Tremors, shaking, body vibration, internal trembling

Make copies of all your posts here so you have it as a reference later when you may need it to see how you health has progressed as I wish I had done that way back at another site as I am sure there are particulars that would help me and my doctors today.

You may not feel you have the energy to do it but trust me copy and paste into a file could save you a lot of stress later if you have further issues.

Imagine if all you ever wrote here was deleted and you needed the information due to memory issues ... you would have dates and specific issues you posted here that information could be invaluable to the future you and your future doctors.

Tremor I had before quitting Effexor and a dragging right foot ..my foot had changed and I could no longer put a boot on that foot in the winter living in Canada wearing clogs all winter is a bad idea yet I had no choice I could not bend the right foot enough to get a boot on.

These are some of the reasons I went off Effexor I was way to scared to think of this on  my own it was a neurologist who came up with the idea...

After what I had experienced after taking Prozac - for pain and not knowing it was a psych drug as I was never told it was a psych drug... I thought the resulting sever adverse reaction was all my own crazy brain... I took treatment after that to keep those reactions from returning I had not clue they were all drug induced ... my fear of having those experiences again kept me drugged 18 years so you know I was not stopping Effexor without a fight but it seems I had hit a wall and my body was revolting.  While waiting on test for MS ect to come back off E I went and tried a few other drug concoctions but they were of no value to me for the tremor or the foot drag or any of the other things... I know there were more but can't recall them now.

Tremor and the foot improved gradually very gradually over the last several years I did however break that foot twice in the last six years and it hurts but I can't say now if it hurts any worse than it did before I broke it or not??? up for debate I can't remember well enough ... at this point it seems it has hurt for ten years at least. Why I don't really know various reasons and for the ladies out there it sucks to never wear a nice pair of shoes again side note.

Seems all I had to do was get off the drugs and go thru hell to get my body to ease back to something I could almost be comfortable in there are many other things but laying contorted in my bed in pain is over... just some lingering things and pain of course pain has been a huge part of this for me .. body pain headaches.

I had a car accident in Dec 2012 sound a  long time ago but really it was only 15 months ago short if you consider how long withdrawal is... after that accident I had a tremor in my right leg and arm .. it came together at the same time to the same rhythm

I talked to my doc about it and we both thought some nerve had been irritated and it would settle in time... it did gradually noting heals quickly for me everything is gradual... the arm stopped shaking in unison with the leg but the leg continued  tho it gradually had a tremor less and less.

When I learned years ago that these drugs can cause parkinsonism I figured that was what I had some form of it and having parkinsonism will leave you more vulnerable to Parkinsons disease in the future I was sure I would not be one of those people as I am adamant about drug control in my own body and have turned down a drug store full of pills in the past 6 years...

If it was drugs that cause it I was going to lessen my chance and heal.

This morning I was shaking not just my arm and leg but my head my arm my torso ...shaking all thru my spine. It lasted maybe a minute not that long but long enough to draw my attention that this is something new.

I looked up tremor of course the varying types and causes.

http://www.medicinenet.com/tremor/page3.htm#what_are_the_different_categories_of_tremor

Read a suggestion of putting a paper on the outstretched hand to see if there was a tremor... there was in both hands.

I read all the causes and since my sister just passed it could be a emotional issue.. I sure hope it is...I use to hate the idea that things were all in my head but today I hope it is.   Stress of course can make anything worse... could be that too. Being in my head means I will eventually get past it when grief lessens.

There are a few things I have been taking tho I tend to react badly to drugs I am taking and penicillin and two puffers for my lungs I had an infection almost done the antibiotics that I have never reacted too before... the puffers I don't like and in early withdrawal could not tolerate them one I think has a steroid and maybe it is the drug in the puffers that is causing this... I was jumping out of my skin anxious last night and took have a 500mg of taurine... that is it for my drugs...

salvent and fluticasone are the puffers amoxicillian is the drug...

it has been months since I was on an antibiotic this one can work sometimes

I guess I could look up the puffers but this go around I really feel I need them or I would not be taking them...

Drug induce tremor response could be due to the puffers if you have a leaning towards them I guess... I am not sure.

This is my morning so far. A bit scary and I hope not a taste of what is ahead of me.

Had to look up the puffers they both cause anxiety...

Three times since big drop in dose in October, I had violent shaking happen all over, teeth chattering, everything shaking. It happens for about a few minutes I think. No pain or discomfort. I do get a cold flash just before it. I did a google search and I came up with myoclonic epilepsy. Obviously, this is worrying and I wonder if other people have had this, have they just ignored it or brought it to docs attention. Thank you very much!

Last time I jumped off from 3mg, I began sweating at night.  Waking up covered in sweat.   Then I would spend hours shaking and freezing in bed.  Weird sort of freezing.   I haven't had those symptoms since the first day I re-instated at 2.3mg.   Don't know whether it helps....

I've had it.

I think it's just another part of CNS out of whack.

I agree with JDM. I actually get this fairly frequently. Sometimes it is accompanied by chills, and my body temp. is low as well. Other times, I just get the shaking.

My left hand was useless for a long time early on in my taper. It just shook and I had not much control over it. It got better in 2 months or so.

I got those whole body shakes too but they came and went away. The hand thing was much more annoying.

I've had a similar experience with my legs shaking uncontrollably for around 30 minutes - both times I woke up around 5 am and it suddenly started happening. It was terrifying the first time as I didn't know what the hell was going on but I think a little better second time round since I realised it would pass in a little time.

WiggleIt

I went about three weeks without having an episode that I refer to as "Big Wiggle."  Yesterday and today I had Big Wiggle episodes, which are always accompanied by severe speech impediment.

Big Wiggle is when my whole body flops uncontrollably.  Arms, legs everywhere.  Sometimes I lay on the ground flopping like fish out of water, and sometimes it happens when I try to walk, so my parents must hold me so that I do not fall.  I am conscious, though, and an EEG of my brain did not detect any seizure activity.  But it does LOOK like I am having a seizure.

Anyway, I had many Big Wiggles during the first month off meds.  Then they settled down a bit for about two or three weeks.  Yesterday and today I had bad Big Wiggle episodes and the myoclonic jerks of my arms and legs are terrible, and when I talk out loud it is choppy with very simple words.

I am scared.  I had improved a little bit so that I was able to walk five laps in my hallway.  Now, I cannot walk five feet without my whole body twisting and writhing.

I haven't read of any cases as severe as mine on those whole site, nor anybody who has suffered from c/t or rapid taper of TCAs.

Certainly not reading any recovery stories of people manifesting as severely as me.  Sure, there's some people recovering from less severe-sounding TD and less-severe sounding MS-like symptoms, but I haven't read anything anywhere else about anybody flailing uncontrollably on the ground.  It is terrifying and I am sure I am going to die, or be stuck like this forever.  As long as my Mom and Dad are alive to take care of me, I know I can be brave.  But I am an only child, with no spouse or children.

If I am stuck with a whole body movement disorder and cognitive impairment, I'm ******.  There is no hospice that will be as kind or gentle with me as my parents are.

Today, I have not even been able to feed myself because my arms are jerking too much.  My parents have been feeding me with straws and spooning soft foods up to my mouth.  I am able to the this because it does not mater if my hands jerk while they hover above the keyboard, but if they jerk while i try to feed myself, then obviously food goes everywhere.

Seriously, though, NOBODY on this site seems as bad as I am and NOBODY on this site seems to have any experience with my class of meds.  There are so many sweet people here who are so encouraging, and I was encouraged for a few days, too, but now I am just as bad as I was at the VERY beginning, when we were calling 911 all the time because I was flopping on the floor.  The only difference now is that I know 911 is a waste of time.

So I just lay on the floor, flop, and whimper, "Please, please," over and over again.

And that's my life.

Hand tremors started for me back in November of 2012, they would subside when I took my benzo, and of course I was on a ton of other meds to, the psych dr just enjoyed the poly drugging.now since January of 2013 since I was rapid detoxed off benzos the internal shaking, tremors body shaking/tremors are non stop. I can't stand it, even my eyes vibrate at times, I mean when I sit still you can see the shaking it's like I'm plugged into a wall outlet, it's like a buzzing shaking. Ugh I hope that makes sense. It sometimes gets so bad at night I can't sleep. It also increases with stress and of course in the early am with the cortisol spikes. Ok I'm done

I have had jerks and shaking both.

In the past two years vibrating in one leg and arm on the same said at the same time.  No cause has been sought hence none found I had a neurologist apt to figure it out but when I got there I could not remember why I went and apparently my family doc who referred me could not or would not write arm and leg shaking on the referral.  The last apt was last Aug... it has taken 7 months to get an apt to ask the same question....oddly enough after two years of this it has changed and is just the leg that shakes most of the time.

I have this idea that my doctor no longer believes what I say here we go again... as I have had this before all based around symptoms from these drugs... it gets very old.

I havent been on here for a while because I feel much better but still I come back and read sometimes.

One of my major problems during these 21months free have been tremor, I have been shaking alot.. and my questions is, have anyone experience this increased of tremor if youi get excited about something?

Example, I can be calm and shakings is ok.. Then I start to get excited about something and suddenly I shake alot and need to calm down to not get more shaky... :/ I seem to be so sensitive to being too overwelmed and too sad bc then I just start to shake like crazy.

No word on the shaking yet but a neurologist said I had a psychogenic movement or reaction in my leg don't recall what word he used.. He wrote it down for me the neuro surgeon said it was nothing when I showed him the paper.. so I guess it is nothing. Or one more thing that is all in my head.  I am use to it me the big google person I have not even looked it up.  I don't know it this has anything to do with shaking or not seems to me part of the movement was a shake.

Do I understand it wrong, or can it be the Omega 3 supplements that might causes one's body to tremble / shiver?   I'm off Cymgen now for 2 weeks after tapering it down over 2 months and was placed on Trazedone (50mg) and now suddenly I experience this trembling / shivering feelings during the night.

I tried (as per advice from the psychiatrist) to increase the Trazedone dosage to 100mg, but I could not as it felt like my head was cutting in half (sharp pain) and then the trembling the whole night through.  Then I decided I'm back on the 50mg as the side-effects was not nice and since then the trembling continues every night.  What might this be?? Should I stop using Omega 3?  Might it be the withdrawal symptoms of the Cymgen?

I had internal tremors when I tapered off my antidepressants.  A constant buzz.  They started within days to a week or so after beginning to taper off of Lamotrigine, Sertraline, Gabepentin, and Trazadone.   I also had some hand tremors, and when upset, my head would shake.  This went on for months.  My Aunt has essential tremors, as did her Mom.  My psychiatrist said that I also had them, when I asked whether the WD could cause the tremors.  He had me go to the Mayo to see my Aunt's neurologist and after quite a battery of tests, they determined that the tremors "were caused by anxiety."  I asked him whether WD from the AD could cause it and he said no.  I saw the head Psychiatrist at the Mayo, and he said anxiety was the cause, that they were absolutely not caused by WD.  I know what anxiety feels like, and these tremors were not anxiety.  NO WAY.  The tremors were no more or less active when I was stressed.  A constant.

Anyhow, after several months of being off of most of the AD (you see, I was on 4 different meds) they went away.

Now I am tapering from Klonopin.  I now have tics, not the same thing.  I can control them to some degree, but my body wants to move, and it is too much work to fight them.  They bother me mostly only when I try to relax.  It's like if my brain is busy moving my body intentionally, it doesn't need to fire the tics.  If I try to relax, my brain doesn't want to, and I start having tics in my neck and head.  They are much worse when I am anxious, and when I'm really upset, they are so strong that they hurt and cause cramping.

It never ceases to amaze me how even the doctors at the Mayo Clinic refuse to recognize these WD symptoms.  Why?

I am suffering with that lately.  I believe I have had it in the past too.  It should remit after a couple of months I hope.  Mine feels related to my body temperature.  The outward shakes.  Like shivering but not quite the same.

The inward shakes are weird.  Good description.  And timely, as I do know exactly what you mean.

Trembling I mean.

It comes and goes throughout the day now.  The inner might be related to the gut somehow I think.

I don't know how long really as I just realized I've had this before.  But it's gone away.  I hope it's the dissipation of the anxiety for good!

Oui !

I like your avatar.  I must keep trying to just get going again.  So hard after "feeling" so close for what "seemed like" so long.  I keep saying to myself "you know the drill" over and over.

Hopefully dowtongirl will find her way over.  Vagus nerve?  Withdrawal symptoms are so much fun.

I don't have the answers but I've had most of the symptoms now.  Several times over.  Music is starting to help.  With earbuds.

Have any of you felt a terrible internal trembling/shaking/vibrating? I feel like my whole body is shaking or shivering, but it's not visible on the outside...just internal.

I have had this on and off through this process, but usually wouldn't last more than an hour or so at a time.

I have found that for the last three days it's been almost constant. It's worse in my hands and arms, but I can feel it through my whole body.

I've read this can also be part of anxiety.

Is this just another "normal" part of the process?

Anyone else experience this? How long did it last for you?

It's driving me crazy and seems to be worse every day. Almost like I'm having or about to have convulsions.

Toulouse

I actually have just started getting this sensation about a week ago.  I feel vibrating/tremors/twitching in the muscles in my hands, forearms, and legs. It's not painful, but it is annoying.  I feel it on and off throughout the day, and sometimes its keeping me awake at night.  I am 6 mos off of Paxil, and this seems to be a late blooming WD symptom for me. Though I did feel some small tremors/internal vibrating under my ribs very early in my WD process, it went away for almost 6 months and only resurfaced just now. I have read it could be anxiety related or SSRI WD related. Other members have told me they have had similar experiences.

Does anyone know what causes this? I had it a lot in early withdrawal mostly at night while I was sleeping( would wake me out of a dead sleep) but during the day too sometimes. I only get it now when I am in a wave or get very hyper about something. If I get excited about something I will feel faintly, it doesn't stay around long but its there.

I also had a intermittent vibration in my leg which is gone now, I almost feel like it was a nerve rewiring itself it kept following the same path, but the path would get shorter and shorter every month until it was gone. like the nerve healed itself a little each time so the path to be healed got shorter and shorter until it was just my toe and then it stopped.

Well, I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone...and it sounds as though it may continue to come and go?  It is incredibly disturbing.  Yes, wakes me up at night as well.

I have read anxiety can cause it...that it is something muscular.  And like Toulouse said, can be SSRI WD/adverse reaction.  But the exact cause, what is going on inside to make it happen would be good to know.

The sensation of internal vibration sounds like low-grade akathisia to me , and it can come and go

like other symptoms.

The vibration is often described as an electrical current. For some people it occurs only in the

legs and has been called Restless Leg Syndrome.

It started about 6 months off a too-fast taper for me.

Lol @ "late blooming WD symptom". For some reason , it often presents months after stopping ad's.

You might find relief by getting up and moving around. Sometimes pacing helps.

Yes, Fresh, I do feel like I have akathisia...internally.  I do not have the physical feelings of constantly needing to move, but that is how I feel internally.  I have read a couple others post about this.  You think it is related to that?  It makes sense, as it does seem to accompany those feelings.

I have had other electrical current type feelings, which mostly originate in my hands and arms, but can be felt full body.  The internal shaking (like a shivering feeling) originates in the same way,

So has that symptom gotten better for you?
