Hello everyone!

On March 16th (2019) I started taking Venlaflaxine (Effexor) 37.5mg in the morning. Unfortunately, the side effects are too much for me to handle, so this morning (April 2nd) I did not take it. I'm here to seek support and answers as I have no clue what will happen with my mind/body now that I stopped.

Venlaflaxine - 37.5mg - 03/16/2019 to 04/01/2019 // C/T - Barely remember the withdrawal except for the first 2 weeks.

Citalopram - 30mg - 07/25/2019 to 01/??/2020 // C/T - Barely noticed the withdrawal because I never thought of it but obviously there were signs and symptoms there.

Benzo - Diazepam 5mg nightly - 12/2020 to 01/16/2021 // C/T

Now In PAWS from A/D and C/T Withdrawal from Benzo.

To give members the best information, we ask them to summarize their medication history in a signature -- drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements, in the last 12-24 months particularly.

In terms of dependency, according to the medical literature, anyone that's been taking an antidepressant for more than a month is at risk for withdrawal symptoms.  Since you were only on it for a little over two weeks, you should be fine with respect to dependency-related withdrawal symptoms.

However, I want to mention that if the effects you experienced were an adverse reaction to the drug as opposed to side effects, you could be in for some withdrawal symptoms. Adverse reaction is defined in the first paragraph of the following link.

But I only took it for a Week

Adverse reaction symptoms closely mirror withdrawal symptoms.  Here is some information about withdrawal:

Please keep us informed on how you're doing, so that we may be of help to you if needed.

What is an adverse reaction?

To make the story short, I went to the ER with a huge anxiety attack and after 5 minutes with me the Dr concluded I needed antidepressants. We never talked about my medical history or even if anxiety is usually an issue. He prescribed "the lowest dose" he said. So I started taking them. Then I started getting more anxiety every day. It stopped for 4 days then out of the blue I woke up with an anxiety attack.

  • ChessieCat changed the title to Anderz 88: stopped using Effexor after 1 week

Well..

The first 3 days were aweful in terms of anxiety and headaches but other than that it has been  a small battle. Im hopeful I will feel more like myself in the next few days.

Thanks for asking ❤️

PS: Quitting CT, no matter how long you've been taking it... BAD IDEA. I just didn't have any other option.
