In that case it sounds like you're getting hit by a bad wave. It should run it's course given time.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

You could give it a try, but keep things real easy and pay close attention to how you react for the several days afterwards.  Many people find that even moderate exercise during a wave will make things worse.

Hi Kronos...I just wanted to share that I went back to the gym and each time it was ok for a bit and then I crashed.  Now I can do very very little....little yoga and sometimes a short walk.  I kept taking a break and returning and the same thing would happen so I finally put it on hold for now.

The other thing that I believe for myself is that the exercise and weights affected my electrolytes more because of the need for them increase with exercise.  If you have had any issues with those you might want to be sure to keep hydrated and up on all your electrolytes with exercise.

Take good care!

Hi Kronos,

It’s totally normal to feel those emotions for no reason, that is a classic sign of an overactive sympathetic nervous system, where your bodies ‘fight or flight’ system is stuck in overdrive and is either set off by no stimulus at all, or overreacts to common emotional stimulus.

Please remember the ‘windows and waves’ pattern of recovery. You have had days of less intense symptoms and you will have them again. The travelling may well have stirred things up and caused more symptoms. Either way, I’m sorry you’ve had to experience such intense symptoms whilst travelling, it can be a lonely and scary experience for sure.

Please try forms of self-care to help you get through this rough wave and any extra strain from the travelling. Examples would be meditation, breathing exercises, gentle exercise in a nice environment etc.

Things will improve, you just need to find a way to get yourself through the storm.

PLEASE NOTE:  I am not a medical professional.  I can only provide information and make suggestions.

I understand Kronos, I really do. Thankfully my taper is helping limit my symptoms, but I too have moments of feeling completely helpless and break out in tears or get nervous, it is all part of the healing process.

It is normal to feel anxiety or lose some amount of confidence when going through or having gone through something traumatic. Maintaining a positive attitude and feeling like you have adequate understanding of your struggles, helps to reduce the chances of developing PTSD. I find that thinking of my waves as healing, helps me to not fear the next wave or worrying about permanent damage from these drugs. Many people get through withdrawal and even become stronger and more resilient people. Try your best to peep the faith in yourself.

The thing is, when I am in a window, it’s ok, I can do things, but in these bad times they only make me so hopeless..Thank you so much.Hope it will end one day

I do unfortunately, it's just withdrawal. I was supposed to go to medical school this summer, but psychiatry and pharma have ruined that for me so I have to wait another year. You will heal by next Christmas, I have zero doubt :). It's a fight we must endure, but we will emerge tougher!

Clomipramine: 50mg October-December 2016

Vyvanse: 20mg on most days from December 2016-February 2017, 10mg on most days from February-December 2017, 5-10mg as needed afterward. Stopped Vyvanse April 2018.

Clonazepam: 0.25mg x3 February 2018-April 2018, 0.25mg x2 April-June 2018, 0.25mg x1 June-August 2018, tapered off 0.25mg over the course of 2 weeks.

Escitalopram: 10mg December 2016, 15mg January 2017, 20mg February-December 2017, 30mg January 2018, 40mg February-April; began taper end of April, 15mg mid-June 2018, rushed from 15-0mg from mid-June to late June 2018. Reinstated to 1mg August 2018, then 2mg then 5mg then 10mg over the course of 5 weeks. Decreased from 10mg to 8mg for 2 weeks, then from 8mg to 0mg when Vortioxetine was added. Reinstated within a few days to 2mg (in early November) and then dropped to 1mg in early December.

Vortioxetine: 5mg October-December 2018, tapered off over the course of 10 days after on it.

December 7, December 2018 - June 22: Escitalopram 1mg.

Current: No psychoactive meds ever again.

Supplements: Mg2+ 600-800mg/day (most comes from HardyNutritionals DENs of which I take 12 capsules a day), 3000mg omega-3 oil, 1000mg vitamin C, tried 20+ other supplements before realizing that they are not effective for a destabilized central nervous system.

Yes, I get this too. It also seems to depend on what I’m eating. I have to avoid sugar for sure and anything with caffeine. Generally if it doesn’t have sugar I’m pretty good, I’d be interested to hear what foods are giving you more symptoms.

2017 prozac 60mg

prozac stopped completely march 2018

-restarted Prozac 40mg July 2020

-citalopram 40mg oct 2020

Thats unfortunate, but that seems to be a common thing with withdrawal. It will surely get better over time along with everything else. The fact that you are seeing windows is such a good sign

Hi Kronos,

better days will surely come! Hang on in there.

Hypervigilance is definitely a symptom that can be triggered by withdrawal.

Not too bad, though a bit stressed by having visitors staying with us this week, and my stepdad being ill at the moment. Our visitors are lovely people, but I struggle with the amount of socialisation having them here involves!

I’m sorry you’re struggling like this too.It was a pure coincidence with the gym, as I haven’t been  to the gym more than a month ago i think, and this wave is much much worse than that one.I don’t know what to believe any more, I am only 21 and it seems like the life has gone from my path, I am bedridden with not much hope left.Hope that one day it will be alright.

its weird in the last 30 mins after my dinner im relaxing enjoying music and being flooded with nice emotions .

Take it from someone that did a good job at destroying there life,[unconscious self destructive, im 38],your age is your golden ticket away from this ,you wont believe me in this wave but it will change .

There aren't many coincidences in withdrawl ,a heavy workout could affect you weeks  down the road ,Add that with the plane ride ,im not having a go so apologies if it looks like that ,your human and you want to feel human ,I was the king at not accepting and respecting  withdrawl  and doing way to much because I didn't want to believe it was real but I finally pushed it to a point in the last 6 months that nearly killed me .

Do your activities when this wave is over at a much lighter level ,maybe even a 1/5 of your previous ability .

your bedridden because your body is under huge stress ,but our Ego and a want to be normal overrides our common  sense .

I totally feel your pain ,im traumatised after this winter sofa/bed ridden but we keep fighting and replace these memories with nicer ones when its over  .

Take care mate 🤝

I totally feel your pain ,im traumatised after this winter sofa/bed ridden but we keep fighting and replace these memories with nicer ones when its over  .

Take care mate 🤝

Hi mate.Hope you are ok.I’m struggling, but at least I don’t have that dark depression any more.I’m struggling so hard with the anxiety, in bad waves is just overwhelming. In windows, I can even go out with my friend with no problems, i’m trying to keep busy as much as I can but sometimes all I can do is lay in bed, waiting for the day to pass..How are you feeling mate?

I’m feeling so tense, nervous, overwhelmed by fear, anger, sadness and despair.I don’t know what to do any more, I can’t stay calm, I can’t enjoy life anymore, it’s not depression, but big style anxiety that doesn’t let me do literally anything.Anything I do, anywhere I go gives me anxiety. My mind started racing again, my body feels so restless and tense all the time, all these symptoms are overwhelming me.
