whirlandtwist: daily headaches/brain pain

I feel these symptoms every day without missing, its kept itself steady without change for 6 months now. Its a very weird kind of headache, it does not hurt in the typical areas of a headache (shoulders, neck, etc). I feel it inside my mind. Its as if, the neural paths where dopamine and other susbtances once passed by, have forgotten how to deal with it and now can't do much else but burn in despair. It happens when I do something that should feel pleasurable: kissing, getting off a rollercoaster, masturbation, finishing a great meal. Its just there, it does not get any better and its driving me insane. It hurts EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Have you gone through something similar? what worked out for you? I do keep an active life, I excercise a lot and eat healthy. But the effort is seemingly meaningless: the pain will not go away.

Hi, Whirlandtwist.

Welcome to Surviving Antidepressants.

I'm not sure if you're still taking a psych drug or are recently off, so I'll give you some general information to get you started until you tell us more.

You may find some helpful information to handle your symptoms here:

Non-drug techniques to cope with emotional symptoms

We don't recommend a lot of supplements, as many members report their nervous systems are simply too fragile to handle them. However, magnesium and fish oil tend to be calming to the nervous system and many people report they do help. Please only add in one supplement at a time and at a small dose. For more, please see:

Please add a signature.  Include drugs, doses, dates, and discontinuations & reinstatements in the last 12-24 months. Also include supplements. This will help us give you the most accurate advice we can.

  • Any drugs and supplements prior to 24 months ago can just be listed with start and stop years.
  • Please use actual dates or approximate dates (mid-June, Late October) rather than relative time frames (last week, 3 months ago)
  • Spell out months, e.g. "October" or "Oct."; 9/1/2016 can be interpreted as Jan. 9, 2016 or Sept. 1, 2016.
  • Please leave out symptoms and diagnoses.
  • A list is easier to understand than one or multiple paragraphs.

Please let us know more about your drug history and we can offer you more suggestions.
