I tried to set up a recurring monthly donation via PayPal, but could not find a way to do so.  If anyone knows if this is possible, please let me know.  For now, I will just make an entry in my monthly payments log book which will remind me to return to PayPal to each month to send my small monthly pledge.

You are welcome, FGW, Chessie and Alto.

And thank you, Alto, for looking into a way to make recurring donations through PayPal.  That would be convenient.  I will look for that possibility.

But, as a creature of commitment, I don’t mind going to the PayPal site once a month to make a small but sustaining contribution.

Budget wise, it is just easier for me to make several donations of a few dollars over the course of several months that add up to something capable of helping to make a difference.

Supporting the very laudable cause (and cost) of this website in this small way is how I can say thank you for the untiring efforts and assistance provided to so many here.

Hi,

I'd be interested in anonymous donations.

Would you consider, at some point, publishing a cryptocurrency address (anything but Bitcoin, as it is expensive and slow) so that I (and others) can donate directly that way? For example, XRP (https://ripple.com/xrp/market-performance/) transfers/payments take ~4 seconds and cost <$0.0001, so the time and cost is negligible.

Thank you.

2012: 2 weeks of paroxetine, I cannot recall the dose. Strong side effects, stopped cold turkey, had intense, horrible withdrawal thereafter

2012 to 2016: Fluoxetine 40mg daily, sometimes 20mg daily, a couple of bad tapers under doctor's advisement, increasingly bad withdrawal symptoms with each major dose change

Oct 2016 to June 2017: 10-month reinstatement of 20mg fluoxetine daily to stabilize. A very difficult period but withdrawal gradually improved

July 2017: At 20mg (100%), started a linear tapering regimen using water titration (20mg fluoxetine into 300ml of water).

June 2019: Currently at 0.200mg (1.00%). I have many symptoms, most I attribute to fluoxetine, some to withdrawal, and the rest to hypothyroidism. Continuing to reduce anyway.

July 2019: Jumped from 0.066mg (0.33%) to 0.000mg (0.00%); I'm now free of the poison.

Interesting idea, Kittygiggles. I'll look into it. As yet, none of our vendors are taking cryptocurrency, so not sure how we'd utilize it.

Donated! Thank you very much for everything :)

I follow The Plant Paradox lifestyle by Dr.Gundry. This lifestyle has given me my life back and I feel better than I have ever felt in my life. It has enabled me to finally get off of this medication and truly live my life. Nutrition is the key to health!!!!!

2008 to 2019  - 20 mg Paroxetine

Attempted 2 CT's around the 5-6 year mark. Were absolutely terrible and reinstated. Was never explained by the doctor the seriousness of the short half life of this drug.

2017 - Attempted a tapered discontinuation of this drug and reinstated after being unsuccessful.

2019 - Feb. 12 - After a three month taper I am off of paroxetine. The 3 months were terrible, awful withdrawal feelings. I followed the doctors guidelines for the reduction of this drug and now know it was way too fast.
2019 - Oct. 12 - 8 months off paroxetine. 75% improvement since coming off the drug. Definitely have had tons of challenges along the way. Let’s go!!!!

2021 - Feb. 12 - 24 months off paroxetine. I have minor challenges now. Tinnitus/Headaches are still around but are reduced by a massive amount.

I chose "Family and Friends". Then I had to pay a relative high Paypal fee because I am from EU.
If I chose for an Item or service I dont have to pay these fees but I guess then the Paypal receiver has to pay the fees for this transaction.

AD since 2006 (16 years old). Prescribed on Citalopram, Fluoxetin(2x), Opipramol, Paroxetin. All with CT except Paroxetin (fast taper).
Last medication was Paroxetin for 3 years. Tapered fast:
- October 2018: 10mg -> 5mg
- December 2018: 5mg -> 2,5mg
- February 2019: 2,5mg -> 1,25mg

- Zinc (4 mg)                                                    - Magnesium-Bisglycinat (100mg elemantal Mg)

Friends, I have an unusual request:

A study in the UK that would greatly benefit people having trouble finding doctors to help them taper needs funding. Its budget is modest. If you have the means and would be willing to help fund this study, please contact me.

Your gift would go directly to the medical trust conducting the study. (Not sure of US tax status. The study is within the UK health system.)

Your donation will be going to a registered UK charity.

WISE USE Study

Why we need your help

We are seeking for funding in order to be able to conduct a survey to establish how common, severe and long-lasting are the withdrawal symptoms people experience when stopping antidepressants. We will be distributing this survey in a group of patients enrolled in a therapy service (the Improved Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)) in the North East London Foundation NHS Trust. About half of the patients in this service are currently on antidepressant medication.

One of the major barriers for patients who want to come off antidepressants is the withdrawal symptoms they experience. There is increasing recognition that these withdrawal symptoms can be severe and long-lasting, including by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, NICE and other professional bodies. However, there continues to be uncertainty as to how common and severe these withdrawal symptoms are.

Recently, it has been estimated that about half of patients will have such problems and for half of those they will be severe, and, for some, symptoms will last for months or years (Davies and Read, 2018). However, this study has been criticised for including surveys of self-selected groups (who may have had withdrawal symptoms that were more severe and long-lasting than the average antidepressant user). Other research has been conducted in controlled populations who have only been on antidepressants for several weeks, which is very different to average users in the UK (about half of whom have been on antidepressants for more than two years).

This project will address some of the limitations of previous studies by surveying a population who are not self-selected for problems with withdrawal symptoms, and who are likely to have been on antidepressants for longer periods, more consistent with the pattern of use in the UK. This will help to give us a more representative measurement of how common, severe and long-lasting withdrawal symptoms are. This will help doctors to provide accurate information to patients in the process of informed consent and may also inform the health system about the scale of the problem with coming off antidepressants, adding to existing evidence.

The survey will also seek to understand how people have gone about reducing their dose of antidepressant (tapering), what sources of information they have found helpful and their experience of this process. It will also ask participants about their use of antidepressants, including experience of side effects, positive effects, their understanding of their condition and the role of medication in their lives, which will help to gain a rounded view of why people choose to keep taking, or decide to stop taking antidepressants. We have sought and will seek input from service users at every stage of the project.

The initial stage of this project will cost approximately £4,500 and any funding raised above this will go towards ongoing research about using and stopping psychotropic medications within the WISE USE research group at NELFT.

Hello --

Crowdfunding may be the only way we can get research done on psychiatric drug withdrawal syndromes.

If everyone contributed $5 or $10, the WISE USE study can get going.  Please donate to this registered charity today.

Good news -- the WISE USE study has raised the funds it needs for its first phase. Any overage will go to the next phase of the study.

Thanks so much to everyone who contributed!

The dedicated volunteers arranging showings of the film Medicating Normal are raising funds to translate the film into different languages and continuing their work of presenting it wherever there is interest.

For now, SurvivingAntidepressants.org expenses are covered by your very generous donations. Please donate to Medicating Normal, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, on behalf of the SA community.

Just donated to SA and Medicating Normal on behalf of SA! Going to watch a live streaming of the film tonight.

History: Began suffering from panic attacks when my father passed away in 2005. Been on and off SSRIs (Celexa, Lexapro, Effexor XR), and therapy since then.

2009 - Started Effexor XR 75mg. Consistent therapy starting Oct 2013

Feb 2014 - Therapist and I felt I was ready to come off Effexor - went to half dose (37.5mg) for a week and then off completely by advice of psychiatrist - bad w/d for a week then gone

May 2014 - bad protracted w/d came out of nowhere.. constant dizziness, agoraphobia(never had before), intense headaches, fatigue for 3 months, all tests (brain MRI, inner ear tests, blood tests, etc.) normal. could not drive, grocery shop, or live life.

Aug 2014 - back on Effexor XR 75mg as neurologist thought these symptoms were my anxiety coming back, all w/d symptoms disappear within 2 weeks. I should have went back on at a lower dose, but I hadn't discovered this site yet. I finally did discover this site, and gave myself a year to stabilize.

July 2015 - Started tapering from 75mg. 5% cuts every 3 weeks. From July 2015 - March 2016, reduced to 37.5mg (half dose). In March 2017, down to 18.3mg (quarter dose). April 2020 - down to 0.38mg.

Now: Finally med free as of Oct 31, 2020 after 5.5 years of tapering. Still med and withdrawal free, January 2023. ☀️

Supplements during tapering and now: Meditation, daily exercise, fish oil, clean diet, working from home (more sleep!)
