Hi Randy,

Welcome to SA from me too. Could you please fill in your signature, just press on the link ChessieCat gave you. Thank you.

How are you doing? You said you are tapering 10% a week, is that correct? That is way to quick, we should never taper more than 10% a month as our brains can’t catch up that quickly from all the changes.

What supplements are you actually taking now?

Take care, sending hugs🤗

I did that. I am following the Ashton protocol for taper off benzos. 10% is a compromise number. I do have major sleep issues and have used a 7.5 mg remeron for sleep. Any comments on that low dose med?

Has there been anything new to report on the AM cortisol surges? They are getting worse again. I read a number of posts from 2011 on Seriphos. PLEASE HELP.

I have been off benzos for 4 months, still take remeron 7.5 to 15 at night.

Hello, @Randy. Please put questions and updates in this Introductions topic.

What is your sleep pattern? When did the cortisol surges get worse? What drugs are you taking, at what dosages and times of day?

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.

I took 1 5mg valium a few days ago and I am worse for it. No more!

Has anyone used Stabilium Garum supplement?

Stabilium Garum is just fish oil and red food coloring that is more expensive than regular fish oil capsules.  Save your money.

20 years on Paxil starting at 20mg and working up to 40mg. Sept 2011 started 10% every 6 weeks taper (2.5% every week for 4 weeks then hold for 2 additional weeks), currently at 7.9mg. Oct 2011 CTed 15oz vodka a night, to only drinking 2 beers most nights, totally sober Feb 2013.

Since I wrote this I have continued to decrease my dose by 10% every 6 weeks (2.5% every week for 4 weeks and then hold for an additional 2 weeks). I added in an extra 6 week hold when I hit 10mg to let things settle out even more. When I hit 3mgpw it became hard to split the drop into 4 parts so I switched to dropping 1mgpw (pill weight) every week for 3 weeks and then holding for another 3 weeks.  The 3 + 3 schedule turned out to be too harsh so I cut back to dropping 1mgpw every 4 weeks which is working better.

Final Dose 0.016mg.     Current dose 0.000mg 04-15-2017

So all the positive reviews are faked?  Allergy Research Group has been around for 40 years. If you research it you will see it is not generic fish oil.

It's usage goes back millenniums. The roman army discovered the stuff during the Gallic wars and they adopted it to improve resilience to physical and emotional stress of legionaries.

Commercially available Stabilium Garum  contains three active ingredients two of which are omega3 fatty acids from Krill oil (krill are technically fish) and a third ingredient that is used entirely as red food coloring.  There is nothing else in it that has any medical significance.  There are no clinical tests that show it is usable for much of anything except as an antioxidant, which has no affect on ADWD.  Traditional healing is fillled with tales of herbs that do wonders, that when tested end up being anywhere from ineffective to down right dangerous.  This product is just the same as something that can be gotten much more cheaply.  We do recommend fish oil to many of our members because it can be helpful.  But I would steer away from all the hype you read on line about something being amazing.

Your information is contradicted by others, who also have no financial stake in it.

I am dealing with benzo w/d s/x, not long term AD use.

I've been on Remeron 7.5-15/day for 2 months which I need to stop asap.

"Stabilium is a dietary supplement composed of Garum Armoricum®, sunflower oil and lecithin, manufactured in France. There have been two reports that Stabilium has anti-anxiety properties in asthenic (fatigue) patients dealing with severe anxiety. [1],[2]

But the effect of Garum Armoricum® on normal, healthy people suffering mild or free floating anxiety remained untested until recently. Dr. Dorman and researchers at California Polytechnic State University carried out a crossover, double-blind study on Garum that was published in 1995 in The Journal of Advancement in Medicine. The study looked at fifty four college students between the ages of 18 and 25 on the assumption that they are an excellent test group because of the anxiety associated with academic stress.[3]

The results show an obvious decrease in average anxiety scores during the initial weeks which is significantly greater in the Garum Armoricum®-first group. After the crossover, the placebo-first group also experienced an obvious decrease in average anxiety scores. However, the persistence of the anti-anxiety effect in the Garum Armoricum®-first group through the washout week and well into the second phase of the study interfered with the crossover design.

Despite the unanticipated inadequacy of the washout phase, the study clearly demonstrates a statistically significant decrease in anxiety (P<0.05) from Garum Armoricum® at weeks 2, 3 and 4 of the study. Although the lingering anti-anxiety effect of Garum Armoricum® was a liability in this study design, it should be considered an asset for real-life use of this product.

A second crossover, double-blind study followed, to test the effectiveness of Garum Armoricum® on weakness and fatigue-related depression and anxiety, as well as memory and cognitive performance. It was published in The Journal of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology in 1996. [4]

GARUM ARMORICUM is a natural protein autolysate extract of the Blue Ling fish (Molva dypterygia) that functions as a safe and effective ANXIOYLTIC ANTIDEPRESSANT.

GARUM ARMORICUM should NOT be confused with FISH OIL. Whilst both GARUM ARMORICUM and FISH OIL are both derived from fish, their respective compositions and physiological effects are very different.

GARUM ARMORICUM’s primary active constituent is a very high percentage concentration of micro polypeptides, the majority of which comprise polypeptide chains with a molecular weight (size) of less than 700 Daltons, and which are similar to the hypophysiotropic hypothalamic peptides and to certain neurotransmitters.

The mechanism of action of these micro polypeptides is to either act as precursors to or mimic ENDORPHINS and ENCEPHALINS.

GARUM ARMORICUM also contains a very small quantity of EPA and DHA; however, this is NOT considered to be responsible for its respective physiological effects.

The ANXIOLYTIC properties of GARUM ARMORICUM were first tested by Yalacta Laboratories in France in 1978 where it was found to be quite effective in treating patients that suffered from CHRONIC ANXIETY. And later scientists at California Polytechnic State University performed clinical trials which found that GARUM ARMORICUM was also useful in treating ANXIETY.

It is very easy to find supporting studies on the internet for just about any position one can take on any subject. The validity of those studies is a major concern.  The thing about trying to apply 25 year old studies conducted on specific small groups to large groups of contemporary subjects who are not related in any way to the test group, is that you can't.  I'm not going to bother picking apart your argument point by point because I don't wish to waste my time or yours. I will however point you to this thread:
