Cowboy: homeopathic treatment?

I'm looking for help for my son who is 23. After extensive reading on this site and in other places I've begun tapering his antipsychotic, risperadol, as of this past Monday night. I got some CBD for him and started him on that a few days prior. His symptoms seemed to disappear and this has been the case through these first few days of tapering, but I'm aware the withdrawal symptoms might not show for a few more days. Fortunately, he's only been on it for a month or so and on any antipsychotic for less than 6 months. His mom has suggested homeopathy but I've not seen any direct anecdotal support for this, only from individuals pushing homeopathic remedies, unlike CBD which seems to have tons of support from individuals.

Anyone tried any homeopathic remedies?

Thanks!

Hello, Cowboy.

Welcome to Surviving Antidepressants.

Here is some information on tapering Risperadal:

Was your son on any other psych drugs prior to being on risperidone for the past month? If not, he may be able to do a slightly faster taper than 10%. However, if he's struggling, it's best to stick to a slow and careful taper.

Please add a signature.  Include drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements in the last 12-24 months. Also include supplements. This will help us give you the most accurate advice we can.

  • Any drugs and supplements prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years.
  • Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago)
  • Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016.
  • Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses.
  • A list is easier to understand than one or multiple paragraphs.

Is your son able to join the forum? It's always best to communicate directly with the person who is coming off the drug, so please let him know that we would welcome him here for tapering information, as well as social support.

Hi Cowboy,

Welcome to SA from me too. Could you please put in your son’s drug signature, just press on the link Shep gave you. Thanks.

How much did you taper him by? How much was he originally on? And as Shep asked, has he been on other meds before?

Wishing him all the best with his tapering, it’s great he’s got such support from his parents.

Sending hugs🤗
