KristinaD: Missed life because of antidepressants

Recommended Posts

I have had huge health problems starting at age 17 when got Lyme disease and also fell with an 85-lb backpack on which resulted in lifelong pain due to post-traumatic dystonia.

I first tried antidepressants while in medical school and immediately flunked my classes because of the memory problems due to the anticholinergic action if the old style antidepressants. I forget what I was on.sonethung similar to amitryptaline.

Many yests later i was stsryed on a serotonertic antidepressant. I stayed on it for at least 20 years. Then I read Peter Bteggin’s book “Brain-Disabling Treatments in Psychiatry”.

i realized that  the amotivational syndrome he described was what I had.

I tapered off my drugzand woke up.

I can barely describe tge horror of realizing that you have missed half your life and that it is too late.

For anything.

i am still on Wellbutrin. That drugs was a miracle for me when I started  it. So I don’t know whether I should taper off of it or not.

I am also on opiates and have been for 20 years. I am not sure if they are preventing me from fully living as well.

As part if my history there was also a month of resperidol which resulted in sevete  lifelong akathisia. . Which is why I am on opiates.

So my main questions are regarding Wellbutrin and opiates. Do they cause horrible problems like the serotonergic antidepressants?

Amitriptyline

trazadone

prozac

mao inhibitor

wellbutrin

Lexapro

I am afraid that I don’t realkt understand this website.

What is a drug signature?

Abd how could I include all the drugs and doses?  I don’t recall even the names of all the drugs. Let alone the doses. I am not in a position to look them up at present.

I am in Dallas, having come here to be under the care of a marvelous environmental physician  for my severe chemical sensitivity.

I am having surgery tomorrow.  (added by CC, mentioned below)

______________________________________________________________

IPlkkkkñI was repeatedly scammed by various living situations and have been robbed 15 times-the last one alone, in the past week or two, totalling about $7,000 worth of mostly medication, though bizarrely, all my food was taken from my frig (a ton of gluten-free-free and organic food), and all my lightbulbs were stolen (!?!).

It is my landlord that did it but proving it will be difficult. Anyway, back to the topic-the information is in storage. I cannot get to it. I am having surgery tomorrow. I have put new locks on my bedroom door that only I have the key to and I bought a hidden camera device.

The landlord has finally been convinced  by my roommates that her tactics are self-defeating and illegal so I once again have light and a/c and hot water and can actually get in the house. I actually had to take a crowbar and go through the illegally- locked doors between the house and the garage to get to the fuse box to turn the power back on.

I had five different police officers tell me that it  was legal for me to do this and that no one would arrest me. Still, it took me 10 days of no power to actually do it.

Code enforcement told her repeatedly that she could not lock those doors and that she  must provide electricity but she  ignored  them.

I have lived all over the country and have never had any kind of difficulty with any landlord.

Here, there has been nothing but problems.

The laws here are  bizarre  as well. It turns out that a roommate or landlord can steal everything you own and it is not illegal.  The police are irritated when you keep calling them as they say there is nothing they can do.

This happened once before- when i hired a young man to help me. He had some kind of difficulty with his living situation and I allowed to sleep on my couch for two nights.

That small kindness meant that when he later stole a complete carload of my things, the police said it wasn’t against the law for him to steal it all because those two nights meant he had carte blanche to steal anything I owned.

And, renters insurance is no good here, either. They pay for nothing, saying that the police don’t write proper reports.

Avoid Texas like the plague!!!!!

if you pay your rent with automatic bank payments,, the landlord can raise your rent by $400 without telling you and the bank has to pay it. And nobody informs you.

I’m sure that  those of you that  live in sane parts of the country must think that I am imagining these things due to psychiatric illness, perhaps. This couldn’t possibly be true.

Sadly, , it is.

As far as I can tell, this is what happens  when you have Republicans in power unopposed.

What is a drug signature?

Each member has their own Introduction topic where they can ask questions about their own situation and journal their progress.

When you joined SA you were asked to provide some drug information but that is not visible.  The drug signature is a separate thing and appears below every post that a member makes so that we can see your drug history at a glance.

We need drug details for the last 2 years.  Anything older than 2 years can just be a summary, only need year and drug name and approximate amount of time you were taking the drug.

Please create your drug signature with as much information as you are able to.  You can edit the information later if needed.  If you can't fit it all in the drug signature, please provide 2 years of information.  The rest of the information can be provided in a post here in your introduction topic.

Don't worry about the drug signature right now, Kristina. What we need to know is what are you taking, what were you taking in the round before this round, and when did you go off the previous drugs.

You're now taking Wellbutrin and an opiate? What dosages, at what times of day?

It sounds like you went off an antidepressant -- which was it? When did you last take it? Did you have withdrawal symptoms? How do you feel now?

Depending on how you feel, you might want to let your nervous system rest for a while before tapering off Wellbutrin.

This is not medical advice. Discuss any decisions about your medical care with a knowledgeable medical practitioner.
