jerk awake from sleep with big, gasping breaths, wake with terrors & tremors, severely depressed.  NO HISTORY OF DEPRESSION, EVER. Meds CREATED it.

-Month 7: hair falling out; no vision improvement; still tardive dystonia; facial & tongue tics returned
-Month 8: back to acute, incl. Grand Mal seizure-like episodes. New mental torment, PGAD, worse insomnia
-Month 9: tardive dystonia worse, dyskinesia returned. Unable to breathe well due to dystonia in stomach, chest, throat
-Month 13: Back to acute, brain zaps back, developed eczema & stomach problems. Left leg no longer works right due to dystonia, meaning both legs now damaged
-7 years off: Huge improvements, incl. improved dystonia

Hi @Carmie , @Altostrata and @WiggleIt,  Thank for visiting and for your good wishes.  I believe the Melatonin introduction is successful because sleep is coming sooner.     Plan is to stick with 1.5 mg Melatonin for now as Alto suggested.

I'm not experiencing  WD symptoms.   Tinnitus is unnoticeable unless I make a conscious effort to think about it, like right now.

Within a few days I plan to taper from 33.75 mg Paxil to 32.

Mods, are you in agreement with this reduction?  <smile>

Hi Gracee,

Seeing you’ve been in withdrawal normal now for the month, Yes, go ahead and taper again in few days. That looks good. Looks like the lights are green to go🚦😁. I’m so glad you’ve been doing so well, you can get off these meds this time with the slow and steady method.

Happy to hear the melatonin is helping too, sending hugs🤗

Second day of new taper.  So far, so good.  Very busy day beginning at 6:45 a.m.  Kept active with projects and a couple hours of MahJongg at clubhouse.  Tiredness finally settled in about an hour ago (6 p.m.)  It will be a struggle keeping my eyes open for next few hours.

I wish you the best Gracee! 🤗 glad you know what to do.

Currently taking Ramapril (blood pressure) 5 mg twice a day

Omeprazole 10 mg AM and 20 mg PM  (the taper has gone nowhere after the first cut)

Famotidine   once a day (and I still needs tums sometimes)

magnesium 200 mg at night

as of yesterday 2 fish oil capsules "EPA-DHA 1000"

off Lexapro as of 5/2018  - last dose had been 5 mg every other day for a couple years

highest dose had been 20 mg at which point I was diagnosed with Bipolar II, which went away when I cut the lexapro down to 15 mg.

I spent years on Paxil before Lexapro (can't remember dose), briefly on Effexor and Abilify and others I have forgotten. in fact, when I was diagnoses with BPII I was put on all kinds of things which made me feel so bad I stopped them cold turkey within maybe 3 or 4 weeks, thank goodness. since then I've known these pills were terrible and I weaned down the Lexapro with zero help or support over I'm not sure how many years.

Hi Jackie,  I think I know what to do.   The challenge is actually doing it.   The real test  will begin with tapering from 20 mg downwards, when/if I ever get to that stage.   For now, just living in the day.

Best to you too Jackie.

Day 4 of Taper

Took a Benadryl before bed last night.  Two nights ago I slept badly and today I needed to be sharp for a meeting.   Benadryl helps me sleep if I use it sparingly.

Woke up a little fuzzy but it passed.   Got on with my day; if I had WD symptoms I was too busy to notice.   Tonight, just the routine tinnitus.  Tomorrow will be Day 5 and that is usually the day that I get knocked on my butt.   Hope not, I got stuff to do and a card game to play tomorrow night.

Back tomorrow.   Will I be fuzzy, dizzy, queasy, crabby and exhausted?  Stay tuned.

Day 5 of taper:

No biggie.

Some jitteriness and anxiety most of the morning.   Ran a bunch of errands while feeling WD effects so wasn't as focused as I should have been.  Got my driving route confused and went out of the way; made an abrupt lane change that could have caused an accident.   Reminder to myself to stay in safe-mode early days of next taper.  Feeling optimistic.

@Rachellynn, @Carmie and @JackieDecides,

Thank you so much for stopping by.   Your nice words and encouragement mean more to me than you know.   I am pretty much an introvert and tend to isolate so much that I forget how important friends are.  Even though I play card games, etc with others I don't count it as socializing or having friends.   Oh well, I am what I am.

Day 6 of 5% Taper

Afraid to jinx this taper by reporting how good I feel.  Symptoms are barely noticeable. But then, I have plenty of distractions.  I have been busy, busy, busy.  Exhausted myself this morning with raking, sweeping and desert-dust-blowing.  (We get amazing dust storms in the high-desert of the Southwest).  Did a little springtime planting and porch cleanup.  This nearly 74-year old body I walk around in will be a bit achy tomorrow.

What a relief this small taper is compared to the fast jumps I did a few months ago.  High hopes.

Thank you @JackieDecides.  Slow, Small and Steady tapers is certainly the way to go.   It has occurred to me that I may be close to 80-years-old by the time I hit 0.   What a depressing thought.   Especially since this does not end at 0.    Oh well, not gonna think about that now.

Day 7 of 5% Taper

Slight foggy head.   Went back to bed.  Hah, a rhyme.   Went to bed late last night and then the Daylight Savings thing gave me an excuse to catch up on sleep.

Tinnitus not bad.   Didn't even think about it till I typed the T-word.

Hi Gracee,

Glad you’re doing well. I enjoy reading the daily updates.

I reckon introverts are cool! My sister is an introvert and we get on like a house on fire. I’m definitely an extrovert. I did a personality test once which showed I’m the extroverted type that needs a lot of time on their own too. I love doing things with friends, but I also love spending heaps of time on my own. I get peopled out and need me time.

Take care💚

Been on APs, benzos, ADs and opiates, for chronic pain. Had Akathisia in the past that made me suicidal. Hi Gracee

It sounds like your taper is going well. I hope your rest in bed helped your foggy head. I am so glad your tinnitus is improving.

I liked hearing about your outdoor work on Saturday. Spring planting sounds lovely! Here we are still waiting for snow to melt. I am glad that it finally is going. Can't say I approve of the rain expected later in the week though. I am ready for some sunshine!

I hope your day goes well and that your porch stays dust free. :)

@Carmie,  You made me laugh out loud when you said you think introverts are cool.   If I had my way, I'd spend all my time with my cats instead of people.   😆

Hugs to you too @shawny,  If, in my entire life, tinnitus was the worst thing that ever happened to me, I would be blessed.    Everything is relative and I count my blessings.

Hi @Summer1, Thanks for stopping by.  I am originally from cold, snowy, icy Massachusetts.    I relocated for the good weather.   Sunshine and blue skies make me happy, combined with being outdoors as much as I can.   I love puttering around the yard, but miss cutting grass.    Out here, we have desert landscaping, which means crushed rocks instead of green lawns.

Best wishes in your WD.

Hugs,

G.

Day 8 of 5% taper

At the risk of sounding boring, not much is going on.   There was some medium anxiety early afternoon and I distracted myself like crazy.   There was no way I was gonna let that feeling take on a life of its own.

It is at times like this that I want to taper again because I'm at such a high dose and would love to get down to single digits.   I know, I know......go slow....BLAH!!!!

Had a good day, feeling great.   Then I came here and started reading.   I am finding I suddenly have no patience nor empathy reading the posts.  It is strange thing for me,  and I think I just need to back out now.
