This is good news as it means you are sleeping more deeply.

Plus you diary shows steady improvements over the last few weeks.

How long is it since you ceased the GABA taper?

What breed of dog do you have?

My husband mentioned to me this morning that our little dog,  Chihuahua mix, began barking when he arrived home late last night. I was already in bed and vaguely remember this so I am hoping I was sleeping more soundly. We also have a larger dog who is an Akita mix.  The small dog sleeps with us and the larger dog has her own bed in our bedroom. Between the two of them, we do get awakened from time to time in the middle of the night.

I am still doing the 10% taper of GABA. Have only done one reduction and take 22.5ml each night. I think it’s been a few weeks since the first and only reduction.

I understand the site’s policy and respect it. However, this doctor is one of the good ones and it is hard to believe that he doesn’t have any worthwhile suggestions as well. I have not taken his advice though and have not taken the Theanine.

Thank you for being you!

Hi mdwstrx ~

Thank you for reaching out. I noticed an improvement about two weeks ago and have been sort of maintaining that since.

I still have symptoms every day but luckily they have not exceeded a level 5 out of town. A lot of time, they are a level 3 and under. So I am very grateful about this.

I guess I am slowly stabilizing according to what the mods have mentioned previously.

I am anxious to be fully stabilized though but I am not even sure I understand what that means. I think stabilization can mean one is still symptomatic.

Hopefully, I can follow in your footsteps and feel normal after another couple of months - or sooner - I’ll take sooner, lol.

How are you doing? Things still going well with your taper?

This is a good update HF!

So glad to hear that symptoms have been manageable recently.

Yes, it's a good sign of stabilizing, I think.  I felt so much hope at that point in my recovery.

I wasn't sure what fully stabilized meant either.  But for me, it has meant back to my old self.

Of course, it wavers with tapering but still very manageable.  My taper continues to go well.

Not totally asymptomatic but as noted, manageable.  Slow and steady is my motto these days.🐢🙂

I continue to pray for you that you'll fully recover and can pursue your goals very soon!

Hi Shep ~

Good to hear from you.

Overall, I have noticed an improvement in myself.  I think my sleep is slowly improving as well as the anxiety.

Anxiety can still get to a level 5 out of 10 (chest pressure and heart palps).  Luckily, I have not had a racy heart in a few weeks now.

Often times, the anxiety is a level 3 or under.

During the evening, my anxiety is low and I haven't had anxiety during the middle of the night or when I awake in the morning for about 3 weeks now.  Yippee.

Thank you for all that you do.

Thanks for the assessment, Hope. Do you feel you are at "withdrawal normal"? Moderator Brassmonkey gives a very good description of what this is like:

Withdrawal Normal

Even if you're at withdrawal normal, you may feel you need to hold a bit longer so that your nervous system can enjoy the benefits of your hold and build an even stronger foundation.

Please don't feel I'm rushing you, truly not my intention, but I noticed you're doing a great job of notes and hadn't had any mod responses in awhile, so thought I'd check in for an "overall" picture.

Please let us know when you want any "next steps" type of feedback. If you feel that a really long hold is in order, please do so. Glad you're doing so well.

Hello Hope

You wait an hour for a bus, then two come along😎, same with mods.

Really great to see you doing so much better.

I am with Shep as you are continuing to improve keep holding and enjoy life for a while.

You have a lot going for you.

When you come to finish your Gaba taper and start Trytophan they should not cause issues provided you taper slowly.

Most importantly you are taking a very small dose of Prozac which will help you to eventually become drug free.

You should be proud of yourself for holding down a job while going through this.

Have your work colleagues noticed you are feeling better?

@Shep and @Sassenach

Thank you both for the encouragement and support.

Yes, I believe that I am at withdrawal normal.  Mentally, I feel good.  When I began my bad taper 2 - 3 years ago, my mood was not as good as it is today and I had major brain fog.  I feel clearer in the head today being on a low dose of Prozac than I did being on 20 mg.

My latest concern is that the back pain has been bothersome the last couple of days and seemed to last all day yesterday.  I get relief when I sleep though.  Weird, once I woke up this morning, and my brain new I was up for the day - BAM - the back pain and achiness started right up.

Over the past couple of months, the back pain seemed to come and go.  The past couple of days it seems like it is staying for a while and I am worried.

As much as I want to get off the GABA, I am going to sit on this for a little while and get back to you. I think I will be ready soon for the next step.

Thank you both so much.

Hi Hope

Your back pain may well be a physical symptom of W/D.

I have the same thing but I believe it is W/D because when I walk I still have it but it somehow feels strange.

If that is the case, like all other symptoms it will come and go as it pleases before you are finally rid of it.

You are dong the right thing in getting regular walks.

A tip that works for me.

If your car has heated seats, use them and lumbar support fully inflated to help.

how the medical community handles withdraw.  Congratulations on holding steady through this ordeal!

Prayers for continued improvement and success in whatever path you choose from here. 💜

I agree- it is so wrong how they dismiss symptoms as being W/D and just want to load the patient on more drugs. Wonder if they would take their own advice if they were the ones experiencing it.

The back pain is worrisome for me and I hope it subsides soon.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another!

Sass

Just when other symptoms are getting better, this one decides to ramp itself up. So frustrating.

I turned on my heated seats this morning on my way to work. Wish I had that for my chair at work too 🙂

How often do you experience back pain?

Well, that’s good to hear that it’s getting better. Wish everything would move more quickly than it does. W/D takes its sweet time.

My latest concern is that the back pain has been bothersome the last couple of days and seemed to last all day yesterday.  I get relief when I sleep though.  Weird, once I woke up this morning, and my brain new I was up for the day - BAM - the back pain and achiness started right up.

Are you able to do yoga? This is a gentle yoga series for lower back pain I do and it's very effective.

Fast Lower Back Pain & Sciatica Pain Relief – Beginners Yoga Stretches and Poses video (19 minutes)

If that doesn't look like a good fit, please see these yoga articles written by someone who's been through withdrawal:

A hot epsom bath can also help, if you're able to tolerate the magnesium in epsom salts.

Hi Shep,

Thank you for the suggestions. I will give them a try. I’m also going to make an appointment with a Chiropractor.

Things have been going downhill and I will work on getting my daily logs updated.

It seems that as the physical anxiety is decreasing, the pain is increasing. Along with the pain, my mood has changed, too.

It’s been one week of non stop neck, shoulder, back, and arm pain. I get relief if I am in the spa and I don’t notice it while sleeping. Once awake though, it’s an all day burning sensation. I am crying more and just don’t feel as positive as I once was.

Prior to this, I was singing to my husband in the mornings while we were getting ready for work. Now, I am crying as I drive myself to work.
